We come here for refuge. for shelter. some surgically split ribcages with lyrics of fury, Others... Let their emotions erupt outta chest cavities and onto keyboards, onto papers, onto other peoples lives.
We come here for rescue. Some of us need rescue from our own writing and some of us come here to extend a poetical ladder trying to save our brethren in need. In need of a "nice drop, keep that shit up!" in need of a release to Focus, our Inkwell, InGeniously, so that possibly someone else has an Epiphany.
We do this for respect among the other buffalo that roam around here. We do this to seperate, and then adhere to our peers.

i write tears that strong men are expected to hold back the rage felt as a woman hits you and self respect forbids you to hit back the change in attitudes for the positive because you want your world back then you reflect on who you were when you lost it and see that she won't come back

and i don't "feel" poetic today my stories won't translate into rhyming couplets for you to dissect my breaths aren't puns for you to laugh at i can only be myself poetic every day converting O 2 into bic's blue ink spilling my life on pages thirsting to tell its story
and i don't feel poetic today when missing cheerleaders on vacay can have media coverage 24 hours a day but the media can't figure out why news in se dc is always bad see they don't understand poverty is what makes a bad story good and doing something about it will make it even better
but i don't feel poetic today when my ancestors are on street corners peddling their poetry for loose change trying to kick drug habits hiding their illiteracy behind break beats, and beat poetry into the veins of a dying city hoping that they'll catch the rhythm of the cities heartbeat in the palm of their hand massaging it to life again and again
and i don't "feel" poetic today when all i do is breath life poetry and sketch it onto notepads for someone to see where they came from
i just call myself a writer because poetry isn't a feeling it's a state of being and all i can do is be . . . myself
