Though this is a re-post, we had technical difficulties with the first one. Eveyone let's gather around and wish KnowOne a hearty congrats. Especailly since he's the one who put this all together in the first place. It's character like that which makes this board great.
Congratulations my friend, and let's get ready to rock and read great work!

dirge

patient monoliths mourn quietly
casting concrete shadows on a vile
parade marching on to distorted rhythms
vulgar melodic
perverse cacophony
echoing pulsating within the rank and file
enveloping enslaving structured dreams
concrete bases
cracked decaying
foundations lay ruined
ruins buried beneath crumbling headstones

burdens of knowledge forming
scars on calloused hands
suffered under weight of stones
carried down obligatory
weathered
persevered
spark the weak a match
between finger and thumb
expelling darkness
transiently exposing tragedy
carving your own graven image
aside the patient monoliths
mourning quietly
casting concrete shadows over an
atrocious parade of humanity
unrelentingly
marching on
dead and unaware

This pCe calls to mind: "STONEHENGE" -- (With the mathematical accuracy of stone positioning suggesting it was possibly used as an observatory, a religious center, a calendar of the seasons, and to predict eclipses)

A most unique & unusual read, indeed!

This actually *felt* cold, y'know?
It wrapped me in an icyness and your choice of words was effective.
The last lines really stuck with me, "marching on, dead and unaware"- that hit me.

Ink Takes To Skin

soft metal flake
split sensuous to
receive the rush
of ink capillary

-takes-

and I lean / kneel
where once you
asked my climb-roughened
hands to work the handholds
of love in your back that
needed no chalk to catch / bind
bring body

-close-

remember
me softly tracing
this metal flake over skin:
calligraphic haphazard tattoo
of imagery / places we had been

ink takes to skin

but
cotton does not
hold this well and I find myself
instinctively reaching behind for
chalk not there for I have lost my holds
and my heart pumps air as gravity

-grips-

me terrified
as feet give / hands slip

and my words
sink blurred into the
bedsheets beyond my hand.

this is what i would like to call a "haiku poem". Trying something new. What do ya think?

Of Souls And Soul Mates

of souls and soul mates
neither one nor both can be
proven easily

one a lie given
to the faithful in their church
to reinforce god

try believing in
the sun rising tomorrow
but night never ends

the other a myth
that i used to believe in
until you left me

i will wait alone
for you to come save me from
a dream i cant break

of souls or soul mates
if one should come to be fact
the other shall too

another day lost
to the pursuit of the truth
finding no answers

I do believe in souls & soulmates -- (as well as GOD) -- Just so ya know! --smiles--

But I enjoyed reading your "Haiku Poem".

Trying something new is always a good thing.

I like the conclusion U came to at the end:

>of souls or soul mates
>if one should come to be fact
>the other shall too

But I got a lil' depressed with the hopeless closure

>another day lost
>to the pursuit of the truth
>finding no answers

*Sigh*

LandStalker pt.1 (terra firma)

Here I am, there I lay…..
Laid down in the earth
Becoming one with the substance from which I was taken
In touch with my land, my earth, my home
Casting my gaze upward I praise the sky
So that my earthly bond my be broken
I contemplate the Human Nature, and I don’t seem to find
Any traces of my own
Instead I am disgusted
By it’s ignorance & fragility, emptiness & futility
Laid down in the earth
I observe the Cosmos
And wonder if it’s eternal and infinite blackness
Contains the key to my inner void…..
And as I’m enveloped by this abyss
I see the answers are drawn before me
But chaotically
I….do not hold the key……the one which allows me
To decipher such a puzzle
Laid down in the earth
I close my eyes, open my mind
And try to perceive the unpercievable,
Grasp the infinite, the wisdom,
The nothingness which fills me
How I wish to enter my mind
Temporarily abandon this forsaken routine, leave behind life…
And enter neither immortality, nor death
Not light nor darkness
Just a simple state of being
Maybe then I could be the true master of my thoughts
But do I really want to be my own master?
No…..for I seek answers, not power
Yet this raises another question
Even if my unconsciousness and dark side of mind
Could be reached and tampered with….
Would I remain the same person….who knows…
Never the less, the shackles of reality restrain me
And I am still here…simply laying in the dirt…
How many horizons must I gaze into….
How many earth’s must I lie above to find the answers?
Maybe…this earth…is where I will find the key
This thought comforts me and so I rise
Unfulfilled, but more complete, and wise
I am already a part of the theater of life…
But which role do I take in this lonely play?

In response to Reply # 0

Landstalker pt.2 (terra incognita)

I roam the earth & walk the land
And as I look around me I see a beauty that once was
Cities of despair, & despondent landscapes
Devoid of any people besides myself
Yet overflowing with feeling…..
Where could everyone have gone…
& why does the weight of their sadness remain?
The calm and solitude is unsettling
The silence is deafening & the serenity drives me mad
So my heart searches for chaos
And my body eagerly fulfills its request
So with a wave of the hand I bend the trees with ease & silence the breeze
And a tap of my foot causes shivers to quake across the land
Methodically I obliterate all that I see before me
But as I destroyed the world around me little by little…
I felt a part of me slowly fading
This world seems so fake; yet the pain is real
And suddenly I realize much too late that I had not been roaming landscapes
No I was roaming my own mind
And as I glance at the rubble that was once
The frigid sow capped mountains of my psyche
And walk among the ruins of ancient memories
I begin to understand
I inhale smoke from the ashes of unfulfilled dreams & aspirations
Lifeless passion burning in the flames of life
I whisper….”Who can understand me but myself……”
And as my tired eyes watch the black sky once more
My hands grasp the earth & a smile of pure ignorance curls across my lips
I understand how it is I can exist in two worlds
Both opposite from one another, but existing in the same place
And once again I awaken to the real world
One of physical & mental creation & desolation
And here I am left to slowly die, a changed man…innocence lost
Much like the earth I return to…….

A-bomb

and she falls from the
sky; granter of rigor mortis
shutting seeing eyes

flesh being unborn
void like a new un-mother
inexistence is

uninhabited
soil littered with stubbed toes and
torsos fall as tears

bone sails like snowflakes
incinerated Sheep now
unmoved to wage war

massacre complete;
fright and surrender with the

a victor only views
the soiled cloud in all it’s post

Self Portrait

so quiet I sit there
and silent you wonder
what I am thinking
or hoping to gain

I’ve painted this picture
while you sit and ponder
why I am painting
an image of distress

you wonder what’s my motive
what could inspire such pain & anguish
while never truly viewing the art
wherein lie all the answers

hand’s used for artistic expression
sitting idle and waiting
to be commanded
to set feelings free for all to see

so quiet, charming I wait,
anticipating a reaction, or sign of recognition
hoping you will finally understand
misguided comfort momentarily overcomes me

while you just stand there
more confused than ever….debating
and hoping that someday, maybe some day
I’ll let you see…….what you refuse to….

A true lyricist
writing from expierence
Seen so much through these young eyes
Seen so many women feed into men's lies

The wrinkles I see in the mirror come from a
reflection of reality.
Each ring under neath my eyes begins to recieve
it's own personality.

My bones are aching in result of the prejudice,
brutality
My mind can't even induldge in individuality
Made to be like someone else
can't release the real side of me

Lost in a world of monopoly.....
And no one can find me..........

I am. . . . . .
Black-Ivy
Hot coal underneath the earth's surface awaiting the day when she can break through the earth's core.

Poetic Imbalance

these words that i write,
misunderstood, cast aside.
a broken heart bleeding on a page,
a fallen mind's infatuations.
levels of emotion,
fields of metaphors,
all in one useless attempt
to describe the unnamed.

i open my eyes and am blinded by light.
pauses between the stanzas
of a disenchanted dream.
words,
moments,
feelings,
rushes of euphoria.
the things i hold dearest inside
are meaningless
to everyone and everything.

just stop for a minute,
forget about the past.
contemplate and assume
that you understand the truth.
reality is hidden
behind a mask of confused thoughts.
read the spaces between the lines
of my wasted and inane eternity.

valuing the shallow
and losing all my hope.
everything's lost inside the dark.
searching,
hoping,
wishing,
praying to my idols.
beauty is thrown away
and life is that much more convenient.
destitute and alone.

emotional dilemmas.
i rush to comprehend it
and i feed off my illusions.
etch my name on the side
of your broken existence.
forever emblazoned on my face
are these wicked, painful smiles,
like empty pages in an unfinished book.

ancient relics,
scriptures of my divine decay.
nonchalance is the obvious answer.
emotionless,
apathetic,
leaving hope,
drifting into the unknown.
the spaces between reality
hold all the purest answers.
i know this yet
i do not listen.

read all the words,
inspiration inside of nothings.
expressing a lie,
concocting a grand scheme,
and one day you'll understand
all of my
poetic imbalances.

I'm quite familiar with IMBALANCES -- (Being a Libra always tippin' the scales) -- But this particular flow totally knocked me off balance with a melancholy punch!

And these words hit below da belt:

>just stop for a minute,
>forget about the past.
>contemplate and assume
>that you understand the truth.
>reality is hidden
>behind a mask of confused thoughts.
>read the spaces between the lines
>of my wasted and inane eternity.

>valuing the shallow
>and losing all my hope.
>everything's lost inside the dark.
>searching,
>hoping,
>wishing,
>praying to my idols.
>beauty is thrown away
>and life is that much more convenient.
>destitute and alone.

I'm sighing -- But smiling!

Poetic Balance

everything isn't as romantic as it seems,
in gesture,
thought,
desire,
or spoken word.
complications and illusions,
these are the fallacies
that control deep inside.
eraser shavings and useless words,
lines that go on forever,
and emotions that just fade away.

and nobody's here,
no,
nobody sees,
erase my fear,
please,
help me run away.

beauty is what is seen inside of a tear,
inside of a creation,
a thought,
a whisper,
a soft spoken breeze.
imaginations and personalities,
the things we hold dearest
mean nothing in the end.
the persistence of our denial,
the fragile little pieces,
and the loss of all our hope
is lost inside my mind.

and i am here,
but
you can't see,
the birth is near,
of my
perfect little dream.

nothing makes sense,
muddled on the floor,
bleeding on the walls,
displaying,
decaying,
repaying,
delaying.
end is near and you can't see,
all the pain inside of me.
fall apart to my dismay,
breathe the thoughts that you portray.

Do you like me? __Yes or __No

what happens when she says no?
After everything you are is there for her to see
and she slowly pushes it back across the table to you
in a neat little package wrapped in "I'm sorry"
with a sad half-smile
and an almost casual brush of your hand

in that moment you are truly vulnerable,
laid open like a fish on a filet board
guts and all open for all to see

you're suddenly scrambling
to pull some dignity from the tatters
of whatever you offered her
cloak yourself in stuttering assurances
directed more to yourself than to her
wanting to be anywhere but there
stifling the need to explain,
to prove to her that this could be good
and right
and true.

All she has to do is believe...
but she doesn't.

What happens when she says no?
when you have lost a little something of yourself
that can never be recovered,
not really
when the tiny hole is made in your heart
and slowly fills with the cold metal left by rejection
hardening under the truth of reality's sun

what happens when she says no?
I can’t know for sure.
Cause tonight she said yes.

*feeling nostalgic* I remember being passed those notes in class and being too afraid to send them myself!
As I read this I realised how deeply I felt about people at such a young age, and now in hindsight it seems oh so corny! Anyway, enough about me...
I loved the twist at the end, I didn't see that coming.

The Life……

High atop a project roof
A young woman casts her view
Out across the city below
Clouds to drift her sight askew
Tight she grips the cold railing
Cool breeze brushes her face
Her lover lies out in the night
She strains to see that place

Down below, in a drab brick tenement
The radio plays its same old drill
Up he stares, toward the clouds
Perched in the window sill
His girlfriend’s up there, this he knows
But is she not alone
Thoughts of rain, severed veins
He sighs a painful moan
His fingers pressed on the pane
He whispers a final line,
“I’ve live my dreams these past twelve years,,
But all things crumble with time.”
With that, his hand is raised
Beside his head the trigger,
“To life,” he laughs, cracking a smile
“To life,” he laughs, “Go figure….”

With the shot, heard from 2 floors up
The lone boy nearly falls
Clutching tight, he leans forward
“This will show these hallowed halls.”
The rooftop’s pale, this stale night
He sees the ground below
A new formed tear brings him joy
A sense he does not know
No one cares, not even he
If he should live or die
“To life,” he laughed, and smiled
Then spread his wings to fly

High atop a project roof
A young woman casts her view
To watch the flightless youth’s last stand
Funny, the things that people do
Moonlight fades overhead
The night seems without a care
“To life,” she thinks, as she stands
Then heads back toward the stairs
Dragging her feet, her head aimed down
She sighs to look once more
She peers out, just past the falling boy
And sees her lovers encore
Behind the bloody pane, he stands, still alive
As his moonlit silhouette grows bigger
And as she sees his smiling face
“To life,” she laughs, “Go figure……”

I’m not crazy,
Even though I scream at empty chasms
And my mind drifts with ease
Yet I have total control over my attention span
I’m not crazy
Even though I embrace my sadness with joy
And I wonder who I am or why I’m here
And when there’s too much pain in my heart, the cutting starts
And I’m not crazy for catching my 2nd wind @ 3am
Just as you’re not normal for giving up on the moon
I’m not crazy
Because I have been know to talk to myself
I only speak when my self talks back
Nor because I seek solace in a dot com fantasy
Virtual-Reality is the oxymoron that is my life
Human Veins in digital chains
As I wander lost on these cruel internet plains
Accompanied only by my LAN connected soul mate
Ain’t seen the sun in dayz cause I’m caught in this World Wide Web
But I’m not weird, just wired, determined, focused & resilient
My words may not be bright, but peep my inspiratory intentions
My poems are like literary jellyfish
Translucent, yet barbed on all sides, the danger hidden
So that when you pick one up you bleed onto verse….
Fingers’ numbing as desperate wit penetrates your nerves
The venom leaving you incapacitated
Left only to beg for your lyrical life through rhyme
See how the brightest light casts the darkest shadow….
So keep all snide comments to your self….

Reflections {Echoes in a Mirror}

She walks up to the mirror
its fading gilt-edges dulled under the layers of dust.
The girl looks down at herself
in the shadow-filled room her form is blurred
the edges hazed in mist.
The reflection in the mirror is clear-cut and cold
emotionless, yet more real than the girl herself.
The eyes of the reflection are pools of emptiness
staring into them, the girl falls deeper and deeper
into a sea of nothing, drowning.

A girl looks up at herself
gazing out at the world from a prison
with gilt-edges and glass walls.
She stares at the familiar image
watching as a ruby droplet of moisture falls
on the surface.
Red teardrops on glass.
Seeing the pain of the image
Yet feeling it 10 fold herself
Still she cannot respond
Nor can she cry
A bleeding tear (isn’t as red as it seems)
A dry tear (is the one that bleeds the most)

Carpe Noctum : seize the night

Once upon a dismal evening
I spent a night without dreaming
Restless under an ebony cloud, I cry out to the night
Oh night, let me find in you the real me
Let me embrace my heart by embracing yours
Slowly I awake from my daylight slumber
And then I see you, the one I have search for
And the rivers of my eyes slowly recede
Our tears merge into one, and so does our newfound
Yet ironically long lost love
Alas, reality tears at the bond we share, yet we continue to gaze at each other
Swallowed by feelings that could turn day to night
Light into darkness, melancholy into passion….
The voices of the night sing praises to our union
But to everyone else there is only unconscious silence
We embrace each other, completely oblivious to all else
We are the beginning and the end
For we have found ourselves in each other
Thus forming one soul of perfect love
But suddenly we are separated by beams of light
And you disappear right before my eyes
Now feeling more alone than ever, I cry out
And suddenly it becomes clear…. You never were there
Yet I feel the loss of something I never had
Why am I still burned by love’s flame?
So I curse the sky in frustration, spurning the sun
And continue searching for you, so that the night will come
The place where we can escape this miserable world
And be together forever more…….

The Female Of The Species

I've got a secret
I know who you are
Woman
S t r o n g
A dusky jewel in a starry night sky
Radiating a prism of life-giving light
Rainbow of colors that illuminates
That shadowy curse of our mundane life

Yeah...you’ve heard the words before
But let me tell you again
You see, I've got another secret
Your weak as a lamb
Vulnerable
Raw
I know who you are
Woman

See, the world wears you down
And inside you wanna cry
But you Stay strong for your loved ones
While silently thinking “MY chances for Love is.....gone”

But I've got a secret, baby
I’m aware that you know full well what you do…..
Got a smile that reaches way deep in my heart
Got a voice that's a whisper I heard in your sigh
Your eyes, are windows into your vibrant soul
I struggle not to weep at the beauty of who you truly are

My love is the intensity of ten thousand suns
A purity rivaled by its blazing tour-de-force
It glimmers and dances
Entices and entrances
Love me
Leave me
It won’t change who you are
Woman

Yeah, you’ve heard these words
but I’ll say it again
See, I've got another secret
I think your slipping away

The chill of distance
The unanswered caress
The world is a python
And Love is its prey
So please take this trinket
This piece of my soul
See, you have to be strong for me
Be patient and await your real destiny

I have a secret
I know who you are
Woman
S t r o n g
A dusky jewel in a starry night sky
The light of my love beams across the universe
Lightyears after the lonely supernova strikes
These gifts will still light a mundane life

for your just a woman.…..that’s all…..
But that’s more than enough……..

17. "Fear of Flying"
In response to Reply # 0

Saw her true colors tonight……..

Fear of Flying

gray and meaningless
commonplace as wet cement in the rain
and i slipped on you
between contacting the ground
(finding you again)
and soaring, midair
i tasted flying
or what i thought was flying
momentarily i inhaled the sweetest thing
and a scream became laughter
then a strangled cry
as i smacked the pavement
tasted your true poison
bitter as blood and cold as ice
kissed you for the last time
and stood up bruised
walking away tearstained and angry
but wounds heal
and it cant rain all the time

Follow The Leader

hand me a rhetorical question
and ill give you an answer
filled with thoughts
and wisdom beyond my years
that will make you dry your eyes...
before the tears can start.

ill let the mind dry out,
with a single shout there’s always an echo
that explodes before
it will become a shadow
of what it used to want to be,
as most things usually do.

---nobody would remember---

a dirty faucet leaks diamond droplets
that lead into a truth no one can deny.
find yourself a fallen angel
and never let go.
youll never let go.

it was a death grip

while with dirty fingernails you
scratch the disease of destiny,
that spreads faster across the world
than the corner whore at
sixty ninth and market.

she knows
the ground is colder when its your bed.
and the sky is darker when its your light.

---she cries herself to sleep---

so

follow my lead
while gasping for another taste
of the powdered sugar that falls from
decaying words that can only reach so far
and will only go so far.

ill only go so far………

19. "Domestic Silence"
In response to Reply # 0

Domestic Silence

She has died this night……..the date is not important
Just know they’ve been together for about a year
She was not the first one killed
By this murderer holding no guilt
But tonight his burning anger shall extinguish her flame
And in his possession, her soul shall wilt
Voiceless words of rage spoken by his cold eyes
Re-tearing a lifetime of healed lacerations in her self-esteem
Still this mockery never felt so welcome
Sarcastic love is better than none at all
Take it as you will, but it’s the only love she’s ever known
And so instead of taking a stand, she allows it to progress
She’s sure he’s a good man that loves her, he’s just under too much stress
Others will try to convince her to run away & just leave him be
But they don’t truly understand, they can’t see all his good qualities
Their not in her tunnel of vision, & thus can’t see the light
Just because his actions make him wrong, doesn’t make me right
If you were as close as I am, you’d see past his temper to the real man
The one that’s loving, caring, & has a gentle hand
(But she has yet to notice that the hand is now a fist……)
She thinks, “I don’t mind that he doesn’t give me flowers” with a silent sigh
But this changes suddenly as his first blow causes a black rose to bloom around her eye
Gritting her teeth she bears it, cause this is her best friend
And this pain over time she’ll actually learn to take pleasure in
So after this fateful night she will never be the same
This one accepted act of violence would leave her forever changed
And though he won’t kill till many years later
With one too many blows to the head
tonight both he & she will fail to recognize the fact
That actually, she’s already dead……….

In response to Reply # 19

He can kill you with one touch
His words is more than enough, and his perception
of life is so tough

Lyrically blessed "called the kid". Turned to
expressions of the mind through it is how he hid.

Knowing daddy beat on mom, made him mad to never
really see her smile.
After while, his happiness disappeard
placed himself in solitary it was death that he feared.

In his room listening to the pysical and verbal abuse.
He decided to drop the pen and paper for he had nothing
to lose.
His mom in the corner bleeding to death,
he felt his heart beating right through his chest.
He had nothing left.

He lunged at his dad, with the knife in his hand
he had watched for too long
time to step up and be a man.(Just didn't give a d*^n)

He protected his mom and the beatings
went astray and one day
he will be able to wash his fathers blood
away.

But he did what he did, picked back up the pen and
paper and
evolved into
"THE KID"

H.E.R.

who is she
she with the charcoal colored
wet lips
mascara smeared
round hips

she with the torn stockings
her bra strap faltering
just over her shoulder
smile that could be a frown
scornful lips mocking

she can't see her beauty
the pain leaves her alone
she finds friends in screwing
gives herself to anyone
who'll take her home

she with the bruises
deeper than skin
deeper than any eyes would
care to begin
to see

she is someone’s daughter
someone’s sister
someone’s mother
someone’s friend
everyone’s lover

she smites the pain
with rough lips and kisses
in dark alleyways
day old stubble
in strange rooms
brutal unforgiving thrusts
she stabs at her heart, everyday
everyday

she who doesn’t cry
but inside
she dies

she slaughters her existence
with latex
cigarette smoke
faces with no names
friendly smiles with much to gain

she
who I want
so badly
to heal

but she is nothing
without the pain
it makes her real
it fills her cup
gives her purpose
the only thing she
truly feels

and life for her would not be the same
with out mutilating her soul
to realize her purpose

she kills her self to live
everyday, every way

I watch her
I hate her
I love her

I'll break her.

43. "ONE WINGED ANGEL"
In response to Reply # 0

ONE WINGED ANGEL

i strapped the wing
of the flea-bitten angel

across my back
and wandered down the street

to my dismay
there lay the other half...dissected

in the middle of the road-
only recognizable by the pile of feathers

strewn across the pavement
like barbie plastic melted in ice

frozen in betrayal,
were my own perceptions of righteousness

tattered
by the sight
of my flight
now fallen.....

i knelt down and began to gather
the pieces in a last attempt to redeem

my SELF.

perhaps all sins committed could be reconstructed
and justified into good deeds.....

and this wing
-disassembled-

could become something greater
than it ever was.

but as i sat and gathered
its remains- i realized that

there was no picture of perfection
to rebuild the wing--

and so-

i found a nearby light pole...
-erect and judicious in its metallic manner-

and carried the carcass to its grave

and flapping sideways, with one wing in motion
tilted by my own beliefs that i could fly...

i made my way beneath the light
and
waited......
for a
miracle.....
under a blanket of stars
that had
somehow....
conjured up a miracle of their own.

In response to Reply # 0

was it the sins of the fater....or the boyfriend......

Adam

You tripped over barbed wire and fell
into my arms, unaware
of how I would make me bleed--

There were eighteen years of lies in my embrace.

I watched smoke from your cigarette cling and swirl
on the bloody skin of my merlot, heavy and thick,
served in beveled glass. Sweet. Like the my smile that made you squirm,
the smoke that made me cough, but I held it in. Held in the poison. And
smiled.

Anything you can do I can do better--

the nausea of indecision. Or of decision. An all-you-can-eat buffet:
I choose her and her and her. And sometimes you, when I feel like hurting
something or someone who isn't innocent, who is in descent.
I'll go down like you want me to,
and meet you at the bottom. Expose an ounce of my flesh
and you’ll take a pound. Your baby teeth have been replaced;
Now you bite back.

I was Adam, and every man paid for my sins.

In response to Reply # 0

this was written a few years ago when someone on here (I forget who) wrote a piece called "The Baby Killer". It was a shockingly graphic depiction of a man in jail reflecting on how he killed all his kids. And how he felt it was for their own good. The author came under fire for his words, until he explained what all the metaphors meant. Then it all made sense & peeps were suddenly praising it & him for his ingenious vision. So it kinda moved me to write this. Just my little attempt to defend all forms of this art.

Page from an unread book

Deviance
Non-compliance
Rebellious Defiance
of your norm
refusal to conform
true to my own form
I have my reason
Even if it's a contradiction
I feel no need for treason
Against my own mind
Perhaps if you looked, you'd find
Words that were more kind
words that didn't build a wall
to separate us all
and teach others to call,
to say, to preach
One way as right
And all others......wrong

Just a lil' free write.....

I've got
a million questions to ask
all of them rhetorical
why ask the answer,
when you're the query?

so what did you abduct now?
probably my mind
forgetting the ransom note

and a thousand scenarios
with the answer 'no'
running through my brain
with steel toed heels

mascara scars your cheeks
every night
eroding channels to seas
that aren't in sight
and I'm drowning,

drowning in your crimes
serving time
for breaking unwritten rules
for your transgressions
drawing deeper depressions
drawing inspiration
with blunt pencils

the lines are the road, but
where are all the stop signs?
speeding through normal
resting in reserved back seats
in soot Cadillac’s with wheels of fortune
our morals are bankrupt
flickering black with each spin

but it's all the same
we're all the same
social diseased and mentally lost
but it's all the same
we're all the same
and the mirror's to blame

and the same record skips
and the same people trip
and the same hearts rip

but you think you're unique

Congratulation to you, a well deserved achievement, enjoy it while it lasts, or you can just win next months again if ya want.

Your work is extraordinary! You have an amazing grasp of language sewn together with unique thought atop a bed of depth. Outstanding vocabulary. You definitely deserved poet of the month, definitely. Your work has a very real rough edged feeling, not that light fluffy texture that some poems have. I truly respect you in your art and look forward to reading more of you.

"I am ashamed
to call this love human
and afraid of God
to call it divine"--Rumi (real name Jalal ad-Din Mohammed Balkhi)

"May I be, forward? Before word, is, intent"--Saul Williams
