For most, such as myself, this is bigger than a joke. This is an attempt to stereotype and put Black Men in their place in American and the image they should have to be considered men. Quit frankly, this type of propaganda makes me ill. We have the freedom of speech and the freedom to our opinions and the sad thing about it is that people abuse it, especially in this country. Black Men, in this society, are not allowed to be multi-dimensional. As soon as they don’t fit the mold of what their “image” is…i.e.…disrespectful, self-hating individuals, this society mocks and degrades them. Take it for a joke if you like. But if you read the descriptions for all the Black Men that made the list, you will see a common theme in all the descriptions.
Verses congratulating Common for being a gifted artist and honoring him for his children’s books, they attempt to take stabs at him. Verses respecting Babyface for being the talented songwriter that he is or top of being an excellent businessman, they attempt to poke holes at his character. Verses loving the collection of music that Boyz II Men have put forth and their legend regarding “boy bands”, they attempt to tear them down.
Classic case. Nonetheless. He...he...ooowwwww!
