"Isiah "Bad Dad" Thomas"

Hey Basaglia I guess Isiah and Larry are alike

Isiah's 19-year-old love child takes shot at dad he's never met

I should get to say two words to my father: 'Hello. Goodbye.'

By DARREN EVERSON in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.,
and DAVE GOLDINER in New York
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

Isiah Thomas

Isiah Thomas' teenage love child said yesterday he's long ached to meet his famous father - but the embattled Knick boss has denied him a shot.
Speaking out for the first time, Marc Dones, 19, an aspiring writer whose mom had a brief affair with a then-engaged Thomas two decades ago, said he still pines for an opportunity to get to know the father he's only seen on TV.

"People should be parents. That's it," Dones said. "By the time I turn 20, I should get to say two words to my father: 'Hello. Goodbye.' If that's it, then I should get those two."

Dones said he's called Thomas twice, but never got a response.

"I'd like to speak to him. I'd like to know him," said the dreadlocked young poet. "But that's not the situation I'm in."

Dones broke his silence just days after Thomas, a married father of two, was accused in a federal lawsuit of sexually harassing Anucha Browne Sanders, a Knicks executive.

Thomas, 44, has denied the allegations.

"I don't know anything about any of this. It has nothing to do with me," Dones said. "I don't have an opinion about what kind of person he is. I don't know him."

But the well-spoken teenager, who wore jeans and a T-shirt and held a cigarette as he stood outside his family's townhouse in suburban Detroit, had plenty else to say - and revealed planning to write a memoir about his unique family life.

Dones is 5-foot-10 and has an athletic build, but said he's not interested in being a star athlete like his Hall of Fame dad.

"It's just chasing a ball," he said of basketball, the sport that made his father rich and famous. "I don't know why you'd do that."

A talented poet and writer, Marc Dones went to the Roeper School, an elite private academy outside Detroit. He plans to attend the New School University in New York this fall.

His mother, Jenni Dones, got pregnant during a 1985 affair with Thomas, just two months before the then-NBA superstar player married his current wife, Lynn.

Jenni Dones has claimed she had a three- or four-month relationship with the Detroit Pistons All-Star, but her lawyer agreed with Thomas' version that it was a one-night stand.

After Marc Dones was born in 1986, Thomas admitted being the father and agreed to pay $52,000, plus $2,764.78 per month until Marc turned 18 - and then a lump sum of $100,000 to the youth.

Jenni Dones later sued for more support, claiming that her lawyer had failed to get a good enough deal from Thomas.

Again, the NBA star agreed to fork over more dough to support his child.

"He acted honorably, as far as I'm concerned," said Elbert Hatchett, the lawyer who represented Jenni Dones and was later sued by her.

Jenni Dones, who was at a family funeral yesterday, was not reachable for comment.

Kevin Mintzer, a spokesman for Sanders, declined to comment yesterday as did Raynor Grossman, a spokeswoman for Thomas.

No one answered the door at the Westchester mansion where Thomas lives with his wife and their two teenage children.

Jenni Dones' mother, Edwynna Anderson, was a prominent lawyer, a trailblazing black journalist in Michigan and a Detroit prosecutor.

Jenni Dones, a single mom, went on to have another child, now 13. She once ran a program in the urban studies center at Wayne State University in Detroit but apparently no longer works there.

She filed twice for bankruptcy protection, most recently in December, legal records show.

But Marc Dones called his mom a "very strong woman" who had long since moved on from the affair with Thomas.

"My mom doesn't believe in regret, which is shaping a lot of my dealing with it," he said. "There's no point. It happened. It's over."

"She's more than capable of dealing with my father, for one, and dealing with the world, for two," he added.

Even without a father, the teenager says he's had a good life and is resigned that he might never get to know his dad, who is running the struggling Knicks.

"We've never had a relationship," Dones said of Thomas. "I don't think we will. ... My life is completely separate."

He's already had work published on TheDetroiter.com, an artsy Web site in the Motor City.

"What amazes me, for his age, is his grasp of poetry," said Eric Novack, the site's literary editor. "He is an incredible young man."

Despite Thomas' refusal to have any contact with him, Dones said he won't allow himself to be eaten up with bitterness.

"That's my life - there's nothing I can do about it," he said. "It doesn't upset me. When I was younger, yes. Having known it no other way, there's no reason to be bitter about it.

"I don't hold him any malice. I don't have any ill will," he added as he hustled the family's dog, Charlie, a black Labrador retriever and Shih Tzu mix, into the backyard.

"It's hard to have any ill will toward someone who you don't have a relationship with."

Bird has a son too, so according to you, sinc ehe's 50% on raising kids, he should at least be Kinda Bad Dad.

But look at it this way Bags, he's pretty much put to rest the gay rumors right? I mean, a love child means he really is fucking women on the side, not men, so I guess that should make you happy.

(or sad, I guess, sonsidering how much you wanna be on his nuts).

dogg, isiah has paid for the education of several of his NBA peers and it's not reported. to me, he's a good dude. isiah looked out for the veteran players when he was NBAPA prez (which is why many mid-level former players fuck wit him and why many star players don't...he wouldn't take money from the scrubs to give to the rich) now, since this story broke i have questioned zeke's reasoning myself and i can only surmise that his wife ain't want no baby mama drama. period. he ain't cheat on his wife. the kid was conceived way before they were married. he did what he had to do to make sure the kid grew up healthy and didn't need shyt. and i don't blame him for not sacrificing his marriage tryna incorporate some chick he hit right quick into his life. it's cruddy and all, but you know what? so's telling your girl to get an abortion. now, you can take this shit personal all you want, but i'mma stay real about it.

Forfeiting a pick for a shot at a potentially dominant player like Curry (who I admit, hasn't worked out as well as supposed to) is worse than drafting Kwame Brown as the #1 OVERALL pick, over

2. Tyson Chandler Dominguez (CA) HS LA Clippers
3. Pau Gasol FC Barcelona (Spain) Atlanta
4. Eddy Curry Thornwood (IL) HS Chicago
5. Jason Richardson Michigan State Golden State
6. Shane Battier Duke Vancouver
7. Eddie Griffin Seton Hall New Jersey
8. DeSagana Diop Oak Hill (VA) Academy Cleveland
9. Rodney White Charlotte Detroit
10. Joe Johnson Arkansas Boston
11. Kedrick Brown Okaloosa-Walton (FL) CC Boston
12. Vladimir Radmanovic FMP Zeleznik (Yugo) Seattle
13. Richard Jefferson Arizona Houston
14. Troy Murphy Notre Dame Golden State
15. Steven Hunter DePaul Orlando
16. Kirk Haston Indiana Charlotte
17. Michael Bradley Villanova Toronto
18. Jason Collins Stanford Houston
19. Zach Randolph Michigan State Portland
20. Brendan Haywood North Carolina Cleveland
21. Joseph Forte North Carolina Boston
22. Jeryl Sasser Southern Methodist Orlando
23. Brandon Armstrong Pepperdine Houston
24. Raul Lopez Real Madrid (Spain) Utah
25. Gerald Wallace Alabama Sacramento
26. Samuel Dalembert Seton Hall Philadelphia
27. Jamaal Tinsley Iowa State Vancouver
28. Tony Parker Basket Racing (France) San Antonio

Ummm...I disagree holmes. There's at LEAST 6-8 players I'd take over Kwame right now and this is just the first round

Abdul Jabbar, Muggsy Malone you

Well, 2 things
1. He HAS shown that he's playing better, and he's shed 35 lbs in comparison to the guy we traded away, who's gained weight. He's outplayed the guy we traded away
2. This year's lottery isn't necessarily chock full of great ballers...outside of Redick, Morrison, and Williams, it's not really a good draft at all (If this were 2003, I would be HEATED)
3. At this stage, Eddy Curry has been LIGHT YEARS ahead of Kwame Brown, who was again, the #1 overall pick. I think almost everyone in that draft has outplayed him.

If you consider that worse, then we'll just have to disagree then. But since this years draft isn't strong, and Curry has already outplayed Brown, I can't say that drafting Kwame Brown with the #1 overall pick was a BETTER move than the Curry deal.

>1. He HAS shown that he's playing better, and he's shed 35 lbs
>in comparison to the guy we traded away, who's gained weight.

How, by having a good game last week followed by an awful game and 2 blah games? He's still crazy inconsistent offensively, still can't rebound for shit and still can't play D.

>He's outplayed the guy we traded away

yeah but we also traded away a lottery pick this year and a potential lottery pick next year, and we gave him a $60 million contract to boot. I don't see how the moderate difference in production between Curry and Sweetney is worth all that.

>2. This year's lottery isn't necessarily chock full of great
>ballers...outside of Redick, Morrison, and Williams, it's not

Well seeing as how the Knicks have the 3nd worst record in the league right now, it's a pretty good chance they'll get one of the top 3 picks. not to mention that if they get a good lottery pick next year it'll probably go to Chicago (and Greg Oden should be in the draft next year)

>If you consider that worse, then we'll just have to disagree
>then. But since this years draft isn't strong, and Curry has

No, what I said was it *might* turn out almost as bad or maybe even worse in the end. Obviously it remains to be seen who gets drafted with the picks traded away in the deal, but with Curry not progressing as hoped and the Knicks stinking up the court and lining up for a top lottery pick that'll just go to Chicago it's looking pretty bad.

President Josiah Bartlet: Chapter and verse. I wanted to ask you a couple of questions while I have you here. I'm interested in selling my youngest daughter into slavery as sanctioned in Exodus 21: 7. She's a Georgetown sophomore, speaks fluent Italian, always cleared the table when it was her turn. What would a good price for her be? While thinking about that, can I ask another? My Chief of Staff Leo McGarry insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35: 2 clearly says he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself or is it okay to call the police? Here's one that's really important because we've got a lot of sports fans in this town: touching the skin of a dead pig makes one unclean. Leviticus 11: 7. If they promise to wear gloves, can the Washington Redskins still play football? Can Notre Dame? Can West Point? Does the whole town really have to be together to stone my brother John for planting different crops side by side? Can I burn my mother in a small family gathering for wearing garments made from two different threads? Think about those questions, would you? One last thing: while you may be mistaking this for your monthly meeting of the Ignorant Tight-Ass Club, in this building, when the President stands, nobody sits.

Find a post where I'm quoting SITKOL as the final point of any discussion. My point was consider the source, context, and intent. The quote had nothing to do with homosexuality, but everything to do with self-righteousness.

Is it any wonder I retired when it was announced that Larry Bird was retiring and they were replacing him with the father of faggoty, poem reading, dreadlocked, boho, chocolate highway driving, illegitimate son?

Not just me, but hall of famer Chris Mullin (who does a good job as a GM), the best posting up PG in history, Mark Jackson, and a man who could serve as Suge Knights bodyguard, Dale Davis??

I may have been the only one who noticed, but I accidentally caught a look at Zeke when he was kissing Magic before the 92 all-star game and his flag was flying, had a real tepee going on in his pants, you know what I mean? I don't want the Dutch phrases to get lost in translation. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Giving away the only two decent big men the Knicks have had since Ewing's 1997 season (I was there) in the Mutombo and Harrington trade for Jamal Crawford and Jerome Williams.

AND he traded Nazr Mohammed
AND he traded Kurt Thomas
AND the center he inked to a 5 year deal to replace Thomas got suspended indefinitely
Zeke's most successful move in over 2 years was naming Kelly Tripucka a scout for the team

In response to Reply # 48

Meanwhile Miller is in Sactown making quotes like:

source: http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060110/SPORTS04/601100431/1004/SPORTS

"'There's no place like home' as he stood in their locker room."

"If it's possible, when I'm done with this, I'll try to finish up there," Miller said. "There won't be an issue of a contract. Whatever it takes. I'll take the minimum."

and

"One day, I'll hopefully get back there and wear these new (Pacers) uniforms, instead of the old pinstripes," he said.

While people are quitting on your team, ready to die of heart attacks, and trying to escape from New York more than Kurt Russell.

BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!

Yes trades are governed by player ability levels and team needs, but there are also economics involved in the professional level.

Zeke's economic skills obviously don't extend beyond bankrupting the CBA and now owing hundreds of thousands in back child support.

i've told him the same things the last few months that you just posted, and it doesn't matter to him. he's biased against bird, and for Zeke... no matter how many facts you present to him.

also... Reggie Miller's contract was up that summer as well. So he had to pay JO, Reggie, and Brad in the same summer... after paying Croshere and Bender all that money. Like you said, the Simons (owners of the team) didn't want to pay the luxury tax (and still don't)... so Larry and Donnie had to make a decision. Let one of the three go... well, you can't let JO go, he was the future. You can't let Reggie go, he's the franchise. So, they decided to sign and trade Brad for Pollard & Ferry. It's about all he could get considering the luxury tax threshold and the Simons' insistence on not paying it.

76. "Bird did... and what?"
In response to Reply # 73

i never said Bird didn't insist.
i never said Bird's shit didn't stink.
also, Walsh & the Simons had to sign off on that deal as well, but Bird did get Croshere signed... back in 2000, before Isiah came in.
when Bird makes suspect moves, i've talked about it.
of course, like i've said before, you'll ignore of all that for your agenda.

in retrospect, the Croshere signing hasn't set the team back as much as the Bender signing, and that was Donnie's responsibility. we've actually gotten something out of Croshere, we've gotten nothing from Bender.

like no other famous athlete hit that alleged woman magic caught that shit from. be reasonble. it's fucking suspect. and if zeke did that that shit, i wouldn't blame him, because it's *that* suspect.

How did Magic supposedly win more than Zeke? Zeke came from the projects of Chicago and vastly improved his life and the life of his family (even the son he doesn't speak to, from the article Zeke still payed child support). So how has Zeke lost?

let's look at the track records...

1. i don't post about you faggots in threads you aren't even mentioned in or on other boards.

2. i see my name flying outta your mouths all the time. do i care to confront your dumbasses on it all the time? please...i don't say shit 80% of the time.

3. i write it off as "mad crackers and mad dumb ass niggas being mad about dumb shit."

4. i laughed at zeke my damn self. i ain't know that nigga had a illegit child. but the bottomline is that he ain't *my* son and my anthem ain't changing. corrie bird want her daddy and jordan got some yellow ass eyes.

5. if i'm disciplined enought to ignore y'all wack asses hating on me when i ain't even involved in the discussion, what makes you think i lost any sleep over some shit that don't concern me?

man, it's shtick. i think it's funny. i laugh at it and i go home. i don't go over to General Discussion and talk about any of you faggots, because i'm mad at everything y'all say. that's *Y'ALL*

you thought you had one, but that shit gonna fade away, because none of you are original enough to sustain it beyond a few weeks. hell, all y'all done so far is turn my jokes on me. good stuff.

In response to Reply # 135

Vince Young: Making defenders steamingly mad since 2006:

40thStreetblack:

Weakside Linebacker, USC Trojans. Was actually also the weakside
linebacker on the Michigan Wolverines in the 05 Rose Bowl.

This defense has no strong-side, hence the dual weakside backers.

Rough game for him.

In his crusade to show how Isiah's breaking story was exclusively a
local NY story, and was not accumulating national attention, he asked, confidently:

(Post 237)
"show me where it has been covered by a paper outside NY."

http://board.okayplayer.com/okp.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=258538&mesg_id=260622

Sadly, he was greeted with(Post 243):

http://board.okayplayer.com/okp.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=258538&mesg_id=260677

"These are the headlines from the FIRST google search I did
One, from a more obscure website (like the one you posted)
http://www.eurweb.com/story.cfm?id=24591&pid=baw"

"And this one, from the Chicago Sun-Times
http://www.suntimes.com/output/couch/cst-spt-greg01.html"

That bomb from Rexlongfellow landed directly, causing 40th to
look like a cross between this cracka:

ttp://allboxing.ru/foto/albums/userpics/10009/normal_capt.njdc10206260508.gatti_mayweather_njdc102.jpg

and this nigga:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/more/boxing/news/1997/11/09/holyfield_moorer/right_knockdown_ap.jpg

But he got up.

40thStreet then ballistically went around trying to bury his misery.
He can be found rampaging around, quoting Kool G. Rap, throwing
up ^^^^ at every Basaglia post, looking, and sounding like:

http://www.bernat.com/data/pattern/image/image_274.jpg

Even worse, 40th shows us his race-baiting side when he screameth(post 365):

http://board.okayplayer.com/okp.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=258538&mesg_id=261822

"ironically, LOTR(Lord of the Rings) is more racist than 95% of the
shit he(Orbit) complains about"

So--

40th ardently argues against the idea that racism is behind the
difference in media coverage between Isiah Thomas and Larry Bird's
careers(in whole disagreement with Bshelly), yet does find racism in
the land of Hobbits**.

**He race baits about 'cism on middle earth

He doesn't race bait about 'cism on real earth.

Suppress your laughter.

Let's inhale, exhale, and think about that one for a second.

In response to Reply # 0

Bags took a big dive here, but his problem was not the breaking story that Isiah is in fact a bad dad.

His problem was his approach to fighting back.

He actually could have used this breaking story to his advantage, but fucked it up entirely.

You see, Orbit would have reverse slammed this one beautifully, like he usually does.

This story is, in fact, the perfect controlled experiment for societal 'cism:

i never even knew about the Larry Bird "bad dad" story until Basaglia himself told it. Neither did 99.999% of Okayplayers. Most of the known universe didn't know it.

When the exact same story broke about Isiah Thomas(actually less bad, but for arguments sake let's say the situations are the exact same), it became a nationwide story.

What Orbit would have done was used this, intelligently, to show how biased the reporting of similar situations were, similar to how Larry Bird's coaching and front office work has been no better than Isiah's, yet is widely understood as being better. This is also related to how Ainge, and Mchale, and company have also been at least as bad as Isiah, yet receive none of the backklash(these ideas are beyond debate, even to Isiah haters).

Bags had a beautiful parallel that he completely ruined -- not only are Isiah's basketball blunders magnified because of his race, his personal blunders are magnified because of his race.

Beautiful.

This would have been beautiful, because all the white people would have then gotten flustered and replied with:

"New York is a bigger market"

"Prove that Isiah's story received more coverage"

"Bird's story did get as much coverage"

All completely wrong and ludicrous, of course.

White people would have copped pleas on behalf of their objective white media, even the liberal yts, and Orbit would have used that as an avenue to reverse the discussion into:

"white OKplayers ardently defend the objectivity of the media."

I likely would have poked at the Dan Rather issue, the OJ Simpson-Time Magazine-skin darkening issue,Katrina, and countless others that are irrefutable evidence of media bias.

The great thing is that I wouldn't even need to like Isiah Thomas to do so, because I have no personal non-basketball court feelings of any kind for Isiah Thomas either way(great, great, great, player). I would have railroaded this to another topic, made fun of people's sexual orientations, hurt some feelings, and even better, no one would have been sharp enough to catch on to what I was doing.

It would have been classic.

Oh well.

Its thinking like this that seperates the Orbits from the silver medalists.

I read everyone's post. It's a message board. That's kind of how this whole thing works. Doesn't change the fact you tried to put yourself on a soapbox(unsuccessfully) and feed that ego of yours(unsuccessfully).

>In which case I'm not talking to myself at all.

You came in here and wrote a damn step-by-step dissertation about what you would do in this situation, unprovoked and uninvited. Care to point out your audience?

>But am talking to people like you.

Okay. For one, I'm completely sonning several people in this very thread, and doing so completely effortlessly.

Two, the fact that you read and commented affirms that fact that I wrote my post to be read by others, and not to be read by me.

In which case I wasn't "talking to myself at all."

Which means you were wrong.

Perhaps I missed the guidelines that specificied that one need be invited to partake in a forum conversation. The last I remember, registering and choosing a login with a password gave members that right.

Either you are an idiot, or yt and flustered for making that comment. I'm leaning towards the latter, however the two are not mutually exclusive.

>OK, fag (look! a homophobic defense! we're a lot alike!).

Hmm.

Doesn't make sense.

Used to hide flustered-ness.

Just leave it alone.

We can do a one-post slavery flashback.

That is what this thread was supposed to be about(in reference to all the ganging up on the black guy, even though Bshelly clearly agrees with Basaglia at least as much as he does the other slave owners).

I bet you didn't expect to have to deal with OE.

I mean, you are the one who read my post, than accused me of writing it to myself.

You see -- your reading, and response, sort of justifies my post, and affirms that in fact, it was meant to be read by others and elicit a response.

Not to mention your suggestion that I was "uninvited" to this exchange.

That hurt my feelings.

>You and Basa take simultaneous L's = archive

Interesting, because I'm not even playing.

Bshelly is the one who agrees with Basaglia.

He and Basaglia took the L's here.

You forcing a game here isn't quite an L...I'll reserve that letter for better times.

It is indicative that you are flustered.

>Your insecure ass correlating me calling you black to me
>calling you a nigger = archive

It wouldn't be a reply to an OE post without a Strawman.

Like I say to most of you: At least try to hide it.

Geez.

>You thinking you won anything = triple archive

Oh no. I didn't claim a victory here.

I'm just making yours a lot less sweet.

LOL. That's a damn plea. You're posting in this thread and claiming empty victories per usual with every Basaglia post.

Forcing game ain't mocking someone for writing 2,000 words on an already-dead subject. Forcing game is... well, writing 2,000 words on an already-dead subject.

I didn't read your whole post, and I'm not really interested in arguing with you, because I've read enough from you to know I usually disagree with you and you won't agree with me.

I was really only stating that because it seemed like you were giving Bags credit for basically breaking the story. He didn't do anything of the sort, Boston fans knew that shit.

It doesn't seem like there's some huge national furor over Zeke, it's pretty much that story and this board. The same thing happened with Bird, I suppose, but its an older story, before this board was around, and before the internet boom. Coverage was much different back then.

EDIT: This is from a New York paper. was this on the sports news shows, did people really get up in arms over this? becauser there's been not one mention in the Boston papers. I'm just saying, it may feel like its a national issue with the way we're posting on it, but I don't see any big national thing going on. I could be wrong, but I haven't seen it.

99.9999% of you did not know this story before Bags broke it.

That is almost beyond debate. It certainly isn't the point of contention here, so don't retreat to even worse arguments just because the one you are advancing currently is falling.

then here's mine:

Grew up in Philly/South Jerz-I heard the Larry Bird story about fifteen years ago, sometime around the time the SI Cover about deadbeat dads came out (with Bird's story featured in it).

Currently live in L.A.-Only heard the Zeke shit by seeing this post and I read the LA Times daily, check philly/espn.com and watch sports highlights in the morning and at night.

i mean, there's a small element of truth to the statement that zeke gets more shit than mchale or ainge or bird because it's new york. that's a 5 percent part of the coverage disparity.

but of course it's racist. the irony is that bags screams CISM for every rightful, just condemnation the sane world offers of what might be the worst GM tenure in league history that isn't directly attributable to Don Sterling but lets this one go, which is CLEARLY motivated by the desire to pile on a black man.

but i'll admitt, that aspect of it is purely secondary to the petty, vindicative satisfaction i get from watching the biggest waste of bandwidth to ever occupy this board, the guy most responsible for ruining any chance of having a good debate on race in sports here take the biggest L in board history and have his entire schtick destroyed with one article.

I really didn't want to do this. I was perfectly happy joining you in the Basaglia criticism, but you sorta fucked yourself here.

Read on.

>i mean, there's a small element of truth to the statement
>that zeke gets more shit than mchale or ainge or bird because
>it's new york. that's a 5 percent part of the coverage
>disparity.

Hmm. Sounds like a plea cop to me. Like I said, even the liberal whites will defend the disparity in coverage, and will fall on the "New york is a bigger market" crutch.

>but of course it's racist. the irony is that bags screams
>CISM for every rightful, just condemnation the sane world
>offers of what might be the worst GM tenure in league history

"but of course it's racist." (C) Bshelly

Okay, so basically Basaglia is correct that Isiah receives unwarranted hate because of his race.

You simply think Basaglia is wrong for trying to let this slide. We agree there.

The problem is that Basaglia is still 100% correct:

Isiah is hated on, in part, because he's black.

Larry Bird is pardoned, in part, because he's white.

You just agreed to that.

In which case Basaglia's capital L shrinks from a 36 point capital L to a 12 point lower case L.

Because his actual stance is still correct.

Mind you, you just made this argument.

>but i'll admitt, that aspect of it is purely secondary to the
>petty, vindicative satisfaction i get from watching the
>biggest waste of bandwidth to ever occupy this board, the guy
>most responsible for ruining any chance of having a good
>debate on race in sports here take the biggest L in board
>history and have his entire schtick destroyed with one
>article.

"but of course it's racist." (C)Bshelly

I don't know about that. You just affirmed his suspicion that Isiah is treated poorly because of his race, in which case you share more in common with Bags than you think.

In fact, you probably share more in common with Basaglia than Basaglia does with most your white friends, who continuously engage Basaglia specifically on the very notion that Isiah is in fact treated different because of his race.

So maybe you should debate your white friends, who you disagree with, instead of Basaglia, who you do agree with:

"but of course it's racist." (C)Bshelly

The reason why you wont, however, is because you white guys like ganging on up black people, which proves another one of Basaglia points, which further decreases his 12 point lower case L to a subscript lower case L.

Not powerful posting by you.

You could have just kept quiet and savored the moment.

Now your grand moment will be forever archived with Orbit_Established making a complete fool of the alleged victors, all while not defending Basaglia's actions in their entirety.

Which is again, the type of posting that seperates the Orbits from the silver medalists and Bshellys.

I'm a good poster.

if a white guy made zeke's moves in new york, would he receive as much criticism? it's a fair question to ask. i mean, bob whittsit is the only GM who approaches the sheer mind bending stupidity of the zeke era that i can think of. he didn't exactly get a pass in the national media. we also have to remember that it's basically two sources that drive the zeke debate on this board: bill simmons and bags, neither of which are without agenda. but given simmons's spotty racial record, and given this intangible feeling that there's a certain element of glee in watching the black man fail, and given that we still live in America, yeah, race has been part of the coverage of the zeke era.

but less so than it would be in 95 percent of the coverage of black athletes elsewhere, because zeke's tenure has been truly awful. it's not even like he made moves that made sense at the time and blew up. it seemed as if he was intentionally trying to wreck the knicks. they are moves that everyone and their mother knew were panicked at the time, they made no sense at the time, and what the knicks are today was completely predictable and are a direct result of his moves. when you're mentionned in the same breath as bob whittsit, you know you fucked up. add that to his failure with the cba and the pacers, and you have a guy who shouldn't have a position of authority with any real responsibility in the NBA.

The fact that one has a collumn on the largest sports conglomerate in the world, and the other is a parody log-in name on a hip hop website, should tip you off to which type of thinking is more accepted, and prevalent, in modern society.

Simmons' viewpoints are more indicative of the consensus, and INFLUENCE the consensus, far more than Basaglia's viewpoints.

I feel embarassed even having to shoot down that comparison.

But I did it anyway.

Comparing Bill Simmons to Basaglia, from this point on, will result in an automatic L for you.

You keep walking into minefields.

Kevin Mchale comitted illegal acts that completely ruined the T-Wolves for many years. The only reason Mchale's error didn't make them as bad as the Knicks is because the T-Wolves already had a mega star who is used to carrying the load and making a poor team over achieve year after year. Zeke didn't walk into the Knicks with Garnett. Mchale did walk into the T-Wolves with Garnett. Mchale is the criminal and crook, however he gets none of Zeke's hate.

> they are moves that everyone and
>their mother knew were panicked at the time, they made no
>sense at the time, and what the knicks are today was
>completely predictable and are a direct result of his moves.

Problem is, most of Zeke's bad moves were desperate BECAUSE A WORSE GM preceded him, which COMPLETELY handcuffed his freedom.

I say that and I don't feel two ways about Zeke as a GM.

I do know that Bin Layden should be thrown into the Pit of Tarmac. That being the case, any GM following Bin Layden was doomed for failure, because Bin Layden's fuckups were not only temporary, they fucked up the FUTURE.

Zeke's strategy was to try and mix it up. Hasn't worked. I can't say I hate the strategy. Following Bin Layden is lose-lose.

>when you're mentionned in the same breath as bob whittsit, you
>know you fucked up. add that to his failure with the cba and
>the pacers, and you have a guy who shouldn't have a position
>of authority with any real responsibility in the NBA.

Just like Kevin Mchale, who cheats, lies, and breaks rules, right?

It's a relevant comparison because I'm talking about the reaction on this board. In case you hadn't noticed, we care a wee bit more about zeke related topics than the rest of the world does. the rest of the world generally acknowledges that which is indisputable, which is that zeke is a wretched, wretched general manager.

See, you're setting up straw men again. Just this week I cosigned a post saying McHale is an awful GM. He's bad. He's also nowhere close to as bad as Zeke. We could go move by move for a comparison, but I have class in two minutes. Suffice to say Zeke GM'd teams have never made the conference finals. McHale was at least able to surround Garnett with passable talent once. Does that make him a good GM? No, he's awful. But he's not as bad as Zeke.

Before you say it, yes, Danny Ainge is making a run at Zeke status. But you need a consistent, years long record before you can attain that. Ainge has the raw potential, however.

"Layden is worse than Zeke" is not a slam dunk. In fact, from the prespective of someone who pays passing attention to the knicks, it's emminently debatably. But I'm not qualified to have that debate. Neither are you, because you don't watch sports. Let the real Knicks fans sort that out.

he been at it a decade and has wasted the career a great great great player...a player who's greatness we have never truly seen because he's too busy carrying scrubs.

all mchale had to do was DRAFT...and he fucked that up.

i don't care what isiah has done. he didn't cost his team 5 1st rounders by tryna sign a scrub.

The white Zeke haters are confused.

They feel like they have to make Mchale's problems look smaller in order to hate Isiah Thomas. This is why I know these exchanges are racially motivated.

Because objective people like me can say that Isiah's strategy has completely exploded in his face, while also understanding the fact that Mchale has been far, far, far, worse, given the unethical nature to his fuckups and the great player whose career he wasted.

>he been at it a decade and has wasted the career a great

Oh yes, all the Zeke hate in the world can't plea-cop for Mchale. He's much, much, worse.

Garnett's prime will come and go without a team around him that could have truly challenged anyone.

Yep.

Yep.

everybody did what mchale did for joe smith. mchale just got caught. does that make him dumb, both because he was the one who got caught and because he risked all this for joe frickin smith? absolutely. but don't act like negotiating out of season doesn't happen with everybody.
