"JJ Abrams' Super 8 "
Thu Jun-09-11 09:29 PM by Frank Longo

So... it looks like that Cloverfield prequel is happening

http://theplaylistnation.blogspot.com/2010/05/details-on-what-youre-going-to-see-in.html

As we reported this morning, Abrams apparently has a secret project already in the can called "Super 8" which may or may not be a sequel to "Cloverfield." The trailer will reportedly unspool in front of prints of "Iron Man 2," and some extraordinary measures are being taken by the studio to keep it under lock and key until Friday (though preview audiences tonight and tomorrow might see it; if you do keep us posted). However, Vulture appear to have gotten a sneak peek and here's what they report:

Insiders familiar with the trailer tell us that it shows a bunch of kids who are shooting a movie with a Super 8 camera in the seventies or eighties. When they develop the film, they notice that there's an alien creature in the frame. Our sources also say that Super 8 is absolutely connected to 2008's Cloverfield (possibly a prequel, but not a sequel).
Kind of sounds like that scene in "Signs" doesn't it? Anyhow, "Cloverfield" using a '70s/'80s home video aesthetic could potentially be interesting, but we're not sure the idea could sustain a whole picture. So, is it a prequel? A sequel? Your guess is as good as ours and we're not going to venture anything until we see it for ourselves.

Chalk up another one in the Abrams column; he's done a remarkable job of keeping this one quiet. That said, if the viral campaign for "Super 8" comes anywhere near the size of what was done for "Cloverfield," our fatigue factor is going to set in quickly. But for now, we're definitely curious to see what's in store. Whatever it is, it looks like the thunder has been stolen from the new "Inception" trailer which is also supposed to drop this weekend in front of "Iron Man 2."
---

I'm chalking this one up in the category of: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

The shaky camera got old fast, the characters were annoying, and it wasn't much of a monster movie. Not sure what else the film had going for it.

Hate not, Abrams makes great popcorn flicks.

I don't see how this is gonna work the second time around, especially if it sounds like once again, some people are gonna be running around with a videocamera getting chased.

Yesterday, reliable sources told Vulture that Super 8 — J.J. Abrams's top-secret new movie whose clandestine trailer (read about its contents here!) hits theaters this weekend attached to Iron Man 2 — is "absolutely connected to 2008's Cloverfield," though it's not explicitly a sequel. (Hitfix's Drew McWeeny had heard something similar.) At last night's 2010 Time 100 Gala at the Time Warner Center, though, a cagey Abrams insisted otherwise.

"You have to check ," he told us. "But it has nothing whatsoever to do with Cloverfield, despite your expert reporting." So what does it have to do with? "I won’t be able to tell you until it’s done," he said. So to clarify: Super 8 — another virally marketed Abrams-produced movie featuring otherworldly creatures captured on film by amateur cinematographers — will be totally unconnected to Cloverfield.

We asked if 8's trailer was really sent to theaters in canisters requiring special codes to open. "That is correct," Abrams told us. Certainly such conspicuous security measures only invite the kind of scrutiny that can ruin carefully planned surprises, though, right? "I don’t know if it would matter with you guys," he said, laughing. "I don’t think it matters." Is there a better way to keep secret monster movies under wraps? "I'm working on it," he told us before returning to his meal.

And I think it's important to note that the "hack" Abrams didn't actually write or direct Cloverfield; he's writing and directing this piece...

deadline.com/newyork:

>JJ Abrams Unveils His 'Super 8' Film With Teaser Trailer Before 'Iron Man 2' Trailer; Film Hits Theaters Next Summer

By MIKE FLEMING Thursday May 6, 2010 @ 10:36am PDT

JJ Abrams is ready to dish some details on his next Paramount Pictures film, Super 8, with a teaser trailer that will play in front of Iron Man 2 this weekend. That trailer will answer some questions about Super 8, which has been the subject of a lot of internet speculation lately. It will start production this fall, and hit theaters next summer. Abrams wrote the script and will direct, and Steven Spielberg will produce with Bad Robot's Abram's and Bryan Burk.

I'm told the trailer begins with a pickup truck that veers onto a train track, heading directly for a locomotive. The legend appears: "In 1979, the US Air Force closed a section of Area 51. All the materials were to be transported to a secure facility in Ohio." The truck hits the train, there is a tremendous explosion destroying the vehicle and the train. The camera focuses on one train car that wasn't destroyed. A heavy pounding is heard from inside.

The film is a personal passion project for Abrams, an homage of the films he loved as a teenager. It will be shot for $45 million. That puts Super 8 in league with the Bad Robot-produced Cloverfield, but it is not a sequel to that film as has been speculated. Abrams will shoot this in traditional style, and not hand-held. Abrams will then go to work on the Star Trek sequel, which is dated for summer, 2012 release. How exciting.

the "thing" eats dogs?
I thought that the local dogs relocated outside of the city; in trailer it says there were cases of missing dogs being found outside of the town.

Could be wrong, but I at least will wait until some decent reviews of it come in before I pay $12 to see something I know nothing about...

The reviews have been worrisome to say the least, but from the sounds of it most of those reviewers went in with very strong opinions on what Super 8 should be.

I've got tickets for IMAX on Friday. Can't wait.
I'm doing my best to put expectations aside.

This is destined to be a 300+ reply, people love it, then Rjcc and a couple others passionately hate it, then the people who love it ignore the flaws the film might have to defend it blindly, resulting in inevitable namecalling, references to LOST, and at least seven instances of "you mad?"

Here's hoping the film is great though, lol.

I hate to compare it to Cloverfield, but...I remember that post. Not pretty.

I'm not a HUGE JJ fan. I dug Star Trek quite a bit, never saw Alias, and fell off of the Lost train in the 4th season...but I have to hand it to him here. For me, this film was unhateable. Which basically means there'll be a pocket of people who fucking hate it on here.

I just don't see how one can dislike this if they liked the Spielberg movies of the 80s.

Abrams just really divides people, and Rj usually comes down on the "hated it" side, and because people like fighting back against Rj, it always spins out into madness. I'm guilty of it too.

In response to Reply # 58

The internet hype for Bridesmaids was so strong that a lot of people went in expecting the next great comedy and were disappointed when they got another Apatow special (haven't seen it but for every person who loved it, I know two who think it was too long and not as funny as the hype led them to believe.)

Although, the review on Super 8 are already coming in as mostly mixed so expectations may be muted a bit but I keep hearing that it's a poor man's Spielberg and two movies clumped into one (which is actually what it is).

Is there ever a clear shot of the monster/lab experiment gone wrong? One trailer showed a large dark green tentacle tearing through a school bus. Its also obvious the 'thing' has telepathic abilities.

The alien actually looks like this.

Plus there's no telepathy involved. The alien does use some kind of interface to interact with computer networks and cell phone towers to gain knowledge throughout the movie.

just like a lot of them other Spielberg flicks

I thought it was a bit Velveetish myself but sorta saw it comin once an earlier scene sets it up. It didn't really ruin the rest of the film for me but there is an awkward shift in tone at a key moment before the finale.

The kids are great. Especially Joel Courtney & Riley Griffiths. Never a dull moment with those two. Funny, charming and sympathetic. The other kids are all engaging as well.

As far as the action the train crash & sound effects alone might be enough to send me back for a second viewing via IMAX. There's a good amount of suspense throughout and these scenes are top notch the way they're shot & directed. The lens flares are back as well but added to the sense of eerieness so didn't mind as much this time.

I liked Cloverfield a lot and liked this one as well. Although Abrams claims it's not, it sure as hell felt like a prequel to me.

I didn't care for Cloverfield and I didn't care for the monster stuff in this film either. I think Super 8 is much better than Cloverfield but I wonder how many people who didn't like Cloverfield really like Super 8.

The ending, yeah. Even the friend who saw it with me and really liked the film thought the ending was really bad. I can definitely see why people liked it. I just think some of the "They don't make 'em like this anymore" stuff is hyperbole. Although I will agree that I can't remember a lot of films like this starring kids coming out recently (at least not live action films).

Thoroughly enjoyable as a kids flick with some very adult content as well. Some scenes had me audibly chuckling, and some had me startled in my seat. One scene in particular was as good an action scene as I've seen in a long time.

JJ really brought the heart to this film.

The kids were incredibly cast and their chemistry was fantastic.

The main kid, the chubster, and Elle Fanning were all excellent with some notably good performances from the rest of the kids.

Mr. Early Edition was solid with a smaller part than I'd anticipated.

Overall, it's beautifully shot and anyone who grew up on 70's/80's/90's kids adventure flicks is gonna have a great time.

The monster element/storyline is hokier than Cloverfield but overall, I'd say they are kind of on par with one another.

SPOILERS

The plot is essentially Cloverfield meets E.T. with a bit of The Goonies thrown in. The kids' performances were good and of course it was a well made film. Unfortunately, as an "alien/monster" movie, it just didn't grab me. I found plot of the alien escape was overshadowed by the corny family drama/first love stories. I guess I was looking for something more "serious". I'm not quite sure how to articulate it. But it was too "light" for me. But I'm sure others will love it. My grade is B-.

granted the ending was more heartfelt than id expected, the first 2/3's are very dark. theres some seriously dark content in this, so i dont really see it as being too soft or light.

but i can see the ending turning some people off.

I thought the monster opening its eyes when he was holding the kid was a really interesting choice. it could go unnoticed, but i gathered it implied he was being all destructive with his eyes closed the whole time. it wasnt until the kids little speech that the monster was able to say "i gotta see the kid thats spitting this tear-bait before i rip his head off"

Elle Fanning was hit and miss for me. At times she was great and other times, I was confused by her acting.

Overall, I was pretty impressed with the kids. The one scene between Charles and Joe, was pretty damn great. The other kids seem to have decent comedic timing and fit their roles well.

We don't see character development like this anymore. What I liked about the film is that it takes its time telling the story and letting us get to know the various characters. This Close Encounters, E.T., and Cloverfeild wrapped into one movie. This was a great throwback to the old school Spielberg movies of the 70s and 80s and boy does it capture 1979 perfectly. The kids kilt it. These cats are almost like if they had been acting for 30 years or so.

The dad who doesn't know how to raise his kid or forgive goes through a traumatic experience and learns what's important?

The quiet kid finds his voice and saves the day?

A near death experience brings father and daughter together?

I can get why people liked the film but to act like this is somehow the kind of film we don't see anymore is a major reach. Besides the fact that it is an homage to Spielberg's 80's films, the main pieces of the film were as standard as they come.

Why didn't the monster just leave? It was enacting revenge on earthlings and wanted someone to say that we weren't all bad? Didn't he already get that from the doctor? The ending rivals Adjustment Bureau in terms of cheese/derailing a flick IMO.

Also, not showing the monster was nothing but a gimmick. In Jaws, when you first see the shark, you realize that they bit off more than they could chew. In this film, they are being terrorized by a monster... and then we see the monster. Also, keeping it a secret added nothing to the story and just kept us from getting the main plot (trying to get the monster home.)

It really did feel like two movies (which it originally was) and the stuff with the kids was by far the strongest. The ET on steroids part was rushed and I feel like Abrams wanted to stay away from the kids trying to teach the adults that the alien isn't all bad element or that by trying to kill it, they are bringing on their own doom.

The zombie movie at the end was the best part of the movie.

Oh yeah, and fuck the lens flare. Enough already.

It WAS trying to leave. It had been held captive all those years. It was busy building up his shit and only revenge came when asshole general rode by in the bus with the kids.

Loved it.

The depth, action, mystery combined with the score, cinematography, and imo jaw-dropping performances by the youngsters combined to create such an enthralling film. My favorite of the summer so far and will be tough to beat imo. I can understand if someone had a gripe that the ending was too corny, but it felt very appropriate imo because after a certain point, it was clearly leading up to something of that nature(I really liked the 'eyes' moment).

I can't still come to grips with how fantastic of a job the kids did. A must-watch for them alone.

There's a couple of flaws but overall I really dug the dynamic and chemistry among the kids, especially between the 2 leads. Although the ending seem a bit rushed and force, I was still delighted about the film. Was it me or it seem short? Anyway, didn't mind the lens flare, there were 2 specific frames from a scene that was cringe worthy, but didn't ruin the experience. Great summer film.

That was a lot of fun.

The kids were great, wish Kyle had more to do, but the movie's not really about him.

The kid from 7th Heaven (the camera store stoner) was pretty funny as well.

Also, in a welcome change of pace from our jaded and cynical fucking know-it-all times, the ending was fine.

Also, for the last time, the "Hack" did NOT direct Cloverfield. The only things those two movies have in common is that there's a monster.

Nice Spielberg homage without the "darkness" of his 80's films...

Took my 9 year old and we loved it.

One of my favourite scenes was when the main character was painting the zombie face on the girl he had a crush on. Really clinched the unspoken sub-text I sensed a couple times....he had 2 motivations for helping out with the zombie movie: He yearned for his mother to come back and he had a crush on the girl. When he stared at her made-up 'dead' face....that was a great moment. Confusion about love and death tied into one great moment.

Really great pacing in the script too. My daughter asked me 'What is this movie even about?' around 2 seconds before the train crash. Perfect timing.

I haven't liked a blockbuster this much in a long time.

believe people that are familiar with JJ Abrams and his MO are tired of feeling manipulated. When he just makes a straight up movie and not the next viral mystical sensation, he makes a decent flick. Quit messing around and make the Trek sequel.

"Prior to opening, allegedly soft tracking in industry polling led Paramount and others to project Super 8's weekend at $25-30 million."

Also, this film had a low budget of 50 million (although some people don't believe the reports) so making over half your budget back on opening weekend isn't too shabby.

It wasn't a HUGE opening but how many original films with no stars and no pre-sold fan base ever opens to huge numbers? The key will be next week and whether or not it'll avoid the 50% drop (which I think it could.)

whether or not you liked it, the reviews have been pretty damn good

so whether or not it does massive numbers, chances are excellent that it's profitable- which is the goal, right?

-relatively low budget
-opening week garnering like 70% of your production cost
-excellent reviews with strong word of mouth

I feel about the same as a lot of you. Liked it up until the last twenty minutes, then it got corny. But even then, 20 years ago, I would have liked the ending too.

My biggest complaint was that yes, I thought this was going to be the Cloverfield prequel. In fact, Abrams actually said it was a Cloverfield sequel, early on. WHICH IT IS NOT. AT ALL.

I'm convinced that it was, at first, but then they changed it at the last minute, probably because they didn't know how logical it would be to make the Cloverfield monster do all the stuff that the monster in this movie did...I STILL think that this movie would have been MUCH, MUCH better, and far more clever, had it been the prequel to Cloverfield.

I think there's another glaring problem that I had that many people had too...without getting too specific, I'll say it this way: when you pick the middle ground between ET and Cloverfield, you kind of have to account for the death toll somehow...but this movie definitely danced around that part of it.

But anyway. The kids were great, liked the story, the suspense. Just like the 80s flicks. I even love how in typical 80s PG-13 fashion, there's approximately 1 use of the word fuck, just thrown in for good measure.

I hope none of this comes off as a spoiler, but really, I really didn't think that there was really too much to spoil.

The dialogue is absolutely the standout.

Some of the early shifts in tone are a little jarring, but it's all good. They work separately decently well until they come together, and even though this prevents it from 4-star status, it was never that bothersome.

The adults have nothing to do, so I wish they'd cut the adults out more. Keep it from the perspective of the child-- don't even give us the scene of Kyle Chandler kicking ass like we care, cuz we sorta don't.

I loved the kids. Loved loved loved them. Elle Fanning was sensational, as was the kid who was the director. Also, every school has that pyro kid. Perfect casting.

The shtick of scaring us in the middle of a boring conversation might have been done once too many-- but I don't like being scared. I am grateful for the bus scare because my date literally ended up out of her seat in my lap, she jumped so high. Thank you, JJ.

The "corniness" of the ending in no way bothered me. It's no cornier than the ending of ET or Close Encounters. If you were less emotionally invested, then you have more of a problem with the rest of the film, not the ending. I was pretty emotionally invested, so I dug it. The necklace moment was especially great to me. How else did you expect it to end? lol

Overall, not the grand slam I wanted, but a solid home run nevertheless. My date agreed with me that it was better than X-Men: First Class, which makes it the best summer action movie so far this year.

but im so glad everyone here is getting what i got out of it for the most part. fun monster movie with spectacular performances/dialogue for the kids. not without its flaws, but nothing that breaks it as a success.

like others said, it makes excellent use of the notoriously allotted 1 use of "FUCK" in a PG-13 in order to stay PG-13.

It's just exactly what I want in a PG-13 Adventure/Monster Summer Movie. And it seems like most of you feel the same way.

the kids performances MORE than made up for the clunky, and ultimately, forced and melodramatic family drama parts...

I would like JJ Abrams to do something OTHER than the absentee parents storylines that run through MOST of work...

really.

and the LOST melodramatic music? Damn, LOST has been off the air, what, a year now? did you have to use it?! LOL!

but it was a good movie. a B/B- for me

Harkened back to all those early 80s movies I grew up on in which no kids' parents were EVER around. Which at the time I was too young to grasp the sadness of, so I just thought it was cool how these kids got away with so much. I didn't think of it in relation to JJ's career output, but Spielberg's. I thought it was them trying to capture that old school magic, and for me it kind of worked.

Devin Faraci had a great review of the film (with a little too much negative hyperbole, but that's to be expected) and pointed out how the parents' redemption angle should have dropped since they parents never really changed. It should have been more about the kids coming-of-age and what not and just kind of dumped the parents. I mean, they already kind of did dump the parents; Chandler disappeared for half the film and Elderd only had a couple of scenes.

http://blog.melanism.com/2011/06/13/movie-of-the-week-super-8/

Super 8 reminded me of the kind of movies that seemed to be abundant when I was younger: a bunch of kids dealing with a situation that was WAY over their head. This movie, which has been the best movies I’ve seen this summer thus far, would fit in perfectly with E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, D.A.R.Y.L. and The Goonies.

* The sci-fi/alien aspect was actually not that great. The best way to describe it is, “What if E.T. was captured by the government instead of found by little kids and E.T. was violent?”

*Speaking of violent, this movie is pretty violent if you were thinking of taking a little kid. It should be fine for someone over the age of 12.

* With the exception of Elle Fanning (Alice), Joel Courtney (Joe) and Riley Griffiths (Charles), I didn’t think the kids weren’t that great individually. But as a group, amazing. Any time they were together, their conversations seemed so natural. It didn’t seem like they were acting but they they were really friends having a real conversation about a train crash and a zombie movie.

* As a huge fan of Friday Night Lights, I was disappointed that Kyle Chandler didn’t have more to do. Of course, he was his usual great Southern stoic self (could he play someone from a coastal city) but I wanted him to become a star on the strength of this movie. Oh well, I hope he plays Detective Walker in FX’s Powers.

* The ending was kind of “meh.” It wasn’t horrible but it felt like the movie just…ended.

* This movie may have the best anti-drug message in a kids movie that I’ve ever seen.

All of the kids do, really. They were awesome. Their conversations really did seem 100% natural and not forced. What really impressed me was when they were making their movie, all of them really looked like middle schoolers making a movie, stumbling over lines, etc. They pulled it off flawlessly. They can really act.

And the movie through the credits was awesome.

I think I was more interested in the movie that the kids were making than Super 8 itself... Hilarious how they were using this disaster/government conspiracy to add "production value" to their flick. The little girl was so good that it actually was kind of scary. Overall the film was formulaic, though not necessarily in a bad way... but the kids were the spark that gave life to the formula.

I was cool with the schmaltz. My wife thought it was corny though. Your mileage may vary.

I found myself with a lot of questions regarding the alien.

Such as, why a super intelligent species would have evolved into something with so many teeth and arms... Wouldn't its hunting and gathering days be behind it?

And when/why did it develop such a taste for human flesh? He'd been living on raw steaks in captivity, why isn't he just out stealing raw cutlets along with microwaves and auto parts?

And last but not least, why would a subterranean species need or even want a spaceship? Seems like one of those fish-with-a-bicycle scenarios.

I guess I just didn't get how the creature was so monstrous and sophisticated at the same time. Not that it affected my enjoyment of the flick, but it seems like there was something 'off' about the monster aspect of this flick that led me down that line of thinking.

It would depend on a LOT of things...such as the physics or its planet of origin.. Gravity, it's make up of sustenance, oxygen or whatever its species breathe, other predator species that shape the evolution of the planet's living species , etc.. Crazy thing about the Matrix Trilogy was that all of the machines where either modeled after an insect's body structure or something other than a bipedal human...Reason being was the logic of the machines knew that bugs were survivors...and the human arm leg leg arm head shit was a thing of the past.

>And when/why did it develop such a taste for human flesh? He'd
>been living on raw steaks in captivity, why isn't he just out

It prolly didn't make much of a difference, especially if we don't know if he actually LIKED the steaks its been given

>And last but not least, why would a subterranean species need
>or even want a spaceship? Seems like one of those

The same reason why the Mon Calamari species from the star wars universe had a knack for building space crafts....with an organic look. lol iono!

Yea...so gruesome but so intelligent. Just look at the Predator species...Bad vision...gotta use infrared vision everywhere...how did they develop such detailed technology with such bad vision??? ugh....

it was very good but not quite great. he does a fine job pulling you into a story and I love the pace of his films (first 90 minutes flew by), yet the third act can't quite find that perfect conclusion.

still, a lot of fun to watch in the theater.

My and my homegirl decided to sneak into another theater after seeing The Hangover II, so we had no idea what we were gonna watch.

Anyway, neither of us had heard of this movie nor what it was about, but whatever... still don't know how/why we stayed through the whole thing. Shit was terrible and stupid.

to be first..er...third in line for the premiere as a kid at the Cinerama Dome back in the 70's, I can say this film took me back – in a good way.

Agreed that it felt Spielbergian, but you could still feel Abrams touch and that's also a good thing, because there was a freshness to it, even with all the throwbackness.

It was the first time in a long time that I've seen characters and acting in a blockbuster done so well. Those kids had soul and the actors killed it.

The light leak/lens flare DID bother me because during the train scene it was really fucking distracting. People in the theater were even pointing to it, thinking something was wrong. That's just a bad choice, period. It passed the point of being an homage to Spielberg and becoming a gimmick. Fortunately, it didn't stay that way and the rest of the film was bearable.

Chunk had the one-liners galore. That kid delivered.

Love the soundtrack.

Yeah, there was a bit of cheese, but in this case it would have suffered without it.

All in all, I give it an A-. Really well done.

In response to Reply # 0

the two leads - Joe and Alice - are great. they're the only characters in the entire movie who ring true as believable humans, and actually talk TO each other, rather than speaking lines AT each other.

the rest of the kids in the movie are terrible. they're all one-note and annoying. the pyro kid exists only to fulfill a predictable plot point. the fat kid is just poorly reciting lines...no connection to anyone else on screen. the tall nerd throws up a lot and is scared of things. all of the comedy falls flat and they're all jokes we've seen a million times before.

Alice's dad is *horrible*. never scary enough to be a legitimate threat, never fatherly enough for us to believe he'd try to rescue her.

Coach Taylor is wasted. he stomps around the city demanding answers from cartoon military officers until eventually becoming a cartoon action hero himself.

there're also a shit ton of cliches. the doofus wearing loud headphones who's missing carnage behind him. the evil military official up to no good. the character who almost alerts the villain to his existence by screaming at a dead body. drunk dad. sexpot older sister. girl from the wrong side of the tracks with a heart of gold.

as others have said, the movie completely falls apart in the third act. its rushed and messy and we have absolutely no reason to care about what happens to the alien at the end.

ultimately, this is a dumbed-down movie for little kids with just enough violence and cuss words thrown in to trick you into thinking it's for adults.

They clearly are down on it and have been shading almost every story as negative. Super 8 has another weak weekend coming up so it could make some more dough.

I'm sure their argument would come from per theater gross (Super 8's was on par with X-Men's second week) but the less than 40% drop is impressive IMO.

everything else is REALLY cliche as hell, which i guess is part of the point, but without those kids performances this movie woulda been wack.....everything involving them i liked...the rest? i gave a pass cause the kids really were THAT good...

David gallagher(sp) was great too, and i didn't even recognize him...as were the bf parents, they did a great job with what they had....

...and i didn't have a problem with the ending....but when the bus got attacked i initially thought it was cause the alien had touched the girl, sensed how much she cared for him, and wanted to keep him safe....

These niggas was on some Goonies shit (NOTHING beats The Goonies so don't even trip) as far as the gung ho attitude to do shit
the kids made this shit, and it seems like the movie was made to highlight them
even Dep. Lamb and the alien almost seemed like plot devices and took a backseat to the lil niggas to do work
best movie I've seen all year, I loved this shit
probably cop the DVD
funny thing about it tho, these lil niggas would be fighting one minute then back at it like 'yeah we need to film the scene, meet us up there with the makeup' like regular kids-but they did it with a fucking alien running around

it was as much like ET as it was goonies. would have liked way more interaction between the kids and monster and not just them running from it.

I'm glad I didn't buy it blindly, but it was definitely enjoyable. I liked the pyromaniac friend.
