and he started late, just imgaine where he would be had he been drafted
out of college.

A pure passer with a cannon for an arm. They dont throw like that anymore. He can just flick that shit and that shit will sail. Give him protection and he will kill a defense. Giants and the rams could no longer protect him.

Bears should have got him when they had a chance

2 superbowl appearances and a ring?

FOH

and the numbers and records he put up in 4 years , and only faded because of his thumb, to only reemerge as one of the best passers in the game..His numbers were sick last year and his numbers will be even sicker this year, plus he is 37

he had the best overall season any QB has ever had because the 2 that were statisticlly better, Marino and Manning, neither won the super bowl that year, while Kurt did..

and the comment that Hall of famers don't have bad years is just silly...it's rare that a hall of famer retires on top..usually they have had a couple of bad years before they hang it up..

Kurt is making a run at the hall of fame, right now....

Warner and Cunningham had bad years mostly because of lingering injuries or missed seasons but neither of them is getting in. I practically built a shrine to Randall in my den but his chances are borderline at best and they are still slightly better than Warner's.

Warner had a couple of fantastic seasons with the Rams and when he has been healthy he has been very good period.

But as far as HOF chances, nope, the late start as well as the thumb problems and other injuries keep him out. Injuries are only an excuse to a certain extent and other than Moon or other guys who were kept out due to unfair circumstances, the late jump is not an excuse at all.

Terrell Davis may or may not get in and he was as good if not better (always hard to compare by position) for longer.

Ken Anderson was also an NFL MVP and went to the Pro Bowl four times, compared with Warners two MVPs and three Pro Bowl selections (of course Anderson's totals are mostly higher).

There is no way Warner gets in. Is he a HOF-CALIBER player? Sure. Did he have a HOF career? Nope.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

they were both as good as it gets at their positions but not for long enough.

But Kurt might not be done yet, Arizona could win the NFC West then shock some people in the playoffs. It may sound far-fetched, but last week's 56-point debacle vs. the Jets notwithstanding, their defense is not that bad, and we already know they can score points.

compare passing numbers from the '70s to the late '90s. Johnnie Morton has more receptions than John Stallworth, too.

this one's misleading.

bob played in a run-first offense, similar to that of troy aikman. but it was even moreso with dr. bob, because he had not only one, but two 1,000-yard runners in csonka and morris.

but make no mistake, when the running game wasn't working or the fins needed some quick points thru the air, dr. bob was there, bro.

i saw too many games where griese was money.

Culpepper was the most clumsy among prolific passers (when he was one) as far as either throwing a big pick or just fumbling the football. His clumsyness distroyed him and he wasn't much when thrown on a different team to carry.

Warner on the other hand seems to be doing not-so-bad things with Arizona. Arizona could potentially be set for years @ QB position imo since Leinert seems to be a good student of the game that could learn from Warner who could do this for at least a couple more years.

They are absolutely different types of players.

But in Culpepper's three best years he had ratings of 96.4, 98.0 and 110.9. He led the NFL in TDs in 2000 and finished second to Peyton Manning in 2004 in a year which saw Manning have maybe the greatest QB season since Marino in 1984 (regardless Culpepper still threw for more yards and completed more passes). Couple that with the fact that he was rushing for 400+ yards every year (including a 600+ year in 2002 with 10 rushing TDs) and I think you have a guy who was an elite MVP caliber player for a few years and had a few mediocre year additionally. Three Pro Bowls and some flaws as a player including fumbling.

Kurt Warner's best was better than Culpepper, no question. In his three best years he had ratings of 98.3, 101.4 and 109.2. Warner led the league in completion percentage three times, TDs twice, yards once. He was the consensus MVP in 1999. But after getting hurt in 2002, he's muddled between a poor NFL QB to an above average NFL QB. Three Pro Bowls and some flaws as a player.

My point was not that they were similar players, but that they both had similarities in their careers. Warner took his team deep in the playoffs twice, winning one Super Bowl and losing another. Culpepper took his team to an NFC championship where they got slaughtered. I think Culpepper had three years as an excellent player and Warner had three distinctly better years.

Kurt Warner is better, but I don't think three years as an elite QB gets you into the HOF unless you've got several seasons as a great QB. Ken Stabler was a league MVP and won a Super Bowl, he's not in. I don't think Warner's career measures up to Ken Stabler's.

he can make a solid case
the more he keeps playing like this though ...

his case gets more solid

Ring? check
records? check
wins? hmm

only reason i could think of that is his main achillies heel
is just the stats and the off seasons

but last year he balled out
and is still bawling out now

I would say when he is on he is as good as any qb in the L

me personally
I feel there are many others that should get in before him
but he def has a decent case

its not a FUCK NO like everyone is acting like

joe montana had reconstructive surgery on his throwing elbow.

warner had some finger injuries he played through and mysterious concussions.

steve young became the starter for 1.5 years b/c of a single major injury.

marc bulger became the starter because of a variety of small injuries and warner's sudden demise.

maybe he should have taken a year or two off. but the situations aren't the same.

Concussions aren't anything to fuck around with. The same thing ended Steve Young's and Troy Aikman's careers.

Warner started a total of 7 games in 2 years because of multiple injuries including multiple concussions.

considering warner barely played in 2003, i'm trying to figure out how concussions explain his average play in NY. Especially when he was fine a couple years later in arizona.

how can you put qualifiers on the severity of Warner's head trauma? on some "well, it shouldn't have affected x year".

and while he was benched with the Giants, he did lead them to a winning record at the time.

due to injuries and lingering affects from the concussions he had suffered.

Playing in that Martz offense during the "Greatest Show on Turf" years was kind of a gift and a curse. He had great success but because they usually sent 5 receivers out in the pattern keeping only the 5 linemen into block Kurt took a hellacious number of hits in those years and unfortunately a big part of what make great QB's great is the ability and willingness to standing there and "look down the gun barrell"(c)Jaws, and take those hits to make the big plays.

I think he's just now in the last couple of years fully recovered from all the concussions he suffered with the Rams.

As far as NY, the job was never really his to lose anyway, he was just signed to a one-year deal to hold things down until Eli, whom they had given away the farm to acquire, was ready to start.

of benching. but it's not like warner was playing lights out (and i didn't bring up eli, someone else did. i was only talking warner).

the other aspect of the greatest show on turf is that it was a system that made good QBs look great--Bulger did, hell even Kitna put up big numbers under it.

so short time frame + great system = not HOF.

could he have been? maybe. is he? nah.

Bulger has NEVER put up numbers any where close to what Warner did in his prime, neither has Kitna.

your example is horrible. i didn't bring up brady because i'd be accused of being a homer or some shit.

brady was going to be a HOF before he had great WRs. and when he did have a great offensive team around him, he put up a year that shat on any other year prior.

he didn't have 5-6 years where he was an average/below average qb.

in a seven year career, he'd have been super bowl champ 3 times, 2 super bowl mvps, and a 10 game post season winning streak. WITH NO BAD YEAR.

i like kurt warner. he's a rock on my fantasy league teams. he saved a couple teams for me last year. he failed against my patriots, but my gramps is a die hard St. Louis fan, so I residually like them and the greatest show on turf was amazing to watch.

however, he's not in the hall of fame right now. brady was at the end of 2006.

considering they missed the playoffs one year and didn't advance past the divisionals in the latter.

Aaron Brooks and Trent Green were one big play behind him in both categories...not exactly revered company.

it's interesting to note that Brady's best statistical years don't coincide with New England's titles.

my proof was that he was the leader of the offense that won 3 super bowls.

the more interesting case is Seymour--he's slipped recently in impact(due in part to injury) and plays an unglamorous position for the Pats but is the anchor of that defense. Does he get in?

the pats offense is easy to figure out HOF wise--Brady. Vinatieri is likely to make it also as a kicker, i'd guess.

the defense from that era is trickier to determine. micginest? seymour? law?

law's interesting--much of his impressive time was lost in the bleh years before brady/belichick. then he left and became a good but not great corner. had he stayed, he'd be in, i think.

only had 2 great seasons in St. Louis and now one in arizona.

has been benched TWICE for other QBs. One of whom (bulger) kinda proved it was the WRs not the QB.

had a season in which his TD/INT ration was 3/11.

has been dominant only when also QBing for the best WR groups in the league.

has no longevity.

Bulger didnt have that luxury. And every where Warner has put up good numbers he's had the weapons around him to do so; I can still remember those St Louis days and Jimmy Johnson or Cris Collinsworth saying he's just a strong arm that can take a hit and get the ball to players better than him. That seems like an apt painting of his career.

So why hasn't Leinert had the same success as with same weapons as Kurt even though he's been given every opportunity to do so?

Its more to it than that, Kurts success is mainly because he has one of the quickest releases AND one of the mose accurate arms in football.

Because Leinert isn't as good of a pro qb; neither is a slew of qbs out there, that doesnt put Kurt in the company of Roger Staubach or Jim Kelly; it puts him in the company of, you know, Matt Hasselbeck and Jeff Garcia.

I would love to see Kurt Warner go to, say, Chicago and put up those sorts of numbers. It's a game of "what ifs" but still...he's got a great delivery but more importantly he's had great targets to deliver to.

aside from the marshall faulk aspect, warner succeeded when it was novel. bulger had to come in only after the patriots and some others had shown an aggressive bump and run could slow the show a little.

bulger's numbers aren't that much worse...except compared to warner's two GREAT years in that system. so is 2 years enough?

i'm not saying he isn't good enough talent-wise, but his career path doesn't inspire me to think HOF. unless he keeps it up in arizona for another couple of years and/or wins some playoff games with them (definitely possible, i'm just not putting him in the HOF until then).

this is a HUGE stretch. I'll agree on the Faulk effect, but one game against the illegally holding Patriots de-legitmizes an offense? and it's not like Belichick invented press coverage in the Super Bowl; every team tried every coverage against the Rams and were largely unsuccessful.

>bulger's numbers aren't that much worse...except compared to
>warner's two GREAT years in that system. so is 2 years

but Bulger wasn't as good. even in 2000, when Warner missed six games with concussions, he still had what would be an above average year for Bulger.

not really. but the offense has been stymied since. is that because the people running it aren't Kurt level or the offense is easier to adjust to? who knows. I meant it not as a moment of "belichick is the smartest ever" but more as the turning point from which the "Greatest show" became only a "great show" like other top quality offenses.

>but Bulger wasn't as good. even in 2000, when Warner missed

2002 and 2005 bulger are much better than 2000 warner. but bulger's been exposed--like kurt did. except that because kurt moved from team to team and has had a 1.5 year long kinda old guy whoo ride, he's suddenly a HOF again? i'm not convinced at all until he has 3 to 4 HOF years again. i don't know that last year was. this year could be.

his resume TODAY is nowhere near HOF status. he's had 2 UNREAL years. 1 potentially great year derailed by a concussion (2000), 1 good year in relief of Leinart, and this year.

^^^^is not my hall of fame.

that have lead to the Rams' demise -- Faulk's injuries, offensive line issues, the lack of depth at receiver, as well as Warner's own decline.

I'd put Belichick's one-game scheme near the bottom of those factors.

>2002 and 2005 bulger are much better than 2000 warner. but

listen, I'm not really arguing for or against Warner. it's an interesting case. but I had to contend with "Bulger proved it's all about the receivers." Bulger NEVER threw for 30 touchdowns. Bulger NEVER won a league MVP. Bulger NEVER won a Super Bowl. Bulger NEVER came close to Warner's apex with the Rams.

and why can't you go with the oversimplified mainstream media reason for its demise instead of the real reason? huh? STOP LIKING THE TRUTH SO MUCH!

edit: and i'll i said was that the pats showed how it could be slowed (and yes, it involed using illegal holding). not that they brought about its demise. cmon. i wasn't that bad.

what did Bulger kinda prove? that Torry Holt and Ike Bruce were good?

if Bulger had gone on to have similar success Warner, sure. but he hasn't...not by stats or wins. Bulger kinda proved that he wasn't anywhere near Warner in his prime.

>edit: and i'll i said was that the pats showed how it could be
>slowed (and yes, it involed using illegal holding).

Tampa Bay showed it could be slowed two years before that. Dungy and Belichick's success was less about the Tampa 2 or press coverage "exposing" the Rams, just two teams that executed on defense extremely well in those games.

Two MVPs and led some of the most exciting offensive explosions in recent memory.

And Warner has a chip, ranks top 5 all time in completion percentage and passing rating.

I'd say he belongs in the HOF.

In response to Reply # 46

Nash spent a couple years on the bench, sure, but that is different from Arena League and with injuries Warner lost even more time.

Nash was an all-star in Dallas at least twice and was probably robbed of a selection or two. He and Finley were both hurt in terms of fame by playing on a balanced team.

Further, you have to look at voting precedent. There are plenty of NFL MVPs who are not in Canton, but there are NO regular season NBA MVPs who are not in Springfield. In fact, all but one NBA MVP was on the 50 greatest players list. The award is more significant in the NBA as a predictor of HOF status.

I do think Nash will represent the first challenge to that precedent as I would have a hard time voting for him, but then again his career is not over and I do think he's close now.

Warner, on the other hand, is a guy who will be all over NFL films and be a legend because of his time with the Rams but won't make the hall unless he plays for a few more years. That seems like a reach.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Kurt Warner is playing right now folks... he is a current player...

the reason why Kurt is making a run at the Hall of fame right now is the doubts that would have rose because of his late Rams career, and most of his Giants career, are being erased by his PRESENT SUCCESS!!!

the man has been putting up Marino numbers since the middle of last year till right now...

Kurt Warner's career statistics are getting close to being a lock for the hall of fame.... that's all that needs to be said...

and those stats are getting added to every week, if you weren't knowing.

He wasn't given a chance the last six years. He's getting his chance now and he is performing just like EVERY OTHER TIME HE HAS BEEN GIVEN A CHANCE.

what, he didn't start the season in NYG?

oh wait, he did.

he didn't start in 2002 for the rams?

oh wait, he did.

and that certainly wasn't him starting the majority of the games in 2005 for the cardinals, was it?

His greatest accomplishments are behind him, all he can do is help highlight them.

He'll never be as productive as he was with the Rams or enjoy as much team success.

he'll always be one of my favorite players ever...for obvious reasons. Anyone who has been a Ram fan for as long as I've been a Ram fan, and who stayed a Ram fan through winning the super bowl... will always ride for Kurt...regardless..

but..

If he wasn't making a run at the HOF....I wouldn't have made the post...me being a fan is irrelevent to the fact that the guy is making a run at the hall.

110. "Compare him to Boomer Esiason"
In response to Reply # 0

I think most people here would agree that Boomer was a very good pro quarterback who is unlikely to ever get enshrined in Canton.

But take a look at dude's numbers.

1 MVP award
4 Pro Bowls
13th all-time in passing yards (37,920)
14th all-time in passing TDs (247)
One Super Bowl appearance
Threw for 522 yards in a single game (3rd best all-time)

A reasonable argument could be made that had the Bengals defense managed to stop Montana and the Niners in the closing minutes of Super Bowl XXIII, Esiason would be in Canton today.

Instead, he isn't. And like Charley Conerly before him and Warner after him, he probably never will.

The point I was trying to make is that Esiason is the better quarterback, and he's not getting in. And if he's not getting in, I can't imagine that Warner, who despite his ring has had a less impressive career than Esiason, has no chance.

In response to Reply # 138

His statline isn't just a reflection of his longevity.

And I'd argue that his MVP in 1988 would constitute at least, for a short period, greatness.

It's the age old "period of brilliance" vs. "sustained excellence" argument that comes up all the time.

It's what makes guys like Terrell Davis a borderline HOFer, too. There are always going to be voters who refuse to vote for him because of the small sample size.

Yes, Warner was phenomenal for a 3-4 year window. But he hasn't done enough since that window closed to merit induction IMHO.

Well, the fact that his career numbers are pretty pedestrian and he wasn't even the starter for the full season either year they won probably ain't helping his case.

Generally though if you win two as a starter, you're a lock.

he wasn't great for long enough to warrant a HOF induction.

there a lot of QB's in the HOF based solely on on the fact that they played in multiple Super Bowls. If you take a couple of those Super Bowl appearances away they're not getting in.

i can't think of a QB who played in multiple Super Bowls who was not pretty goddamn good. jim plunkett is one exception (going by the strictest definition of multiples) but he was not even a career starter.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

reason he made it was because he quarterback 3 SB teams, because he NEVER had big numbers statistically. He only throw 20+ TD's in a season ONCE in 12 seasons. You take away Troy's 2 best years and he falls somewhere between Joe Theismann and Jim McMahon career-wise.

"despite all the hype Aikman wasn't that great of a passer..."

that's exactly what I said, I stand on that. And regardless of what the reasons were for Troy not having great numbers, the bottom line is if you take 2 SB wins away from him he doesn't get in the Hall of Fame. You can link all the irrelevant posts you want, that point still stands.

And both guys played across from another very productive receiver with Lofton and Holt respectively.

Of them I would definitely place Bruce fourth on HOF probability. Holt has basically equaled his production in about two thirds the time, Reed was a gamer and top option in an offense that was less pass-heavy, and of course Lofton is already in.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Bruce had his best season statistically his second year in the league when he caught 119 balls for almost 1800 yards and 13 TD's and that was on a shitty team with Chris Miller at QB, the guys that lined up on the other side were a couple of Raider rejects named Alexander Wright and Jessie Hester, not exactly household names.

Because its basically 2 different eras in football. When Andre Reed played 70 catches was a great season. Late 90s early 2000s 90 to 100 catches became a great season.

You can't just look at numbers. Shit Troy Brown even caught 100 balls once.

Warner had a very good second half and put his team in position -- leading three scoring drives with some big 3rd down throws -- to win against a supposed NFC favorite.

Warner had the Cardinals up 24-14 with 3 minutes to play and had sliced Dallas up using Steve Breaston and Tim Hightower and his 2nd and 3rd best offensive weapons.

WC turning someone else into a parody?

>Warner had a very good second half and put his team in
>position -- leading three scoring drives with some big 3rd
>down throws -- to win against a supposed NFC favorite.

yeah...a favorite which anyone who can watch football knows has a weak ass secondary and the 17th rated pass defense.

he did well. but it wasn't a "big game" that we're all going to remember as HOF-esque. Part of it might have been. Just like part of his career has.

>Warner had the Cardinals up 24-14 with 3 minutes to play and
>had sliced Dallas up using Steve Breaston and Tim Hightower
>and his 2nd and 3rd best offensive weapons.

that's good. 24 pts on cowboys is right at their average for the year. it wasn't a great defense and he sucked for a half of the game. if that's "big", a lot lot lot of qbs are having big games frequently.

just b/c you don't like WC and think Warner shouldn't be in the HOF doesn't mean you need to make up crappy arguments

your complaints are terrible -- "under 250 yards!"

because 70 percent completion percentage, with a one-dimensional offense that was missing their 2nd best player isn't a good game?

and I didn't know "big game" meant NFL's all-time greatest performance.

Warner played well. just stop.

i have him on every fantasy team i'm on except one. i think he's a very good quarterback. a top ten qb in the league...maybe top five right now. probably top five.

i do think he shouldn't be in the hall of fame.

i don't think high completion rates + a win = "big game" in terms of HOF credentials. Was it a good game for him? yeah. did he lead his team to the win? he did his part, no doubt. did it hurt to have boldin out? of course.

of course, he was also up against a secondary missing its best player.

it was a good game. well above average. not one to bring up in a post about him deserving to be in the HOF. you're misrepresenting my point.

convenient how you leave Fitzgerald out of the list. it was against a shitty secondary. that was my point.

>nah, your still bugged about this whole HOF business. WC upped

wtf? it's a post about the HOF. WC upped it as though this game somehow was:
a. different from what warner's generally done this season (and, in fact, it was roughly average for his year so far).
b. significant enough that it somehow affected his HOF credentials (which, cmon. really?)
c. in any way is different from what any of us expect from Warner (an efficient pocket passing QB)
d. proves that right today, he's HOF worthy. Talk to me when he does this through this year and through next year. then we can discuss HOF candidacy, imo.

on points a through d, i disagree. like i said, it was a very good game. but "big" in terms of the HOF? LMAO. that's all.

dude, just STFU about Dallas' secondary. Fitzgerald is boss, I didn't conveniently leave him out (already mentioned him), but if you think Arizona had some kind of amazing advantage with Steve Breaston and 2.5 ypc Tim Hightower, your on coke. or...just MAD.

apparently, a quarterback can only have a good game if all his receivers suck, he's playing Deion Sanders and Rod Woodson in their prime and primary running back is Travis Jervey.

you're crying b/c WC upped it (and you never want him to be right) and you're still mad about this whole Warner in the HOF business.

Warner had a "big game" last Sunday, his team is leading their division and he's still putting up numbers and wins when most people assumed he was done. whether you agree with HOF or not, the preceeding paragraph is all truth.

neither. the only thing i'm mad about is that i don't understand why you're so into this argument as though I ever said Warner was ass.

>apparently, a quarterback can only have a good game if all his
>receivers suck, he's playing Deion Sanders and Rod Woodson in
>their prime and primary running back is Travis Jervey.

while funny, you've 100% misrepresented what i said. I said he had a good game. IT'S JUST NOT HOF WORTHY. christ.

let's be clear there's "good games". then there's "big games" then there are "HOF worthy epic games". three categories. that was a "good game" against an important opponent.

>you're crying b/c WC upped it (and you never want him to be

i don't know about "big game" but otherwise i don't disagree with any of that paragraph (i assume that's the one you mean and not the preceding one about me crying) and it's kinda ridiculous that you think i'd disagree with it when i've said all of it except the "big game" part.

help the argument for Kurt Warner in the HOF. did he have a signature, 400 yard, 5 TD, direct to NFL Films performance? no (and only you seem to think "big game" implies that).

but the fact he's still knocking off NFC contenders, with a short-handed offense and at this late stage in his career, is a positive for the Warner HOF argument (one I'm not on either side of, BTW).

it's clear you've invested so much into the idea of Warner not being in the HOF, you try to discredit every single plausible point -- esp. if WC makes it.

i've said from the jump that if he continues like he has that after another year or two (and if the cardinals make the playoffs. wins are important) he'd have a shot.

so him continuing as is changes nothing.

to me, big game means either a statistically large game or a major last minute drive/putting the team on his shoulders. the game was won on a punt block.

this hasn't been about me and WC except when you make it that way.

between "big" and "good". just like i said from the jump. did you have fun with this exchange?

not what i said at all. goddam, what happened to your reading comprehension? of course i have an opinion ("agenda" lmao. sports talk isn't serious enough for agendas).

>so you agree Warner is playing well and helping his candidacy?
>and your only dispute is the semantics behind "big game" and
>"good game"? and you're sure anger doesn't flow through you?
>lol.

i simply responded by laughing at that definition of "big game" as proving HOF worthiness (which is why it was put in this post about his HOF worthiness) because i don't agree that it was a "big game" for that. it was a fine game. average for a HOF candidate.

the only anger i have is at your constantly twisting and misrepresenting my words and opinions.

You know I rarely agree with WC... and I'm not sure myself of whether Warner belongs or not... but yes, the HOF committee does watch the regular season too, and this was a big win, and a lot of that win falls onto Warner's shoulder.

No, this won't make or break the argument... but it was a big day for Warner, because it put him on a good path towards winning his division, and it was a win over a very talented Dallas team.

yes. but when, in 5 to 10 years from now the HOF committee gathers to consider Warner's eligibility, this game will be important not because it was in any way remarkable, but rather as another game in which he was consistently good as a cardinal. i've, by the way, never denied that. i've just said he need to stay on this level for a while longer.

it was nothing new...so to call it a "big game" for him implies, to me (but apparently not to will--which is fine. his misrepresenting me was not cool, tho) that the game will be remembered as one of the games in which he staked a claim to the HOF instead of as a game in which he did a good enough job to stay a candidate, but didn't really raise his profile much at all.

to make a parallel to a QB I follow a bit more closely, this was more like Brady's game against the Jets in 2001 (important game and brady played mistake free and well) than it was his 03 game against Denver (the safety game).

in the same Mike Martz system in 2000?

Is Trent Green a HOFer?

Trent Green, in 5 starts in 2000 had 2000+ yds on 60% compeletions and a 16:5 TD:INT. And while Warner did it for longer, I think Trent Green is strong evidence that it was the SYSTEM that made the QB, not the other way around. Don't get me wrong, Warner and Green are both very good QBs. But I don't think either are HOF QBs.

i mean really... where he came from, how he got there, and to achieve what he did within such a short window was nothing short of awesome. i remember reading the article about him after the rams won that first game and i actually started watching football for that reason alone, and i stopped when he started to falter.

so no, i am not a big football guy, but i know that he did enough to get a guy who gave a rats ass about the sport to watch it, research it, and follow it.

so while my vote has no real value being a mostly non fan of the game, i'd say his achievements certainly warrant some long term recognition. he is the kind of guy who truly deserves to be immortalized for his accomplishments in his game.

consider that he's led the cards to a winning record so far, and first place in the division.

and he's still gunning, this despite a fucked-up throwing hand.

like him or hate him, warner's putting up numbers.

he's certainly hof-worthy in my book.

i had the stomach flu and a fever of 102. damn, give me more than a day. i didn't even really see the game cuz i was passing out every five minutes.

but i qualified in our exchanges that making and winning in the playoffs are the key for gaining my support for the HOF. he makes the super bowl (assuming he doesn't ride the D's coattails. and it's zona, so we know that ain't happening) and i'd vote for him.

which, of course, i've said. but you believe that not thinking he was HOF = hating. which is bizarre to me.

The 2 SB appearances BEFORE this year alone makes all the difference in the world.

Cunningham couldn't even match the post-season success of McNabb or Jaws who both took us to a SB showdown.

I was convinced before this season, yet he probably read this thread and was compelled to nail the argument in his favor by making Philly his bitch to convince those of you who started this post & voted nay.

If this shit never existed he wouldn't have been motivated enough to beat my gang green machine, so fuck the thread starter & fuck those of you who voted no. May your football team's secondary become the next to get sodomized by Kurt in the next post-season game that they'll play.

and they were @ their best ever when Kurt was QB, the years '99-'02

before then, Rams had at least one SB appearance and had the misfortune of being in the division containing the SF 49ers during their age of dominance; they were in the playoffs during that time, often.

His glorious (4) seasons are greater than a good 12yr consistent career with no rings & no mvps. He has lead (2) different teams to the Superbowl which I don't think has ever been done before.

He has led the flucking Arizona Cardinals to the Superbowl?!? Think about that, then think about it again.

2MVPs, 1 'chip MVP, 1 Superbowl, 2 different teams to Superbowl ...

Yes, he's HOF, no doubt!

get warm against us and give Fitz the opportunities to succeed and make that game THE GAME IT WAS, YES.

No, he didn't win but damm if he didn't show up. @ 300 plus yards passing. Took the shots. Got back up. Did it again.

Not to mention what he did BEFORE tonight.

Hats off to the man and I hope he gets in the HOF.

(Sneezes) Sorry, I am allergic to bullsh#t.

You sound like you want me to change your mind. I ain't here for all of that sh@t. I'll explain my side and that's it.

next year he's likely to go over 30k yards passing & 200 TDs.. If he plays long enuff to get to 35K yards & over 230TDs, I doubt anyone could argue against him. That would put him in Elway, Young, Kelly territory statistically. On top of that, he's got a career 93 QB rating, 2 league MVPs, 3 SB appearances (w/ 2 different teams), 1 SB win...

I think he's likely in now but improving on his numbers over the next year or so makes him a lock.

Tom Brady and Big Ben are the only other two you can make an argument for (QBs in this era). I'll give you Tom but Ben hasn't played long enough.

Kurt gets a seat near Joe and John Elway at the all time table.

And he's statistically better than them.
