I just got this last week,been bangin it ever since.Can't remember where I heard it,but supposedly ?est and Poyser did it on some of Prince's old gear.Shit has definitley got that early MPLS sound feel to it.

sounds too obvious a bite of dorothy parker by prince. too little else going on in it. And Im not into such blatant prince bites. sorry. forget trying to recapture princes sound, this is just borderline lazy to me.

Is the cut you guys did on the Paisley Linn during the visit last year? I don't care if folks take it as a bite - the cut is hot and most Paisleyites will hear the Dorothy Parker/Lady Cab Driver/17 Days elements all rolled into one. Well I didnt say that we've been flooded by prince-alikes, just that me, myself, I'm not really into a song that sounds so typically like old prince, regardless of whether he isn't his old self these days.
I do love untitled though - I think its an indisputed classic, brilliantly written song. Obviously, it does sound very prince like, but I cant really say it sounds like one particular song of his (though if forced, do me baby and insatiable are probably the ones I would pick).
this bilal and jag duet is just a little too 'traceable' to me right down to the recording's ambience. Thats why I dont dig it all that much.

Oh,I'm in Seattle,WA. And the radio station I listen to is called,"KRIZ 1620 AM". Doesn't have the strongest signal at night, but alot of folks get it. They've been playing both tracks(I Ain't Playing and I Can't Wait),thought it was odd when I heard the new single so soon(considering they were still playing,"I Ain't Playing"). Hope that helps.....

I managed to pick up a promo of the Jaguar album and it is simply FANTASTIC!!! So MANY musical styles in one basket (Poyser's foray into "neo-soul-country" is just funky-genious!!) Such a range of expression! So MUCH attitude! I think the Jag/Bilal track is passable (it's not as much fun as Cherokee/Bilal's "A Woman Knows") but that doesn't matter cos there are SO many other bright spots--"Stay" especially. The highlight of the album(for me anyway) HAS to be the 9 minute + "Self Love." Can I say it picks up where Badu's moody "The Other Side of the Game" left off with a brighter, funkier, live, raw production that will have you FREQUENTLY repeating!!! MCA should get this baby out ASAP!!!
