Brooklyn rapper/actor Mos Def will release his first album since 2004's "The New Danger", on Sept. 26. dubbed "True Magic", the effort includes new tracks like 'The Undeniable' and 'There Is a Way.'
"True Magic" isn't the only new release from the prolific entertainer. Following the successful 24-second short film Mos created for Converse's Spring 2006 Brand Democracy ad campaign, he has his own Converse shoe coming out. The Chuck Taylor All Star Mid Music, based on the classic Chuck Taylor All Star sneaker, will be available Aug. 1 at both Foot Locker and the Converse Web site.
The sneaks will feature laser-etched pictures of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline.

THe Shining will be released August 22. its all Dillas beats with various artists (Common, Dwele, Pharoahe Monch, Madlib, D'Angelo, Black Thought, Guilty Simpson, MED) rhyming/singing on them. its a great album
the shelved album is recordings Dilla rhymed on over other producers beats.

well put....just because Mos Def and the Roots drop albums in the same year don't mean a rebirth of hip-hop. Mos has proven his ability to drop a mediocre record. quality shit will bring a "rebirth"
the Dilla Shining album is a dope album. Game Theory is a dope album (from what tracks i've heard) hopefully Mos' shit will be dope.
but rebirth? c'mon man. how about just some solid releases.

thanks label_guy for the info on the album unfortunately, that track isnt a world premier the track appeared on mos' myspace for a day and was ripped to mp3 before it was taken down thanks again for the info on the album though

But yeah, Mos said that he was doing no press, no videos, no nothing for this album when on stage at Rock The Bells on Sunday. He said he's just going to drop the album and not apologize for what he says when he says what he says and how he says it. Whoooaaahhh there horsey... You can't judge a book by the name of the album!! There's been some plays that I've read and the title was wack-sounding and then you read it and understand the SIGNIFIGANCE (sp?) of the title. This could be that case...

I heard this when Mos showed up before Dave Chappelle's Atlanta set back in June. I liked it then, I like it now. He's got another one that's very political (which I LOVED). Although, who knows if the other one will end up on the album.

...on the superstar snippet is also on a track with Sizzla called Victory and i wasn't that impressed with what mos had to say then altho it is a good track, there's no hunger in his voice, maybe if bruce willis made his beats he would step up cos his actin skills seem iller than ever!big up n e way 2 mos 4 bein one of the best to ever do it
