"Jordan; Courts; Divorce."

WARNING: This will piss alotta folks off.

ANOTHER WARNING: I don't care.
___________
It's been on my mind ever since I heard about it on the Tom Joyner Morning Show...monday I think. Of course, Jordan in and of himself doesn't bother me, however, the particulars of this issue do, in accordance to the civil court system as well as punishing success.

All rhetoric and ideology aside, let's be realistic about this.

Juanita Jordan:

1. Never hit a jumpshot in the NBA.
2. Never made a fadeaway jumper in the NBA.
3. Never slammed over anyone in the NBA.
4. Never won the NBA MVP award.
5. Never played an NBA game before in her life.

If it's true that, at least according to Forbes, Jordan has amassed an estimated $400 million estate, exactly why should she be worth half? SHE HASN'T DONE SHIT!

It would be different if they had attained a fortune side by side with her right in the thick of things, i.e. Linda McMahon were to divorce Vince McMahon, or something to that extent. But there is no kind of spin you can put on this issue: Juanita Jordan does not deserve half of Mike's hard-earned fortune for anything short of Mike drowning his kids in a bathtub. Period.

This issue will definitely expose one thing: the civil court system is blatantly sexist. It's no wonder people are staying single in higher proportions than before: If I work my ass off, the only one supporting the family and bringing fame and prestige with it, then I'll be DAMNED if I'm going to let some woman take half because she feels we have "irreconcilable differences". That's bullshit.

I don't care if I only have a tin cup full of water, dammit, you ain't taking half that water.

let's be realistic on the other side too though...the man plays a game. you make it sound like he broke his back all his life...fool plays a game!

she did do something too...she put up with his career, she supported him in it. that is significant. maybe not $200M significant, but he knew what he was getting in to when he maried her. it was 1990 right? bulls were HUGE by this time. he married her anyways. these are the risks you run in marriage.

by the way, i am not defending her here, just mixing it up a bit.

Doesn't matter how he made it, the point is, he made it. It wasn't illegal, hence it's his and he earned it.

"putting up with his career" doesn't hold water. It's Jordan that's on the road, playing 82 games/yr, along with holding the other commitments and endorsements that goes along with Jordan. What does she have to do? Sit her ass in that big ass mansion in Chicago, labeled with the city's most famous surname. Yeah, my heart bleeds for her.

She should get a couple mill (Jordan can probably pull that out his wallet), but that's it.

Now it's time for Conversations with Expert:

DIVA: How was your Thanksgiving?
Expert: blah. Had to stay in Atlanta and work Friday. Mom's was salty.
DIVA: She was probably salty because that's the holiday everyone comes home on.
Expert: Nah, that aint it. More people came come on Labor Day than Turkey Day, which was the last time I was home. I think she said only my uncle came home this time. I think she was salty because this is the first Turkey Day I've ever missed since 93.
DIVA: ha ha...you and your damned statistics.
Expert: hey, they're what makes the world go round. *shrugs*

Well she did have to sit in her mansion without the companionship of the man she married. All men seem to think that being a mother and a wife doesn'tean shit. WAKE UP! Just cause the man makes all the money does not mean his wife deserves nothing. I am sure while Jordan was off "playing his game" she was at home taking care of their child. So no she does not deseve half or what he has beccause he sis earn it. But she does deserve a lot, besides how much is it gonna hurt him to give his wife enough money to live? He is filthy fucking rich, he can afford to live without a little bit of it. Jesus, the man is a basketball player, he is not winning any nobel prizes. Thats my two cents.

There's a problem with that idea: she doesn't want to be his wife anymore. Hence he's not really obligated to her for a penny.

Like I said; a couple mill, yeah. But not $200 mill.

where did you hear that she didn't want to be his wife anymore? from what i recall, the last time he retired he said he was going to concentrate on his family and spend more time with them. although i'm speculating like everyone else, i would bet that she did not want him to return to the nba. the bottom line is that he chose his career over his wife and family.

You see, when you obtain a DIVORCE, that means you don't want to be married to someone anymore.....when a MAN is not MARRIED to a WOMAN anymore, that means she can't be considered his WIFE. Now, ADDING 2+2 together, that means if you get a DIVORCE that MEANS a woman doesn't want to be that man's WIFE.

Class is over.

u took the words out of my mouth *insert gasface emoticon*

...if I were a superhero, I'd be Had-It-Up-to-Here Woman, sneaking around grocery stores, malls, and amusement parks all over the world. With lightning speed, I'd snatch up bad azz kids and give them three swift licks with my golden switch and vanish into thin air before anyone knew what happened...

Pet Peeve of the Month:

Okay, I'll give it to you. Technically you do meet the requirements to be here. But be considerate. Just because the sign above the express lane in Wal-Mart says "20 items or less" does not mean that you should take your 19 item holding cart to the lane and hold up the rest of us who only want to buy a package of toilet paper.

Look over to your left...yeah, up in the corner. As a suggestion, you may want to take two.

If u talkin to me.

Both post are a follow up to the one of

..."bottom line he chose his career over his wife and family"

I was commenting of simple nasty things that some women would do under "VOODOO" to get their men in tow.All in the food. All about the food.

There are some women who would have Jordan speaking shortly to reporters after games, coming home til practice times and issuing him an allowance from his millions and he would never complain.

Cheating/Divorce=Not in "VODOO" women catagory.

if Mike doesn't mind giving up half, why do you care?? It's not like he doesn't have the money to spare. As far as the wealth he's amassed, let's not forget that image plays a HUGE role in endorsement deals so having a wife and 3 children enhanced his image as the ultimate athlete/man. She had to have been giving the man some kind of support, he didn't mind fathering 2 more children with her.

...if I were a superhero, I'd be Had-It-Up-to-Here Woman, sneaking around grocery stores, malls, and amusement parks all over the world. With lightning speed, I'd snatch up bad azz kids and give them three swift licks with my golden switch and vanish into thin air before anyone knew what happened...

Michael's wife and children do very little with his image, especially since this is the first time people have even seen or heard about his wife and kids. Jordan's image has been made because he is a winner, both in athletics and in business. Either way you put it, Juanita STILL isn't worth $200 mill.

Jordan's wife has the power right now to completely destroy Jordan and his "super nigger." image.

Still, we do not know all the facts yet.

Maybe Jordan gave her Aids, herpes or something
Maybe he abused her.
Maybe she had to live a lie the entire marraige.

We do not know.

I couldn't imagine living a life where my husband is so famous that he puts security cameras in his kids' schools for their safety. You can't go anywhere alone with anonymity. Every woman in the world wants your husband. He's so busy where the marriage feels more like a business agreement (I imagine since he would be on the go so much). Not to mention, we don't know what else she went through.

Getting half his money is a bit much, but it's customary to ask for more than you want so that you can bargain. She might $15 million and a couple of homes, but she had four of his babies and that's priceless.

She's worth whatever the courts say she's worth. Why the hostility?? She's not your wife. The "Juanita Bashing" thing is a bit harsh when Michael could be solely/equally responsible for the breakdown of their marriage. Dayum, all she did was marry the guy after he got her pregnant. Sounds like they both knew what they were getting into.

These laws were meant to protect women from being left poor if their man dropped them for something a little younger and cuter.... BUT...

I'd say she's entitled UP TO half if Jordan was leaving her. In that situation, it's assumed she's been trying to make things work but MJ wants to move on. Doesn't mean GIVE her half.

But she's living him. Which means she feels she can do better (in life... not financially) without him. So let her go. He'll support the kids but nothing else.

Anyway the moral of the story.... Be wary marrying someone with more knowledge about money than you. She's a banker so I'm sure she made sure her name was next to his on EVERYTHING.

the fact that she's the one who filed for divorce does not mean that "she's leaving him". he left her when he made the decision to return to the nba. from what i understand, he moved to dc by himself since joining the wizards.

On Jordan:

I said this before in another forum in regards to
their split....

Whomever has custody of the children should have
the house---without question.

With that said, all child support payments should
be to support the lifestyle of the children. It
should ensure that they are fed, clothed, and
properly educated.

Does Juanita Jordan deserve half of Michael Jordan's
fortune? No.

If the divorcer is able-bodied, and of sound mind,
there is no reason why the settlement agreements
should exceed anything that promotes and provides
continued comfortability for the children.

The regular female leavin her husband because of abuse, cheating, or "irreconcilable diffs", usually ends up in the poor house and two classes lower than before. Even if she had an education and a job before they got married, she might not have had to support any kids.

Not saying this is Juanita's case at all, cuz she's set, if he gave her nothing but the house(I know she ain't stupid,), but you made a generalization about women that wasn't correct.

Apparently for a reason. The courts are skewed towards women in these situations because the reality is most men really don't want the wife's job or role. You pay the costs to be the boss.

Whining is bogus.
Michael has been needlessly turned into a demigod.

Marriage is a contractual agreement to build a life together - romantically, financially, spiritually, & physically. We do not know any of the particulars of the romantic or spiritual aspects of their marriage, but we do know that physically they brought 3 lives into this world AND financially they are worth an estimated $400 million. Yes, *they* are worth $400 mil. not just Michael.

We brothas need to stop whining & accept responsibility for our decisions. Micheal decided to wed Juanita. Michael decided to have 3 children with Juanita. Micheal knew the ramifications of each of those decisions (& countless others) regarding Juanita.

Yes, Juanita deserves whatever a court of law will allow her & much more. Do not marry anyone unless you are able to understand the legal aspects of such a partnership. Do not have sex (protected or otherwise) unless you are prepared to be connected to that person for the rest of your life (i.e., baby-makes-three).

Any man or woman who enters into marriage is entering into a partnership, divided up any way the partners see fit. In any partnership there are roles and responsibilities. Juanita Jordan has three kids. I don't even have to know her to understand that raising three kids while the husband is on the road, making deals, etc. is a hard job. So is playing sports. But that was the partnership and each person is responsible for that, including deciding when to break up and what the terms are.

People don't value marriage or see it for what it really is. It's not an easy way out. The partnership itself takes hard work, especially the first few years. Regardless of what Michael Jordan does for a living he is/was someone's husband/partner and what he and Juanita decide about their marriage is their business. It's beyond the basketball court, the stadium, etc.

However.

HALF!
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

What, did she not want him to come out of the game.
That which in part earned the $400Million,whatever.

Just maybe someone up in there deposited at least $1 Million, greater $5 Million dollars in the bank, untouchable for the children along the way.

The house.Ok.
The Restaurant
$50 Million-OK
The restaurant will keep up the house essentials and provide for the children.

Not knowing the real issue at hand, but still not no half!

Ok this topic was the main conversation at work this morning.

1) She wants half of his assets.
2) She wants the house.
3) She wants "sole" custody of the kids.

We came to the assumption that the woman has got to be pissed about something to ask for half and sole custody of the kids. She filed in Illinois where paternity suits don't hold water, or at least in the particular section she filed in. So why is she so pissed?

Is it because he said he retired this last time because he had nothing more to prove and was going to spend more time with his family? Guess he spends lots and lots and lots of time with them now. Now that he is playing again. Now that he is always in Washington and not with them in Chi. That could be one reason.

The other that we (women and some men) agreed on was that he supposedly had an affair with a woman. I'm trying to research that info now, so I could use some help on resources. The other is that the woman filed a paternity suit against him about 4 years ago. That would be enough reason for me. But I wouldn't wait four years to step.

Yes she did support him those 12 years. No she didn't make any of that money (she supposedly is running one of his companies, again this is hearsay). No she didn't play ball. But he did provide her with the lifestyle she has. So with that said, he is going to have to maintain her way of life that he provided her (alimony). She did help/support him in the building of that empire. And they did have children together.

Do I think she deserves half?? Well, I feel that she is pissed to ask for sole custody. So something went really wrong there. Then again it could be the fact that she pretty much has sole custody of them now. But she didn't even file for joint. Anyway, main point, she's pissed. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. If he abused the sacred rights of marriage, yes she should/will get half. Sad, but true. But if he was dumb enough to do it, you make your bed hard, you have to lie in it.

I'm trying to find articles now on a possible paternity test filed against him, so if anyone knows any links, please help.

So said Mrs. Jordan was going to file a Paternity suit, then Mike asked her to marry him.Wed in Vegas.

I mean, true he slept with her making him just as responsible for the baby, but Hmmmmm, did he really want to marry?

Some marry and it is who they want, still cheat.
Worse marriage is the forced one.
Still no not the circumstances, but plenty flying he cheated?
What was the story about the starlet?

If started on a rock road, why keep having babies.

Women are responsible for Not getting pregnant.

Men are responsible for "Condom Sense".

Sometime women do say "I AM ON THE PILL".I say "CONDOM SENSE MEN".

Now the Michael Jordan story I saw depicted a loving courtship.
Who gave info on the story.Hmmmmm!Yada!

NOPE!NOT HALF!

Never thought this would happen, but............

I agree with Expertise, 100 effin percent.

I'm sick and tired of women agreeing to marry a man, agreeing to do their part in raising the kids, agreeing to stay home, etc, etc....and demanding payment after the fact.

You agreed to do those things, as part of the arrangement, you got to take advantage of the man's wealth, if any payment was due, you received it whilst you were married to the man.

By the same logic these women want to use, the man should hand the woman a bill for everything he bought for her and any financial support he gave.

Something like:

Okay hon, the marriage is over and I've prepared an invoice:

You owe me $X for:

The Engagement Ring
Three Cars
9,254 Meals
Mortgage & Rent Payments
The furniture you got to enjoy
245 Trips to the mall

But um, I doubt any of these "I'm taking 1/2 women" would go for that, now would they.

The way I see it, the woman should get HER SHARE, not half, of any assets she helped build. For instance, let's say I got married *shudders* and my wife and I pooled our money to buy a primary residence as well as a beach house. Let's say I paid 60% of the costs, and she paid 40%.

In a case like that, she should get 40% of the value of the properties, nothing more nothing less.

That's how all joint assets should be split.

If there are children involved, the woman should receive money from the man in order to pay for the child's care...NOT to set her up in the lifestyle that she had before.

This "I'm taking half" nonsense, is nothing more then the following:

-Revenge in order to hurt the man since the marriage is over

-Jealousy that the man is going to keep his lifestyle without her and/or enjoy it with another woman.

You marry a person, not their wealth, anything they have is a perk, you leave, you leave behind that person AND their assets.

It's like if you marry a man who is good with fixing cars, if you divorce him, you don't get to sue to keep him fixing your car.

Anyway, I'm realistic, I know that even though I'm anti-marriage, chances are, I'll end up relenting OR ending up someone's common law wife....if we date and live together long enough..

SO, there will be Iron Clad prenuptial agreement, you take what you brought to the table, or your share of what you helped build.

Furthermore, I'd maintain separate bank and investment accounts, (In addition to joint ones) Marriage doesn't mean that you get to spend all my money.

If I smell trouble, you best believe I'd start moving my assets to other states, signing over cars/homes to my Mom & Sister, etc.

Just in case.

So if she tries to take half, all she could get is the joint account (Of which I would've cleaned out) and the $100 I'd leave in my personal account...in that state.

Sorry Hon, Sold the houses and the cars to my Mama, so you'd better hand over the keys of the one you're driving before she calls the cops on you.

Money and Investments? Sorry I seem to have misplaced them...but here, I have $50 in my bank account, have fun.

Shoot, My Dad and an Uncle are in a situation where the former got caught in a common law wife situation without a prenup and the latter got married without one, and are with women who aren't going to leave whilst they can enjoy their loot....and My pops and uncle are scared to leave because they don't want to lose everything.

Sad.

she should get half . And I'm quite sure that Jordan will pay her half.

Why do I think she should get half :

1. He was only making a mil when she met him , his finances improved greatly when he got married because of his endorsements.

2. Most of his endorsements are for "family" products. MJ the single man vs MJ the family man.MJ the single man is going to be in every tabloid in the world soon. His womanizing will be out in the open now. He will not be able to push the same products. Shit his children and wife are in commercials. Do you think he would have been offered Space Jam if he didn't have kids ! NO. And his endorsements are what built his fortunes. He didn't start making money in the NBA until his last 2 years as a Bull, prior to that rookies were making more money than him.

Shit happens

-A mil from the Bulls...maybe, but he was making a lot more then that (to my knowledge) from endorsements...at the time.

What did she have to do with the endorsements? Did she make the deals? Pitch MJ to potential advertisers?

MJ would've gotten those deals regardless, his family life was rarely in the public eye and his stature as a celebrity, sports Icon and pitchman was because of his skill on the court and charisma off of it, it had nothing to do with his marriage.

He was already the most popular athlete on earth (By far) before the Wedding, so it's basically a moot point.

#1. What does his making more money afterwards have to do him giving the wife half?

I'll tell......NOTHING, it's called the natural progression of a career, you make more money in the later stages then in the beginnning, it's independent of you being married or not.

Look at it like this:

Let's say I get married this year, my wife stays home and "keeps house". Over the next 10 years, I get my Law Degree, an MBA, I keep moving up the ladder and making more and more money. My investments and savings grow, I accumulate property and wealth, etc, etc.....all through the hard work and sacrifice I put into my career.

Now let's say my Wife files for divorce around year 11, what did she do to help me make that money and build that wealth, especially since I would've/will do it without her anyway?

NOTHING!!!

People just want to keep the lifestyle and leave the man, sorry, you can't have your cake and eat it too.

#2. You don't need to be a family man to push Gatorade, Nike, Rayovac, Sprint, Hanes Underwear, Ballpark Franks.....those were his major endorsements. No one was thinking about his family when they saw him pitch those products, they were thinking about him.

On top of that, his wife and kids were in very few commercials.

MJ isn't going to lose advertisers because of the divorce, he generates so much sales that it would be stupid of them to do so.

#3. MJ's stature in the eyes of kids was the reason he got Space Jam, kids would look up to him regardless of whether or not he had a family, kids are kids, they aren't that cerebral (and neither is the general public) when it comes to pitchmen/heroes.

Little kids look up to Shaq, look at the kids movies he's done, he's not a married family man.

Larry Bird was in a Seasame Street movie and he wasn't a married family man either.

His being married to Juanita had nothing to do with his big NBA contract his last two seasons.

You don't credit/money, just for showing up/being around.

Peace,

M2

He got married in September of 89, this was right before the beginning of his sixth season in the NBA, and a year before his first championship...he already had about 4 or 5 scoring titles more endorsements then anyone else, every arena he played in was guaranteed to sellout, he was most definitely the most popular athlete on the planet by then.

Who can you think of, who was more popular then Jordan at the dawn of the 89-90 season?

Furthermore, his wife was rarely mentioned, his family was out of the public eye, people knew he was married, but I doubt it was a major selling point.

The commercial said be like Mike for what he does on the court, not how he is with his family.

Larry Bird never got married, never hurt his fame.

Look at the major products:

Nike, Gatorade, Pepsi, Rayovac, Hanes, Sprint, you don't need to be married to market those.

Finally, he had some of the best marketing minds in the country behind him, even if the marriage helped him (Which it didn't) if he's single, they simply promote him as one of the world's most eligible bachelors and find new ways to make money of off him.

Just because he made more money after the marriage, doesn't mean it was BECAUSE of the marriage, it was more a factor of his fame growing, which was direct attributable to what he did on the court.

A 3-peat and an Olympic Gold Medal will do that for a man.

You give Juanita too much credit.

1) most women end up poorer after divorce & caring for their children with less. Men generally are better off after divorce, start new families and often ignore the old one. Sso al lthis tired of women getting paid after marriage shit just ain't flying..

Jordan didn't have to marry Juanita..he did without a premup & now he pays. Lesson learned, keep your dick in your pants or just protection to avoid impregnating someone you'd rather not breed with. And don't marry her & make more babies if you're going as a response to so-called "pressure". And don't do dirt that your wife can bring back on ya when you're in the public eye.

He'll pay, especially if the gambling, cheating, and outside rumros are true or worse than what's been talked.

Amen. Why is everyone acting like she's some gold-digger all of a sudden? No one really know what the hell goes on in that house. Obviously they built that wealth together!!! All those years of marriage does account for something! Also, he obviously didn't think she was a scandalous trick if he married her and 3 kids by her. If all of you anti-juanity folks were married to someone with all of that money would you ask for the obligatory $500/mo. for child support? I don't think so!

Many of you don't take into account how Mike has KEPT his money and earned more.

Like one poster said any fool can play the game, and thats very true, but to make money (BIG MONEY) and be able to keep it you need some smarts. Actually Juanita has those smarts. Jaunita's not some regular groupie hoe out to make cash, she's truly a business woman and very business minded. Who do you think kept his assets in order while he was running up and down the court, traveling, making flicks, producing more shoes for fools to kill themselves over, thats right...Juanita.

Juanita's pops is some big wig in the Chi- who deals with either marketing or advertising-I can't remember which one but she learned his trade. With all the money Jordan was making he had to open a corporation to do business with. This corp. is who Nike, Warner Bros., Jeep and whoever else signs contracts to when doing business. In dealing with business a corp serves as a backdrop in case Jordan is sued, preventing whoever sues him from taking his personal assets such as houses, cars, accounts, etc. This way the Corp is sued, not Jordan directly, and if need be the Corp could file for bankruptcy allowing Jordan to still live high on the ho
Now who runs this joint when Jordans not around, and he was rarely around, (drum role please.....) Juanita.

When they first got married I questioned 'Why did Jordan marry her? She's not even all that pretty'. Now I here that Jordan married her because she was pregnant, but that makes no since.
Why not just support one kid you might have to shelve out one mil a year to, instead of marrying a person only to end up divorcing and having to split all your assets?

Now if Jordan thought it would be cheaper to marry her, then he's not too bright. But we all know Jordan is no dummy and truth be it he knew Juanita had the smarts to handle business, not to mention she stood behind him all this time never stealing lime light.

Together they built his empire. Where he went wrong was getting back into the game. Why did he go back? Didn't we all hear him talk about staying at home with the kids? Why return to play a suckky game when you've retired being the best in the world?Something is fishy and I wouldn't be surprised if Jordan is in some kind of trouble, remember what happened to his dad(may he r.i.p), not to mention his gambling habit. Perhaps Juanita is saving herself and the kids from his conflicts. Maybe they've planned this in order to get him out of some conflict.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it;)

To my knowledge, that corp was set up long before married Juanita. It's standard practice when you have a big name like that.

IF, she really did set up and ran the thing and is such a good business woman, why didn't she:

A. Have investments and businesses on the side?

B. Sue for her share of said corporation since she supposedly helped set it up? Her lawyer would have to be on crack not to do that, after all, that's worth more then his current fortune because you're guaranteed a share of all his future earnings.

C. What about his agent/business advisors? He assuredly had those before her, if you're going to break it down like a business what about their contributions vs. hers?

She wasn't responsible for all the deals and endorsements he entered into, I don't care who her father was.....especially since a lot of them were just more lucrative versions of things he had going before her that just grew over time.

So, even if she did contribute it a lot, it still doesn't equal 1/2..for one she'd go after the corp, and two any business person knows that to justify half, you have to have contributed half of some combination of the financial capital, intellectual capital and sweat equity towards the business.

Peace,

You asked:
<<IF, she really did set up and ran the thing and is such a good business woman, why didn't she:
A. Have investments and businesses on the side?>>

--Who said she didn't. Juanita was holding her own before Jordan as well.

<<B. Sue for her share of said corporation since she supposedly helped set it up? Her lawyer would have to be on crack not to do that, after all, that's worth more then his current fortune because you're guaranteed a share of all his future earnings.>>

--She just might be suing for that as well. One thing though is that Mike is the face of the business and will continue to make money from that which means she'll continue having her alimony paid. Perhaps she has sued for half of the company or her investment into it.--

<<C. What about his agent/business advisors? He assuredly had those before her, if you're going to break it down like a business what about their contributions vs. hers?>>

--Lawyers, agents, advisors, etc. all get paid regardless of what happens to Jordan. They do have other clients you know. As for Juanita, Jordan is/was her husband and most power couples work together on equal terms such as Babyface and Tracy Edmonds. There in the stuff together and if one goes broke, all go broke.-

<<She wasn't responsible for all the deals and endorsements he entered into, I don't care who her father was.....especially since a lot of them were just more lucrative versions of things he had going before her that just grew over time.>>

--True he had things going before her, but besides a shoe contract, his shit wasn't that big. Not to mention many stars have shit going for them at some point and time, just look at Hammer. But not all handle their money and do it well. It would be one thing if Juanita were to make him go bankrupt, but 200 mil for Jordan is penny change. She could have messed him up a long time ago, like when he decided to play baseball, but she didn't. Actually she could get more than what she's asking for.--

<<So, even if she did contribute it a lot, it still doesn't equal 1/2..for one she'd go after the corp, and two any business person knows that to justify half, you have to have contributed half of some combination of the financial capital, intellectual capital and sweat equity towards the business.>>

--The same goes for a house wife whose husband is a big wig. If the judge finds that she has provided her spouse 'sweat equity' worth half his earnings and in contribution to his higher earnings, she will get it. Not to mention child support.--

I'm not saying Juanita should just dog Jordan. Truthfully I wish they could get some good marriage counseling and work that ish out. But life is not fair, nor is the judicial system.

It says in her Divorce petition that she has NOTHING, she can't even pay for the Divorce Lawyers, part of her suit, is to get Jordan to pay for her Lawyers.

><<B. Sue for her share of said corporation since she supposedly helped set it up? Her lawyer would have to be on crack not to do that, after all, that's worth more then his current fortune because you're guaranteed a share of all his future earnings.>>

>or her investment into it.--

She isn't, she's suing for the house, custody of the kids and 1/2 of his assets, the corporation isn't even mentioned. The way the petition is worded, she wants 1/2 of his personal assets, NOT control or equity in any corporate entities.

I've read numerous cases where a spouse of a major CEO, sued (successfully) for part of her Husband's ownership in various business entities. Just read the Forbes 400 list, and there are plenty of women who got their wealth by divorce.

If she was a good businesswoman, helped build the thing, and her lawyers have two brain cells, she'd sue for that. Because when Jordan retires for good, you best believe he'll own a basketball team again, not to mention being involved in numerous other businesses.

With sound financial Mgt. that corp could be making more in Jordan's 50s, 60s and on, then he's making now, so why isn't it mentioned?

Is it offlimits to her because of the way it was set up, (E.g. She didn't have a significant involvement) or does she just lack the knowledge to understand what's going on and to go after it?

>
><<C. What about his agent/business advisors? He assuredly had those before her, if you're going to break it down like a business what about their contributions vs. hers?>>

That's not what I meant, I meant that all of those people have made significant contributions to building Jordan's wealth as well, how is it that her contribution is quantified as being worth 1/2 when she may not have made a contribution worth that much?

Babyface and Tracy are in the public eye together, they work together, they do projects together and on their own, you can't say the same for Jordan and Juanita.

After all, how many people would recognize her as compared to recognizing him?

Whilst most people who would recognize Babyface, would recognize Tracy.

200 Million isn't penny change when it's your 200 million, plus that's 1/2 of what he has, so it's not penny change.

She would never get more then half.

What does she have to do with how he handles his money? That's more a function of him and his advisors then her.

Just because he got really big afterwards, doesn't make her responsible. As it is, he was already the most popular athlete on the planet when he married her, it doesn't seem that way because he's so much MORE famous now, but he was.

None of this, makes a strong case for her getting half.

>
><<So, even if she did contribute it a lot, it still doesn't equal 1/2..for one she'd go after the corp, and two any business person knows that to justify half, you have to have contributed half of some combination of the financial capital, intellectual capital and sweat equity towards the business.>>

>I'm not saying Juanita should just

But that's what we're discussing, is getting 1/2 fair?

IMHO, he should pay for all expenses related to the kids, he should give her the house and pay all expenses related to the house, as well as for a car for Juanita.

On top of that, I'd say an allowance of $500,000 or so, but that would have to be tied into how much money he's earning. So if he's in a situation where he doesn't have an income from a business, endorsements or working the allowance would go down.

If all your bills are paid and you have 1/2 a mill to spend, you're lifestyle isn't going to suffer.

Peace,

I love your analysis. The way you break it down, if Juanita was really playing a major role in how his money was managed, then it makes every sense why she should be paid, although, I still don't know if she is entitled to half.
However, your next statement is very annoying:
>
>When they first got married I
>questioned 'Why did Jordan marry
>her? She's not even all
>that pretty'.

So she has to be "all that pretty" to get married to him??? I don't think she is mega goregeous but is that the only reason people get married these days? Forgive me if I come across as insulting but as intelligent as your analysis was, the issue of pretty enough was down right stupid! Who is to say that he thought she WAS pretty enough. Besides why must that be a major criteria??

Now I here
>that Jordan married her because
>she was pregnant, but that

>Why not just support one kid
>you might have to shelve
>out one mil a year
>to, instead of marrying a
>person only to end up

My understanding was that his PR informed him that he would loose millions of dollars in endorsements as having a child with a woman he is not married to , would not present a good image and contradict the "family man" appearance, many of these companies were trying to sell. Consequently, he married her. Well if this is the case, how ironic it would be because he will still have to end up giving a good portion of it to Juanita.

>Together they built his empire.
Jordan built his empire of of one thing, his game. Juanita has nothing to do with his with the progression of his game. He put in hours of practice at the gym way before Juanita was in the picture. Take her away and Mike will still have become the greatest basketball player.

>Where he went wrong was getting >back into the game. Why did he >go back? Didn't we all hear him talk about staying at home with >the kids? Why return to play a suckky game when you've retired >being the best in the world?
Do you know anything about sports? The hardest thing for a pro athlete to do is walk away from the game. Their careers are so short what else is there for them to do with their time. You think he was going to stay at home with an apron preparing meal for the kids? He went back to doing what he loves which is baskeball. If you know about hiis retirement, you know that he didn't leave on his terms. He wanted to play a few more years.

>Something is fishy and I wouldn't be surprised if Jordan is in >some kind of trouble, remember what happened to his dad(may he >r.i.p), not to mention his gambling habit.
Mike is worth $400 million. His finances are not in trouble and the gambling was blown out of proportion. The most he blew was $150,000 on a golf game. He probably made that money back before the ink dried on the check.

>Perhaps Juanita is saving herself and the kids from his >conflicts.
Don't act like she's a victim.

And the bottom line is she STILL isn't worth what she's asking for.

I was coming from the stereotypical style of most athletes wives. Actually I was surprised she wasn't white. It just seems to be a big trend to either have the super model chic or some white girl for most black male athletes.
But Jordan didn't fulfill either of those and frankly I was happy to see that. Despite the pregnancy piece, it appeared that they truly love(d) each other.

It looks like Jordan is upset by the situation and the media just keeps pushing it in the man's face. Sooner or later he's going to blow.

I guess, but forgive but I never bought into the Michael good and wholesome thing. I have nothing against the man. But as a whole I have no respect for atheletes because it appears they can do what they want and get away with it. Michael, presents a different picture but as they say, there is more to one than meets the eye.

Just kidding.

But when it comes to relationships as well as marriage, aren't most women use whorish ways at times with their men? Not 24 hours but at times.i.e. asking for money, going below and beyond to get money from hubby. Not to say in all cases but it occurs.

Also most men married or not have a pimpin-complex. Most men want to be the head of the household over their woman and also be able to lavish luxuries on their prized possessions (wife/girlfriend/mistress).

ah, expertise, i was wondering what was up wit u...still stirring up trouble i see...well, let's mix it up for old times sake...

jordan has children...it's his responsibility to provide for those children...that means they need shelter...they need clothing...they need to eat...they need private schools...and college educations...just because he is no longer with his wife...he still has a responsibility to provide for those children...

the children's quality of life should not suffer, because him and juanita couldn't work it out...juanita can not provide for their children on her own...if juanita does not get some type of allowance she and her children would live in poverty...she sacrificed her life/career for him...while he was out on the road...she sacrificed to be there for him and those children everyday...you don't know, jordan, could have told her that he didn't want her to word...that he wanted to take care of her in everyway...well, he needs to continue to do so...

let's say that juanita is self-sufficient...she's been out of the work force for years...what company is going to hire her...her skills are obsolete...she still would need money from him until she could get back on her feet...and what job is she going to get that is going to be enough to provide for their four children and herself, comfortably...

it's also jordan's fault that the marriage didn't work out...it takes two to tango...if it didn't work out...they are both to blame...and they both have to suffer consequences...whatever those consequences are...

peace in love,
philia

>ah, expertise, i was wondering what
>was up wit u...still stirring

yeah yeah.

Look, Jordan IS providing for those children. He is giving them shelter, he's giving them clothing, he's giving them food, he's giving them educations, etc. If anything, this has nothing to do with the children because they were winners of the "Lucky Sperm Club", hence they won't have to worry about anything in their lives.

You see, this is nice spin, easy for the mothers to make themselves look like a potential victim, in order to claim they deserve half for doing little to nothing in order to produce that wealth. It doesn't matter if they get $40 million or $200 million, you're still rich. You still can afford damn near anything and everything you need or want. Therefore, no "quality of life" will "suffer" by not getting half.

Jordan does have a responsibility to provide for his kids, but that doesn't mean he has to shell out millions of dollars in order to do so, nor does it mean that he has to take care of Juanita to do it either. This is the problem with civil courts, as they allow women to take up a life of dependency on successful husbands, and it really doesn't matter what the circumstances are in the relationship. That $200 million, nor one cent of that money is about the kids, it's about JUANITA. JUANITA wants the money. JUANITA wants the property. JUANITA wants the houses. She, like women constantly do, are using the kids in order to justify virtual thievery.

If Juanita wanted $200 million, why didnt she go out and get it? Because it's easier to marry for it and then divorce to get your own. Considering she has dated NBA players before, including Reggie Theus, before she met Jordan, I'm sure she knows that fact real well and used it to her advantage. But the bottom line is, it's bullshit. And it's a sad testament to our court system that she's most likely going to be allowed to get away with it, instead of going out and getting a real job and earning it like others do.

Meanwhile, you the other suckers fall for it. Do you actually think that Juanita Jordan or Mike's kids are ever going to touch poverty? Yeah the hell right. Wake up Phila, Juanita Jordan is NOT a victim; in fact far from it. She didn't sacrifice NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING for him. She knew what she was doing the whole time! Women like you are always going to see the estranged wife and automatically think it's the MAN'S fault.

>clothing, he's giving them food,
>he's giving them educations, etc.
> If anything, this has
>nothing to do with the
>children because they were winners
>of the "Lucky Sperm Club",
>hence they won't have to
>worry about anything in their
>lives.

so i see he should just provide for his children, because his penis just happens to be made out of gold...which ejaculates gold nugget sperm at will...nice justification for providing for your children...and it has everything to do with the children...it takes more than money to raise children expertise...look at dr. jay's children...his son was a crack head suicide statistic...

but that's neither hear nor there...i know he is providing monetarily(sp) for his children...and after the divorce he should continue to do so...

>You see, this is nice spin,
>easy for the mothers to
>make themselves look like a
>potential victim, in order to
>claim they deserve half for
>doing little to nothing in
>order to produce that wealth.
> It doesn't matter if
>they get $40 million or
>$200 million, you're still rich.
> You still can afford
>damn near anything and everything
>you need or want.
>Therefore, no "quality of life"
>will "suffer" by not getting
>half.

i said he should provide for her and the children, so their quality of life would not suffer...how did you know that jordan didn't want janita to work...he can't just up and divorce her and expect her and those children to fend for themselves...if he didn't want her to work and that's the agreement they both made...he should continue to honor that agreement after the divorce...

>Jordan does have a responsibility to
>provide for his kids, but
>that doesn't mean he has
>to shell out millions of
>dollars in order to do
>so, nor does it mean
>that he has to take
>care of Juanita to do
>it either. This is
>the problem with civil courts,
>as they allow women to
>take up a life of
>dependency on successful husbands, and
>it really doesn't matter what
>the circumstances are in the
>relationship. That $200 million,
>nor one cent of that
>money is about the kids,
>it's about JUANITA. JUANITA
>wants the money. JUANITA
>wants the property. JUANITA
>wants the houses. She,
>like women constantly do, are
>using the kids in order
>to justify virtual thievery.

it was the dependency that jordan created...so he suffers for making her dependent...

>If Juanita wanted $200 million, why
>didnt she go out and
>get it? Because it's
>easier to marry for it
>and then divorce to get
>your own. Considering she
>has dated NBA players before,
>including Reggie Theus, before she
>met Jordan, I'm sure she
>knows that fact real well
>and used it to her
>advantage. But the bottom
>line is, it's bullshit.
>And it's a sad testament
>to our court system that
>she's most likely going to
>be allowed to get away
>with it, instead of going
>out and getting a real
>job and earning it like
>others do.
>
again, jordan, didn't want her to go out and get a real job...don't think jordan didn't use his money to get her attention...don't think jordan didn't tell her, baby i got all this money and i take care of you for the rest of your life...he equated his love with his money...and in the end the only way juanita could get the love...was to get the money...see my post on the dynamics of money...coming soon...

>Meanwhile, you the other suckers fall
>for it. Do you
>actually think that Juanita Jordan
>or Mike's kids are ever
>going to touch poverty?
>Yeah the hell right.
>Wake up Phila, Juanita Jordan
>is NOT a victim; in
>fact far from it.
>She didn't sacrifice NOTHING, absolutely
>NOTHING for him. She
>knew what she was doing
>the whole time! Women
>like you are always going
>to see the estranged wife
>and automatically think it's the
>MAN'S fault.

women like me...expertise you don't know me...if it was me my name would have been on every contract he signed...he wouldn't have signed a contract, business deal, or check without us both reading it and both our signatures being on it...

i would have never divorced him...i would have bought a home for me and those kids...and continued to write those checks...i wouldn't even get the court systems involved...

if he wanted to see those kids...i would ask him is he going to retire and be a full-time father...if he wanted to see me...i would ask is he going to retire and be a full-time husband...if he wanted to have sex...i would ask him is he going to retire and be a full-time lover...if he asked me and the children to come home...i would ask him is he going to retire and be there always...

expertise, as far as i'm concerned juanita letting him off easy...i wouldn't...i'd have jordan so wrapped up tied up...he would be teary eyed on t.v. talkin' bout...'i got to retire, because my family need me'...

i would let my husband know that i needed him to be the father, husband, and lover he promised he would be when we took those vows...and i would let him know that there are consequences and repricussions(sp) for breaking his promises to me...

so in the end, expertise, you would rather give me half...because it would be too hard for you to be the man i would need you to be....

cause you ain't ready...

peace in love,
philia

Didn't she sign a Post-nuptial agreement 3 yrs into the marriage(that's what's being "reported" now) If so she's shooting herself in the foot right there.. Now as far as the relations go.. The end comes sooner or later with everything.. it's just how it plays out... Now she knew what he was about 12 years is a very long time.. And you know most women will wait til "opportunity" comes along Like a pre-meditated murder if you will.. Most women plan their departures from sitations. Askin for 1/2 is crazy... And just what if she was "doin her bidnez" on the side too.... Many folk just assume cause she's a mom and she's his wife and she seems so "regal" and sweet and all that jazz that she can't do no wrong..... It's a sad thing to see when black families break up and all... but it just shows you that success and alot of money don't mean shyt... Shyt can happen to anybody...

You can be touched.......

The only thing I see written all over Michael Jordan is

BASKETBALL
COMPETITION
WINNINGGGGGGGGGG

The day he was rejected in high scool,or whereever changed his life forever.

Until he become satisfied overcoming that time he will not be good for any marriage.

When will that happen.
The day he can no longer run down a basketball court, plus add golf, anything that gives him the opportunity to prove he can win.

But now,for men WHEN THE RIGHT WOMAN COME ALONG THEY WILL GIVE UP EVERYTHING FOR HER.
Beleive it ,or not.

Mama said:
1."Men are perculiar creatures"
2."You will never understand men"
3."They want a respectable wife at home and one on the side for other things"
4."Don't you go down in that place of town and do what those girls do.
5."Men do not want to hang around women(wives-girlfriends) all the time"
6."Cheating is as olde as prostitution"
7."Never think you are the only one in a man life"
8."Women are schemers"
9."Your daddy cheated til she told it"

He tucked his tale and came home.
Oh,how she loved father.Never heard them argue.

My Mother-In-Law:
1."If he always want to go fishing,do not worry he(my husband)got it from his father"
2."Only way I kept up with his father is I started fishing with him"

My mother-in- law went fishing with my father-in-law!He still cheated.

Hmmmmm,Juanita tried golf with Michael.
Some men just ain't the type to be sweated.

GREG said
1."Man it is about another woman"
2."Man you don't leave your wife for another woman. You just do what you gotta do with that woman and come on home.Hmmmm, guess that is why Greg wife went evahh where Greg went.

But,she still sometime came to our house wondering if I knew where her husband might be.
I said to myself hell I ain't got time to keep up with your husband.be like me and don't give a ...k and do what you gotta do.
Dang, that man and I across the street sure did have a good time.

all jordan see's is basketball...juanita had half a man, half a husband, half a father, and half a lover for six nba rings...and he wants her to do that again for how many more rings...

jordan had a phat job after he retired in which he could be a full time father, husband, and lover...so she has all of that...and just because he's got the itch...she supposed to go back to half a man, half a father, half a husband, and half a lover...well shoot, jordan only giving half now...why not give juanita half the loot too...

i get tired of men saying all juanita did was sit on her butt...but what about the times she had to be mother and father, disciplinarian, teacher, nuturer, the man and the woman, when he was out on the road...what about the dreams she sacrificed for his vision and their kids...when he was gone 6 to 9 months out of the year, she had to be head of household...that's a lot to ask anybody, let alone a woman...

look at the timing of the divorce...she did it after he went back to playing basketball...not before he retired, not during retirement...after he retired...why because he couldn't grow up and be a frickin' man...he wanted to run from responsibility and be a boy...

juantia shouldn't divorce him...she should get a phat pent house for her and dem kids...and continue to write dem checks...and make his life miserable...hold him accountable and responsible for being foolish...dang gummit if she have to suffer he would too...until he did what he was supposed to do...be there and sacrifice for her and dem kids...and if he didn't...oh well, he still doing what he supposed to do, without the courts even getting involved...

but juanita wasn't wise...a marriage is a partnership...that means her name along with his should have been on the mortgage, the bank account, and any other business transaction he mad...when he signed with nike...her name should have been on there too...when he had ownership with the wizards her name should have been on that too...every business that man own her name should have been on it...it ain't gone baby do your thang while i sit her and watch yo kids...it's baby, i'm involved in every aspect of your life and i am co-owner and co-manager with you...her name should have been on everythang his was on...until wives start making it their business to know what's going in there husband's business...they gone continue to leave em nothin'...

aight i'm through ranting...

no, nobody does...but when the man doesn't be the man he is supposed to be...everyone suffers...maybe, if he saw the life i was describing...he would be a man, retire for good, and come back home...it's funny that he can be fantastic out on the court...but he can't display that type of leadership and desire at home...what he gives out on that court...his family needs also...

You make a clear, concise argument against marriage.
Why get married when everyone - men & women alike - are lusting after someone (something) else?

Your Momma laid down some heavy advice.
Given that advice, how did you reconcile yourself to marriage?

Michael.
Juanita.
The cast of characters in the drama is irrelevant, but the take-away is this: is marriage worth the price - financially, emotionally, spiritually - of admission? Drama-laced interpretations & assumptions aside, did either one of them bargain for this when they hit that little chapel in Vegas 13 years ago? Probably not.

Let's not play the game.

I LOVE THE INSTITUTION OF MARRIAGE.

BOUT TO GET DOWN AND DIRTY.
NO DISRESPECT TO MEN AT ALL HONESTLY.BUT,My OBSERVATION.

1.Watch a male dog when a female is in heat.
2.Damn dogs from everywhere roam, fight behind her.
3.My man standin in the kitchen window with a h..d on watching the male get his jollies,he got jealous, went out beat the other dog near death.
4.Basically men are oversexed!!!!By nature.
5.Imagine ladies 5X's one day and he still ain't finish, got to do self 3 more times.true story!
6.Touch him u got to F...!
7.Oh please do not even bend over fully dressed.
8.Top it off,he was made to watch D'ANGELO video "HOW DOES IT FEEL",girls ain't no need for him to be a Homo-Thug,just play the games, but some things go to far,but not that time,"WHODI" it was truly set off. Thanks D'ANGELO!

Sometime u can do allll they want til there is nothing to experiment and they cheat.

Marriage is a beautiful thing.
When in sales a woman once told me "Always let a man think something is his idea although you know it is yours,he will give you everything u want, said she wished she had learned it long ago,but never to late and oh how much she had gained"

MARRIAGE:
1.Communication.Understanding.Love.
a.After sex if you have nothing in common, how long will the marriage last.
b.Without understanding one anothers desires, feelings, needs and working toghther,it is setup for failure.
c.After the first two, love can grow, not the friendship first type.

I love men, hell no do not understand them, just try to work with them and their weird complexities, including looking at other women when with me,that is as long as he does not lie "I ain't lookinn at her,I thought I went to school with her,or my cousin,or bubba wife,on,andon lies".
Man stop lieing cause if I see an interesting man,we can look toghther!!!!!!!! .

I lovemm,Lovemmm,Lovemm!Can't do with/or withoutmmm!

AFTER WOMEN.MEN ARE THE BEST CREATURES ON EARTH.

Yes,i was longggg winded as usual, but I love this keyboard!
Hmmmm, that is why he was jealous of the doggg and beat him, cause I had to come here!

Raising the *other* child - is that strong love for the man or the innocent child?

Dogs chase dogs - period. What say you for the female dogs the continually point their rear to the nose of the male dog? Heat is heat.

8 nuts in one day = sexual addiction.

I FEEL U.Especially if it is a prostitute. But,yes women do go after the men they want.Hmmm,Jordan scenario if all true, which I beleive it is ,he has fame and fortune.
But,on an average men do exceed women to me.
I observe family, friend, men & boys. They outnumber women in the chase department of variety being the spice of their life.

True, but men are still oversexed to me.No matter how tired they may be,They do not claim a headache, they harass a woman til some do a "LAURENA BOBBITT"!

THE JORDANS WILL BE TOGHTHER TIL DEATH DO THEM PART!!!!

even Juanita KNOWS she probably won't get half, but in a case like this...where a lot of money is involved, you usually try to sue for the MOST you can possibly get. For instance, if something happens to you at a fast food resturant, you wouldn't sue for $1,000...you sue for $100,000,000. It doesn't mean you will get that amount, but lawyers set an amount for the most, or the highest possibility.

Because Juanita and Michael have 3 children, she'll get very good money, but I doubt she'll get half.

Personally.

Divorce.
Who get hurt.The children.

Marriage is a juggling act for many.
Now for the Jordans. The children are old enough to know their father and feel the pain of divorce.

Yeah,he may be a distant father, but all too often if he ever spend one oz of quality time with the children they just may become resentful of their mother.

Quite often women do most everything for children and in the end Daddy Did It All by the way they show their feelings to him.
