but im functionally disabled without my contacts + glasses combo. DEFINITELY not blind, and very grateful for it. i do just fine, and others wouldn't know if i didn't tell them.
but based on my natural eye sight alone, it probably wouldn't be wise to leave the crib.
i actually walked past a blind guy at lunch and thought about how lucky i was. you really don't appreciate the necesseties until you're faced with a glimpse of not having them.
About twenty years ago, a doctor told me that I should just accept that I was dealt a bad hand and learn to live with it and I have.
With advances in medicine since then, it probably could be corrected to some extent but I've never really looked into it because I've learned to live with it.
I used to talk to a guy who is blind..... he's been blind most of his life and not only uses the net/blackberry/iphone, but also practices law. He's kinda the shit actually.
