One of three people ejected from a Ford Explorer died Sunday morning when the vehicle flipped on Interstate 80 between the West McCarran Boulevard and Keystone Avenue exits, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The aftermath of the crash at 8:22 a.m. blocked westbound lanes and created a traffic jam that lasted for several hours for people heading to California.

The Washoe County coroner�s office said Jeffrey Reno, 30, of California was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other occupants who were not wearing seat belts were ejected. Two others were wearing seat belts. All were taken to Washoe Medical Center for treatment.

Police said the 29-year-old female driver allowed the westbound vehicle to drift into the edge of the median, where she overcorrected to the right and then to the left, causing the vehicle to spin and roll. Whether alcohol or drugs were involved remains under investigation, police said.
