MTV's crowd doesnt exactly cater to the tastes of us okayplayers...think of it as if the okp's were to hold an award show. we nominate Com, Mos, Roots, D', etc. but somehow, someone like....say....Jay-Z gets onto the ballot. I just knew he was gonna win this award. Damn that hurt! He lost to Destiny's Child for Say My Name. Couldn't believe it! This was a video music awards show, and as novel and unique the video was, I don't think it was anything particularly impressive. It was even that original, look at Sinead O'conner's "nothing compares 2 U", that had a very similar concept. So, I'm not that surprised. It still would been great to see him win though.

This video was impressive, in that D poured his soul into this song. And even though you may not have been impressed on how the video was presented, it was still unique! I don't think that that video would have gotten the recognition it has if D had have been sexin some honey in it, and I think that's what makes it unique. This black man is soulllllllllll, and them white folks at MTV just 'aint ready to give D his props.
