The Original Text

The Jujyfruits name will not be used because the number of its participants of the final phase wasn't high enough in my opinion to warrant its subtitle of "PTP's Favorite Films from 2000 to 2009."

Instead the compiled favorite films of the 18 final phase participants, who are also recipients of the David Caruso in Jade Award, are called Sack Lunch ( http://i49.tinypic.com/241w6co.jpg ).

There were 793 votes from the 18 lists.

I'd like to thank the participants of the preliminary phase of the defunct Jujyfruits project.

I'll be revealing the 60 films in a countdown. Comments and reactions from all of PTP while the countdown is in progress are highly encouraged.

Th contents in order of Sack Lunch will be posted here after the #1 film is revealed.

Note: The 3 numbers in parentheses after film titles denote points, votes, first-place votes)

Kind of how I feel about it, too. But I got to admit seeing some OKPs rate this highly are making me consider watching it again.

LOL. I like it better than The Dark Knight. Huh, I should've revisited Insomnia for this thing. I've wanted to for the longest but I keep forgetting about it.

>60. Ghost World

I knew a girl who loved this movie, and she turned out to be the goddamn devil . . . so . . .yeah. Sorry, Mynoriti.

>59. Brokeback Mountain

No interest when it came out. Saw it after Heath Ledger died. Turned it off after forty-five minutes. It's like Guess Who's Coming To Dinner but with a great lead performance. I don't know.

>58. Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

I rented it based on wanting a better understanding of the Paul Bettany "hype"(he bagged Jennifer Connelly, so there had to be something there right?). But Russell Crowe and boats and accents and dark, muffled cinematpgraphy don't do anything for me.

>57. The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada

There were a couple films that I didn't have time to catch up on and keep to the deadline. This was one of them (Whale Rider another).

>56. Chop Shop

On my list.

>55. Michael Clayton

Wasn't there something hokey in an important scene, like a kind of folder that reminded some kid of something. Man, my brain sucks. Anyway, I recall some cheesy bad 80's action movie contrivance that took it down a few notches. However, I do remember some great performances, with George Clooney in particular killing it in the end. Also, I loved the taxi cab end credits sequence.

>54. Batman Begins

It's not as good as the second one, right? And the second one kinda sucked, right? So if you take the second one and minus Heath Ledger's performance what can you possibly get?

>53. Ratatouille

Pretty but thin as hell story-wise. Last twenty minutes or so (when the villain gets humanized) redeemed it some.

>52. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

Which one is this? Anyway. Not for me. I was bored thirty minutes into the first one.

>51. Traffic

Benicio Del Toro's section = great. Chemistry between Cheedle & Guzman = great. Everything else, I'm figuring, would seem outdated, overly-simplistic, and preachy if I were to rewatch it now.

yeah but the key question is did she love it for thora birch or did she love it for seymour? really tho, i've met way too many lames over the past couple years with really great taste in movies and music to believe they're a helpful tool in the application process. similar taste is a cool bonus, but ultimately meaningless.

>60. Ghost World

The dreadfully dull, mouth-breathing Johansen left me scarred. Birch & Buschemi were good but good enough for consideration on my list.

>59. Brokeback Mountain

Pass

>58. Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

Twas aiiight. OE turned in a list?

>57. The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada

Very good. Very slept on.

>56. Chop Shop

Need to see this

>55. Michael Clayton

Maybe the best opening monologue of the decade. Kind of expected more from the rest of the movie after that but it was still good minus the corny ending.

>54. Batman Begins

It's better than TDK so should be higher. Right now I'd say it's tied with The Prestige for Nolan's 2nd best movie behind Memento.

>53. Ratatouille

Pass

>52. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

Loved it right after I saw it initially on the big screen. I fucking hate spiders & that scene had me squirming in my seat. The whole series was great at the time but they don't do much for me now.

>51. Traffic

Benecio & Cheadle were both great in this. It does feel a bit dated now tho.

>50. Finding Nemo

No beef.

>49. High Fidelity

No beef, really. John Cusack / the whole overly-pontificating narration scar it some, but if it's on TV, I'll watch.

>48. The Proposition

This was one I watched specifically for possible consideration on this list. I think I lasted a half hour. It seemed kinda sloppy(cheap? rinky dink?) and creatively deficient. Like dark, grizzly shit is cool, but I couldn't discern any talent on display. Nothing aesthetically pleasing or interesting to grasp onto and a story that was tired and meandering.

>47. Gladiator

LOTR for frat guys.

>46. Hero

Which one was this? I remember post-Crouching Tiger there being a handful of epic scale martial arts type films. They're all boggled together in my brain now. Is that racist? They can't drive well either. That is racist.

>45. Good Night, and Good Luck

On my list.

>44. Cache

I think I remember something where dude who directed this claimed that his message is more important to his movies than all else. When I watched Cache, I remember thinking, "you're proving a point in a medium meant to entertain." The two ideas aren't mutually exclusive, but go do school lecture if you wanna point your finger. Godard in the 60's and Battle of Algiers? Examples that work. Cache? No.

>43. When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts

Cool. Only issue . . . too soon? Last month, I watched some PBS special about those displaced by Katrina missing their pets. Some time was able to elapse that allowed more interesting stories to develop. *insert cooking metaphor about needing ingredients to marinate* (Trouble The Water was one I meant to see for consideration on this list but ran out of time to do so.)

>42. Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (38 / 5 / 0)

Caught Vol. 2 just recently. The last hour or so, when Uma Thurman meets up with her daughter = incredible. Up there with The Gold Watch and Jackie Brown as the best QT has ever down. Anyway, I loved the end enough to make me consider rewatching Vol. 1, but then thoughts of the Pussy Wagon and Vivica A. Fox crept back in and I decided nah.

>41. Bus 174 (38 / 3 / 0); 5th and 7th on two lists)

I like the score & several shots/scenes more than the movie as a whole.

>40. Primer (38 / 3 / 0; 3rd and 4th on two lists)

Science-fiction and me don't do well together, but the story behind the film has almost convinced me to give it a whirl. I just recently welcomed cable back into my life and saw it was on last Sunday. I missed it again, but, I'm thinking it will be mine soon enough.

>39. Letters from Iwo Jima (39 / 5 / 0)

As I wrote to Sponge, for reasons that may only make sense to me, I did not include foreign-language films on my list, except for documentaries. If not for me being an asshole like that, I would have probably caught up on this. I liked Flags of our Father well enough, however, war doesn't interest me much. It remains unseen.

>38. Almost Famous (39 / 4 / 0)

I think it's a movie to appreciate for its performances, namely Billy Crudup and PSH. Otherwise, I just don't think the Cameron Crowe world is right for me (Fast Times = gold, still).

>37. Adaptation (40 / 5 / 0)

Saw it in the theater. Remember liking it. Remember the Internets being bombarbed with talk like, "greatest screenwriter ever." Remember running away from it.

>36. Werckmeister Harmonies (40 / 3 / 1)

Haven't seen. Know it's loved greatly by some here. See: asshole comment above.

>35. United 93 (41 / 5 / 0)

On my list.

>34. The Departed (43 / 7 / 0)

On my list.

>33. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (43 / 4 / 0)

Probably missed my list by a spot or two. Not that it's a film that aims to establish itself in any sort of real world, but the Christina Applegate relationship is sitcomy. I dive in deep into all the absurdist comedy stuff, but there were eligble comedic films that made me laugh and believe in the boy-girl angle more than Anchorman.

>32. Mulholland Drive (44 / 6 / 0)

On my list. Made it for two main reasons: one of my top ten scenes of all-time ("no hay banda") and one of my top three all-time female performances (Naomi Watts). I remember trying to puzzle it together when it first came out. I've become less excited in doing so since, but it still is strong enough to warrant inclusion on my list.

>31. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (45 / 6 / 0; one top

I think they're all fun watches especially this one and Fellowship. The battle in Towers is pretty sweet.

>I forgot to ask if you'd mind expounding?

Two main reasons:

1. I cannot properly "grade" the acting when the actors aren't speaking English (4 Months is the one immediate counter-example I can think of it . . . but it's really the one). Anyway, didn't seem fair to lump 'em in with the rest. I guess you could make some kind of similar argument with including docs in with narrative films, but those work for me together, for whatever reason.

2. I've seen many more Enlgish-language films than I have non-English language films. Have I seen the foreign language versions of Birth or Shogun Stories, those that were critically passed over or those that were made for nothing and had to be discovered on DVD? I can't feel confident saying I have. Because of that, for my own sense of "right-in-the-world", I didn't feel able to include those foreign language flicks I have seen and liked. If I did, it's a statement, to myself, at least, that I've seen enough foreign language films to be an expert on them when I'm not (not an expert on English-language films either, but more confident am I).

>>I liked Flags

Maybe on day (probably not, honestly . . . ha). I do think it's fun that in cramming first-time films and rewatching's in for preparation for this list I saw three Ray Winstone films in one week: The Departed, Sexy Beast, and The Proposition.

Have you changed your stance on acting not being that important in English-language films or weak acting not hurting the greatness of a film? I apologize if I'm mistaken. Or was it that acting just needed to be decent in English-language films? Sorry, if I asked you this before or if I'm mistaken again.

I'll say something, anyway. Ha. The Day of Days and Bastogne episodes are some of the finest pieces of filmmaking of the past decade and some sequences are some of the finest I've ever seen. The stories are already great, but the editing and stuff are first-rate.

Watched a couple scenes on youtube to see what this was all about. Interesting b&w direction & use of lighting but I don't think I'll be seeing this one.

Honestly not many that weren't made in the 80's. I'd say Knocked Up and The Hangover were too recent examples but for the most part jokey comedies don't work for me. I'm more a fan of off-beat stuff like BBC The Office or even LVT's "The Boss of it All". In the end I'm pretty much a snob.

Old Boy wasn't on my list but I can easily see why people would vote for it.

Memories of Murder blew me away but I'd still have it in the bottom half of my 50.

Examples? I'm asking because I don't recall you posting about 80s films. Just curious.

Didn't chuckle much while watching the latter. However, I did laugh when I thought of the premise after watching it and do chuckle or smile whenever I read or hear the title as the premise pops into my head. It's one of those films where I later realize that I kind of liked it.

I mean that was when I was a kid and me and my brother would just bug out but those movies still make me laugh consistently. Classics = Fast Times, Trading Places, Weird Science, Vacation, Golden Child, Ferris Bueller's = pretty standard list...

Ha, yeah, I know, I see it on the shelves and also because of the PTP posts about it. But lately "list" and "to-see" is an automatic pairing to write, for me, when in a rush.

>28. X2 (46 / 6 / 0)

Like X-Men? Like, really? Okay.

>27. Before Sunset (46 / 4 / 0)

I tried Before Sunrise, couldn't hang, so didn't venture towards this one. Strangely (?), I did mostly enjoy 2 Days in Paris (blame it on Adam Goldberg).

>26. The 40 Year Old Virgin (48 / 7 / 0)

On my list.

>25. The Pianist (52 / 5 / 0)

I sort of put this up there with United 93: good movies I have no intention of seeing again. However, I saw The Pianist my one time when it came out, and I was 17. I saw United 93 just a couple years back, so the impact it did leave was more lasting (maturing, more appreciative film-goer now). So I would have to revisit The Pianist to give it a fair evaluation for this kind of list, but I have no intention of doing so.

>24. Amelie (54 / 5 / 0)

Was a big fan of it when it came out. Bought it. Eventually bought into nighttripper unfavorably likening it to Forrest Gump. Sold it. Plus, I didn't like A Very long Engagement very much, so I just figure we naturally would have grown apart.

>23. Amores perros (54 / 3 / 1)

Nope. "Wow! How'd they film those scenes with the dogs?" That was all I got from it. Then I saw 21 Grams. Then I saw as much as I could stomach of Babel. Hack director. Now I don't care how they filmed those scenes with the dogs.

>22. Oldboy (55 / 6 / 0)

>28. X2 (46 / 6 / 0)

I thought Aaron Stanford was gonna blow up after this. Nightcrawler got all the new mutant props but Pyro stole it in my book.

>27. Before Sunset (46 / 4 / 0)

Had it's moments at the start but somewhere along the line I lost interest & it never managed to grab my attention again by the time it ended. That big ass ant still fucks with me from time to time.

Another flick where I like the score more than the movie. Way too bleak to be a favorite of mine.

I loved the same things in Memories of Murder which leads me to ask have you read Roberto Bolano's "2666"? A whole section of that book tackles very similar themes.

My roommate had a copy in college. I was a fan of it in the theatres, big into the hype, but it fell apart upon a second viewing. Plus, seeing what Pixar has done the last couple times out makes its "greatness" seem even more like a distant memory.

Liked it but not enough to make my list

Probably should've watched ITMFL first but still enjoyed it for what it's worth

>18. Yi Yi (66 / 3 / 3)

Pass

>17. Zodiac (69 / 7 / 1)

I'm a fan of Fincher & liked it up until a certain point. Once Ruff-dawg left the investigation it felt redumbdant. That scene downstairs in dude's basement was pretty suspenseful tho.

>16. Punch-Drunk Love (72 / 7 / 0)

I feel like I oughta give this one a chance from start to finish. Whenever it's on I start watching it somewhere in the middle & eventually lose interest.

It's also a fun, clever movie about a robot. It's not like millions of parents were taking their kids to see An Inconvenient Truth.

Both Incredibles and Ratatouille have a definite libertarian streak, but I don't really care because they're so entertaining.

>15. The Royal Tenenbaums (74 / 8 / 0)

On my list.

>14. The Dark Knight (76 / 9 / 0)

Heath Ledger plus some of the most infuriatingly poorly directed action scenes in a big name movie ever. That plus justification for my Christian Bale dislike is what I took away from The Dark Knight.

>13. Wall-E (79 / 9 / 0)

To the reply above, while we can discuss the politics of Wall-E if you want, it's actually a movie I love more because of its portrayal of loneliness and the relationship between Wall-E and Eve. I placed it high, but the first forty or so minutes are actually (possibly) my favorite of the entire decade.

>12. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (82 / 8 / 0)

Re: my Hero comments above . . . I remember everything in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon clearly. The originator, at least as far as what got exposure. I had a high school teacher my junior year who thought it was silly (he knew the genre better than novices like myself). Anyway, it'd probably make my list if I allowed foreign language flicks in.

>11. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
>(85 / 7 / 0)

On my list. Got around to buying the soundtrack recently (one of three score-soundtracks I own). I'd pay a decent chunk of change to see the reportedly much longer version that first premiered in Venice(?).

Haven't seen the Fox flick but I'm starting to think Wes should've been one & done with Rushmore.

>14. The Dark Knight (76 / 9 / 0)

Exactly where I had it on my list

>13. Wall-E (79 / 9 / 0)

Not bad but didn't live up to the hype. As far as the animated flicks only The Incredibles really has so far. Haven't seen Up yet tho.

>12. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (82 / 8 / 0)

Got worse with repeated viewings whereas Hero got better

>11. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
>(85 / 7 / 0)

Almost topped my list. Best combination of acting, score, & cinematography in the decade. Bar none.

I've never seen any of dude's movies. No great desire to.

>9. 25th Hour (97 / 7 / 0)

On my list. I agree that the top ten is a little high, but it's probably the second greatest script Spike has ever had. Barry Pepper and Edward Norton then supply the best performances to grace a Spike Lee movie since Tommy Davidson in Bamboozled and Denzel in He Got Game. But the more-than-solid foundation of a script is what Spike needs. Stylistically he'll always do something interesting, but he needs to be anchored in by a good story to make it really work.

>8. Memento (98 / 9 / 1)

In Ricky Ricardo voice to Lucy: JIGGA! Anyway . . . I give up. If we did a 90's list, I'd probably have the same reaction if The Usual Suspects showed up. And does this mean Christopher Nolan won the decade? lol

>7. Pan’s Labyrinth (109 / 9 / 0)

Devil's Backbone? Okay. The Spirit of the Bee-hive? Hell Yes. Pan’s Labyrinth? Nope.

>6. Children of Men (118 / 10 / 0)

I'll keep my comments to myself and just make believe this is a marker for Alfonso Cuarón and meant for Y Tu Mama Tambien. Or maybe it's a generic spot for apocalyptic films starring Julianne Moore and directed by Latin American filmmakers--you all meant Blindness, right?

And that means one of those and/or Lost in Translation didn't make the Top 50. I have to say I'm pretty surprised with these results. There is some real crap on here that I never thought would make even a Top 100 list.

I'm not. It was a lot easier to follow even though it might not be the better movie.

People haven't had the time to dig for those hidden gems yet? There were a few films that I included on my list that I just recently saw, even though they were released during the first half of the decade.

Feels too early to canonize something that just came out in the last 365? I probably was a little harsher on a couple movies from 2009 I thought were borderline when deciding if they should make the list versus something that came out earlier. That being said, four from last year did make my top 49, which seems "fair" enough when giving each year their (aproximately) equal share of space.

Anyway, I'm going reserve any other comments for when Sponge puts up the whole list and then all the individual submissions.

P.S. Thanks for doing this, Sponge. I was going to suggest doing something similar for other decades, but if only 18 people came to bat for the most recent decade . . . Anyway, thanks.

Wild Things

Revanche

only thing i saw in theaters was avatar, which i really dug but I don't know how much of that was the visual experience

caught hurt locker last week. i liked it but not that much

you're probably right though. there are too many movies i'm not big on the second time around, and others i don't really appreciate till they get a second look.

I say no, too.

Not in terms of canonizing, but I think it's never too early to rank a film no matter how recent one has seen it or if the film has been seen only once. I really dig it when someone doesn't care about how their ranking looks like tomorrow or next year. Right now is all that matters to me. However, I totally understand the point of view of being cautious knowing how one's reaction to a film can dramatically differ the second viewing of a film as soon as the next day even (in my experience).

I think OKPs have seen more films from the 90s, 80s, and 70s, respectively, than from the 00s so there might be more participants for any of them.

only because they're fresher in my mind, so the natural impulse (at least for me) is to hold them in higher regard than something that came out in 2000 and thus rank them higher than they should go at this time... I'm somewhat satisfied with my list...

Yeah, same here. Just looking at the acting, too, it's beyond DDL. Dano, O'Connor, the guy who played Bandy, Hinds, and the guy who played the guy whom Daniel threatened to cut his throat were all very good at the very least with the first 3 being excellent.

Besides the filmmaking prowess, putting religion and capitalism together, blurring the lines and seeing them interact and the pair of salesman (Daniel and Eli) make for a compelling watch for me.

especially on Dano! that's how good Day Lweis' performance was, Dano's excellent performance was overshadowed somehow by the pop cult crowd, even the ctirical circles...

and yes, we eye to eye on the latter parts of your statement. as a middle school social studies hired gun, i consistantly find myself breaking down and dispelling the mythos behind the moutain man / gold rush / manifest destiny white male that this film explores on so many levels. its really nothing to admire and praise as heroic... and Thomas did this without even incorporating the wretched history of America as it relates to Natives, Blacks, and Mexicanos, in that time period, in that region

its fallen out of my top 10. i've watched it so many times that ive come to understand that youth of colour cursing, gun tottin' in the third world, with a chic sountrack, and some interesting camera work does not make a par excelelnce film. it has a few holes in the character development and plot, its a bit too chaotic visually, and some times reeks of a symbolic third world exploitation and re-enforcer of stereotypes

Yeah thanks man. This is def interesting and some good debate material.

Still surprised Lost in Translation didn't make the Top 50. I thought that would be a default listing.

For whatever reason, time hasn't been kind to this movie

I have the feeling that if I were to catch it again on cable sometime that I'd still dig it, though I highly doubt others here would

Such is life

I'd like to thank the 18 producer-writers who showed some mercy and didn't let this film fade into bolivion, who helped Sack Lunch secure distribution. They helped turn this thing around 360 degrees. I tried to use The Jujyfruits and Sack Lunch as an escape goat for all the problems that, in my opinion, PTP was having. But at the same time, PTP is still the shit. Special shout out to the mods for, you know, the anchors and, you know, doing their part to increase participation.

I, too, like ricky_Butler thought of doing this type of thing for other decades or perhaps doing an all-time one or stuff like performances or one for comedies or something. So if enough people want to do something, I might be down to tabulate again.

Edit: I appreciate all the kind words. You're welcome.

That being said (c) Curb, I'd still do a list : )

People are pretty clued into 70s cinema. And most of us remember a decent amount of the 80s and 90s.

All-time would be fruitless unless you reach a higher threshold of voters. The pool is just too big and you'd get weird results with a small number of voters.

What do you think of the scene where the mom tries to get the help to jerk off her son? Motherly love taken too far? Or do you see it as something else? Despite not being a fan of the film, the final image is really, really something.

I think it's a film about confused, desperate love (or loves) in a hostile world. There is not a lot of psychological character in the film so I hesitate to read specific intent into any one action. But mostly these are sad characters bumping into each other and trying to find love in the best way they know how. There are some beautiful moments, some ugly moments, and some hard to read moments.

And plenty of moments that are at once beautiful, ugly, and hard to read. This is one of them.

(I also say this not having seen the film since 2006, so it's been a while since I saw the scene).

Of course, it'd end up being like half stupid comedies...and The Sandlot would probably make my top ten, but I still basically grew up in that decade so there are a fair amount of flicks I love from the 90s.

70s and 80s would be tougher because those are decades I've tried to cherry pick the things I feel like I'm supposed to watch, or things I've heard are great.

Film Comment, IndieWire, Village Voice/LA Weekly, LA Film Critics Association, Slant, and Cahiers du Cinema.

It also topped the Muriels (online writers and bloggers; blue23 posted about the 2009 edition the other day). So 7 if you count that, but I can't find a list of participants for that one.

And it finished 2nd in at least 2 others. In the Mood for Love topped it both of those.

I think it's a lot of fun, but it's fundamentally a TV pilot with some creative fixing at the end.

Lynch made the absolute best out of a shitty situation, but that doesn't change the fact that there's lots of stuff that would not justify its existence (all the subplots: Robert Forster, blonde hitman, etc.) if this was made as a stand-alone feature.

I think that "Five Obstructions" quality makes for fascinating viewing, but there's a reason Five Obstructions didn't make our top 50.

I think critics especially like films that offer a lot to write about.

and the movie touches on pretty much every human emotion...it's funny, it's fucking freaky (with one of the best "jump" scenes in film history), it's fucking weird, it'll make you horny, etc.

And it has very memorable, distinct scenes. And good performances.

It really has it all.

I'm going to just go ahead and be lazy and co-sign pretty much all the statements made below. I really don't get the outpouring for this film. I love Lynch and I wanted to like this movie. I saw it in the theater and hated it (minus two of the best lesbian scenes in cinema) - thought it would be written off. When it was praised again and again I retried on DVD and still didn't like it. The acting, besides Naomi Watts, is painfully terrible. I know, I know = that's the point! It's still sux. I think there are alot of loose ends that people have read alot into for me it's pretty flimsy and just not a good film. It does have some iconic stills though and those two scenes...

I'll un-cosign a few of your comments.

I genuinely like this film, despite it not being in my top 50. I like it in the same way I think a lot of critics liked Inland Empire (which I hated). It's a mess, but a fun mess from a master at the peak of his powers. Like Casino or One From the Heart.

If the acting bothers you I'm curious which Lynch films you love, because the tone/style of acting here doesn't seem that far from his norm.

And, yes, I think one shouldn't discount the impact of those two hot scenes on overwhelmingly male film critics.

Still it turned out better overall than I expected. I'm mad The White Ribbon didn't make a mark. And A Prophet (even people probably didn't think it counted - I checked and it is 2009 officially).

Actually quite a lot of my list didn't have much impact, which is kinda frustrating, but that's how it works I suppose. There's a good 10-15 films I haven't seen off that list anyhow, so I look forward to catching up on them.

"Victims" of limited distribution and timing, and I use quotes because I haven't seen them yet.

I genuinely think they'd be right near the top if more people had seen them.

Go seek either of them out tmrw, I (almost) guarantee you won't regret it.

Am I a little too jazzed on this film or something? I thought it was great, but I guess it's not completely friendly to Western audiences.

You can say the same for pretty much any other lower-ranked-than-expected Asian film (outside of WKW).

Personally I haven't seen Spring and..., though I have no good excuse.

Jesse's murder and the Jesse and Ed Miller sequence for me nowadays. Image-wise, train robbery hands down.

Dillahunt cracks me up because he's so fuckin' great in it. Plus, the shot in the dark. Talking about it is kind of making me want to see the flick again.

This is probably where our POV's are the closest. Although I'd definitely have Rodrigo Prieto (Brokeback, 25th Hour, Lust/Caution, Amorres Perros + more) on my list. Pfister and Lubezki = def in my Top 10.

Christopher Doyle would have to be at the top of my list.

Nice to see names here b/c I never made the connection about some of these guys resumes specifically Eric Gautier, Alwin Kuchler and Harris Savides.

Sorry I didn't get my final list in. I dug out my DVDs for everything I wanted to see or see again but couldn't finish them all. My current list is a little different, but it probably wouldn't have affected the final tally much.

>8. Memento (98 / 9 / 1)
Saw this in the theater and didn't like it. Don't think I'm much of a Nolan fan although I'd like to see The Prestige to be sure.

>13. Wall-E (79 / 9 / 0)
Need to see this. Blu-Ray sitting at home.

>14. The Dark Knight (76 / 9 / 0)
Had a feeling I wouldn't like this after seeing Batman Begins. It was worse than I expected.

>18. Yi Yi (66 / 3 / 3)
Need to see this again. I've seen and liked Yang's older films since seeing Yi Yi, so I really want to include it on my list.

>19. 2046 (65 / 6 / 0)
Need to see this again, maybe right after seeing Days of Being Wild and In the Mood for Love again.

>20. The Incredibles (64/ 7 / 0)
Need to see this

>23. Amores perros (54 / 3 / 1)
I might like this a little more now after seeing 21 Grams and Babel (which I had such high hopes for). Inarritu's films are missing something.

>24. Amelie (54 / 5 / 0)
Really didn't care for this one, although I liked A Very Long Engagement.

>30. Half Nelson (45 / 6 / 0; two top ten votes)
Need to see this. Liked Sugar.

>50. Finding Nemo
I guess I should see this since I've been on the ride at Disneyland.

>51. Traffic
Saw this in the theater and didn't like it. Don't remember why. Not sure why I hate Soderbergh when I haven't seen most of his films.

>53. Ratatouille
Want to see this

>54. Batman Begins
Bought the DVD the night before I saw The Dark Knight. Maybe Batman left too big of an impression on me as a 7th grader.

>59. Brokeback Mountain
Wonder if those that liked this have seen Happy Together
