and that's because everyone hated the Bad Boys: Chicago, Boston, NY, LA. Jordan, Bird, Magic have their hometown guys backing them up. Most writers supported their team and hated Isiah. The love isn't going to come because it's retired. People are always looking to shit on Rodman, Mahorn, Laimbeer, etc. (The exception to this rule is Jon Salley who was always the clown prince of the squad) Hell, people seem like they need to be prodded to even give Joe Dumars some credit.
Same reason Ainge gets no love. People always thought he was a cocky little brat (even in Boston) so now they are all waiting for him to fail. LB, Magic, and Jordan were golden. Their own writers revered them and others gave them respect. The Lakers, Bulls, and Celtics all battled, but it was a war whenever Detroit was in town. Isiah's not on their level and Detroit doesn't offer up the journalistic guns to get his back.
There's that and the fact that he's a terrible GM and ran the CBA into the ground, but that's a whole other issue.
