"? for performance poets- how much?"


  

          

how much do you charge to be a featured poet? does it depend on the venue? do you include travel in your cost? do you depend moreso on selling your books to audience members rather than getting paid a certain percentage from the door?

what if the gig is outside of your city? do you expect the oragnizers to find your lodging?

from what i know. most poets that i know charge 800-1500 depending on the venue. sometimes more if they have to travel but hey, hit up tam blue on myspace shes in the know about it tell her i sent u. but yeah, they supposed to find your lodging

but those are def poets.

those that are starting out not on tv don't get paid anywhere near as much.

ive paid 500-800 for honorarium for my performers....
but only because i was unable to pay 1000...and only because my grants didnt come through 100%

with me i usually say the honorarium includes lodging and the performer is given a list of lodging ive screened in the area in all price ranges.
i usually buy dinner
and i find some restaurant to host the wine and cheese reception.
