"The Official Wolverine Post."

I can only speak on the workprint at this point, but I like it. Sure they changed the story quite a bit and such but I think what we have here is a kick ass action flick set in the Marvel Universe.

NICE TRY KOWALSKI

In Rotation-
quality music all the time.

As a matter of fact any OKP mods see this. It's a shame cause as I've stated before, I was really rooting for this movie, then the leak happened and like a fly to shit I was there immediately with all intentions to pay for it when it came out. And to hear that the is the workprint with the effects done is a shame. Fuck Fox. The only thing they really have going for them is Slumdog which they wanted to go to video, and Taken which they threw around for a year. Avatar is their only saving grace.

god damn this shit was bad. the story was horrid and seemed very thrown together. gambit was a complete douchebag, a fucking wasted character as was deadpool, who wound up baraka. hugh did a pretty good job though.... will, erm... wraith was useless. they didn't do all that great a job establishing the feel of the actual timeline. scott was pointless, and handing deadpool his powers was retarded. the "climactic" fight was a joke. this shit was corny and got progressively cornier as time went on. especially that blocking the laser with his claws bullshit.

hated it, hated it, hated it. god damn i fucking hated it. i should have waited till sunday.

then it went down hill from there. I guess what bothers me is that they killed off characters for the sake of killing them. The story could of been tighter, alot tighter, but overall this is far from the X-Men franchise. Way far. It was a bad marketing plan when they attached X-Men Origins into the title, because after seeing this, I wouldn't want to watch another X-Men Origin movie. Summer Blockbusters is starting rough.

I saw the workprint. Have not seen it in theaters.

It had good action and was entertaining. That's a win for this movie, because that's all it's supposed to be. The character inaccuracies didn't really bother me, I expected them and ignored them. That's just the way this franchise is. So I was pleasantly surprised, the action was good, and for what it is, I have no complaints.

I hadn't seen the workprint, and don't know what's in it or what went down. I also don't really care about the film in correlation to the comics, etc.

But aside from two cool action sequences, this film was not good. It's full of horrible horrible dialogue, underdeveloped characters, way too much plot, and some poor CGI in spots.

The script is so bad that folks were laughing at serious moments. The first scene in particular is a howler.

It's cast well. Like I said, a couple of action scenes are cool. But overall? It's kind of a mess.

The movie went like this...

Pose, Flair, Flair, Pose, Explosion, Cameo, Pose, Explosion, Flair, Cameo, Flair, Flair, Explosion, Pose.

(flare or flair? don't fuckin care. That rhymed, woot)

Give or take a few cameos and explosions.

Fucking thing sucked. (c) Bill O'Reilly

Incredible Hulk was realized on screen as being a comic book entity of brute unencumbered raw strength. I felt it. It was there.

Iron Man, while still adhering to a sort of viewer friendly formula, realized the technologically awesome badass that Iron Man is, and Tony Starks felt like Tony Starks.

All I saw was Hugh Jackman with CGI claws. and then the CGI was even laughable in some parts, especially the bathroom scene. What a fucking joke. Whichever sfx studio and sound engineer worked on that scene should get impaled in a field of rusty cocks.

And everyone who had seen the workprint told me not to see it...but I see most of these superhero flicks 1st day!

Like posters said previously, cgi was crap. Plot was horribly terrible and of course the obligatory need to change everything about the original story. Movie felt like it was just rushed through lol. Guy leaves Weapon X, just walks away and then he's in a relationship with Silver Fox.

He escapes after the Adamantium infusion(with his memory in tact lol), meets the grandparents and then after like 5 minutes they get killed. They were just irrelevant, and unneeded honestly. I guess it's good they got murked.

Then you have Gambit who I felt like was unneeded in this movie lol.

Too many jokey jokey parts.

The blob? seriously? lol.

Then when they got near the ending...I was just wondering when the ish was going to finish....like please please....end!! Lol@ them giving DeadPool every single power and him still losing.

Xavier coming through lol.

Then smh @ the ending. It's like Fox forgot that they were supposed to end the movie. "Ah he does lose his memory, so get Stryker to shoot him with an adamantium bullet". Gambit having a convo with WOlverine and them having dramatic ass music. wth?

I'm just angry right now.

Agent Zero weren't needed. Scott Summers wasn't needed. It was craptacular. I'm more than happy that I saw this movie for free at a screening on Thursday. Fuck this garbage. So many pointless fucking characters jammed in for no reason.

The Dark Knight and Watchmen set the bar far too high for these new superhero gutter flicks. The Dark Knight for it's character development and plot, and the Watchmen for it's adherence to the comic/graphic novel.

if they aren't going to do anything with them anyway. It's like, ok, you feel that the fans want it, fine. However, I don't see why they should bend the script just to throw in a few B/C level characters...then proceed to pretty much destroy some interpretations of them aka turning the fan favorite psychotic wisecracking ninja-assassin Deadpool into a robotic mute.

If it was just wolvie's got enough demons/issues/popular comic plots you could have just kept it strictly on him and it would have been exciting

Because it's got very little to with HIM. It wasn't any origin. It was just a spinoff. They overkilled it with cameos just like when they did Spiderman 3 and jammed Venom and Sandman in the mix for no reason. Then of course killed both of them., just like this Wolverine shit killed EVERY FUCKING CHARACTER. These morons in Hollywood just don't think things through, I swear.

When that chick came crawling out of the rubble after the silo came down I waned so badly to get up and walk out of the movie. I just didn't care anymore. The little extra after the credits made me unreasonably violent. Too bad I didn't have any popcorn or soda left to throw at the screen.

It failed on every level save for maybe Hugh and sometimes Liv's performance. Script, CGI, general quality of acting, editing..etc... bad bad bad.

At least with the drop in quality between X-Men 3 and X-Men 2, you could blame Fox+Singer beef over Superman returns, and how mediocre Brett Ratner had to step in at the last minute since they had a timeline set in place to get it out

Like, I think I just blame the producers, lol. This project seemed to be rotten to the core, and that's a shame. Hopefully this is the final nail in the franchise, and five/ten years from now find a creative team a la the Nolans or Favreau to do the series justice in a reboot.

as an action flick, it was pretty good.

unfortunately, if you know anything about Wolverine and some of the other characters, you'll be disappointed. why they feel the need to not only change the story, but change some characters powers all together, i will never know.

if there's anything to be learned from the new Batman movies, Iron Man, 300, Sin City and Watchmen, it's that stick as close to the story as possible is the best way to go. and i'm not just saying that as comic fanboy. these stories have been established as good stories for decades. if the stories weren't good, they wouldn't have lasted long at all.

This movie is tongue in cheek, it's corny and it knows it's corny. Maybe that bestows merit upon the movie if you look at it in its own right. Trouble is X-Men 1 and 2 had an air of sophistication and class about them that is not only rare for a comic book movie, but rare for any type of blockbuster for that matter. X-Men 2 was especially earnest and thought-provoking at times, while still managing to find a way to be entertaining from beginning to end. This movie completely ignored Singer's prior efforts and just went straight for the buck and you could tell.

Of felt rushed and sloppy like they saw dollar signs and threw a mish mash of ideas in a hat and pulled them out, giggled about it and ok'd it. It's a C, for a dumb ass story and less than expected special effects, some of then looked so cheesy. Leave the X-Men alone for 10 years or so then do nothing leave it alone. No one will sit thru another 'X-Men Origins' movie unless it's straight to video.

Marvel should buy ownership of all the X-Men characters and start producing movies like Iron Man and Incredible Hulk. I'm tired of these outside studios taking bits and pieces of story arcs and webbing together incidents to make a plot work by creating things that never happened in the comics. I mean come on, there is so much back story on Wolverine:Origins comic book that there is no reason to create an entirely new script based off of little knowledge of Wolverine.

One question?

Which ending did you see after the credits rolled up?
I saw the ending where Deadpool's body finds the severed head and the mouth opens breathing.....

On The Lookout 4:

There are multiple (maybe just 2) endings depending on which theater chain you see it at. I saw it at a Regal Cinemas and did not see that ending, which is doper than the one I did see.

have the rights to every character. A few years ago, Marvel made a deal with Paramount to produce their own flicks how they please, without interference from the studios. Fox owns X-Men and all its characters, New Line owns Blade, Columbia owns Spider-Man, etc. Marvel owns Iron Man, Hulk, basically all the Avengers, and some others. That's what was being referred to.

I honestly wasn't expecting much from this movie going in. I knew from the trailer they took the marvel universe and threw it all into the movie. If you take the movie for the story itself it ties off all loose ends and decently positions itself prior to the x-men franchise.

sort of.

I hindsight I do not remember the "marvel" banner prior to the movie starting so the quality is to be expected (although there is daredevil).

Will.i.am was stone like at times. Thankfully he wasn't in the movie much.

Ryan reynolds really did steal the show in the first 10 minutes.

The cameo of Daniel Negrenau was point less.

The ending I saw had Weapon XI suriving...eh.

overall: eh.

The trailers were better.

"stop killing mutants; let my sister go"

anyway, with zero expectations, I thought it was OK. Schreiber was a good Sabretooth. loved the Blob and Ryan Reynolds. Gambit could have been a lot better. Will.i.am was terrible.

the pacing was good (107 minutes was just right). I liked most of the cameos (identifying the locked up mutants).

some of the serious parts were comedic tho. I cracked the fuck up at the young Wolverine going nutso. Prof X was a great touch guiding them out *right until* that abortion of a CGI figure showed up. OMG my whole row was in tears at that shit.

speaking of, the CGI was pretty bad in parts. Deadpool's fight scene looked like 1997 effects, the claws were terrible (in front of that mirror at the old folks' house? WOW! how does that get approved?), etc.

so like I said, it was OK. better than X-Men 3, although instantly forgettable.

I just can't figure that out. You mean the handheld blades he uses for all the scenes that don't show them actually coming out of his skin weren't good enough?

And Jackman produced this? After 9 years with the character, he should've fucking well known better.

I didn't expect much from Twentieth Century Fox.

With that said, I agree with alot of you on why you DON'T like the film.

But it could have been WAY worse.

I can dig it for what it was...

even though it fell EXTREMELY short of the bar set by comic book movies like The Dark Knight, Iron Man and even The Incredible Hulk.

PS - I didn't mind will.i.am's acting at all.

It wasn't like his role called for much more than the performance he gave.

who can eviscerate people with one swipe. do you know how much blood that would be? that would get them an R rating immediately. not showing blood pretty much guarantees a PG-13 (aka: more money).

they don't even always go hard on the Wolverine gore like that in the comics (depends on which ones you read).

if they showed even "a little" blood every time someone caught the business end of one of his claws (especially post op), you'd now be getting into the "gore" territory.

not to mention, then they'd have to show blood every time Sabertooth got at someone, then show blood every time Deadpool swiped someone with his swords....

can you see where this is going?

Toward a semi-realistic depiction of stabbing someone in the chest? Yes, yes I do.

is is realistic to stab someone and not see blood on the blades? no.

can you show any blood in a movie about dude with blades as his main weapon attached to his arms and keep it PG-13? no.

is this a main concern of anyone besides you? no. i think most people understand why there was no blood.

who's saying this is my main concern? All the other points of this movie have been well established above me, no need rehashing it all.

Still, I contend they could've made that shit look a lot more realistic or at least executed it in a more artsy manner without the jarring image of shiny new blades getting pulled out of somebody's chest. (edit: WHILE still keeping it PG-13!)

That's all. I don't see why you disagree so vehemently about this.

The fights were boring and had mundane choreography. They built up to scenes and fights that they thought would look incredible or play out well only to have them flop on screen.

Going into an origins movie about Wolverine I waned to cringe at him laying waste o people, like I somewhat cringed and laughed at how Hulk was massacring fools.

They could have pushed the blood a little more, shit the new Bond movies were more brutal, bloody and sexually suggestive than Wolvey and it still retained it's PG-13 stamp.

It'll just be nice when the X-men franchise is done being paraded about as a cash cow money whore for Hollywood and instead given real thought and crafted as beautifully as the new Batman movies.

In response to Reply # 0

Wolvie: "Why didn't you tell me it was Sabretooth!?!?!?"
Stryker: "I swear on my dead wife I didn't know!!!"
cut to 40 something seconds later in the same scene.
Stryker: "Sabretooth's been going after the old team."

You can't say "I didn't know it was Sabretooth!" and then say "He's been going after the old team." and reasonably think Wolverine is gonna go with Stryker. Ya wanna lead on to the fact that Stryker's playing Wolverine for a fool, fine. But ya can't do it like they did it in the movie and think it works.

if you need a translator:

Wolverine: "why didn't you you tell me (when we talked before, ya know back at my lumberjack job) that it was Victor?"
Stryker: "i didn't know (at that time), i swear"

later

Stryker: "(we now know) Victor has been taking the team out"

that really wasn't a hard conversation.

He's been going after the old team when only one of them was attacked?
I can get it's a setup to get Wolvie to join up. But that dialogue doesn't work. If he's been going after the old team, how come no one else has been attacked? How come Wolvie can find the rest of the team, unharmed and unaware Sabertooth is looking for them? All of this is info Wolvie has at the time at the hospital, yet it doesn't occur to him he's being played. I get the shock of the moment, but no dice.
There's only one reason for that scene, and that is to get Wolvie to rejoin with Stryker so he can get the adamantium. And there were about 800 better ways to do that scene without Stryker blatantly lying and/or "well now we know what he's doing!" line.

In response to Reply # 0

variety.com:

>Reynolds to star in 'X-Men' spinoff

Fox has begun development on 'Deadpool'

By MICHAEL FLEMING

Twentieth Century Fox has begun development on "Deadpool," an "X-Men" spinoff that will be crafted as a star vehicle for Ryan Reynolds, who played the character in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

The character is one of the most popular in Marvel Comics' X-Men universe. Deadpool is Wade Wilson, a mercenary who, dying of cancer, submits himself to the Weapon X genetic alteration experiment and emerges as an indestructible semi-sane anti-hero. Reynolds seemed destined to play the character. In one reference in the Marvel Comics, Deadpool is described as a mix between "a Shar Pei and Ryan Reynolds."

In one of the "Easter egg" endings of "Wolverine," Deadpool is seen rising from the rubble and whispering "Shhh" to audiences.

The film will be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel.

Fox is also in the formative stages of a "Wolverine" sequel that will encompass the samurai storyline that was hinted at as Wolverine sat in a bar in Japan as the film concluded (Daily Variety, May 4).

Separately, Fox is developing "Magneto," a film about the X-Men villain with a script by Shelton Turner, and "X-Men: First Class," which Josh Schwartz is penning.

Reynolds next stars with Sandra Bullock in the Anne Fletcher-directed "The Proposal," which Disney releases June 19. He also completed the Kieran and Michele Mulroney-directed "Paper Man."

FOX fucked this franchise up from the jump. I just don't see FOX giving a damn about Ryan Reynolds' (or anyone's) wishes regarding faithfulness to the book. My expectations will be low, just like it was for Wolverine. That's the only way I was able to get any kind of enjoyment out of it. Deadpool will be more of the same shit.

And Will.I.Am was fine, y'all need to quit hating on that cat, for real...

The movie felt like it was hacked into pieces. I'm sure there's a more compelling and exciting story there, but yeah, it was as if Fox had no faith in Gavin Hood to bring it out... it flew by too quickly.

On the plus side, I continue to believe that Hugh Jackman has an underrated screen presence... too bad the material he was given here wasn't that good... and that's a shame, you'd think that as one of the film's producers he'd be able to shepherd a better, more thought-out story onto the screen...

I'm also going to give points to Tim Riggins (fine, Taylor Kitsch) as well... that young dude also has great screen presence, and it's only a matter of time before he's the lead in something that will make him a massive star...

Most of my friends that never picked up a comic book loved the movie. I haven't heard one non comic book fan say they didn't like it. I didn't think it was the best and it doesn't compare to DK or Iron Man but I liked it for what it was and was entertained.

the loosely veiled "only nerds and fanboys have a problem with it" jab.
if non comic book readers, or anyone for that matter, enjoyed it, then fine.

but on a number of unbiased/objective levels--it was a mediocre film. at best.

It wasn't great, but it was enjoyable.

I liked it...it was cool.

They definitely tried to throw in too many mutants though. They shouldn't have tried to make a X-Men movie and just made his origins without all the mutant cameos.

Plotwise...there was so much wrong with this film as opposed to the comic, but you expect that.

Regardless, the movie was good. Ryan Reynolds was pretty effin great at the beginning.

only mad 'cause they really strayed from the comic and butchered the Deadpool character - but it's not surprising or unexpected. Ryan Reynolds played him great though.

I thought it was cast well and the actors did a decent job. I'm still mad that Tim Riggins dropped his New Orleans accent, but hey that is a small complaint. My problem is the story was boring. Maybe because I know the Weapon X and Origin storyline from the comics, but it was really just a boring script. I will say this...I thought that Ryan could play Flash in JL movie and I now convince he really could.

..that the game totally, royally, takes a huge fucking dump on the movie presentation of Wolveraine.

The movie isn't THE worst thing I've seen, but it wasn't no damn Ironman/Batman-reboot-flicks. And while the game also isn't perfect - it depicts Wolveraine as the violent destructive force of nature that I always knew him to be in the comics and makes it some type of fuckin awesome.

I much rather spend 40 bucks on this game (or whatever it costs to rent it) rather then 10 bucks to watch the movie - the shit is THAT fuckin lopsided imo.

Since I was just a lad.

The story was fit nicely into a movie, which can't go into too much detail on certain things, and took corners when it had to.

The cast was good, even ppl like Will.I.Am weren't all that bad, and fit the parts they played pretty good.

The best part of the movie was the Team X stuff with Ryan Reynolds and the gang attacking that diamond place.

It sure wasn't perfect (the Weapon XI/Deadpool shit at the end was out of character and cliche, Wolverine being a volunteer for the adamantium treatment), but damn, I thought it was better than 3, and dare I say, comparable to 1 (although I remember thinking that 1 felt like a let down after hoping for an X-Men live action movie for so long when I first saw it). The CGI wasn't perfect either, but I'll be damned it was as bad as you all are saying.

Wolverine is the mutant I feel the most kinship with, in that he never really wants to use his powers, he would rather live a quiet life, but for whatever reason people always wanna try him and test his power..and he therefore has to prove himself all the time.

Loved the imagery, loved the locations, the immediate family and acquaintances were perfect for the storyline...and the additional mutants we get to FINALLY see were craaazy.

Not to mention the opening sequence explaining where his powers were honed, in the armed forces, were great as well...like it would make sense that the government would make full use of someone like "wolverine"...somebody who gets a charge out of battle, and cannot be killed..

P.S.-
Gambit is that next nigga!

I mean it was entertaining but it dicked on the whole story...

I mean I am not a fanboy, I'm just saying even in the context of the movies they dicked on everything they set up in the Xmen movies. The flashbacks and locations from Xmen 2 are just ignored - they couldn't even be bothered to do the stamps the same.

I mean fuck this movie man - fuck it.

Your opinion.
The film was about "wolverine" and his "origins"..
X-Men 2 did take us a different way, but they bank on us forgetting sh*t like that son-son.

That's not to say I don't think Watchmen wasn't very well done. But that shit was a TASK to sit thru.

This was also, a task well rewarded with some cool shit on screen thruout most of the action scenes.

That being said, a pg-13 Wolverine was NEVER gonna work, and all of y'all putting this shit on BloodRayne levels of shittyness HAD to know that going in. That said, some parts were just plain fun to watch, period.

The chopper scene looked far less crappy in the actual movie.

And yeah, they fucked up Deadpool, but for the five minutes Ryyan Reynolds breathed Wade Wilson, if you can tell me you could wipe the smile off your face, then I feel as though you really don't fuck with 'Pool like that in the first place. That part was dope.

Jackman tried, not angry at him. Liev murked out, He WAS Victor Creed.

Wasn't great, don't wanna see another one unless it's R, but I've spent worst time tipsy at the Movie Tavern. shit was aight

you see vic and wolvie as kids. wolvies dad is killed by some bum (he works on the estate grounds or something and is vic's dad), wolvie unleahes bone claws and kills said bum, before he dies he tells wolvie that he's his real father (he was having an affair with moms). wolvie freaks and runs into the woods. vic catches up and says dad deserved to die and they are brothers and will take care of each other.

then the opening credits show how they fight in all the wars and vic gets more bloodthirsty as time goes on. eventually he kills some fellow soldiers and wolvie jumps in to help his brother. they are sentenced to death by firing squad. they survive. while back in a cell they are approached by striker for a "special" team.

then they go on a mission which is where you walked into the movie.
