"What is a Revolution?"

For years people have been throwing around the term Revolution. In history class we learn about Revolutions, as i understand it a Revolution is a

2 a : a sudden, radical, or complete change b : a fundamental change in political organization; especially : the overthrow or renunciation of a government c : activity or movement designed to effect fundamental changes in the socioeconomic situation

Knowing this what would be possible to usher in a new revolution, if the saying is true there is no revolution with out bloodshed. When i speak of revolution i refer to worldwide global phenomemon, however unlkely that would redistribute the wealth in world ans institute a society that honors humanity, even though killing may contradict that.

How could this be done?

In a country it could happen, but a global society based on humanity? That's some science-fiction right there. Look at how many problems America has with different cultures getting along. Now, can anyone expect thousands of different cultures with hundreds of different languages, religions, ideologies, to get along?? You'd have to kill everyone on the planet that didn't agree with your vision on some Stalin type shit. Differences are good, borders are good, a united worldwide system of doing things is bad, IMHO.

Revolution is definately possible on a global scale. Power is a ends, all it takes is for one person or group to be ruthless enough to take the initiative to get that power. Revolution is a vehicle, a utility. Once you have the power, you destroy the any chances of the power ever being taken away. Read 1984 by George Orwell, this book explains how to keep the power.

I mean, c'mon, look at the propaganda they (the media) throws in our temple.
We perceive aliens to be a threat, and thus, we take a defensive stance whenever we entertain the thought of the possiblity of aliens being amonst our midst.
What makes us think that ALL aliens are the same?
Could it be possible for us to accept that there might be benelovent extraterrestrails just as much there are malovent ones?
Why do we always feel threatened whenever we realize that there is other lifeform out there that wants to co-exist with us?
Why does the insecure man have to abollish everything that he feels is "moving on his territory"?
How about, they may have been here before us, inhabiting this piece of rock.

a major trend in General Discussion in particular to classify "different" as "threatening."

Maybe that helps explain the Alien as Bad Guy theory?

Fear of the unknown. I don't think it has anything to do with the Media (I'm capitalizing the Media from now on since it seems to have become it's own entity), it's just people's natural reaction to things that are completely unknown to them.

Well, I don't know about other life trying to live with us, but if UFOs were to come down it's more likely they'd be greeted by the Marines than by diplomats. The threatenign feeling comes from humna history where the technologically advanced civilization almost always takes over the indiginous culture when they come in contact. Why we would extrapolate human behavior to alien behavior I don't know, probably because that's all we have to work with.

reading your definitions I'm wondering what's the hurry? why must it be 'sudden' & 'radical'? we evidently can't/won't get enough people to throw down and say enough is enough, there's a better way..feel like that time's passed now. perhaps we need to try and reach the children and plant seeds - sht is waay out of hand already without spilt blood and that means seems to result in much the same situation it supercedes.

I once wanted to know why certain people would like to unite the planet, the idea of ruling the world seems boring to me. I thought that the reason they would want to is because of extra terrestrials. How would we look to some advanced race of beings fighting over petty shit like skin color or various other things. This guy at my job summed it up for me..........A control freek doesnt get bored with his or her power.
