Tankas

A tanka is a classic form of Japanese poetry. A tanka has five lines with a traditional pattern of 5, 7, 5, 7, 7 syllables. In addition to being a popular form of love poem for centuries, the tanka form has also been the vehicle for expressing interconnectedness with nature. Here is a personal tanka that tries to combine the traditional tanka love and nature themes:

sequoias in bloom
yellow flowers high above
walking hand in hand
one branch fallen on our path
together now, we look up

Try using the tanka form to express your love of nature or your experience of love for someone in nature.

My lady pointed out to me that the word "our" is 2 syllables ok maybe but my ebonic tongue speaks differently and is enunciated as awr which brings me to question writing in other forms. Is phonetics considered?

instead of "open our mind" try "opens the mind" should fix the syllabic ordeal. beautiful piece though
