The actual book is only around 114 pages the other 100 are notes and an essay by Simpson.

I'm halfway through and will probably finish it tomorrow. If you're interested in how and why the study of social sciences or communication research was started this is the book for you.

Just finished "Always True to You in My Own Fashion" by Valerie Wilson Wesley. Just picked up "Ready For Revolution" by Kwame Ture, "Afeni Shakur: Evolution of a Revolutionary" and "My Soul to Keep" by Tananarive Due, so I'll probably start on one of those today. I read a lot. Usually two books a week.

Stories From Rwanda by Philip Gourevitch. I just finished it this morning actually. It's a good investigative journalism work on what really went on in Rwanda, I'd recommend it to anyone interested in what happened during, before and after the genocide.

-The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen (?). I copped it at Salvation Army for a dollar. Anyone read this?

-Pay the Rent or Feed the Kids by Mel Hurtig, again. Canadian OKPs should really check this out.

-National Geographic's Great Religions of the World, mostly the shit on Islam. Another SA find. It's from the seventies but the photos are dope.

-The Wealth of Nations by Smith (unabridged). Finally, I can argue what Smith stood for with the "free market" types.

-Vice Guide to Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll. Absolutely, without a doubt, the funniest shit I have ever read.

I'm looking for good histories of post-revolution Russia and a broad history of the Middle East. Any recommendations?

a little too narrative in parts, but overall a great read.

If you really liked No Logo, you should take a look at "The Myth of the Good Corporate Citizen" by Murray Dobbin. Looks a little bit more at the institutional side of things. Highly recommended.

Where I read Dark Matter

Outlaw Culture by bell hooks

started Race Rules by Michael Eric Dyson, but it had to be returned to the library

Density of Souls by Christopher Rice

which I read so I wouldn't trash the book anymore without having read it -- now I can trash it from an informed stance

that book was so bad I needed to be kind to myself... and did better

I JUST finished Alice Walker's You Can't Keep a Good Woman Down.

Which is the shit.

Should be required reading for all 10-graders.
