"I Want to Try a Drama Experiment."

I'll name plays and musicals.
Respond in the appropriate place.
Tell us if you've seen it onstage, read it, or seen a film.
Then tell us your thoughts.

All the pieces I'll mention are major works of dramatic literature.
For clarity's sake, let me be the one to post new title, please.

My teacher in High School damned the Gibson one because it cut someone out (Fortinbras?) I can't remember. I liked reading it better than watching the film.

reserving self from making standard, knee-jerk response about Branagh's version being the best (I do seem to say that every time it comes up).

A high school production and a small professional production. I'm a fan. I should probably look to make a rip-off modern version rather than actually trying to come up with my own ideas.

and the plan for my senior project was for me to direct Travesties and the other directing major direct TIOBE, in rep, using all the senior acting majors and design majors, but we couldn't get dates for the theatre, so we ended up just doing A Delicate Balance

It's to the point where there's really no need/reason to do it.

I think this is a play you can't do a bad production of. Even the worst production of it seems to be at worst "decent".

In response to Reply # 10

They did a production of this in Philly last season (apparently good, but it's best to reserve opinions when it comes to quality and Philly theatre), and there was a big push to get new, non-theatregoers to see it. They had this big article in one of the local papers about it - where they revealed the ending.

Dope theater by the way. Decorated almost to the point of distraction ... during the production my eyes kept drifting up at that blue ass ceiling.

The show was good. I'm kind of a sucker for those 'new spin on an old story' types of tales and it didn't really disappoint in that respect. Acting and set design were on point. Music was good but didn't really stick with me for too long. Everyone else I was with loved the tunes though.

i've read it and seen the film version (which you can actually watch in its entirety on youtube, i think), and it's one of the most influential plays i've seen. completely changed my writing style, and i didn't even know it.
