"THE ROOTS TOUR W/ MOBY, NEW ORDER & OUTKAST!"

MOBY PLANS WHALE OF A TIME ON SUMMER TOUR

MOBY has confirmed details of a summer tour of the US, which will feature a stellar supporting line-up including NEW ORDER, OUTKAST and THE ROOTS, it has been reported.

According to Billboard in the US, the tour will commence on July 11 and call at 16 US cities before August 5. DJ support will come from Carl Cox and Paul Oakenfold.

Speaking about the mini-festival, Moby said: "My reason for doing this is that there is a lot of music in the world that I love that does not always get the appropriate exposure."

The finalised details of the event, including venues and ticket prices will be announced later in the month.

NME.COM revealed last month New Order were planning a series of live dates with Moby to launch their as-yet-untitled new studio album later in the year.

The band are also planning live dates in the UK. Their new single, 'Crystal', is anticipated in "June or July", according to bassist Peter Hook.

Okay first of all if its true it sounds like a great lineup for a festival

BUT

Dont the Roots have AMJOR beef with Moby. I mean didnt ?uest call him a punk in the grammy update? The man dissed them on national TV. I know that shows are booked through promoters and stuff, but still.........

man this is weird. But maybe the tour is only "in theory"

Maybe it will be like the Roots/Goodie Mob/Fugees tour stories that are in the archives?

even though moby confessed and apologized from being a jerk, and making disparing comments about other artists, i still hope to see ?uest hurling drum sticks and moby during mobys set.

I am really having trouble believing that the Roots are touring w/ Moby. I know the masses are into those ultra-diverse genre blending type festivals that are so popular these days, but the Roots and Moby? And New Order? Is this for real?

Could it be?! We are getting closer to seeing a Roots and Outkast collaboraton. If this tour goes through I would think that these two groups would have to do something in the near future. This would be a tight tour. I haven't really been exposed to Moby, but The Roots and Outkast on the same bill..... Enough Said. ?uest, drop some more info for us!!

just because groups tour together doesn't mean they will collaborate. the roots and outkast have toured together before and we haven't heard the two on the same track yet. but let's cross our fingers.

But I'm excited about Moby... I love Outkast and all, but I don't know why, I feel like Moby and The Roots complement each other real well... Outkast has a different kind of energy.

No matter what though, this is an awesome lineup - a chance to see three REALLY GREAT ACTS in one show... regardless of the diss or whatnot, I still really dig what Moby's doing. His album is pretty much in my "constant rotation" cd holder, along with Ripperton's Petals Anthology, Shuggie's Inspiration Information, J-dilla's W2D and Coldplay's Parachutes.
