i rem. having a lot of dr. seuss books, which i loved...sparked me to read at 3...been reading since

a phone with eyes, that i used to pull behind me on a string

my absolute favorite was my SIT 'N SPIN...i was the only one that had one and my cousins loved it as much as i did. if i could fit my grown ass on one right now i would.

i bought one last christmas for my 2 yr old goddaughter, with more bells n whistles (music!)...her mom called me last night and said 'hear that?'
**lots of funky music in the background**
'that's the loud ass toy you got your godchild!'
i am so glad she loves it - and i understand why.

okay, random rambling over.

I had a lot of dope teachers...but Mr. Smith was my 1st example of an undeniably gay, unbelievably upright Black Male. His presence in my school actually helped me to shape a lot of views that I have on homosexuality to this day...because in all honesty...his sexuality was an afterthought. He was, 1st and foremost....one of the coolest teachers I ever had.

Plus he could dress his ass off...but that's another story altogether. LOL.

Why? Because she saw a little talkative girl with a lot on her mind, taught her how to organize her thoughts, gave her a pencil and a sheet of paper and said "Write."

I've been doing it ever since.

the most elegant black man I'd ever seen at that point. Always kept a stack of Architectural Digest mags in the back of the class room, I imagined his house was as classy as he was.

He taught me to be proud of my name, and how to say it with a slight french accent, the way it was meant to pronounced.

He was the first teacher who cared enough to call my parents up to the school, cuz he was not pleased with how my grades were coming along, he knew I had a lot of potential and could work alot harder than I was.

It worked

I miss that man.

keep in mind that my dad tagged my ass (what seemed like) every other day. i had an uncontrollable will and an even more unruly mouth.

but the only tagging i rem. was the one i got from my mama. i guess i was 9?? 10??

we were at a ballpark, and she'd instructed me to not go in a certain area. i wasn't being hardheaded...i honestly did forget after an hour or so.

so i went that way. my tattling cousin saw me and said, 'ooooooh...i'ma tell your mama.'

'you're not tellin' my mama nothin'.' - then jumped her ass.

i rem. in the middle of our tussle, a friend of my mom's walked by all nonchalantly and said, 'i'm telling both of your mamas.'

we continued to fight.

ma ended up scooping me up.
took me home.
prepared to beat my ass.

at which point i COMPLETELY lost my rabbit ass mind and swung at her.

why
da
hell
did
i
do
that.

she looked at me and said, 'oh, so you want to fight like a woman, huh?'

next thing i know i was slung up on her bed and she had me pinned down with her hands and knees, which HURT. on top of that i wasn't a small kid...i still don't know how she got me up there so quick.

i struggled for a lil' while - eventually she asked me, 'have you had enough?'
finally said, 'yes ma'am'

she got up, looked back at me and said, 'i bet you'll think twice before you raise your hand at me.'

and i never got that bold or brazen with her ever again.

i mentioned it to her a few months ago, and she just laughed...doesn't remember it at all.

it wasn't wholly my fault...I think my father was really stressed out that day...but it started because I had lost a bike of mine, and instead of saying "I lost it"...I said that I thought I had lent it to a neighbor.

He had me go over there...and the bike wasn't there....and we found it later on discarded (I was real careless with shyt...still am, kinda)

Pop took me back to his room...and started talking. Then that voice started escalating....that breathing accelerated and IT'S WHOOOOOOPING TIIIIIIIIIIIIME!!!!

He beat the shyt out of me, yo. He didn't realize how bad it went down...so when he saw how messed up my legs and back were later that day...he dressed them in cocoa butter, hugged me up and stressed the importance of never being afraid of telling him the truth. It's a big issue with him...and it has since become a big issue with me.

1. this was back in primary school. a family friend came over to visit and gave me and my sis money. the next day just before i stole hers and when to school and was buying up shit for everyone. my teacher noticed and asked where i got the money. i stuttered b4 i answered so she sent for my sis and asked her what was up. my sis was suspicious so when we got back home she checked for her loot but couldnt find it. i begged her not to rat me out to my mom but she did. case closed

2. this was my last ass whopping from my parents. happened when i was in secondary school. this guy that worked for my mom brought his 3 year old so me and my cousin could look after her for the day. i have no idea what possesed us but we gave her alcohol to drink. she passed out for a while, we panicked and with some help from an older peron took her to the hospital. my mom got the news, came back from work and we both got a serious whopping

RIGHT behind my dumbass. she and her friend rachel (who also was responsible for getting all my fav action figures chewed up by her satanic chihuahua) were in the backyard, playing. i was looking at them from the back porch and my sister, for no reason at all, picks up this old gnarly piece of driftwood and just throws it at me and hits me in my eye. for no good ass reason. we wasn't arguing or playing or nothing.

my outburst was justified, imho. i got my ass beat for it. but the good thing is, she did, too, after i explained, between sobs, what had happened.

I said a curseword during afterschool care. My dad brought me home--he wasn't going to whoop me at first bc I got the word from being around my maternal graddad so much. Then, I told him that he couldn't whoop me--I shouldn't have done that. He lit into my behind that day. I STILL remember that whooping.

54. "David Fuller on the CTA"
In response to Reply # 5

David was riding this girl HARD...and he was really messing with her. I sat and let it happen for a while, but when I saw she was in no condition to respond....I started laying into his butt (I had a smart mouth...and I was only 5'7" and a string bean)...

Needless to say...Dave (who was smaller than me, but was on the wrestling team and known for squabbling all throughout childhood, I later found out) grabbed me by my throat and pushed me against the window of the bus like "Mike...today is NOT the day...leave me the KCUF alone"...

Ever the loudmouth...I didn't take to kindly to being sonned like that in front of the whole bus. I talked garbage like a bytch until the he was about to get off the bus...then when he turned his back...I pushed his ass from behind.

The next thing I remember was a huge white light as this ni@@a dotted the KCUF out of my eye. Then there was the sensation of me being lifted OFF my feet and passed up towards the exit.

The entire bus jumped to my rescue...and some dude I had never met before but went to a school up the street pushed me towards the exit (2 stops to early, mind you) and told me...and I shyt you not "GO HOME!!!"

I ain't fight that often as a young'un...but I did t-t-t-take this a-a-a-azz whuppin....p-p-personally.

The most memorable though was in the sixth grade when this girl wanted to fight me in the girls' bathroom because her _friend's_ boyfriend liked me. I swung her into the bathroom sink. The next thing I know,we're sitting in the asst. principal's office. I was upset bc I'd never been in trouble enough to go to the principal's office before. So, the other girl was like, all we have to do is fake cry and we won't get into trouble. She was right.

I was in 7th grade, he was in 6th

Darv was always a pain in the ass anyway and that winter day I was in a really bad mood. Darv snatched my hat off my head and ran to the front of the bus with it. I got up, calmly went to the front to get it back, he wouldn't give it to me, so I slapped him and we went at it... I'll admit he got some good hits in, but I was pissed and took all my anger out on him. The bus driver had to pull over and pull me off of him.

I didn't get in much trouble once we got to school, cuz that was my first time in the Principal's office. I'd never acted that way before, and Darv stayed in trouble, so Mr. Perna let me off with a warning.

everyone was talkin 'bout how I went off on him, and I was normally a sweet quiet girl... they would tease me about how I had an evil side that could snap at anytime. LOL

This kid in middle school came up from behind me and tapped my shoulder, when I turned around he sucker punched me right in the nose. By the time my eyes finished watering a teacher had came over and was trying to break it up. I was so pissed I threw a mean ass punch and missed him and hit the LADY teacher right in the side of her face. I got in big trouble for that one.....

early one morning before his parent's got up. We were playing with one of them nerf basketball nets you hang on the door. one of us thought the other didn't deserve the extra point they thought they deserved. so we end up wrestling and punching and stuff.....then he tries to pluck my fucking eye out!

I just remember him pulling on my eye and I'm like "what the fuck?!?!, you trying to blind me over some nerf???"

hit him with a few body blows to back him off me. eventually his pops heard the noise and broke it up. Still, I was kinda fazed that he was willing to take it there. How even get a goos grip on my eyeball like that, I don't know.

I was like 15 or 16 and me and this neighborhood cat got into anrguement about some shit in front of my house. I don't remember what I said but it set him off and he just rushed me. (btw Justin had me by about 3 inches and 30 lbs) So as he's coming in I drop a quick right on him and he goes down. (the punch was good but, he was off balance as well) As this is all taking place my dad is pulling up from work but, he only sees me punch Justin and misses the argument or the fact that he charged me. So he gets out of the car and runs over to slap me on the top of the head and says, "What the fuck is this? I told you about putting your hands on people!!" But my neighbor happened to see it go down and quickly tell my dad what happened. He saved me from getting my ass kicked.

Then senior year of high school I was jumped by about 7 freshmen and sophmores in this secluded area of my high school where there was no security. They rushed me from behind and knocked me to the ground and started stomping me. I was able to cover my head so they didn't get me there. I eventually was able to grab ankle and knock a cat down. It gave me just enough time to get up get a few punches in and run the fuck to class. My back and ribs were seriously sore for a minute after that.

The weak always rome in packs.

In response to Reply # 6

the very first kiss I ever had was kinda traumatic and creepy when I was a young girl, so I never count that.

first real kiss, I was 19 years old...kissed by my best friend's older brother in my car one night. I remember her being so mad at her brother for kissing me and giving me a hickey. LOL It was super bowl sunday...

I also remember he broke my passenger door handle that night...

every major holiday, me and mom would go to Gary, IN to visit her mother . All my aunts, uncles and cousins would come over and Grandma would cook a shitload of food and we would all cram into that tiny house on Garfield St, and stay all fucking day, laughing and eating.

it doesn't happen too often anymore.

School had morning devotion.

One of my favorite songs was:

"Jehovah jairehh, my provider
his grace is sufficient for me,
Jehovah Jaireh, my provider his grace i ssufficient for me

the lord shall supply all my needs,
according to his wishes in glory
Glory say his name and shall shine over me
Jehovah Jeaireh cares for me."

you sing it up tempo and in soprano with a choir that jont bangs!

Any who I'm letting my christian out!

I use to love getting to read the Bible verses during Children's church. I used to practice saying all the names and places during the week, so I would sound good when I was reading.

Another--in junior high, I was in a "development program" for young women through our church. One of the young ladies from the Youth Church, Erica, was supposed to be in the program, too. Unfortunately, she was going through a third bout with cancer. We went to go visit her in the children's cancer hospital. I had never known anyone my age with cancer before. Before the program was over, she passed away. (Sorry, this one is kind of sad.)

for the Kappa Debutante Ball. The next year, I was supposed to be adebutante. I hated the lady in waiting experience--it was so unorganized.

But, the year I was a lady in waiting, there was a HS basketball tournament in the hotelwhere the ball was being held. The guys in the tournament were *ahem* less cultured than us. they thought we were saying that we were there for a "girl-tillion" not a Cotillion. (He kept pronouncing it gultillion. Then, one of the guy's asked me if there was a "guy-tillion." I was just sitting there in amazement. I didn't laugh until later, though.

In response to Reply # 34
Sat Jun-25-05 01:56 AM by KrispeeKreeme

18yrs old, just graduated high school... I thought I would be living it up carefree on my mama's dime for the summer, but no.

a psychic told me that week I would be getting a job offer and I better take it... 2 days later my uncle's wife called me up and told me she got me a job working with her and I better take it. *SIGH*

the casino was all the way in East Dubuque, IL near the border of Iowa, but the reservation office was in OakBrook Terrace, IL.

I booked reservations over the phone for the daily cruises, charged credit card numbers and booked weekend packages for the Eagle Ridge Inn and Resort in Galena, IL... the Inn owned the casino.

I worked with a bunch of really cool ladies, and the company even brought us up to Galena to stay a weekend at the Resort, for free...

I think I was bringing home about 500 bucks every two weeks, working maybe 28 hrs a week. I was clowning... LOL

at 14. Funny how kids who work with their parents either get it real cushy or real hard. My pops was the later. Had me working out in the sun all day, getting burnt, out in the rain getting cold, ruining clothes, getting cut a couple times daily, facing public humiliation over not doing certain tasks well enough, etc. etc.

Made me who I am. Can't thank him enough...well actually I really can't. He'd frown on that. Probably call me a fag or something.

I remember catchin the bus to this lady's house after school for meetings. I never had the full uniform - mom couldn't afford it so I always felt like a misfit

Red Cross certified babysitter--I had my own one-girl babysitting company. HA!

Most of the stuff I did as a kid was through church--volunteering, and the like.

mama always took me to concerts with her...

I was like, 5 or 6... I was too shy to dance with her to "One Nation Under a Groove" like we did at home. I remember we were sitting on the field on a blanket, and there was a small stampede to the front of the stage and she had to shield me so no one would step on me.
