After reading in the diary that d wanted to pase the halls like in purple rain, a surge of an intersting thought/idea came to mind. I think D should: A)remake Purple Rain in its entirety B) Make a film similar to Purple Rain, but in his own story C) Make a movie with The Artist ( perferably where he is the son and THe Artist is his father)
I know kind of corny what do you guys think?
But wouldn't it be cool?
Granted that I am a Purple Rain fanatic and know every line and every song to every scene in the movie. I think it would be so cool. I mean they would change the names to fit everybody else and there would be cameos by the original Purple Rain Cast. THe artist of course. Morris Day. Jerome. appollonia and I think Vanity(Denise) should show up too!!!! wendy and lisa. The time. I do not know. I personally think with the right scriptwriters, the right cast (I mean granted that d would be the kid and the soultronics the revolution), the right publicity it could work. Heck we need another movie like that even if it is not the remake something similar, (Oh snap we would have to pay royalties to warner bros wouldn't we?) Gosh dog it. WEll this is just a thought. Tell me what you think? I think I am going to go and watch Purple Rain right now....

YOu must remember I was like four when Purple rain came out, so it was like my sesame street. But I watched it like it was going out of style and I could tell you everything about it. My aunties got me hooked to him. THey gave me my first poster at the age of 6 and do you know who that was. Sheila E. I still have it on my wall. (We have the same birthday<soulgatarius rock>)
Ok I may not have heard every prince song invented, because my mother felt I was too young to listen to it. but when ever I had the chance as a kid I would check out what I could.(ie. music and video) And I made sure that his movies were some of them. Did THe Artist say that Grafiti Bridge was the sequel ( I know I probably said that wrong) to Purple Rain?, because I did not see the connection in that film. I mean everybody was in it, with the exception of Appolonia 6 and the club owner who wore the cape with the D on it. And remember that other girl with the blonde hair who played the piano with Wendy in the video 1999. And Wendy and lisa were not in it either. Well neither was the Revolution because by now they were all fired. i guess I see your point. And know it was not the best follow up to purple Rain.
That is why D'angelo can do it. He can make it better. What about "on top of the Cherry Moon"? I know you remember that movie. I haven't seen that in hecka long. Remember when Prince dies in the end. Were those really sequals(my spelling)? I do not see the connection.
But back to the subject- they can remake the movie or make their own. YOu know how everybody else is remaking all the old stuff like the parent trap and the brady bunch. That would rock. Or I personally would like D to make his own version, starring all of the okay artist. And cameos by the original purple rain cast. That would so rock.
Common, THe Roots, THe jazzies, etc. who should play morris? I think ?uest could be Jerome(just kidding, I thought that could get a laugh)

for some reason i'm against this right now, but you might be up to something. with a good writer (quest) they might beable to pull it off.
but if they don't do a purple rain, i think that musicians should make movies based on their music more often. purple rain is the best movie ever. prince may notbe the best actor but the story was very interesting. and you're right i would like to see somebody do it agian.

how could you not? Prince played the role of 'The Kid' again, they talked about how Billy (the club owner) left the clubs to Morris and The Kid... The blonde haired girl was no longer blonde.. she's the one in bed with Prince at the beginning of the movie.

YOu are so right. I think at the time I did not pick up on that stuff. Now I have to go and watch it again. That shows you which movie was my favorite. And improv was right that was not the best follow up to Purple Rain, I mean it was good. But not the best follow up.

Now remember I know this part by hard. And I am not just talking about pacing through the halls I want all details. Who he interacts with etc. The ball is in your court.

Just because I was born in 1980 doesn't mean I do not love prince. My only default is that I am not familiar with all of his stuff because I was to young to here some the stuff between purple rain and now. I mean don't get me wrong when I got the chance I checked it out. but we must remember my mother had to to be a good mother. She couldnot introduce me to all of his stuff. I mean goodness she almost got beat down by my grandmother for taking me and my Aunt to go to the movies and see Purple rain. I ain't mad at you. I just think you should cut me a little slack. Anyway, here's what I thought up while on my way to Philly yesterday:
Kid and Morris made peace after Kid wins the battle of the clubs with a ballad. Five yrs later there is a rumbling of an up and coming singer that could bring bank to any club. Both Morris and Kid wanna take D'Angelo under their wings. Kid and Morris are impressed by D'Angelo's rendition of both bands' songs. D and Kid hits it off, but Kid refuses to give D anytime on the stage. Morris offers D the world and D takes it. The rest I haven't figured out yet, but the ending would be either another ballad or purple rain-ish song with a big ass jam session.
I mean it's a little far-fetched, but if done correctly, shiiiit this would be the OFFICIAL SEQUEL (damn that Graffiti Bridge!!!!)

Granted that Appolonia was in Purple Rain and not Vanity this is how I think it should go. THe story plot is D comes back as Prince and Appollonia's love child. And And appolonia sends.... oh dang the age doesn't add up. Ok then we will say that Vanity comes back and she is going to say that the reason why she left Prince is because she was pregnant with their love child and that child is D right, but we will say that d is 18(hell if appolonia can be 25 years old playing a 19 year old I think d could pull this off) Now d comes back and of course they(prince and d) are not going to like each other. But he wants to do his music. ANd his father(the artist) is in a slump. He is stuck in a position were he is not playing to his potential.
Now that his (first love) Vanity is in the picture and his new son has returned The artist has now become inspired again, but before he realizes it he and d have a big battle which forces him to join with morris and the time. So D gets caught up with Morris's daughter and they all try to make some kind of Ashford and simpson stuff. And Morris is trying to appollonia 6 his way back to becoming The artist's enemy. Then Appolonia shows up and her and Vanity finally have it out. THen Prince and d finally get to a touching, dramam scene, then they do a song together, they check Morris and put him back into his place. D hooks up with morris's daughter Prince and vanity get married and Appolonia (well I haven't decided what happens to her yet). And then in the end they do this a reinvented version of Baby I'm a star. But this time the Revolution and the soultronics are mixed together. Oh that would so rock.
I know this story line sucks right. I was just trying to start some form of creation. I will post one of my better ideas later.

hmmm...this probably sounds dumb but.. i sometimes like movies that don't have happy endings. how 'bout this for an ending... prince, as expected, has saved the day and rescued D from the evil grip of morris. Somehow, the rescue leaves morris in financial and emotional ruin. prince finally decideds to allow D his time in the limelight and one night, as D is taking his bow after show, he turns and sees morris in the audience. morris, in a jealous rage brandishes a weapon (you choose the weapon). prince runs to the rescue again and takes the (bullet? knife? poisoned dart?) in D's place. yada yada, mentor dies in the arms of prodigy...

D is looking for the glow........ restoring r&b/soul music to its original status and defeating the pioneers of this musically-challenged generation(i.e.The chico's, the ginuwines,etc.)

Ledisi was the bomb!!!!!!!!! A true talent!!! and Angie.......well.......she set the pace! I wasn't really expecting her to do as many song as she did. Sista girl got down and her band was the bomb!
