"Andy Reid Is Dead To Me"

No more.

I want nothing to do with this fat, smirking clown any longer. Everytime I see his reaction after another gaffe I feel like he's actually fucking with me specifically.

Everytime we show the marks of unprepared, poorly coached teams choking away crucial goal line situations, terrible two-minute offense and asinine timeout-killing challenges......I'm taking it as a personal affront.

I want this dude fired yesterday and the fact that it won't happen only increases my anger at the smirk.

I've expressed my displeasure steadily but I haven't been on record with Doc-Claw-esque rage and SPM-turncoatism will never be in me but believe me, I know and feel everything both of them do.

It's long since been over. This man's tenure will only get more increasingly aggravating with each passing day from now until his Wayne Fontes Finality.

I despise Big Red, he can win 100 more games and that will not change because none of those games will include a game that truly matters.

Please, for the sake of my own sanity Coach Reid, go take care of your fucking kids and get out of my life.

Every game they've won has next to nothing to do with you and every L features your fat smirking ass heavily (pun fully intended) involved.

Thank God the Phillies are the World Champions. Waiting on this Eagle team to win something is like waiting on that mythical character Jesus returning.

The only way I don't cough up 300 bones to assorted Skins fans here at the end of this season will be because they fucked up, not because we were a well-coached team that powered through.

but I thought of Doc while I was at Barney's Beanery watching Big Red's nonsense.

Dennis Quaid came up to me and told me that I need to take a breath and believe, I said 'look dude, I respect your work but I know what's happening here, we're one of the worst coached teams in this league'.

When it all came to a close he and his son gave me dap and apologized. Even The Rookie knows my coach is a dumb fuck.

Though Reid's win-loss and drafting record since his arrival has been infinitely better than the Lions, the way the seasons always end is the same end result as a Matt Millen. Some years the "Millen Effect" takes longer to show up. The fact that that an even more stomach-curdling equivalent to the Green Bay Packers that plays in the state adjacent to the Eagles' home base representing The Megalopolis of Piss managed to squeak a chip in half the time (perhaps less than half) of El Asso Gordo's tenure is the most disgusting thing in the history of the NFL short of the possibility that the Patriots getting 19-0 last season (and the "Tuck Rule" call that launched their Reign of Terror). The Doc hasn't had this much hate for the Eagles' state of affairs since the tail end of the Ray Rhodes regime.

As far as The Doc's concerned, Reid can pack his bags and head to Seattle and hang out with Mora, Krapp (because he's gonna get let go in Oakland soon enough), and the rest of the Children and Grandchildren of Walsh.

The Doc doesn't know who could be better at this point, but the entire Eagles coaching staff needs to be gone. No more West Coast Offense without a power back and a real full back in the game, no more crap 2 minute drills, no more of this bullshit.

The only positive out of that pitiful (and probably purposely plotted) loss of last night is that across Eagles Nation, the light has been lit under the reticent members of our fanbase to raise their fists with the only words that will save this team:

FIRE REID.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

The Doc's gonna laugh. He already knows a team like the Bears are waiting to get a real QB on the squad...

meanwhile Eagles gonna be puttering around with Kolb and some jabronis on the bench until they finally crash and burn. Westbrook and the playmakers gonna ask for a trade.

It'll be a good 7-10 years before the Eagles regroup by The Doc's pessimistic observations.

i know he's far from a power back but that nigga never converts in the tough yards in the 4th.

i don't get how he's considered the mvp of the team. his absence just points out how sorry their other playmakers are.

i've never been a fan of his and i swear the eagles would be better w/a real rb.

The fact that Westbrook has put up numbers in this bullshit BYU offense is the reason why he's been lauded so. The last couple of years allowed The Doc to reevaluate what kind of player B-West is, for a while he was in the same boat as you.

Also they don't have a fullback. Westbrook is running out of the single back most of the time.

In response to Reply # 11

1. terrible play call (slow developing run on a fourth down?!? really?)
2. terrible blocking by the line (hold your edge, for fuck's sake. westbrook had to assume the guy who tackled him was engaged so he could focus on getting the extra yard against the incoming safety. too bad his blockers sucked and he wasn't kept engaged)
3. terrible decision by the FB (should have seen the block to the left failing and chipped that player)

that one wasn't on westbrook. and reid's playcalling all game was for shit. mcnabb getting tired was a little sad to see also.

and that first challenge? DON'T MAKE STUPID CHALLENGES, IDIOT.

The Eagles have no true fullback, no blocking TE, and the run game has been pathetic with Shawn Andrews out. The offensive line used to be a strong suit of this team but now they get absolutely no push in the run game.

That's one of the things that make this more frustrating. At one point the line was a good run blocking unit that was never asked to run block, but now he wants to run in short yardage when they can't run block.

that the Red Sox jacked from Raider fans. And trust me, there is nothing good mutually shared by Red Sox and Raider fans.

But anyway, this ain't really a new thing. We've been knowing about this for quite some time.

The problem with Andy's culpability level is the fact that they did make a surprise playoff run without Donovan two years ago. That bought him some goodwill he didn't deserve.

But make no mistake, that's been gone by now. My email is flooded with vitriol this morning in regards to his coaching abilities. Even the last defenders have jumped ship.

The truly frustrating thing is he's not going anywhere.

true. He was smart (or is that lucky) enough to have Jeff Garcia as a backup, but Marty bailed him out on the playcalling side big time.
Come the next season, he was up to his old tricks again, only then
he could point at Marty and blame him for that.

as was noted on an Eagles discussion The Doc frequents...even
before he got there, he saw people typing things he had said
VERBATIM over the last 3 years (save the surprise 10-6/division win/
playoff run).

>The truly frustrating thing is he's not going anywhere.

Yep. Until they go 3-13... and he gets Ray Rhodes-ed... hopefully.

Andy will never go 3-13 tho, because for better or worse he gets enough people that can play to maintain a certain level of mediocrity. Despite his obvious blind spot at wideout, he's a better talent evaluator than in-game coach by a mile.

Of course, he'll lull some back in after beating the Bengals and some other bullshit team to put us back in playoff position.......but such is life.

That's 0-3 in the division.

The cowboys are spiraling, but they have more talent than us.

The skins and giants basically dominated us on both sides of the ball. It really wasn't even close. Mind you we've locked up those DL until like 2014 and the OL is all flush with cash money.

I wouldn't be so pissed if reid wasn't spending draft pick after draft pick "strengthing the lines". It's not working.

Time to start over. Bring in some new blood and gut it all.

Let 5 walk and eddie george westbrook until kolb is ready. They're a team that does nothing really well. The wildcard is still a possibility, but a team 10yrs into a regime shouldn't be scuffling for a wildcard.

Reid & Co are good at drafting some positions (O-line, secondary, McNabb), and have never been good at drafting others.

The first one was kinda necessary due to the fact that it was the 4th quarter and a close game. What would have happened if Tom didn't throw one for the Eli pass?. Ain't like Reid knew Jacobs was gonna cough up the ball (after scoring the TD of course).

I mean yall wanted Reid to call run plays on 3rd and short, he did that and yall stil up in arms. Jeez...

Maybe the problem really isn't Reid, but your GM. You're only shining star right now is DeShaun Jackson. Like that's the only person on your team that I really got nervous about.

he called run plays w/ 2 min left and 1 TO w/ an ineffective run game and an effective pass game..put Nabb at shotgun, if no ones open he'd run for the first, put the ball in his hands, they got 3TD's by them doing that earlier..

are you serious? in "4th quarter and a close game" you NEED TO's. why challenge a play you CLEARLY can't win? this is chess. any major move requires you to think ahead and not just in the moment.

what if we need 2 challenges later?
what if we need 3 TO's on the last drive?

you have to ask those ?'s and realize you can get burnt by the refs. reid should know because it happened in the atlanta game.

you only challenge like that when the play standing means the game is OVER...3 or 4 scores over. the game was far from over.

>I mean yall wanted Reid to call run plays on 3rd and short, he
>did that and yall stil up in arms. Jeez...
>

not on the last drive.

not in an I-formation.

not when you've gotten no rush yards all game.

not on back to back plays.

no when mcnabb can easily get the 1st on a bootleg, qb draw, etc.

context man, context.

so Jimmy Johnson sucks all of a sudden too? Eagles haven't been stopping anybody lately either on D?

fact of the matter is,

your "dynasty" is over.

you had your run. time to rebuild.

sh*t happens in sports.

Reid took your sh*tless organization to the mountain top and then some, with a QB who had all the talent in the world, but very few intangibles and no leadership quality.

be thankful you got that much.

Giants are good now. no more Jim Fassels. Redskins are improving. No more Steve Spurrier's or over-the-hill Joe Gibbs' anymore. the Cowboys, although imploding, are more talented than ever.

i don't understand this elitst attitude by Philly fans.

your team is average. get over it. it needs transition.

getting rid of Reid aint gonna solve it. get rid of the QB first. trade him and get some draft picks.

another QB isn't going to fix the inability to run the ball (i.e. training the O-Line to block properly and set up runs)

another QB isn't going to call dumb plays under 2 minutes (at least he stopped that stupid play action BS but that run play was actually worse)

another QB isn't going to do things like putting an aging kicker who can't make more than 45 yard field goals in 50 yard field goal situations (didn't happen last night but happened this season)

the QB has made his mistakes but the problems start at the top down

Redskins didn't start getting better because of their QB, it's because they gave guys like Spurrier and Joe Gibbs Mark II the boot

this contrarian dickhead shit dilutes your point everytime you make it

its a start.

you aren't going to win a Super Bowl with him.

trade him while you got some value, and get some draft picks.

>another QB isn't going to call dumb plays under 2 minutes (at
>least he stopped that stupid play action BS but that run play

QB's are the leader of the 2 minute drill. Playcalling is based on the personnel you have. if you don't have faith in the your "leader", the QB, running two minute drills or he is incapable of doing so, you are hamstrung in calling plays. its why you always see the Eagle struggle in those situations, with McNabb as QB.

here is where you are wrong.

the Redskins did start getting better because of their QB. before the Steelers game, Campbell did not have any interceptions. he lead a couple of comeback's in the 4th quarter. which also opens up the run game, when you have a QB who can make plays down the stretch. Something Donavan, still can't do in clutch.

>this contrarian dickhead shit dilutes your point everytime you

your love jones for McNabb can't help see clearly through the eyeshield, decepticon..

you still have no ground game, average wr's, bad clock management, and a 1st time qb.

is kolb a better option?

how about this:
get a power back
a new play caller
a real #1 wr

the problem is reid. why has he never balanced the offense? buckhalter and hunt...foh. thrash, pinkston, freddie...foh. mcnabb wins w/bums. if reid addressed the personnel years ago they'd have a title.

i dont watch the eagles that often but i never seen that shit.

and remember, i'm not an eagles fan.

but he is the coach and gm, so any flaw on that team is attributable to him at some level.

the question is whether his coaching failed the eagles or his GMing.

I don't think it's his GMing.

i think it was his shitty ass coaching.

the eagles made bad challenges, stupid play calls, and couldn't run all game, yet they run with under 2 to play twice in a row. really? wtf?

74. "2008 fullback timeline"
In response to Reply # 0

Here's one of the funnier things from this season:

The Fullback timeline..

-Thomas Tapeh walks as a free agent to sign with Minnesota.
-Eagles promote Jason Davis from the practice squad to play as fullback.
-Not impressed with Davis the Eagles sign Dan Klecko to be fullback.
-Scared by how Klecko looks running patterns Eagles trade for Luke Lawton.
-Lawton drops balls in training camp, looks bad blocking so the Eagles promote former TE from Wazzu Jed Collins to starting FB.
-Collins is solid in limited play.
-Tony Hunt breaks a long TD run Vs Panthers in preseason. He's low on the RB depth chart but they feel they can't cut him.
-Tony Hunt is named starting FB despite lack of experience at spot.
-Tony Hunt goes into season as FB and is decidedly below average.
-Dan Klecko becomes the team's best pass rush DT, and a key cog in the DT rotation.
-Tony Hunt is cut, and Klecko switches number from 68 to 49 and becomes starting fullback.
-Jed Collins is cut from practice squad.
-Klecko flaws become apparent, and Eagles sign Kyle Eckel to two year deal.

living in the midst of this Eagle climate as an "unbiased" observer, I can assure you that Mc Nugget gets plenty of criticism. He used to get too much back when Pidgeon fans thought Andy walked on water.(Circa 2001-2005) Since then however, the fact that they've fallen on somewhat hard times (nothing like the Riley era in SD, mind you) combined with the absolute disdain he shows local media at his press conferences where he comes off like he's appalled that he's being questioned for his bad decisions, Andy now catches a good sized helping of static, well deserved IMO. McNugget gets heat, but now the blame is shared, and has started to tip more toward the head coach, as Andy exposes himself as a (below) average head coach.

as much as i love johnson, he won't be doing this shit forever and his blitz-first defense has, at times, looked as predictable/beatable as Reid's pass-first offense.

time for top to bottom changes, it might have been time two years ago coming off the win over the giants/loss to saints but i think another mediocre year proves that with some veterans soon to be leaving, it might also be time to shake up the staff/management as well.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I have so many specific plays I could go over and list, but the main theme is this: an inability to fix or even acknowledge the problems that we all see on the football field, in a timely manner.

When you constantly get stopped in short-yardage situations(and I mean CONSTANTLY), the problem isn't simply that it didn't work out as we planned(and you will always hear Coach Reid saying that shit) but that there is a fundamental issue(s) that we need to address.

The two minute drill.....the ultimate example of it was in the Super Bowl, but even before and after that, that shit has not improved like you might think it would. There's no sense of urgency, the play-calling is often suspect(play-action? Passes to the middle of the field with limited timeouts?)

The running game....if anything in football, the run is based on a rythm. You get that flow, the line starts brimming with confidence and just get increasingly nasty, the backs get a feel for the defense and the speed of opposition, etc. Furthermore, it wears down the opposing D, it LETS YOUR OWN DEFENSE GET A FUCKING BREATH, it takes pressure off your QB because the d-line knows they cannot simply make a bee-line, and nothing is more disheartening than watching your squad get run over. Yet we only run 1/3 of the time, and then every week, give the same company line bullshit about 'I need to put the team in a better position'. Run the fucking ball, control TOP, let play-action actually make an opposing LB hesitate, and then hit em with a dart...that might put us in a fucking better position, cotdamn.

Late-game management....we've always made questionable decisions, and last night's first challenge highlighted that shit. With that much time left, you simply fucking cannot pull a 'o what the hell' challenge. Timeouts become so critical, and after watching the replay, there is absolutely ZERO chance that they rule it a fumble. Further, the gameplan late in games has become far too predictable. Everyone knows what we are trying to do, and getting to the spot before we can.

Basically, there's no sense of urgency to fix any of the problems and that lies on the Coach. He's gotta go.

issues, meaning its blindingly obvious there's something to them, yet they never change.

Well, I guess this goal-line/short-yardage issue is kind of a new wrinkle brought to the surface on a weekly basis this season but all the other issues are shit they've been doing to some degree for as long as I can remember.

And what Andy doesn't seem to realize is that when the team was better we won despite things like his refusing to run the football, not because of them.

He's the most obstinate coach I can recall watching as a fan.

that we all know that nothing will happen to Andy Reid. Let's be honest, Lurie + Banner ain't cuttin' ties with Reid unless we put together some back to back losing seasons with a healthy squad. We could lose out this year, and nothing will be said to Reid. As long as we continue to look respectable (which we are this year) and we fill the stands, ain't shit gonna change. Andy always does enough to make us competitive and I'm sure it'll stay that way for awhile (how could it not with McNabb/BWest/Samuel/Brown/DJax, etc.?)as long as we keep our nucleus intact. Lurie will still give us that "were going for it all" bullshit speech and Reid will continue to remind us that he needs to do a better job of putting the team in a position to win. The story will be repeated many times before an actual change occurs.

If this pattern continues, my worst fears will be confirmed: the Eagles won't win a SuperBowl with guys like McNabb, BWest, BDawk, etc. 5 years ago or so, I was completely confident that we would eventually win a Super Bowl. How could we not with the guys we had? Well, now we're seeing why.

I was sure we were winning a Super Bowl in 2002 once the Rams fell off a cliff.

I didn't really start questioning this regime at all until I walked out of the Vet for the last time that day.

I believe he's the most successful coach in Eagles history. Give him credit for that, Philly was pretty bad when he was hired.

But he has to take the blame for their inability to develop top-notch receivers and tough running backs. And those two positions are the main reason they don't have at least one Super Bowl ring.

They are stuck in that .500 range now, with the least amount of talent in their division.

It depends on whether Reid is interesting in a rebuilding phase, or if the fans will accept rebuilding with Reid still in control.

Either way, I think McNabb will leave within 2 years.

the window has closed for him and df, so its not like they could bring somebody in and suddenly become a contender again.

its time to blow the whole team up and start rebuilding.

the sad thing for me is that when PHILLYFAN writes obituary for this team, df will get the bulk of the blame for not being able to 'win the big one.'

The past is my foundation, not my preoccupation.

with a few tweaks could give the whole thing a new lease on life.

Organizations rebuild on the fly all the time. I can't remember what the last Super Bowl winning team that had a true 'rebuilding' process.

Personally I'd like to see what McNabb could do under a different coach who actually implements the run, values legit wideouts, and runs the offense closer to what we did under Garcia.

But the process starts at the top. Get new management and let them decide where they see Donovan McNabb. He's a 31 year old QB who's started every game so far this season to mostly solid results.

My favorite 'dumb' argument when I tell people I want Reid gone is "Who do you want to get then? Some no name?"

To which I reply "Did you know Reid before he was the head coach?"
They cant say yes. Unless they worked for the Green Bay Packers in 98.

U must cut off the head of the Snake. If I cant have Lurie's head, I'll settle for Reid's.

I can't even get happy as a rival. Maybe because I don't hate the Eagles enough for that. But man, I knew Andy Reid stunk. He is borderline foul. He is like Brett Favre. He sucks. There is absolute obvious evidence that he stinks and yet the team still holds on to him. What he has done in the past is very good. But he has shown for awhile that he isn't capable of making sound decisions. Looking at what his sons have become just gives me further proof that he shouldn't be coaching at the moment.

can't win bullshit I been said Andy is the prime reason this team ain't a superbowl team and it ain't even the fact that he is outcoached in big games.

He can't be a gm

or play caller.

Hia best team was the 2001-2002 team built on defense which lacked recievers.

This current team's best reciever is a rookie

and they have no fucking fullback.

I really started caring about and following the Eagles (which basically didn't happen until the Buddy Ryan era).

That being said, the NFL passed MLB at least a decade ago and Philadelphia reflects that as much as any city you can name.

That doesn't mean you can't love both plus the Sixers.

Shit, I woulda gladly taken a Flyers title last year but the Phillies winning was a far better way to get off the snide.

edit: and for the umpteenth time, there is *no such thing* as Eagle Nation.

Let Raider & Red Sox fans ride with that wack terminology.

"Twice this season Reid has taken the game out of the hands of Donovan McNabb and tried to win at crunch time with his running game. Here's a coach who loves to throw on damn near every down except when the game is on the line. I also blame Reid for the Eagles failing to trade a second-round draft pick for Tony Gonzalez. Other than the one season with Terrell Owens, McNabb has made a living throwing the ball to the James Thrashes of the world. It's ridiculous. I'm convinced the Eagles don't want to win it all."

an upper-echelon quarterback.

He has no swag, he no longer runs, he's become more innacurate and turnover prone than any time of his career, and he appears to have lost the confidence of his teammates.

But obviously the biggest issue is the Fat Man having Patriot Act level power at the helm.

how many 30 plus qbs are asked to run?

Did you see Brett Favre running after 30?

How about Steve Young?

Randall Cunningham?

You know why because they have a team around them to the point where running as a QB is LAST priority.

This suck ass team is totally andy's fault.

He can't pick early round players

is terrible in free agency.

is stubborn

is not a good coach(if you can't adjust)

He is the definition of insane.

And I hope to God MCNABB GOES SOMEWHERE NEXT YR BALLS OUT AND WINS A RING.

so stop comparing him to Brett Favre or Steve Young, Favre was never a runner and Young ran well after 30. Both those guys are Hall of Famers who have won Super Bowls and MVPs though. And I wouldn't care that 5's lost the ability to run if he could make teams pay with the pass or intangibles but he clearly cannot.

McNabb's the best QB in franchise history (Randall's coaching, line and running back situations were all far shittier by the way) but it's painfully apparent he is no longer a difference-maker.

I hate Andy Reid as much as anyone and would like him fired before the bus heads up 95 North, that doesn't mean McNabb doesn't have to own at least some of his shitty play.

Steve young has Jerry Rice Ricky Watters Deion Sanders etc. etc. etc.

Favre played the patriots still had a great running game Desmond Howard etc. And Favre was never a runner are you serious he was known for being mobile. Elway stopped running after 30 too. Its sheer stupidity to ask an established qb to run every play.

I don't think it is clear at all its clear Andy can't evaluate talent and McNabb was able to make him look better than he really was along with the coach staff he had.

True but he is still top 5 qb in the league.

they were also better QBs than McNabb in his prime, let alone the way he's playing now. Shit, Favre's better than McNabb right now is the sad thing.

>Favre played the patriots still had a great running game
>Desmond Howard etc. And Favre was never a runner are you

being mobile is different than being a true weapon as a runner. It's the difference between Vick, Young, or early McNabb and Favre/Elway.

Elway stopped running
>after 30 too. Its sheer stupidity to ask an established qb to
>run every play.
>
who's asking him to run every play? Stop building strawmen.

I listed running, as in making plays on the move, as one of the many aspects of McNabb's game that is no longer what it used to be.

You apparently don't remember Heath Sherman, James Joseph, Anthony Toney, Siran Stacy, late-period Herschel, Byars as a rusher and all the other bums who played running back for the Eagles while Randall was there. Or the fact that the offensive line was routinely among the league's worst while up until this year the Eagles in the McNabb era have had a good line. Or the fact that McNabb played in one system his whole career (flawed as it might be) while Randall had new QB coaches annually, ha Rich Kotite as his best offensive coordinator and in the Buddy era was just told to go out and make a '2-3 big plays a game'.

On the offensive side of the ball, the McNabb supporting cast was better than Randall's.

all I'm saying is the things that made Donovan one of the best QBs in the league: his mobility, his resiliency, his ability to make big plays but still take care of the football, the confidence he inspired in his less talented teammates.......all of those things have been gradually and now seemingly rapidly eroding as time passes.

He's not an elite QB anymore. Could he be a solid starter on a good team? Sure. But the sad fact of the matter is it will happen somewhere else if it even happens at all.

I'm more focused on how we get this dead-end coach/GM out of here but the bottom line is I've come to accept that McNabb's tenure in Philly is just about over. It didn't fully work out the way any of us wanted but he gave us some great years and memories.

After ten years of Reid/McNabb, no titles and increasingly diminishing returns......it's time to turn the page on all of it.

We've entered a rebuilding mode whether or not anyone wants to admit it or not.

This being the NFL and the fact that there is talent on this team means that the rebuilding process can happen fairly quickly. But it won't if we're holding onto the past.

This thread is speaking on some real.. fuckin... shit. I appreciate what Andy did for us, but now I don't see him guiding us to the promised land. Coaching HAS to be addressed before we worry about the QB situation.

I could see that being possible. That, coupled with his injury history, may be the reasons why Donovan doesn't run like he used to.

and I know people who know Don's brother well from my short stint in the South Jersey insurance world he works in, nice guy but he ain't really privy to much information on that kinda shit other than hearsay from Donovan......who's been on-guard to an almost paranoid degree since draft day '99 and only increasingly more so after the T.O. shit split the locker room.

Also, Quest not knowing about bounties growing up in a city where Buddy Ryan made it famous 19 years ago versus Dallas, shows you he's a lot more of a music dude than he is a sports one.....Sixers season tix or not.

You don't pay quality players to stay.
You let Steve Spagnuolo go, with whom my boys(you know who;D) won a ring with.

Sounds to me like your cancer isn't so much your coach as it is your management.

In response to Reply # 163

I don't really care about firing him in the middle of the season, whether or not they fire him this offseason will be the key......I would have said no way in hell two weeks ago but for the first time in Andy's tenure this team is showing times of fully collapsing and quitting. They might tank hard enough to finally rid us of the Fat Man.

>You don't pay quality players to stay.
not a lot of players they've let walk have come back to hurt them, aside from the obvious T.O. debacle.

>You let Steve Spagnuolo go, with whom my boys(you know who;D)
>won a ring with.
>
Spagnola took a promotion, it happens. Same way if the Eagles offered him the head coach he'd leave NY and come back with the quickness.

>Sounds to me like your cancer isn't so much your coach as it
>is your management.
>
uh, the coach basically *is* the management. He's got final say in everything until the owner says otherwise and cans him.

In response to Reply # 0

i don't know.

McNabb is not accurate at all these days. he wasn't throwing sh*t against the Ravens. i think McNabb thought the Ravens DB's werea actually on his team.

i mean, Indianapolis threw on 4th and inches last night, and they completed it.

oh thats right,

Peyton Manning is their QB, not McNabb.

ya'll n*ggas keep defending his poor play all you want. he looks like sh*t right now. bad playcalling or not, you got to be able to have accuracy, and touch wiht the football. McNabb got his head in the sand right now.

McNabb has been pathetic the two games since that point, averaging a turnover a quarter.

But yeah, the playcalling is awful regardless. And Reid is doing none of the QBs a favor by throwing the ball at a nearly FOUR TO ONE ratio.

In response to Reply # 0

12/02/08: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=easterbrook/081202#motivation

"Andy Reid presents a bumbling image, and when he pulled Donovan McNabb during the Philadelphia Nesharim's loss to Baltimore, Reid was savaged by the sportstalk media. "He has no idea what he's doing" was the gist. But the Eagles were playing listlessly, and had played listlessly the week before in their soporific five-quarter tie against Cincinnati. Yanking the team's leader sent this message to Philadelphia players: "None of your jobs are safe either." Four days later, Philadelphia pounded Arizona 48-20 as the Eagles played with great enthusiasm. Did the sports radio world acknowledge that Reid's motivational ploy worked?"

12/09/08: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=easterbrook/081209#sweet

"Philadelphia has won consecutive games against division leaders since Andy Reid yanked Donovan McNabb, a move for which Reid was roundly denounced by sports pundits."

01/06/09: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=easterbrook/090106

"In other football news, since Andy Reid benched Donovan McNabb, a move roundly denounced by football pundits, the Eagles are 5-1 and have advanced to the divisional round. Not only did the temporary demotion shake McNabb out of his lethargy, it communicated to other Philadelphia players this message: "Your jobs aren't safe, either." When will Reid get some praise for a decision the experts mocked?"

stuff is BS. Besides, if Kolb played decent I'm pretty sure Reid would have stuck with him. Reid figured Donovan would be gone, so he was trying to save his job. He figured Donovan would be the scapegoat for the season, and he would get a head start on the future, with Kolb.

Andy's good at never losing the players, they always play for him.

And he does have some strengths in evaluating certain personnel areas (the lines & the secondary).

But acting like tossing Kolb to the wolves was brilliant suberterfuge is overselling it.

The guy was desperate and took a shot. It's taken a lot of luck (I mean, we needed the Raiders & Texans to win on the road against teams with winning records and they both somehow did) along with fighting his own impulses to pass every play that has lead us to this point.

3rd-and-14 from your own 28 or so, 1:40 left to go, you call a timeout before a long and nearly impossible to pick up first down given the situation.......so that you can save them a minute before punting?

Mind-numbingly stupid. They were getting blown off the field and starting with the ball in the third quarter. Take your time and make sure you're not putting yourself in a bigger hole.

your tough talk doesn't add up to dollars to me so it's whatever, especially when I could just as easily 'hold people accountable' for shit like this http://board.okayplayer.com/okp.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=1400225&mesg_id=1400225&listing_type=search and this http://board.okayplayer.com/okp.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=1561907&mesg_id=1561907&listing_type=search.

You being mad enough to dig up two-year old posts (remember, this was the year we ended another dissapointing/overhyped season for y'all) where I'm unloading on our coach of 12 years & crowing like you got over some big hump when really y'all are in the same shitty position you've been in for the whole Romo era is a source of amusement to me.

A proud 'champ' talking tough about winning a Wild Card game, lmao, FOH.

this had to have come about a couple of weeks before the McNabb Ether on Thanksgiving night... I remember sitting on my cousin's couch in Charlotte watching that game and hopping up like a 5 year old, grinning from ear to ear.

I will admit, that while I do have my reservations about Andy's ability to coach on Game Day, without him, the Eagles don't have what they do now... and Mike Vick doesn't come back the phenomenal player he is turning back into.

I'm glad he's taken a back seat from the "GM" seat as well.

Jeffery needs to have a short list of non retreads. I dont want Cower, Billick or Gruden really.

I kind of want the Standford coach.

215. "I mean you'd take David Shaw over Jon Gruden, what is there to say?"
In response to Reply # 213

I think Gruden can coach, you just can't give him GM power.

Shaw's done a solid job coaching Harbaugh's players & outcoaching Lane Kiffin (which lots of people seem to do nowadays) but that doesn't mean I want him as a coach of my pro team.

I'd even rather take Perry Fewell than Shaw but definitely Chuckie (I don't really want Cowher, he's a bit overrated & he's been out for *too long* at this point).

Billick I couldn't take for different reasons.

219. " Gruden is an OC who won with a D he didnt build"
In response to Reply # 215

The Eagles do not have a D to hold up Gruden's endless search for a mediocre QB offense.

Gruden couldnt draft and sucked at free agency. I like him as a OC only, not coach. But he will never go back to a OC at this point. Same with Billick. Plus Gruden is Todd Haley to players as well.

I was thinking Perry too but look at Spags. Its easy to look good when the GM hands you 4 to 5 good/great DEs.

I think its safe to say it will take a lot of leg work to find out who is the one making moves on the successful teams around the league. SF, NYG, NE, GB and HOU.

I think we get a GM first who can bring in talent.

I like the run first style, they play hard on D, they play smart and the fact that he was Luck's OC.

I'm not sold which is why I said kind of. He seems a little laid back and I need to know how much he contributed to their success and how much of their play is due to Harbaugh and not him.

In response to Reply # 216

so they might be better off not hiring a beloved local former player since coaches are hired to be fired but Herm could bring a kick-in-the-ass & defensive mindset, there's talent on this team & it's not being cultivated the right way.

Then again, we need a quarterback too which is not a minor detail capable of tweaking.
