A penny for my thoughts
garners a farthing of truth-
Revelations hold little value
but for the delight of the uncouth

Whose wheels I turn one way
or another, locked behind handlebars;
No escape from the cycle...

of spinning stagnantly in one direction-
Towards the night
until the sun suffers an uprising of the stars,

No escape from the cycle
of rushing at 8:32,
Heedlessly tempting pavement cracks
to prove childhood rumours true,

Usual bike chained to usual tree
And usual bungalow window;
Showcase for pyjama-clad exhibit,
Time his last surviving foe,

One eye on the world,
the other on breakfast television,
He takes position on the sofa
Awaiting divine deportation

Like his neighbour's feline kindred spirit,
Waiting patiently to be liberated
from the harsh frost of reality;
Their lives indelibly fated,

Nora suggested thinking of bicycles,
She said it would be mind numbing,
I bless her still-
An insomniac's revolution was not forthcoming.

i like how your words folow the cycle of the bicycle wheel... seemingily infinite spinning forward... which reminds me of this scene in Arcadia where the girl (i forget her name now) points out that you can blend the jam into the pudding by stirring it, but if you stir in the opposite direction the jam and pudding doen't separate it just becomes blended together deeper.
but i digress... i liked this piece, had to read it a few times but it was a niiiiiccccceeee drop.

The bicycle thing can work, if it's employed alongside lavender oil and various other herbal remedies and whatnot!
