yo real quick i had to make this known.and find out what you other cats think aobukt this..i was reading the latest "okay"news and, what's this i hear about "moshing" at shows.. say this aint so..i know we've reduced our audiences to mostly COFFEe SHOP CHICKS AND WHITE DUDES, which can be distraction enough ((rhythmless jerking movements and hand claps by everyone around me)), but now moshing?? ohhhh... you are SO much better than everyone else, huh? coffee shop chicks and white dudes distract you and moshing--how terrible!<P>fuck that. if people pay to get into a show and have a good time, they have the right to do that and express themselves in a fashion that's suitable for them as long as nobody gets hurt.

you've got people pushing & shoving each other, its inevitable that somebody who DOESN'T want to get pushed or shoved will. People pay to come to a show and have right to stand where ever they want (as long as management allows). Why should someone have to avoid being in the middle or whatever because a bunch of people feel like shoving each other around? The point of moshing is to be physical and violent with each other. Personally I feel its not appropriate at all in public settings unless the place is specifically FOR that activity. Are hip hop spots now mosh pits?<P>like I said before..other people pushing their own cultural/group aesthetics into an environment is bound to cause friction.
As a white girl who is NOT a "coffee shop chick", I won't allow myself to take offense at comments like that.<P>I've been listening to The Roots since day 1 and have never moshed. At 5'2", that's a death wish. I understand that some people enjoy it, so I just stay in the back and float on all the energy around me. Sometimes I even *gasp* dance, or at least attempt to because I know I'm rhythmically impaired.<P>To each their own, if we can stand to let them.<P>-TC
