the only reason they were willing to do it for me is because i've been into the same shop enough that they're willing to do because they know i won't come back and yell because it ends up fucked. {it won't , it's just that people that don't really know much about tattoos, like people that are wanting that for their first tattoo or haven't seen many of other people's tattoos, sometimes think the ink should look a certain way and then it doesn't end up the way they think it should be }
most tattoo places won't do it without a black line around because they claim colored ink will bleed without one. i used to believe that til i saw a lot of people with color work without outlines that has been there for years that looks fine. it may have something to with just looking more finished with an outline, like the same way it is when you paint and stuff? an optical illusion? in reality i think it depends on how your skin takes it {though, not as much so, you can kind of figure it out if you have a previous tattoo and nothing crazy happened to it, like it didn't fade super quick}, how good the person tattooing you is, and how well you take care of it while it's healing and after {keeping sunscreen on it, etc.} .... you find a good artist who knows what they're doing and chances are they'll do it. same thing with white ink ... i've seen it fade within two months on some people and stay for years on others. just gotta understand it's not going to look as sharp as black ink, it'll be much softer looking. but that's what i wanted with this one. the cool part is that the stars are just negative space, i.e. my skin.

they did white on my boyfriend's tat..its this hawk on his forearm and it looks great and the tat itself is amazing. i'm going to use his tat artist and see what she can do for me...i may try a small outline-less joint and see how it goes
