You're not missing anything. I've made a few posts over the past few weeks about coworkers takes on things related to these police brutality cases, and Black centric news in general. The last one was about my coworker all upset and thinking that Farrakhan was trying to start a race war with the MMM.... their outrage is frequently misdirected....and this week there's been nothing buzz about the lion killing....so yeah....I felt some kinda way about it this morning when I came in and they wanted to get rilled up about THAT shit...but not about all this OTHER shit that's been going on .....
I'm not the most articulate poster...I often rush to get stuff out....mostly out of frustration and passing the time when I have some downtime...which i've had a LOT of today...

To me there are a couple issues at play here- one is saturation/fatigue, and one is how the media has always operated.
Some people are getting desensitized to people jetting killed by cops, as crazy as that sounds. They may have been truly upset after Mike Brown or Eric Garner, but some people eventually run out of outrage. I think that's human nature. I'm not defending it- of course if someone ever truly cared about an issue, they should always care.
Also, this is a good example of the 'man bites dog' concept in journalism. Most media consider something newsworthy if it's unusual. A story's true importance or its impact on humanity isn't always enough. A dentist paying $50K to chop off a lion's head is more unusual than someone getting killed by the cops. Obviously, the fact that police brutality is so common should be even more reason to be outraged. But the media will quickly move on if they think people are losing interest.
Finally, just because someone isn't posting about something on social media doesn't mean they don't care.
