Boodah for all of that, honestly. I appreciate your candor.
I think there should be more open honest dialogue. It's a start. Man, I don't know what to say. I can't change that I'm white anymore than u can change that you're black. As for the guilt....I am just saying that I never did anything and I am sorrowful too for what's happened and the way things still are today. And as far as I'm concerned, no matter what colour our skin is, if we are living in the West, we are all benefiting by living off the backs of others. Unless we are willing to homestead and become 100% totally self-sufficient and drop outta capitalist society, we are guilty and doing wrong. Man, I hate this....I am sad especially for children such as your son (that reminded me of that Talib Kweli song), but I guess the only way I can deal with shit is try not to get upset 'bout shit all the time, that won't do any of us any good.
As for how to let it go, and where to drop it, I guess GOD or a higher power if u believe in such....I don't know, I don't have the answers. As for the N-word, I agree with u, white folks have NO business using that word, actually I don't think anyone should. And as for caring about peoples who have been dealt some crazy bad shit, I can't help if it my heart goes out, and it's not pity, I just happen to care. Last thing I wanna do is be paternalistic. I'm sympathetic tho and if I can do anything to make shit better, I will. I think too, that it's up to the black community to band together and do what they can to rise up and change the status quo, although maybe that's not possible? I'd like to believe it is, but I realize this isn't an equal opportunity world, so.....
Maybe I should just listen to what u and other folks have to say and do my best to understand and zip it, 'cause there ain't nothin' I can say to make shit go away or get better. But I do care, but somehow I doubt that matters.
