"Almost 3 years later...where is the followup to Worldwide Underground?"

I don't frequent artist, so I apologize if this is like the 3,000,000th post on this or something. I guess we can't make "Where is Malik B?" posts anymore lol.

Anyway, yea. Wasn't WWU billed as sort of a prelude to another full-length album? I remember getting the general impression that there was something big just on the horizon at the time.

Now I know Erykah hasn't exactly been in hiding recently (she's coming to TX in the next month or so actually, if I recall correctly), but three years is a pretty long layover in music industry terms, especially considering that WWU was billed as an EP.

(52, actually, but the outro had 3 minutes of silence.. punctuated by bird calls?)

still, it featured 8 full-length songs, two of which were over ten minutes long

that's a pretty extended play

Question people… Compared to Baduiz, and Mama’s Gun, could WU even compare in lyrical content. HELL TO THE NIZAH as my man Gangtaliscious would say. Experimental, EP whatever you wanna call it… fact of the matter is it sounded great but was a let down following MG, and this is coming from a BADU DYCK SUCKA. I love this woman. I want more than a musically inclined masterpiece though. Gimme some words and lyrics that I can feel. Or am I asking too much.

And I’m glad someone brought up the length of WU and Game Theory. Although my boy tells me that I sound like a OKP hater when I start to get nit picky about album lengths… I agree they’re a bit short. NEVER THE LESS, have no fear that’s the day new projects hit the store, I got my cash on the counter.

O WELL… MAMA BADU, WHERE ARE YOU!!!

why is that so hard to understand ?
Back up off Badu - It's not fair to
put her in the same category as those
other herbs because she's still working
pretty damn hard I've seen her in concert
twice this year.

Badu
Bilal
D'Angelo
Lauryn Hill
Macy Gray

are just trying to teach the kids about delayed gratification.
the music of true artists only gets better w/ time

To me it is and I like her live album better than MG also.
MG lacks the spontaneity of WWU and the Live LP.

I mean youre entitled to think what you want, and I still bump all her albums, including WWU.

BUT

I don't even know where to begin to argue with someone that says that it stands up to either of her full lengths. Much less surpasses them.

...is how people can even compare her albums. I mean everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but one thing I always loved about the stuff she's put out is that it was never what I expected.

Each is different to the last which is what I'd expect from an "artist"

WWU to me was more of a "vibe" set which is probably why it doesnt lyrically touch the other albums but overall I apreciated it for what it was.

Saw her in the UK a few weeks back and she played a new song (which sounded kinda nice) so cant wait to see what she comes with next...

.....turned dat E.P. into an album if you azk me; oh yeah nobody didn't azk me, well nigga I'm givin' it anywayz.

I think people or should I say "artistz" need to be careful how how they uze da termz "albumz", "e.p.", & etc. cauze to me it'z all bazed on time length of da songz, da entire cd/lp, & in Erykah'z caze da time length between somethin' dat you considerin' to make a part 2 for.

Dat damn E.P. waz over 45 minutez long, phuck dat, dat shyt waz a damn album, not some long azz maxi single full remixez & b-side shyt.
