"Yo, I think the CELTICS are going to regret not making any moves"

during the half way mark...yeah, they got Nate but Nate, alone, doesn't put them back in the championship mix in my opinion. He'll give them a spark off the bench but that's abt it.

I also read that Pierce and Garnett and some other Celtic teammates went to Rivers and the front office and told them not to trade Allen...that they believed they could contend once they got healthy.

I still think the health issue wasn't their main problem. You can't get healthier but you can't get younger.

I don't even know who is the "man" for this team right now. Is it Pierce? Rondo? Who?

They tried to get Jamison and Butler but that didn't work out. I think the Warriors wanted Rondo for Ellis. The Suns wanted more for Amar'e. I don't think Kevin Martin is necessarily better than Ray or worth having to take back a bad contract like Noc or Udrih. They couldn't have even beaten the offer of a smaller deal like Warrick for Salmons.

I wouldn't be stunned if they looked to move KG this offseason but they weren't likely to do that right now and they couldn't get a deal that made sense in the present and long term at the deadline.

I would have loved it if they could have made a deal and gotten something for Ray's expiring deal but apparently the deals weren't out there.

really want to let go of anyone because they still believe they can compete for a title this year. And why couldn't they give up Allen for Butler?

Maybe there wasn't any deals that appealed to them but I also think they weren't that eager to make any sweeping changes to their team anyway.

Of course Doc's going to say that he didn't want a trade. Tough to coach the team if you say that they can't win.

The Butler deal was probably on the owner. The Wizards wanted to dump salary and I could see Wyc and Co. refusing to take back Stevenson's contract.

And even if they did, Ellis and Rondo are a lousy backcourt. Teams would collapse into the paint and force them to shoot all day.

Then again, if the Warriors would have agreed to that trade, I would have shipped Ellis off in a heartbeat for Mayo and Thabeet. But they didn't want a pure salary dump (which is what they would have been) so that deal was never an option.

for a championship caliber team? You put a ball dominant combo guard next to rondo? That's crazy. What they need is Ray Allen to not play like shit and hope Nate can create points off the bench without hurting them defensively. their second unit is the problem.

GS team that knocked Dallas out in the 1st rd? Baron Davis was the point guard and Ellis played well and he was only a rookie then...he's gotten a lot better since then. I think he would've adjusted his game to fit in with the C's.

As far Allen, what you see is what you get from him at this point in his career. He was up and down last year in the playoffs and I don't see that changing this year. He's 34 and he's not going to give you consistent play night in, night out anymore. Ellis, on the other hand, is a bonafide scorer and that's what the Celtics have been missing most this season.

..would be after this year with KG Pierce & Allen not getting any younger. Rondo seems to be the only guy that'll still be performing full steam 4 years from now with those guys being question marks as they climb upwards in their 30's.

to be the difference maker....

I heard some NBA analysts as well as Phil Jackson say that trading House for Nate won't benefit the Celtics as much they're thinking.

Phil said Nate is an instant "striker" and you need that coming from your bench. Nate is a better scorer but he often times takes too many ill advised shots. Eddie always played within himself.

always plays within himself." all the fuck he did/does is shoot the ball.

Nate Robinson is only being asked to do the same. Bring some scoring off the bench. Nate is a better scorer than house is. and ballhandler and defender.

Boston would not have given up most of these leads had they had someone with the second unit to score. He can and without anyone creating the shot for him, unlike house.

it was an upgrade for what boston needs and it will be impactful. Keep hating though.

yeah, but I've seen Nate play outta control and that has always been the knock against him...this was part of his problem in NY.

oh so now it's the 2nd unit why the C's have been losing. lol

"Hate?" really? I couldn't care less abt who the Celtics acquired, they still ain't coming out of the East. LOL

Go ahead and put your faith lil Nate...as if that's all they needed was someone a good bench scorer...

At this point I'm thinking Ray Allen is being underrated.

For all the talk about him slowing down, I think he's averaging the 2nd most points on the Celtics.

I don't think there were any available guards that are an improvement over Ray.

He'll take a pay cut next year and hopefully they can find someone he can tutor for a season, then become the starter.

The ones they need to be worried about are KG and Rasheed.

KG shows flashes of his previous level, but he is definitely hurt and/or getting old quickly. Rasheed has been a bust and acts like he's waiting for the playoffs before he gets serious.

They may be the 4 seed by that time, though.

And then say that if they had made some mythical trade, they could have won it all. Right about now, the Celtics seem worse off for the move they did make.

The bottom line is that Ray has been huge and Rondo's taken the step to the next level and nobody we could have realistically gotten in return would have had the impact they've had.

robinson was as big of an acquisition as anyone made and as far as the Cs goes it was good short term by adding the third guard they needed and gave them a younger guy they could either re up or move. that's what i'd have said then and i still think it even though he has done nothing in the postseason.

he has been getting no tick since he came over really but how can anyone think he does not help them match up with orlando and, more so, the lakers? or that boston was out of shit, i mean i picked the cavs but it's not like i am SHOCKED the cs won.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
