Performance game me chills... and when Kane got his James Brown on I started wishing we still had dancers in Hip Hop. Comm's breath control was horrible but his energy was great, and Thought's performance really was the total package, Thought's flow is incredible but when he does the Big Daddy Kanemixed with Thought, cant nobody fuck with him. This performance is the best Hip Hop performance Ive ever seen.

upon watching it again, Big Daddy Kane tore it up. You would have thought it was 1989 again, he didn't miss a beat. Hip-Hop of yesteryear, we need to hear more shit like that on the radio nowadays...

T.I. was only weak because of his southern spin.

He completely nailed it! Looks like Nelly used to dance along to the video just like I did back in the day. His performance was perfect. Had that Kangol SOOO low that you couldn't even tell it was him. The Troop jump suit! The muscles! It was a great tribute.

I knew the night was going to be special when they first introduced Mr. Smith and he came out in his Kangol, jump suit, and chains.

They took it there...and I was giddy through and through.

Funk is its own reward.

its wack that every hip hop performance doesn't have this kind of energy. Everyone but T.I slaughtered it (ESPECIALLY Kane with the dance moves). I give T.I props for trying, but he was a little out of place with the other cats on the stage.

Common and Black Thought/the Roots take note: Give us 1 hyped-as-fuck track per album (anything fast....punk rock pace if you have to...) and perform it like that shit and there will literally be heads popping off in the crowd. Amazing. Thought sounded RAW. They murdered it.

Nothing else came close. Great show overall, but that set was incredible.

how you have 2 Hip-Hop honors shows and have yet to honor Eric B & Rakim!?!?! baffles the mind. they did Tupac already on the first show. i would save De La for the show that honors Tribe as well. gotta have a Native Tounges performance in the show. the list could go on and on for sure about who SHOULD be honored first. i'm just glad they're paying respects period. and i'm mad that it took VH1 of all channels to come up with this first.

After Kane pulled that split.. .PERIOD. Im talking about, credits rolling, mufucking curtains closing, that was IT son. I love BIG but that tribute completely killed the momentum created by LL, Salt and Pepa, and Kane's performance.

This and the Grandmaster Flash performances were all I was looking forward to in the show, the Flash performances were awesome but I never got up on my feet or nothing. When TI started the Kane performance I was a little edgy, you know nervous a bit, but he's time was short then Thought ran out on stage and I heard Set It Off and I jumped on my feet instantly, and if I had been watching that with my family or some of my friends they would've thought I was crazy, man if I had been there my voice would've been real messed up the next time I was yelling at my TV rocking every beat, I took it all in never seen anything like that on TV before. Common was dope, wasn't as good as Thought but when he started to bboy that hyped me up even more! Then Kane tore the damn house down! Almost tore down my house, he is as dope as he was 20 years ago, made the day for me. They did this thing right, this is Hip Hop, shows like these made me love Hip Hop more each time I see one.

Black Thought definately won over a few fans - T.I. was like "wtf?!" lol

the performance was great. everyone did a good job. including T.I. remember, he was doing a lot more mellow Kane joint. Thought and Common were doing faster more uptempo songs. they picked the right kats to do the songs they did. good job all around.
