?uest already said he talked to Com about that, encouraged him even, but NO I.D. is on some r&b sh*t nowadays, so what he would have had to offer wouldn't be the "harder" tracks some of ya'll want to hear anyway.

Let Com do his thing. Please. I'm curious to find out where he's goin next.

In response to Reply # 2

yes, LWFC was "softer" but ?uest is a Root and they aren't all that soft if I remember. People need to realize that Common might be the one who's 'soft'. I would love to see some No I.D. on "Waterbabies...." but I don't think it would be the "hardener" people are looking for. Com's gonna be Com, and Quest isn't changing this, I don't think No I.D. would either. If you want hard quest, see Clones etc. he can/does do it so maybe he will this time around.

I'm sorry ta sorry but I liked Common betta when No I.D. & Dug Infinate waz producin trackz fo him. Da Rootz are tight but they can't alwayz bring da complex boom bap dat No I.D. & Dug uzually givez him. I'm not sayin he shouldn't do anymo songz wit da Rootz/Soulquarianz/JayDee but only a couple of songz not an entire album. LWFC waz very musical, great innovative hip hop but it doesn't alwayz mix when Common iz rhymin. For example; I azked many katz who have neva heard of Common until this album "how do you like da album, do you like hiz wordplay of hiz rhymez & do you understand what hez sayin"? They be like "naw I jus bought it cause of da music & da singin he got it on even thou he curses too much". So I tell 'em dat hiz second album iz even betta & I let 'em listen to da Ressurection album. Da onez who did take me up on da offer to listen to it said they didn't like. When I azked 'em why they said it had no singin in it & it waz to hard (in otha wordz too hip hop) fo dem. So what I'm tryin to say iz dat Common needz ta go back to hiz homeboyz & do an album fo da hip hop headz (no disrespect to Ahmir even thou I dont really care). Anyway jus remember dis, itz either my direction or hit da phunkin matrix connectionz.....DAMMIT!!!!!

Fooorrr real. As long as Common gives us the Bangin flow and thought provokin lyrics he's fine. Sure I want my Breaker 1-9 my 1.9.9.9 and my 6th sense (along wit more Hi-Tek Joints). But don't get mad at the artist for doing something new, cuz if he stayed the same we would be bored.

I think artists should do whatever they want to do, however they want to do it, and we should respect it. Sure, the quality of the music was different now than it was back then, but all music has its time periods, and that sound was for then, this is what common is doing now because that's what he FEELS. Common has always let the public know how he felt through his music at whatever point of time. Who are we to determine how/what he is feeling and expressing? If you want to express YOURself through a NoID track, go find NoID.........

it's like damn...when common was rolling with dion or noid it was like common wasn't getting the props he deserve. now it changed up, going in a different direction...now heads want to talk about resurrection(which was his best album dumb tight lyrics and banging beats ex check watermelon) i understand can't everybody be satisfied but if common want to be more "hard" yo you got primo,hi tek,quest,etc...the point noid got to do "him" and if that r&b than that's fine. beside that personal opinion i rather hear common on a ynot track

Hey jus becauze a rumor dat No I.D. iz not doin hip hop trax anymo (like todayz R&B iz real R&B c'mon itz nuttin but smoothed-out hip hop) doezn't mean dat Dug Infinate iznt doin beatz anymo. Rememba Dug produced "One Too Many" & otha hot jawnz fo Common too. Anyway if No I.D. iz doin R&B, I don't see yall complainin when JayDee & Quest doez sum R&B bullshit or like they like ta say jus sum softa rap musiq. C'mon yall tellin me dat da remixez fo "The Light" & "Ghetto Heaven" wazn't R&B enough fo ya, get off dat crack katz. I still think dat Common should do sum jawnz wit otha katz he haz done stuff wit like No I.D., Dug Infinate, Hi-Tek & da Beatnutz. I already have "Can I Borrow A Dollar" - I don't need another one.

I already have "Resurrection" - I don't need another one.

I already have "One Day..." - I don't need another one.

I already have "Like Water For Chocolate" - I don't need another one.

PLEASE let Cornbread do his thing. Don't think ?uest is on some brainwashing Soulquarian shit, he's just a facilitator. Y'all spoiled cats wouldn't even have a board to post on if it wasn't for ?uest anyways... Cut the man some slack already. Stop second guessing and meddling when the project isn't barely even started. With the exception of "One Day" (IMO), Common and ?uest have been steadily perfecting their artform(s).

Take a deep breath and let the Water Babies fall...

While I don't think Com should necessarily let NO ID handle all the production, I really think money should break out of the OK player lineup... why? Because he is a truly talented brother, and it seems as if they keep playing this brother out, with the throw away tracks, and just the way they vibe with him... I mean be real, they are really on some arrogant shit, and Com doesn't seem to really fit that arrogance... yet...

common cant and wont remake his old stuff, so even if he gets No ID on this next LP, (to make the R&B tracks that Common would surely make anyway) what's wrong with that?

man, No ID was Common's foundation. Period.
sure, you can grow to the fuckin sky all you want, but leave your foundation, and... what's next?

man, even just ONE token, track 12, 2 minute, end of album, dont care throw away track would be good enough for me.

No ID is like Pete Rock, there are few producers left like them in the game

Common wont be rehashing his old stuff, cause we all know he's a mature man now, but still. HE SHOULD NOT STOP WORKING WITH NO ID. PERIOD. Unless there's a problem, or unless he doesnt like No ID's new stuff.

besides that, i want an expansion on 'some shit i wrote'!

NoID had some of the illest beats and Resurrection was Com's best album IMO. If Com ain't down with him no more than whatever, that's his choice so we gotta get over it. Honestly I'm not quite feeling Com like I used to cuz NoID and Ynot seemed to fit him perfectly. I'm not that big of a Soulquarian fan. I would be cool if he worked with Hi Tek, Primo, or Pete Rock tho.

and then maybe their beats will get chosen. Plain and simple if you don't make dope beats then your shit won't get picked. Hip Hop is not a meritocracy. Make good shit and then you will have a job. There are a million dope local producers in this world that could get there break so why shouldn't a so called known producer expect to get their beats on a project?
