"ride your bike!!"

If you don't have a bike, go get one!! Reduce pollution, reduce traffic, reduce America's dangerous dependence on foriegn oil, get some nice excerise. Cycling to work is safer, healthier, funner, and much less expensive than driving. For the cost of one or two car insurance payments you can get a quality commuter bike. Another bonus-if you don't drive, auto insurance companies get less money.

What are you waiting for?? If you have a bike, go ride it!! If you don't have a bike, go buy one!!

This is my cause. I will not let this post die.

Riding your bike to work instead of driving has been proven to reduce stress. It's also more pleasant than riding the bus.

Dang, you really need to get in touch with the USPS coach.

For real though, anyone who lives within five miles of thier work has no excuse for driving. There are too many damn cars out there.

for real, biking is the shit. not just biking to work, but biking in general. the world would be a better place if we would all stop being so damn dependent on cars and just walk/ride to where we need to go. the crazy shit is that i own a car, and i barely ever use it. just sits and collects dust. if anybody out there wants any advice on how to get started riding, email me. i know much about bikes, as well as lobbying for bikers rights to both city govts. and employers. i am glad to see there are at least a few like minded people up in here.

I posted about a month ago about biking and it's so true. I'm still in college but I bike to class every day and I definitely plan on commuting to work by bike when I'm older. I also want to encourage anyone who hasn't tried it to go out to your local state park or whatever and go mountain biking. It's undeniably the most exhilirating sport out there!

I recommend getting a Marin. I have the Hawk Hill, it doesn't have a suspension, but I prefer it like that. Marin bikes ride really well, are built very well, and are just all around great bikes.

i paddle all the time-whitewater and flat. going out tomorrow actually. who wants to join me?

as for biking to work, no-can-do. i mean, i have to dress up and me on my 20-inch won't look to cool as i pull into the school parking lot. plus, virginia springs can be hot and i sweat a lot, so it's not feasible.

I brought my lurvely Chrome Wonder with me from Engerland cuz it makes me feel good.

Cuz I am doing something good for my body.
Cuz I am doing something good for the environment.
Cuz I am unclogging the roads and therefore vicariously doing something good for car drivers.
Cuz I love racing cars and beating them!
Cuz I love drunk cycling in the summer and falling off and having war scabs to show people.
Cuz I have a race mud guard on the back wheel for the faeries to use as a diving board.

Just the two of us, me and Chrome Wonder...

Peace,

Tank

bikes SUCK

cars are good, big trucks are better

better for running over cyclists that are just out trying to get in shape for upcoming races

not checking your blind spot before making turns is the best though, then you can run over innocent cyclists without concious (ie. you get to say, and I qoute, "I didn't see you")

Just wanted to give this a boost. I've been trying to get into bike commuting, and I finally shelled out the dough for an entry-level Trek (which is two days old and already giving me problems). Any NYC readers should check out transalt.org if you don't already. They got all the good stuff on there--biking route maps, info, articles etc.

I should have said it like that the first time. There is a distinct difference between RIDING and DRIVING. People have it backwards. You RIDE in a car, since the engine does the work, you just supply appropriate levels of gasoline. You're not driving jack when you're in your SUV. On the other hand you are DRIVING when you are on the bike, since you are supplying the force that propels it forward.

Just thought I needed to put that out there for clarification.
