Can someone confirm this or is someone on allhiphop lying?
"It's finally happened--the 1st non-Southern rapper to have a screwed/chopped CD is...Common. The screwed and chopped version of "Be" by Paul Wall will be released nationally on Geffen. It was a personal request of Common to have Paul Wall do his album. No joke. Screwed and chopped will only get bigger from here folks. Common won't sell but if somebody like 50 Cent decides to S&C his next album, I bet ya he'll get another 250,000 sales Down South alone."

Man - why all y'all trippin? Down here in H-town, we like S&C. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you have to dis it - or - There's no need to criticize just because you don't understand. Maybe this will help: imagine going to the club - lights flashing, heart pumping, great time. Only something is missing. They are playing Common. Don't get me wrong, I love Common (own several albums) but when I hit the club that's not what I wan't to hear. You need something you can slow down and relax with, something you don't need to analyze and think about. Just have a good time and feel the bass in your bones. If they S&C albums, it's because someone likes it. If that's the case, then don't hate because it's different and not your "style." By letting Paul Wall hit the disc, you can get a huge new following - and for our Okayplayer artists, isn't that what we want? Hope I helped.

That's the problem I have. OG Ron C would have been MUCH better (fuck Watts). But even so, this is a release I won't be checking for, and I'm a big fan of chopped and slowed shit.

cosign.....Chopped and Screwed is waaaaaaaaaaaack! How creative is it to slow the beat in half and run the voices through a vocoder.....boring and unoriginal....I hate that this idea gets put with the South.. I'm from Texas and I hate all that shit....it ain't nothing and I hope it passes.
that dosent mean i have nothing against it but it seems very basic and I'm just not quite sure what is the big deal about slowin down a track. Maybe theirs more to it that im not seein wich is why i aint shittin on it.
And you also gotta figure this is a big country and difrent parts of it is like their own country, their into difrengt shit. I'm pretty sure theirs heads in Houston thats like " Fuck all that intelligent shit" just how we discussing chopped and screwed.
