"HIP HOP DIED?"

Thats the name of the new single and yes I had did it before Nas. Im sure cats gon be saying that's the name of Nas's shit. No the the name of Skillz's new shit. Some of you will remember it from a while back if you ever came to an Okayplayer Tour when ML was on it. Hip Hop is dead is the name of his album...Hip Hop Died is the name of my single. This will definitley come up again so I'm bringing it up now. Produced by Khari Ferarri, Dice Raw & yours truly.

Yeah I got dreams...and all of em are in my backpack.

how can you say it's dope if you haven't hear it. not dissing you but just saying. we don't "technically" know if it's dope or not.

unless you were using "dope" as an interjection or transition from his statement like "oh (dope), okay, can't wait to hear it."

again. not a diss, so don't get all upset. if i was wrong, sorry.

I meant dope shit as in, dope news like you said in your post. If I said some shit like "the song is dope, good shit", I would understand what you are saying. But it's all good, no diss taken.

why did you write this song?
this "Hip-Hop is dead" concept is getting real played out real fast.
its obvious hip-hop is dead but us hiphop heads need to move on and quit beating a dead horse.
right now people want to hear mainstream mindless club music.
shit you see timbaland produced "promicious" a club song it single handedly made Nelly Furtado comeback hugeeeeeeeeee.

Nas can do "hip-hop is dead" album it won't change peoples mind UNLESS i repeat UNLESS Nas as a song he plans on using as a "SINGLE" that explains this "Hip-Hop is dead" concept which i hope he does i believe Rakim said the same thing in his most recent interview.

It's too early to get into all this. I did a blog on it on my myspace page(/ yourghostwriter). And Im not saying that HIP HOP IS DEAD, Im saying that I HEARD someone say that & the song is how I feel about what they said. I love this song. I believe in it. I know mainstream radio & whatevr may not but I love it. I already know some people wont but at the end of the day I love it so I can deal with people saying it aint their cup of tea. Its all good. Its comes with the territory.

Yeah I got dreams...and all of em are in my backpack.

This person had authority? And was this confirmed? Autopsy and ere'thang? Y'all seen funeral programs? Cremated? Somebody let me know somethin'. Are Game Theory, Eardrum, Finding Forever, Phoenix, etc., gonna be soul albums? Latin Jazz? Did someone send out a memo and i missed it? Like, it didn't even make a OKP daily update or nuthin'? Talk about ruining your day...

I'm trying to think outside the box like Henry Brown.

uh...i think that's why the song has the word "DIED" in it, and not "DEAD".

I tell you what tho'...
I hate them dam t-shirts.
I feel like smacking the shit outta' these kids wearing that shirt.
If hey knew what HipHop has gone throo and where it came from they'd know that to wear a shirt that says "Hip-Hop is dead" is blasphemy.
Like kid said above.. they didn't get the memo.
Shit's very much alive in my life.
I can't wait to hear the song Skillz. Love to know how you feel...

i'm here to resurrect. i know that was common's response. sorry, ghostwriter, i haven't heard your response yet. gotta link?

since i haven’t heard the track, i can’t comment on your response to ‘hip hop is dead’. i can only express what i think. a lot of cats who have been in the hip hop game forever seem to be re-energized. some of the lyrical content and creativity in production is different… fresh… even from the old heads.

i disagree with you guys. we have not been experiencing the death of hip hop, but more of a mid life crisis. and just like with people, we will move past this mid life crisis. we have become oversaturated with fast cars, big asses, jewels, and giving music merit solely based on its novel sound rather than its ability to move minds and asses. after the crisis clarity comes. maybe even retirement. look what it has done for jay-z. his impact in the world of hip hop is now so much more powerful and deliberate. i think the pendulum is about to swing back around. prepare for the resurrection in 2006/2007. and just as before, we might not appreciate what these next few years will bring to the game until its 2010. some good shit it about to be released which will fuel other artists and inspire new ones…

i am trying to pinpoint exactly why i feel this way, but i’ll be honest i can’t. i guess an example could be comparing what thought rapped about on the earlier albums (being a super emcee) and the shit that he is spittin now (story-telling, bringing knowledge, approaching topics like on ‘water’ and his flow seems even tighter and more diverse from track to track).

but to be honest, i don't really know shit about all this. its just more of a feeling.
