She doesnt sing Flat like Ashanti and is much more talented than Kelis (albeit differnce in Style/Genre). I agree with several of the statements on here but have you listened to Rhian Benson I bought that album just for Shitz & Giggles. It turned out to be pretty Hot in comparison.

should mary really be #2? what what "Face" of R&B are we talking about here.. i think i need to get that mag. i love my women in music expression but this list is suspect. Teena is #5 but Natalie Cole and Minnie Ripperton is in the 30's? come on? and what happened to Kut Klose, them lovely ladys who use to sing w/ keith sweat (Twisted). and Jade? where they at? Changing Faces? Mya? Sparkle? Xscape? Total? Brownstone? Pebbles? where are all these ladys at? ya'll can't front like they wasn't the bomb back in the day. yeah this list is hella suspect
just don't expect answers to come from your speakers. Somebody ( a "Leader" or social organization) needs to take that message away from the record and promote it socially. That's when it works.

As big a an EB fan as I am (and thats pretty huge) she almost falls right about where she should. TLC being that high now that is crazy. Would I put her ahead of Aretha, Patti, OR Chaka etc? No, No i would never do that. If you wanna put someone like Aretha in the Pop catagory then you havent listened to ANY of those Atlantic recordings. But definatly she put a face on R&b that to 97 when she debuted was missing.

you know i love the fact that my favorite Meshell is #6. Good to see her get some overdue recognition.
but i need to really understand the context they were thinking for some of these names....changed R&B...for example Melissa Morgan, Tracie Spencer to name a few? not cutting on these folks skills or anything...but really, they had more impact on R&B than Minnie Ripperton???
