"My Favorite Black Thought Tracks (so far)"

Black Thought is being very secretive about this album. he's recorded songs in LA, NYC, and Philly. He lets me hear his songs but refuses to give me any copies....but so far here are my favorite tracks:

1. PUSSY GALORE (don't judge a book by its title...this ain't no Mystikal shit)

produced by Scott Storch ( who produced Still DRE, You Got Me, X from Xzhibit, and the new Eve jawn w/ Gwen Stefani)

This song has SINGLE written all over it....Thought is killin this track, which is heavy on the keys (S.Storch trademark)

2. ROCK YOU

produced by DJ Scratch (EPMD fame, did some Busta shit and many others as well)

This shit is gonna be the finale at many Roots shows once y'all get a chance to hear it. They are already performing it at their shows

3. WATER

produced by Dead Prez and Headrush

He did this song on The Okayplayer Tour 2000. The handclaps are mezmorizing and the subject matter is real. For all of you "Black Thought don't talk about nothin' but emceeing" haters.... I can't wait till you hear this

4. UNTITLED (story Jawn)

produced by DJ Scratch

He's on some Slick Rick classic story tellin shit on this one.

5. RHYMES AND AMMUNITION

produced by Chaos (has produced various Roots tracks in the past)

Thought displays his usual lyrical skill on this track....he kills the shit.

He has about 4 other joints done (including Hardware) but those mentioned above are my favorites so far. He still has to write to beats submitted by:

Rockwilder - IMO this jawn is the lead single...it's crazy

?uestlove - Two joints that had me askin', who did these? ?uest came on his DL Primo jawn on these....can't wait until Reek rips them apart

Jay Dee - I think he has 2 from Jay

Sorry I couldn't give you a detailed review like ?uest Love usually gives. But remember like I said Thought only lets me listen to these songs once....so this is all from memory. Thought will probably be mad at me for posting this so if you see him....don't mention this post!

One question: is this another jawn about a female like Silent Treatment, The Hypnotic, and You Got Me? Or is Thought weavin some other type of story? Either way, since you mentioned Slick Rick (arguably the greatest storyteller that ever blessed a mic) in the song's desricption, I know Black Thought got open on this track. I also can't wait to hear ?uestlove's tracks.

I hope you ain't sayin there's sumfin wrong wit dem songs.
Man I love Hypnotic. Somethin close to da heart. I'm not from Philly or Baltimore, but I got some close folks in both places and it just cuts straight to the cardiac. Plus that sample underneath. I think Slim Kid Tre used that flute sample in a solo joint he did back in the day called Emerald Butterfly. Yeah go West Coast!! lol Gettin high off dat Emerald Buttafly!! WHOAAA!!
Any way I love the way Black starts it off-"I knew a girl name Ilana wit maad persona/she dealth wit reality neva fed into da drama/I met her through my nigga name Jermaine Carter/who knew her through his peoples at da Baltimore Harbor" yeah this cali boy knows about dem freestyle sessions out on tha harbor in B-More.

I love all three of them joints! I asked because I was hoping this new story was in the vein of those I mentioned. But I can still dig Black Thought with a different kind of plot. I just hope he doesn't leave us hanging like he did with Alana from "The Hypnotic"! I STILL wanna know what caused her life to be over.

Nah...this story is not on the Hypnotic...Silent Treatment vibe. More upbeat like a Slick Rick/G Rap vibe.

But don't front on Hypnotic....Part II (feat D'Ang and Badu) is still my favorite Roots song of all time. I wish ?uest would put it on the new album....I think in this market, that song would be a HUGE HIT!!!! And although it was on the MIB soundtrack and it sold 3 million copies.....most people probably still haven't heard it. Who do u know with the Men In Black Soundtrack???

As I've said before, I love this version too. It's funny, cause I could never bring myself to buy the MIB soundtrack, and then I got to college, and one of my boys had it! That song still gets play in my stereo. D and E. Badu added a nice touch to a stellar Black Thought narrative. If they add that as a bonus track for the upcoming Roots album, it'll be a blessing in disguise for all those who "just don't know"!

it seems that Thought is being carefull with shit leaking out. An MC gotta eat. But what about a low quality mp3 or some realplayer snippet or some Exclusive Clue Clue Clue. You know just something to get us all hyped 'til the release.

C'mon sis....I might've been off beat when the Rock chick was on (she was off beat not me). But I know my hip-hop....I'm a old head when it comes to this thing. All I like is classic material.

But, with you being a Trick Daddy fan (that's what I heard on the radio last week) and the way u be sweatin' Silk da Shocker, how dare you question my hip hop credibility.

You know,
the one he did wit Bananaman.
That is the bomb shit.
Just ask Kyle she'll tell you.
She liked the original though, Black thought can't go line for line wit B-man over with the same ferocity.
I think pookie jenkins did the remix too so you know it is a BANGER!!!!!!!
