Ursula and a "...happy.." piece of poetry would definitely be something different. I believe the poems she writes are suppose to be deep and emotional((...almost scary)), so that the listener is taking in to her world.
"...She pimps her innocence as second one demands entrance, in to the back door, bind over 'b---h, you know this is what you were born for!" --Ursula Rucker "The Unlocking"
...Her spoken word poetry is fierce. It's meant to make a stand, or for a social, political form of awareness((..sex, drug dealing, brutality)) ! So much depth is placed inside her poetry, her voice is really soothing. So soothing that when she speaks her poetry, it comes off as being really heart felt or emotional, some what "...scary"!
"...I'm the modern day vixen vampire slayer, unauthorized player, in the capitolist contest to see who get's money.." --Ursula Rucker "The Adventures In Wonderland"
"...Plunge deep into religion was my first decision, to save me and my daughters lives, but I can't trive off spirit and scripture, the picture grew clearer, I made the move to rear her in a life wanting for nothing, so I got into this drug thing, not doing but dealing.." --Ursula Rucker "The Adventures In Wonderland"
She really takes you with her in her poems.
"Still the good mother, I sent my daughter off to boarding school, to keep s--- undercover, all the while envisioning myself a champion of ghetto causes, 'cause this game I was playing, and winning, while sinning against myself and soul to get the gold.." --Ursula Rucker "The Adventures In Wonderland"
She is an excellent poet. Can't wait for the album to drop!
