HIDDEN BEACH RECORDINGS DEBUT ARTIST JILL SCOTT RECEIVES THREE GRAMMY AWARD NODS
SCOTT’S SCHDEULED TO PERFORM JANUARY 17 ON NBC’S "TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO"
Los Angeles, CA...The Recording Academy announced today that singer Jill Scott, the debut recording artist for Hidden Beach Recordings, has received three Grammy Award Nominations: "Best New Artist," "Best R&B Female Vocal Performance" and "Best R&B Album of the Year" for her gold-selling album, Who Is Jill Scott? Words & Sounds. Vol. 1. The Grammy Awards will be announced on February 21 in a televised ceremony.

The nominations cap an outstanding year for the artist whose organic soul was not only critically acclaimed but also a music lovers’ favorite. Her music, which grew from the streets to the masses, has been recognized by major media outlets as among the year’s best. In fact, Who Is Jill Scott? was named the No. 1 R&B album by USA Today, was on Rolling Stone’s Top 50 Albums of the Year list, and ranked in the Top 10 for the Los Angeles Times, Washington Post and Philadelphia Inquirer. In addition, Scott was named by Vibe Magazine's Emil Wilbekin (editor-in-chief) as the "Artist to Watch for in 2001."
The accolades don’t stop there. Last month, Scott received four NAACP Image Awards nominations: "Outstanding New Artist"; "Outstanding Female Artist"; "Outstanding Song" for her first single, "Getting’ In The Way"; and "Outstanding Album."
When Who Is Jill Scott? was released on July 18 fans were determined to make the new musical artist a household name. Scott’s grassroots promotional campaign eventually took her and her unique music to the mainstream. The video for her first single, "Gettin’ In The Way" was in heavy rotation on BET, THE BOX and MTV and number one nationwide for three weeks. She’s performed sold-out shows the world over, including dates at the famed House of Blues in Hollywood where stars such as Denzel Washington, Quincy Jones, Halle Berry, Dan Aykroyd came out to see Scott in concert. Scott also performed the season opener for HBO’s "Chris Rock Show" and sang her latest single, "A Long Walk" on the popular "Late Night with Conan O’ Brien" TV show on Dec. 27. And the gifted vocalist is now scheduled to perform January 17 on NBC’s "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
It’s obvious, people are no longer wondering "Who Is Jill Scott." She’s an artist poised to become a legend.
