whenever i see writeups and press releases and articles on it they refer to it as a double album. but then i keep seeing ads and it gives the impression that they are 2 seperate volumes that must be purchased individually. can someone clear this up for me.
not to be negative but i can't really affored to pay 15 each for 2 seperate albums...i'd could stretch to pay 20-23 for a double album though
oh and i tried to click the banner abovve but it's not working.

that's from the OFFICIAL POST. and it emplies that it is a set. as in they come together. this is why i'm confused. sometimes it seems one way sometimes the other. and if you have to explain it 35 million times than OBVIOUSLY i'm not the only one confused and somebody needs to do a better job at explaining these things.

Pretty sure it's a "Sweat" "Suit" situation... I mean they're shown as a green one and a brown one on the site, so I'm pretty sure it's 2 seperate discs.

if i'm not mistaken, those four songs (possibly 'the roots is coming' being one of them) will be available to those who purchase the albums for downloading from itunes for a short time once the albums are released
That any song sold on itunes will be on the CD too... the difference being that it'll be hidden on the CD behind other tracks, whereas on itunes it'll be seperated (like what happened with the tipping point bonus cuts)

They just picked the best tracks from each (there weren't that many actualy) and re-released it as one disc, and the cover was like half-yellow/half-blue.

as an artist recording an album with no budget it'll be a while before i can do so. if there's something on the 1st pressing i may not get to it...

well, usually with new albums I'll buy the vinyl.
reason being is that it adds more to the collection imo and I feel better spending money (the same amount basically, too) on a 2LP than a disc.
but I feel like crap if the album turns out to be crap. cause while the resale value may be higher, it's harder to get rid of.
I've also been meaning to buy a cd recorder or an mp3 player that records straight from vinyl to mp3 so that it's really the best of both worlds and gives me the benefits of buying the cd as well (portability basically)

its not that hard so pay attention:
2 separate albums. Publishing royalty/legal issues prevented us to make a double album, thus 2 separate volumes.... ***bonus fact - there is usually a maximum number of songs per album that artists & writers get paid royalties on (publishing wise).
BOTH ALBUMS OUT ON SAME DAY. They will be on sale for $9.99 each at Best Buy, Circuit City, etc....
There will be DOUBLE Vinyl for sale on EACH volume. The vinyl doesnt have 20 pg liner notes though....this aint the "Right On Time" album by The Brothers Johnson (for you old-heads)
There are NO hidden tracks on the actual CDs since they are both at the MAXIMUM as far as time on each disc (BOTH over 72 mins).
The liner note booklets are 20-ish pages in EACH volume.
ITUNES will have at least 2 songs as bonus joints that are NOT on the album. ?uesto wanted 4 bonus songs but legal clearances may dictate that there are only 2. One of the greenlit songs in particular is hott and should have been on the actual CD in my opinion.
There is going to be slightly more units of volume one than volume two in stores when it comes out so dont wait too long in getting both. Logic is if a chain store runs out of either volume before Christmas, it may take a little longer to get stocked again due to the holiday crunch with a lot of mega-stars from all genres putting releases out in the 4th quarter.
And yes some of y'all will see your okayplayer screen names up in ?uesto's thank yous.
Then why is it that on the sound samples on Circuitcity.com, fye.com and other online retailers, you can hear "Dot Dot Dot" (aka Improvised Improvisations), an Organix / DYWM era song, even though it's not listed on the tracklist?
I'm sticking to my hypothesis that their will be songs on the album not listed on the current tracklistings....

itunes is terrible in my opinion, you pay almost as much for lossy music, no hard copy, and no packaging. with that said, i'm buying both vols even though i have every roots release. i just think it's weak to have to go through apple's copywrite monopolistic bullshit to get some hot root's tracks.
and its super cool that you are putting okayplayer board members in the notes. i'm sure i won't make it, since i don't have a name around here, but i was in De La's The Grind Date's liner notes, and it made my year.

I'm coppin both discs the day they drop. I don't understand why everyone is complaining about the price when we are supposed to be the diehard Roots fans on this site. I'm just as broke as the next man but I can make a $30 sacrifice for one of the best acts in Hip-Hop, let alone music, period.
