we're going to meet up at a vintage vinyl shop in 3rd ward,
houston...i'm gonna ask the self appointed "king" of the
boards some things from what it means to be a classic cd to
why some artists on the boards get aotm over others....
1. why do others...or better yet,how did you come up with
the name amazin.
Zin ~ well it started off as a word that me and many of my
friends used sorta like Whoa! For black rob. After my mang
Tommy Hill died we stopped really saying it . Then I when
back to using it cause I felt like it represented life ..A
maze In …things happen and you can look at life as a problem
or a puzzle …theirs only one true and defined way to live
…but during life the opportunity to make wrong turns is ever
present …that’s why I call it a~maz~in no G.
2. how long have you been on the freestyle boards.
Zin~ mang I don’t know shorty after they started it … I was
loesin, babypa , amazin, one man amazin …now I’m Zin that’s
kinda like my ending I’m almost done with okp
3. what makes you compose the verses you do, as of late..its
as if you changed from the battle hungry to a more insightful writer. how do you come about the verses you put together.
Zin ~ first of all I stay hungry …and not just cause I’m a
big boy …I like to see what really motivates people …and
sometimes I’m just inspired by what someone else wrote so
much I snapp off … my poetic side is about my sentimental
feelings my hurt and how I relate to women that softer side …
4. what makes an artist worthy to be called aotm?
Zin~I mean I really can’t answer that question cause what
the rules say and what is really done are two different
things …so I guess it’s who has the most okp friends this
month. On some real shit though, if you show and prove and
give work then you should get it at least once …it should be
a showcase …not elected ... the masses should have some say
but it real could be granted by some unbiased person.
5.who are some of the artists here you felt have been
overshadowed for the title of aotm.
Zin~ over looked? …well if I say me would I sound self
centered … I mean really there’s many cats that should have
already been there …but just don’t have a PR man to put them
out there. listen if you really want to be AOTM get a street
team.
6. what does one need to be archived in your opinion.
Zin~ it’s not about how many replies to the one post you get
…cause I know nukkas that read my shit all the time and
never reply …cause I see it in ya words playa …but more
about a truly hot post …shit I’ve had three archive able
post on the boards at one time but until it really says
archive this is something I want to look at again … then I
won’t get archived.
7.whats in your music rotation.
Zin~ Zin .. Hov … Floetry …Aus’ beats .. Roy Hargrove .. Jay
Payso …always some Aretha Franklin … oh and my girl’s
singing at night or when we are mad at each other.
8.whats been your favorite moment(s)on the boards.
Zin~ the love I got for the okfree awards … and the love you
guys show on a daily post ya know …I look at each post like
I’m a new guy and when someone who hasn’t ever repp’ed one
of my post does … then I feel good.
9. what books do you read or have read that stuck with you
Zin~ Rich dad Poor Dad ... The Miseducation of the Negro..
and I’m currently reading The Painful Questions.
10. what is your goal as an mc /poety writer
Zin~ to spark the thoughts of another and to just have some
body else relate so it eases their pain.
11. what is your education back ground?
Zin~ I’m a Va.Tech grad. class of ‘95 Art history
12.What are the most defining moment(s) in your life
Zin~ The birth of my two kids and the lost of my mother.
13. One last question when you go out what do you want
people to remember.
Zin ~ not how many times I shitted on mcees …not how they
felt my poetry …but the fact that I live up to my name …I
amazed mofo’s cause you never knew what you would get if
you clicked my posts.
