but i'll do it here. if you're gonna hate on someone, at do it for something he actually said, not something you're taking out of context and twisting around.

there are a lot of different subcultures amongst the black people in this country. hood, suburbs, country, immigrant, etc. and i think someone from one subculture should be careful about how they criticize another subculture.

if the black historical experience centers so much around trying to move out of the areas and conditions in which we are repressed and disenfranchised, why is the black experience limited to those conditions?

my mother came from harlem in the 60's and watched people shoot heroin in the stariway of her apartment building at 117th and lennox. she worked harder than anyone i know to get herself out of there for my sake and told me everyday to be thankful that i didnt have to grow up in that environment.

she made it. she moved on up. she found a place where her son could grow up without having to worry about being shot at or getting involved in gang violence. i'd assume that's something we all want for our children.
