"Add on ~For Battle Emcee's and Poets ~From a Poet~"

I was reading a battle one wretched day at my horrendous excuse for an income generator. I was going to feast myself to the punchlines of emcees
and in between calls, i planned on kickin a bit o' honest opinions to people about their writings,
Because frankly I've been a member for a ~Minute~ but hardly ever have the time to
absorb,
infuse,
and frankly let folks know I love this place.

But there inlies my problem.

A minus B times C equals D but I have no clue how math can have letters in it but I have every clue on why
the battle I was reading wasnt feeding me anything
except negative energy.

I could name names but that would expose my non partisanship and the last thing I want to do,
in between calls,
Is have another person mis-understand me.

So here it goes.

many flows here are beautiful in their grittyness. many are simple. many dont get the respect they deserve. But I do notice that many people post several writings
or flows
And form cliques.
and claim Hateration.

I could do that too. You could do that too. We all could. couldnt we? we gotta go thru training when we first get on,
then we get the shitty shifts,
then we dont get the respect our peers do

But we move on. Grow. Learn. Become power players.

Trains movin' and Boxcarboys travel on trains of thought
What you think?
Think you can write something funny for us today?
think you can write a verse that has pneumonia?
think you can write an image into words?
think you can write how someone in the doldrums feels? for real?
think you can write about joy?
think you can write about hair grease and scrambled eggs?

Boxcarboys and Girls ride trains of thought on imaginations railways.
This is your chance Emcee's and Poets and Writers.

Right Now. Add on here.

Get on the Train

In response to Reply # 1

I'm NOT a storyteller -- (At least not like some on this board) -- But here it go:

Moma gripped me with her knees at first -- My shoulders stabilized by her firmness -- As she raked thru my scalp -- From forehead to base of neck -- My redemption was felt only when tiny glops of coconut oil hair grease hit my scalp -- Sliding from one end of my head to the other -- -- (((SOOTHING))) -- -- But then she'd jerk my head again -- Pulling me further back -- As her thighs held me in a vise~grip so I couldn't move or pull away.

I wasn't really THAT tender~headed, but the way she attacked my head felt more like punishment than a rewarding weekly ritual -- (Make that a bi~monthly ritual -- And if I was lucky, maybe just a monthly ritual) -- -- Hell, at 10 yrs. old, I could grease my own damn scalp -- (or so I thought) -- But moma said I put too much grease on my hair & scalp and left greasy stains on the pillowcases, couch & chairs, and sometimes even my clothes --

Moma said shoulder length hair required more maintenance than what I was giving it -- (Even if my hair was of a fairly nice texture & grade -- Wit my ponytail & bangs wearin' self -- ) -- And I wasn't really combing it thoroughly from root to ends -- So by the time she got to it -- It was kinked and knotted in the center -- *Ouchie*

I didn't start gettin' "relaxers/perms" in my head til' I was 14 -- So I endured the torture of mom's scalp greasin' ritual for a few more years -- (And truthfully, IT WASN'T "THAT" BAD) -- But the memory of mom's thigh grippin' strength makes me realize why Dad loves her so much! -- *LoL* --

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

In the meantime --

Most mornings we didn't have time for a decent sit~down breakfast -- Toast & jelly -- Fruit -- A piece of cheese or yogurt -- Cereal -- Anything quick to grab and eat "ON THE GO" was acceptable -- So we had "Breakfast Dinners" quite often.

Mom was usually tired after work, and didn't feel like hangin' over the stove cookin', bakin', peelin', scrapin' etc., etc. -- Plus, breakfast dinners were quick & easy, nahmean?

I always volunteered to make the scrambled eggs -- Cuz I wasn't into gettin' popped with bacon grease -- -- Plus, aaiiiirrrybody LOVED my eggs -- (With grated cheddar cheese and half & half cream in da mixxx) -- A dash of onion powder and a sprinkle of dried parsley made for a pretty presentation and aromatic serving.

The thick pepper laced bacon was crispy like I liked it -- (Mom could fry ^UP^ some bacon like nobody's business -- ) -- But we cheated on the hash browns -- Using the frozen kind, doctored up with more onion powder, garlic powder, coarse ground pepper, paprika & dried parsley. French Toast was also frozen -- (Hey! -- We tryna hurry Up and eat here!!!) -- -- But after the REAL butter was melted on the toast -- And that delicious maple syrup was slathered on it -- We was ready to "chow down" like there was no tomorrow!!! -- *chuckles* -- Orange juice topped it off nicely -- And in my case, it always made me forget about my tender headed torture -- (See ^UP^ Above) -- From the scalping ritual! --

rarely does the Poet get upset like stomachs,
but I'm bitter like Hummus and ready for sale like rummage,
WTF was ya'll thinking? 27 people peeped game but nobody speaking
ya'll waiting for the weekend?
Need to gather ya thoughts before you post lost treasure?
I have no need to measure the wieght of your rhymes or off beat hymns
or if you have size 11's toes stickin outta Timbs
But I do have a problem with cowards wilting like flowers to new found challenges
So i decided to have ya'll grilled the way salmon is.

So you b*tches disguised as Emcees and you slithering cowards touchin up your poetry,
ya'll got 2 days to up ya pedigree.
This aint my thang, and I want an Emcee to explain how he can get shown up by a player that aint even in this game.
But since ya'll didnt understand the post before this
Beware you Jane Goodall's of this Gorilla in the Mist!

BEEEOTCH!

open the door of the store, make my way down to the aisle...
i aint been here in about two weeks, so i aint seen her smile in awhile...
yeah, on the hush its a crush, i visit her every week...
stop by for Blue Magic hair grease just for a oppurtunity to speak...
this time was much different, she more than "thanks for coming in"...
she said "hello my name Sasha" my reply was "come again"...
her smile bright and soft, kinda the sky after it rain...
so caught staring i quickly blurted my name...
i slowly probe the asile thinking Sleepy dont panic...
but i couldnt stand it...i forgot i coming for Blue Magic...
i finally pic up the nuts to ask the gul for her number...
she gave it and replied she'd been waying like all summer...
we chatted and thru our word i began to get bolder...
i ask her "How about date?" she said "i'd love to come over...
that wasnt what i planned but the answer was off the hook...
next stop was the grocery store got dammit i gotta cook...
i walked the for hours brought pain to my feet...
thinking "damn i wonder what babygul like to eat"...
i call and ask the answer brought thoughts to my head...
we meeting at 7:30 and this gul want eggs?...
but anyway i had it set right, crib hooked up tight...
somewhat dim, i turned off only half the lights...
ding-dong! the doorbell now im sweating like hell...
open and what was wearing was even hotter than hell...
we talked for a couple of hours and when the convo was over...
she kissed and slowly pulling my shirt from my should...
i tasted every bit of the girl really from head to toe...
right her on the floor? she said "people dont use the bed no mo'"
woke up the next morning mind twist and still wildin...
walk out the smilin, butt-naked and stomach growlin...
i didnt eat nothing last night but a full servin of Sash...
curled her back enough times to send her st8 to the doctor...
enter the kitchen hungry as fuck wit sex thoughts in my head...
what do i see...
Sasha butt ass naked scrambling eggs....lol

i wrote this real quick so sorry for any typos and left out words, and sexual explicit language..lol
i hope yall enjoyed it was quick off the head and wasnt looked over so bare wit me - peace

Okay …So I’m playing the cut of the dimly lit smoky diner in D.C. on Georgia Ave. The place was sparsely furnished with about 6 booths 8 bars stools a pool table….oh and the stage with one red light one yellow light and one blue light glowing on a dropped curtain that seemed to call out to ya like a bug zapper, or maybe it was just calling me. The mic stood about half staff on behalf of the poets …singers … comics and other talented people who had fallen victim to the short end of an unmerciful crowd of on lookers. The house band “Scrabbled Eggs” was making a night that was hot enough to cook bacon …just a lil bit toastier with the set they were putting on. Even I tho the place didn’t have many places to take a load off …it was jam packed in here tonight.

So … I played that cut … you know just chilling with a Hank and a glass of Yack ….you know trying to get my mind right … watching my process less queens dance till the blue majic in their heads made the roots of their scalps glisten under the light …and plotted my move ….

The mc checked the mic and the crowd broke out of dancing poses to turn to look at the brother … he addressed them as “Fine People” and went about his chore of introducing the victim of the night. He then reminded them of the rules and called out a name.

As the band played “Chicken Grease” by D Angelo a husky fellow in the corner of the room arose and began to walk toward the stage downing his glass of brownish liquid he tapped the mic. The audience seem almost ready to give their sign of disapproval before he even got a word out of his mouth.
Then …….he began …..

I was born to you on a sunbeam gleam
as pure as Ivory
In the rain forest lying beside the Ebola virus
On a bed made of papyrus
cause with every bad theirs a good made beside it
Protected with stick-a-brides bushes that cut like barbed wires ..
With webs spun by spiders sewn to shut my eyelids ..
Then in the talons
I was snatched up ..In a hawks clutches ..
and moved to the Everest mountain crests cause evil was up to something ..
and when spider webs fell it was knowledge that cut ‘em
and the light that hit ‘em begged for mercy when my iris touched it
The wisdom my father authored held my aim steady
and when things changed it was obvious that ignorance is deadly ..
but still NIGGERS ain’t ready ... to OVERstand
most obvious in talks with ya mans ..
ya deacon ..
Teachers
or ya preacher
and they can give you all the Theological reasons
and tell you bout Jesus ..
but without knowledge of self how you gonna know when “he’s” trying to reach ya…

… and as I recited my last words and replaced the mic …the mc met me half stage and greeted me with a hardy hand shake …a half hug and whispered good show man as the crowd continued to applaud he raised the mic stand back to full staff and repeated the name LOESIN …Amazin ….as he walked back to his in the corner, of the sparsely furnished club on Georgia Ave. in Northwest D.C.

Life is hard, that’s somethin I don’t have to mention//
Thieves and drug dealers born with hearts that pump good intention//
Trapped in rowhome jungles and asphalt rivers/ you got ‘at fault’ sinners//
Lost in crack caulked prisons/ we impervious to time as days go by//
Blacks in basement of society and why we stay so high//
There ain’t no need to ask why/ we smoke till our lips stay white//
Cuz the powers that be push that kryptonite//
I knew a girl named Candy, she was fine as can be//
Far smarter than any dime that you would meet on the street//
While other shorties in the hood stayed bein gassed up and girls interrupted//
Candy readin Plato’s book The Republic//
That fast life of sex, drugs, and money she stay reluctant//
But poverty will make the best spirits corrupted//
The kid’s dad skipped out, so she gotta do sumthin/
She’s tries every honest option and still ain’t productive//
It’s tough for single mothers, in times ran by men//
She can’t take her kids cries from being hungry again//
2 full time jobs and a part-time/ equals some hard times//
Turnin bright hearts into dark minds//
Sick and tired of the diet of saltines and sar/dines//
The kind of situations that in good people spark crime//
From strong like a mountain to unstable like fault lines//
Real life is real pain like open wounds in a salt mine//

Worst came to worst so now Candy’s a night walker//
She’ll do anything to feed her kids including what haunts her//
The deeper down the road she went, it made the light darker//
But she’ll copulate for capital if she got the right offer//
No judgin’ this woman doin what she think is best//
You’ll be surprised what we’ll do when our backs is pressed//
Can’t fix the problem if the root of issues never addressed//
The amount of love we show should be how we measure success//
But that’s not the real world that we live in/ instead we push sin//
We hit the ground face first with no cush-shin//
No savin this rose from the weeds that rush in//
So she’s made to touch men/ so she can touch ends//
Threats of murder by hailstones from gun winds//
Can’t measure her spirit, but still measured in ten’s//
80 for an hour/ buys her babies some McDonalds//
But this line of work leaves her one John from asylums//
Stop whinin bout your job, she got real problems//
Street life has showed her sex the real ‘American Idol’//
Prostitute or hooker, no comparin the titles//
In the hood, shameful acts is the snare of survival//
Until she finds a way to ease and soothe her dismay//
Amnesia and stilettos are the tools of her trade//

Telephone my digital OHM's home
Transfuse my voice into a megaphone
Let my OHM's tell the metranome
To leave me alone

In Balance

Caught inbetween the ticks & tocks
I do a body rock with my alarm-clock
In limbo with a dream & reality im locked
Inside the matrix waitin for a phone call
From some higher places
Instead i dodging secret agents
That hold the evil of the ages
Inside there palm-
Relax I calm myself into the memory of my mothers eyes
The oracle - alive and well - she resides
Deep in the words of everything I needed to hear
They bring forward every fear I refused to sing
It is then when the phone began to ring
I trembeled at the truth
See I wasn't use to having prayers answered from a booth
But I picked up the phone
Seems after all this time I wasn't alone...

...TO BE CONTINUED...

smoke gathers and lingers fingers flick ashes inbetween jokes,
He's stoked, as the white boys say, referring to my lyrics as ruins found under Pompeii
Sun-Rah, I am the lightrays, the parchment paper crossfader
I absorb the word
Third Eyesight, I give flight to Caged Birds,
Live televised version
of the revolution
Of a 10,000 year old urgent message left
sealed in the middle of a puzzled cached riddle
Before Rasputin,
Before the Christ,
Before the original Hebrew heist,
Before Issac Newton and Galileo
Before Socrates and Plato
I existed before the existence of Man.

Who am I?

The answer is

I AM.

An African Proverb I once saw read:
"Death is like a Robe we all must wear"
These days the thought of dying isn't hard to bear
the subject crosses my mind a thousand times a day,
I wait,
To cash in this body and repay life back to the Earth
I have no fear,
Shed no tear,
and invite death like a long lost friend,
whose been waiting for me paitiently, silently, at the end

These days I'm having trouble 'focus'ing on a future thats not there
Im not scared I've dreamed death...
and when it comes I want ya'll to keep my casket closed.
Top it with a picture of me loving life 'exposed'
Put a hundred dollars in a basket near my head
so I can get an ounce from my man as he passes my casket
My last transaction made when I'm dead.

I'm not scared I've deamed death...
and I saw my hurse leaving the church leading the line
up in front bumpin' Tupac and R.L.'s Til the end of time.
Su Grip and Tif sitting next to my son, fam and girl
My desired last company before leaving this world

I won't need a priest pastor or prayer that day
just pull the hurse to the curb and let my Last Ride CD play.
Bury me with my notebook and pen, then,
instead of incense, burn some urb in my memory.
Reminiesce on our greatest times together and don't cry for me
Because the shit is only going to get better...

The first thing I will do when I enter God's great hall
is challenge him to a game of basketball,
and when I am done I will sit down and write
while watching you guys live this sitcom called life.
My agenda for my first day is to waltz with Aaliyah
and Scratch wax with Jam master Jay,
Spit verse with Biggie and Pac,
while sipping on heavenly lemonade.
No need to eat,
No need to sleep,
No worrying about heat, rent, bills drama or beef,
Jes' keepin' on keepin' on
I'll see ya'll when You get here,
Peace.

Tried on some shorts from back in the day
I'm still fit but my body doesn't curve the same way
Compared to nubile fixtures that were once mine
Go back in time, press rewind and go down my teenage timeline
When summer block parties would call these shorts to their duty
Fittin snug and tight just showin off my booty
Attracting nuff stares and double takes
Niggas' drool manifested from tiny puddles to big ass lakes
Not to say my ass was the only one around
But oooh them shorts made my onion look round
Like surround sound booming what I had to give
Had dudes wishin they could penetrate so hard like they
wanted to give me kids
But... though I'm still lookin all good and stuff
aspirations of fitting into these bad boys have are like smoke
*PUFF*

Yeah yeah I know kinda corny but it was a freestyle and I'll prolly be returning to bring back some real good ish...

Man, I'm not one for wandering eyes but it seemed like I was drawn into her as though i was at the will of a cartoon editor of some sort that wanted me to get caught staring at her ass.
But damn. It was a silohuette on a landscape of formless figures and the reason it even got my attention was those shorts. I mean they were banging like the Grambling drumline and all I wanted was a rimshot.
By this time I've been gaping so long that I have probably offended the owner of this Baby Phat onion, but I really dont care at this point. It keeps using some alien telekenetics that sound so much like John Coltrane's Love Supreme to me, that I start to whisper:

"a love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme"

It just so happens that as this wonderful telekenetic balloon, baby phat onion walked past me, I felt a jab into my ribs.

"Yes Lord! I'd give my rib for that...."

And then realized it was my wife telling me that if I keep on keepin on, I'll have more to ask the Lord for than just my rib back!

LOL

LOVE!

The sun... blazin heat against the asphalt
The leaves exalt the lifeforce, and patiently wait for the rain
I, on the other hand, suffer
I soon am drenched with not only rain...
But saline,
and excess food
Down the street I look...
Are them dudes gonna ever come outside???
I'll drive in on em... I WILL!
The ball gripped by my palm...
A spin... and then a...

And then after a while the sun rests...
The atmosphere is dimmed, and my line of sight recedes
My steps become slower... my insticts aren't immediate...

A SHOESTRING!!!!
That was all I recognized
Before I tumbled into oblivion... and that once burning cement
Has now cooled off my body... except my knees...

Those...
Those are KILLIN ME!!!

Lol... Hmm, well, just turned another direction on this one... lol.

But I'm juss takin that shit outta context.

dawn descends, awakening, I am conscious
reluctantly pressing forward, the mind jests
A billionaire, wealthy heir, owning buildings
zone when I get the feeling, bringing home a million
A dream I revert to everyday, it hurts too
I keep bills paid, It seems I work to live and work too
everything I pursue, falls through, class curfew
drawn to books on life, but no answers when I search through
In my material being I believe cash is king
but my spiritual breaths sees death in da bling
stress that progress, a closer step to da cling
It's a life heist, exchanging math for Christ
path of my life, fork in da road, follow the light
LED away from depressed nights and sedatives
real life, broken down to positive and negatives

I just wanna spit so heavenly
water so divine
Leave the tongue hit the spitoon
Water into wine
Feeding the masses
Are you thirsty??
For now flow too dirty too odd
Pick it up off the floor
Kiss it up to God
Ask for His creativity to rain down and annoint me
Dont forsake me
Point my pen in the right direction
Ressurection
Raise up my people
Dance on Saturday
Reflect on Sunday
Someday sinking into minds
But for now this ink is still wet

MOtion made waVes of ImagINation
Pastin' words Invisibly onto the Air.
Tearing through stock piles of the creation station,
Poem hungry, 'Pear'ed.

Rock files filled with songs of bong bites all night long
deep tokes of this poetic peyote hittin' hard and strong

babbling with bullshit just to UP this thread
to second the second motion of what bonita just said...
