"Mother Teresa Raped African Children!"

Watch as one man tries to battle her...

There's a new movie coming out which tells the story of an African Medicine Man that travels throughout Africa to help treat victims of the aids crisis. He and a band of traditional healers journey to the most remote and most devasted areas of the continent to cure men, women, and children of aids. He uses "energy field" practices that he learned from Tibetan schools of medicine to heal them along with traditional African herbal knowledge. He is successful in gathering instruction from elders and the anscestors alike in finding the exact cures that are needed for each village using the resources at hand. His only enemy is the Catholic church, who under the direction of Mother Theresa would actually scout ahead and spread rumors of the illigitimacy of the Medicine man's talents and abilities. She along with backing from the Church would poison drinking water and crops of anyone who would not obey. She met with leaders of certain groups and even use threats of murder in efforts to tarnish his name before he arrived. With their influence and power, her group had the ability to reach many of the continental groups and have this man appear as a monster. Mother Theresa was even said to have molested young girls in private and these stories were told on more than one account from many villages. Young men and little girls alike voiced their horrors of things she and her nuns did to them. The story is told as the medicine man in the movie is recounting the hurdles he overcame to reach those few groups he was able to save. The movie is said to be very exilerating as we watch the nameless medicine man race troughout the continent to save the children from the disease of AIDS, and what the children called the "evil witch" who had the ability to hypnotize the masses to her wicked actions with her "spirits".

This movie tells the stroy of an African hero that challenged what we all might think was an altruistic person. It's interesting to see that these films are finally coming out to tell the story...

The film is set across the many beautiful landscapes of Africa...and is described as visually stunning and breathtaking, not only for the scenes of nature, but for the very story itself which personifies good and evil by illustrating the conflict between natives, and their oppressors.

what do you think?

Evil people are "kooks". That is a very generalized statement that is quite offensive. I was born a Catholic and am a member of a family that is primarily, Catholic. "Kooks" don't exist here.

Anyway, the acts mentioned are horrible. Hopefully, this movie is seen by many only to exploit the despicable acts of a "saint". What a shame? There's no purity left in the world, except for the eyes of a baby.

***A MOMENT OF MUSIC APPRECIATION WITH M.O.P.!!!!***

BILLY DANZE: Kenny G? He's dope!
LIL' FAME: Kenny G is just like "God damn!" John Coltrane's alright but... I would buy a Kenny G CD. Coltrane's not like my era. But Kenny G, he makes music for black people and that shit is so beautiful. It's like the classical soul and the R&B soul when people sing, Kenny G plays that shit and makes it sound like it's singing, nigga!
BILLY DANZE: And Phil Collins, that's our homey, though! You don't like Phil Collins? You crazy! Phil Collins is dope, come on!
LIL' FAME: I bet if I do a song with Kenny G that shit would be huge. I'll do some brand new shit with Kenny G, and that would fuck everybody up. I would do it and then you'll label it a crossover. For real, I wanna do a song with Kenny G...

That's kinda messed up. So does that mean she (mother Teresa) didn't really molest little kids? If so, even though I don't agree with Catholicism on certain things, and I can see how people would see them as oppressors, that is slander. Especially since she is dead and can't say anything about it.

damn... it's official... your foul... simply put... Mother Teresa did a lot for her people in Calcutta and beyond... anyone who would take the time to denounce her efforts it's being straight up foul... granted the Catholic church is ill... no doubt.... they got their history... from the slave trade to helping Hitler get away... however... she was a special person who helped many many people... it's just wrong.

If you knew it was fiction you should have mentioned that in your initial post. You have created shock - not discussion. I'm personally disgusted, not because of some sense of catholicism, but because you are slandering a woman.

Who cares who she is - who cares if she is dead - but at this point at least 9 people have read and been affected by your irresponsible slander.

I'm disgusted by you. You are truly low.

Mother Theresa seemed pretty much immobile for the last decade or so of her life. The image of a frail, shriveled old woman loping furiously all up and down the coastline of Southeastern Africa should have been a giveaway.

I would have recommended a better, more tabloid-esque title for real shock value. Something like: 'Mama Mia! Theresa Terrorizes Tanzanian Tchildren!'

was a little extreme. but then again, so was Crazy Horse malt likkah (a brewer got the wonderful idea of intentionally naming a brand of malt liquor after the legendary native american spiritual leader, Crazy Horse, and then was surprised when the indians was mad).

from an experiment perspective, this prolly would have worked better on general. okactivist is pretty much the choir for most counter-mainstream thought (w/ the exception of a: a couple consistently, ahem, 'independent' thinkers like expertise who you can almost guarantee will be in a one person minority, even if the subject is the weather, and b: some extremely open -- some would say gullible ** cats who seem to take EVERYTHING in, sans salt grains).

nah... we assumed it was true because of the way it was written... as if we were learning some new information which would have ultimately forced us to take a new look at Mother Teresa... I was suspect from the get... I know people who have met her and her nuns and they have all stated she was a beautiful and kind woman... a woman who even in basic conversation could bring you to tears of joy... I'm sorry man but don't place the blame elsewhere... Utamaharo is just foul. Word.

as in the case of SOME posters (read: aquaman) we see how "new" information can be "lightly" accepted (read: possible) and "intriguing" just because it's "different" from the norm.

...all without even doing a bit of research. some people are so predictable. sad nonetheless, but predicatable.

Basically because there seems to be some kind of issue that people have between "creative/artistic licence" and "historical accuracy"...i wanted to "flip the script" so to speak on this whole movie thing.

one afternoon sitting at a juice bar (Mutana Live Juice bar for those that know) here in atlanta a group was speaking on the idea of "creative license" as it pertains to telling stories that are historically based. they were making the comparison between african storytelling and modern day western (read: american) storytelling, and the impact it has on the people.

so anyways, last night, per the replies from yesterday's post we came up with this little movie plot. one that basically slanders (by use of creative license that hollywood and artist like to use so much) Mother Theresa, while uplifting an african figure at the expense of blatant lies about a person.

i passed this around my office and not only did people believe it without so much as even a question as to whether the accusations were true (as some okayplayers did), but others (that i later found out were catholic) were appalled at the story, stating that a fictional movie should not blaspheme the name of a noted and respected humanitarian, especially since they were dead.

but has this happened before?

yes. yes it has. like poetx said...

the whole conversation in the juice bar was sparked by such films as "stargate" "the mummy" and "the prince of egypt"...movies that (at least the first two) claim to be fictional (as did the African Healer movie) yet at the same time butchered history because of it's "creative license".

how would a movie like this be judged by our society today? if this script were presented on C-SPAN as is, would it not be attacked? I would guess that it would. Yet and still the "creative license" which can be used to distort stories concerning "others", is considered heinous when coming back to the "roost". while this movie would NEVER get played in theaters because of it's disrespect of the dead...movies that distort the histories of others get millions...

yet another public announcement into american hypocrisy.

now back to your normally scheduled program.

yet in the movie he was made into an EVIL scorcerer.

the people of ancient egypt built marvelous structures. Matter of fact, the only Wonders of the Ancient World that still stand. (and of the 7, they are the oldest i might add...) Yet in a movie they were attributed to aliens.

In reality the nose of the sphinx was blasted off by europeans that ravaged through egypt...yet in the movies this and other changes are made in the cartoon, 'Prince of Egypt'.

All this, and yet my movie idea is "foul". Please?!?

Also, I agree that Hollywood is allowed to tarnish the image of historical figures to polish their bank accounts and confuse the masses. It's unfortunate and somebody needs to speak up on this on a national level. I think you should e-mail out this post to prove a point. Wonder how long it would take before it got the attention of the media...

But if this land was really what it was supposed to be (in a positive sense, not the rich white slaveowners having their say sense), people (including the media) would be able to voice their opinions freely without fear of rejection or intrusion by the government. I want to join the BPP starting up here and not be ostracized for it. I don't want my neighbors looking at me funny because I keep the Pan-African flag in my front window (glad my landlord hasn't complained).

Didn't Hitler get the Germans all overly patriotic right before the Holocaust?

Help me to understand something...

About this "creative license" thing. Do you believe that it is to some degree "wrong" to alter facts for a fictional story? I always considered "fiction" to mean " not true ". Basing a fictional story upon true historical events or figures could just be an easy way for writers to provide a setting for their stories/screenplays. Personally I do not see the harm in it, as long as it is made understood that the movie/book/story is fictional.
Also, the example that you used, a movie about Mother Teresa molesting children... This may have been a little extreme for your purposes. Yes it probably would have people up in arms even if it was a fictional script... but one might argue that ANY movie about a nun molesting children would meet its share of protesters. I might not exaclty have my finger on the pulse of America, but last time I checked everybody here was in pretty unanimous agreement that child molesting was a bad thing.
How you can compare your made up movie to movies like "The Mummy" and "Stargate" is leaving me with some questions as well. What historical figure(s) was/were slandered in these films? And how so?

>>>>yet another public announcement into american hypocrisy.
Hmm. Could you elaborate? How is this "hypocrisy" and furthermore, how is it specifically " american ".

...and as far as creative license is concerned, I really don't have a problem with it. cuz any group that doesn't deal with truth "globally" will certainly not deal with it in specific areas (i.e. movies). i'm just pointing something out as to american hypocrisy...and how easy it is to persuade the masses with "non-truths". as seen in this post. people will easily buy into things that "sound nice"...as well as not look up shit. and being that film and tv have the most impact on the masses, imagine how many people have misperceptions about even the simplest stuff.

i had a discussion with lazyboi today in general discussion about protein and vegetarianism that would have NEVER happened if "the masses" didn't buy into the whole "meat is protein" thing...

* standing a safe rhetorical distance from uta... and his frankensteinesque social experimentation *

there is fiction and then there's fiction. most fiction contains elements of truth. the issues lie with what's fabricated, and why. the storyteller has the right to tell his story, but massive repetition of the same story, or the enforced absence of other stories can change the equation.

>I always considered "fiction"

people, by and large, don't understand the idea of 'license', or even context. take stories of the nativity, for instance. how many of us know (including christians, i only found out recently -- reading is fundamental) that the three wise men, according to scripture, were not at christs' birth, and came to hit him off w/ the frankinsense and myrrh when he was 2 years old?

similarly, there's mad people who watch the 10 Commandments every year, and swear that Charleston Heston and crew are scripturally correct (let alone historically correct, but i digress).

> Also, the
>example that you used, a
>movie about Mother Teresa molesting

Agreed. Gnat + Sledge Hammer = overkill.

>historical figure(s) was/were slandered in

there are posts in archives (you can probably search on imhotep to find) where more has been written, and actual sources provided, but in brief, he was the architect of the first pyramid, the vizier to the pharoah zoser/djoser, was a poet, astronomer, AND a prodigious physician, whom the Egyptians and later the Greeks deified. the greeks referred to him as the god aesculapius, and his name is part of the so-called Hippocratic Oath which every modern doctor swears. many of Hippocrates credited writings have been proven to be copies of egyptian medical papyrii which pre-existed them by at least 1,500 years, and are presumed to have been authored by Imhotep.

so, to reduce this cat to some evil sorcerer type in Mummy 1 & 2 is like, completely overboard. i don't know enough about the writers producers of the movie to determine whether this was a deliberate pimp-slap of afrocentric scholarship, or merely some guy searched for all the egyptian names he could find and thought it sounded neat, lemme throw this in there.

still, this is considered ancient history, regardless of your viewpoint, political slant, background, etc. maybe utamoroho should have created a movie defaming charlemagne or some ish like that (instead of mother teresa) for the comparison to have been more apples/apples.

but in truth your not proving a damn thing... maybe to yourself... but to anyone else... it's just a waiste... bottom line people will always be mislead... but the reason why some were mislead here is cause you post on here every single day... EVERY SINGLE DAY (and while I see some issues with that that's another story all together)... it's just today you decide to pull a experiment and expect your results to be true... which they are less truth and just more misleading if anything... bottom line, people since the beginning of time have been mislead... and others have seen through the bullshit. Case and point, you also seem to think your the final word on Aliens... as if cause U said it... it's true. That's misleading yourself... it's limiting yourself... there experiment done.

Oe on one he's proven himself "inadequate" on more than one occasion. best thing to do is to ignore him...that's what "I" do anyways, as well as everyone he's ever responded to it seems...

nah... what I'm saying is the point is wack, point blank... I can't see where anyone on here even fell for it... if anything heads were just like "Oh word, a flick about that? Hmmm" it's not like you had heads on here denouncing their faith, I'm not a Christian but still... so my point is this little wack ass project only worked with U and her close nerd friends. Keep posting.

Noting the people that believed was only a small point VASTLY overshadowed by the MAJOR point, which was:

Look at how pissy everyone is about this example...and then look at this example being replicated on a regular basis around you (without people getting pissy).

You have certainly proven the point here. I think that many of the people that replied and hastily accepted the post as truth are really embarassed now. Hopefully, we all carry this learning forward.
