"So I listened to Building Block's beats and..."

I have to say I was really impressed. What do you use dog? The first track wasn't really my flavor but everything after that was banging! I been listening to that shit all day!! I know you said you weren't really into doing tracks for OK artists but you really working with some fire man. Your approach to get me to listen to em might have been a lil suspect but hey..it worked. That jawn where you flipped the sample that BIG & Hov used for BK's finest was ill as shit. Anf the other jawn( I forget the track #) where you replayed the bassline of Erib B for President was bananas!! Like I said man...I think you really working with sumn, for real for real. I don't know what your plans are with them jawns but I need track 16 & 8 ASAP. We can work out the details later...I'll pay for those two outta my pocket..its whatver!! So holla & let me know what's good...IM me...call me(804 312 4812) or better yet just look at your calendar & tell me what the date is.

Ok...ok...here's the true story...that post was an April Fool's joke(for the slow people) I listened to the joints, all 22 of em. I don't really see your direction BB. You talked such a good game so I really expected less & I was let down. That's how it goes most of the time though, someone tells me they have heat & I end up not liking the music. Its happened that way time & time again. The two joints I commented on were the worst songs on the cd. They didn't change at all, any of em...the first 4 bars were the same as the last 4 bars!! I couldn't believe someone who'd try to replay tha bassline for Eric B. For President. In the wrong key at that. this is just my opinion homie, you sent the cd so you gave me that right. None of em were even remotely close to anything I would rap over. That's just me, Juelz Santana might buy the whole cd from you though. That's the game dog...and oh yeah you did totally ruin the chances of the next 3 producers I meet.

Yeah I got dreams...and all of em are in my backpack.

block basically made a post telling Skillz that his new song was kind've wack, and the beat sucked, and that he could do better blah blah blah.

Skillz provided block his address, so block could mail him "some heat". Skillz gave him that chance, and that opportunity.

block tried to make everyone grovel in it, 'cause people were jumping on block about how harsh he was in his post, but he was bragging that "Yeah, now I got my chance, and ya'll didn't, and Skillz is going to like my ish, and I'm gonna be happy and ALL of you are going to be SICK! Sick at the gills!"----something like that.

I told block I was proud of him, 'cause he got that window.

block shipped the beats to Skillz, and Skillz replied with this.

It's all fair, I guess. block got the opportunity with his game, but when you play by that game, you gotta play with the rules, and Skillz just slapped his spike down.

block came arrogant, so Skillz popped the balloon. It's all fair in love in war.

I'm still glad block got the opp. though.

Yo, I think Skillz had some serious and heavily slept on quality in 95. It was probably the timing of the release that set him back, or may it was the overtone of the album. The moral of the story is if you had just sent the letter and the cd I would have never put the way I felt about your music on here. people on this board talk about artists everyday all day..What if all the artists you talked about (good & bad) got on here one day and talked about how they felt? This board would be in shambles! Thats why I say the next producer I met I'll probably not even listen to the cd so I can avoid THIS feel me? Overall it was a funny joke, but you would expect an "established" artist to carry theyselves a lil better than to shit on a up and coming producer... Obviously Block aint gon let it deter him none, but if I was him I wouldn't waste time shoppin beats to somebody who doesn't feel my shit. I'd do what all those other good producers do and give those beats to somebody else, and if they blow people'll look at Skillz like "Why the fuck you aint take that beat?"....

the funny thing is, my feelings with this have nothing to do with block. its more got to do with certain phrases skillz used like "you ruined the chances for the next three producers" and "That's how it goes most of the time though, someone tells me they have heat & I end up not liking the music. Its happened that way time & time again"... for real... its like... Who are you? I just think that as an artist, when you have a small following, there has to be a certain amount of humility. there just has to be. the reason why many niggas like (or used to like) okayartists becuase they don't (or didn't) come off as gassed up BET rappers who love looking at themselves in the mirror. those statements just dismiss and devalue his fans, which are those same niggas approaching him with beats. to take it a step further (which i did), its not like he put out 5 classic albums or is on all-time top 10 emcee lists or sumthin... i just feel like he has no room to clown on niggas... what gives him the right? if block came at him wrong, you can dismiss the nigga without coming off like an arrogant rapper... unless you are, which its obvious he is...

why was it cool for d'greg to come off like he did? my point was that why are you holding artists to a higher standard than BB? skillz sufficiently explained why he wrote publicly to the whole board. d'greg tried to shit on him on the board, but then wrote him a letter and shit on a much more humble tip, when he should have done that from jump. i don't give a damn if someone is or isn't established, has platinum plaques has lots of respect, whatever. people are people, you treat them with respect and you deserve to be treated with respect. bblock did not approach him that way, thus he left himself open for attack. that is on him. don't attack skillz for popping back, attack bblock for putting on two faces, one for the "boards" and one for skillz in private (PAUSE). my point is, skillz was no more wrong than bblock.

or you can do what he did? what requires him to take the high road? are you the judge of all conduct? my problem is with the attitude that just because you're "Famous" or "an artist" you should take bullshit from people off the street and dismiss it....what for? i'd understand if skillz put bblock on blast w/out provocation, but we all know that's not how it went down...
