"Why is he still rhyming?????"

Guru should write a book or some shit!

LL should be focusing on a clothes line or some shit.

Too $hort needs to be on the block... on a stool.

Run DMC need to be somewhere doin home improvement.

Eric Sermon should run a bowling alley chain.

Ice Cube - Make a living off bein hard in movies... We dont believe you on rekkids.

Ice-T - Stick to HBO Specials and press-n-curls.

Brand Nubian - Dont do it... go run a YMCA.

Slick Rick - Do voices for The Simpsons

Honorable Mentions....

Busta Rhymes - He needs to do somethin with some real direction before he looses his career.

Redman - Has fell into the Busta Rhymes trap.

KRS-ONE - Heard it all before. Sit back an come with a real classic or bow down.

This might go for Grand Puba but Sadat still has ridiculous flow and Jamar always has lesson to teach with his words. I would say no more solo albums, please, no more but another Brand Nu? I'd prob'ly cop, "Foundation" still gets burn.

Meth had the King of NY crown for a minute in a lot of people's eyes... Remember when GZA dropped "Shaddowboxin"????? Every cat in my school was running around spittin Meth's verse...

He (like Redman and Busta) need some serious direction... maybe the WTC crisis will motivate these cats to get serious about thier music.

I bet the reason for Busta falling of is probably because of his label pimping him to the point he has to do the 'shiny' rap shit to sell albums. He came moderately nice on that cut from the Mos Def album. Same is probably true for Redman.

Busta is probably one of the greatest stylistic MC's ever but his problem is lack of lyrics. He lacks real substance and all his verses seem interchangeable. Think is... a lot of great MC's have got away with being that way. The problem with Busta is that... unlike Redman... he doesnt even produce the ocasional quoatable. I cant think of any good Busta lines of the top... thats a problem cause I can think of at least 10 by Reggie. Busta is just Lyrically inept. It's like when a girl listens to a guy ramble about himself cause she likes his voice and presence. After a while that presence is no longer interesting... and the voice no longer has the impact. Solution?? Time for him to SAY SOMETHING noticable. Shock MC's are played out... Bohemian MC's dont get much shine... I'd say... the man needs to really flip some concepts, same thing with Red cause the effect his one-liners have worn off on me.

Two Sad Sad cases...

Drip..Drip...I'm all teary eyed. This means I'm gettin' old. It's definetly time for these cats to move on. You gotta know when to quit and assume a different role. This just goes to show that MC'in ain't a lifetime career. It just don't work like that. I also expect that this will be Jay-Z 's last hurrah as an MC. He done it all, he should call it quits while he's on top (like Seinfeld). He's coming up on 30, that's damn near geriatric in hip-hop years, just ask Guru who should be knockin down 40 soon.

Also...add Cold Crush to that list. They where supposedly going to try an make a new album (i saw that over a year ago). Let's hope somebody stopped them ahead of time.

They came to Seattle a bit a go, I think it was when the EMP opened or something. They did some old stuff that was real cool. (You see where Jurassic 5 got their inspiration.)

Then they did some new some that was like a fucking Rapper's Delight answer record, pissed because one of them dudes (I always forget which one - Caz?) got jerked outta royalties. Lamest shit I've heard in decades.

Agreed on most of these. I have to disagree on Guru, the last Gangstarr album was their best and he came off nicely on the "Full Clip" single a year later. I'll have to wait until a wack Gangstarr album to say he should hang up his mic.
Brand Nubian? I loved Foundation, thought it was one of the most slept-on albums of 98. Not much since then, the HBMS track was dope though.
And I still think Redman might have something left to give, even though Malpractice was up there with Tha Liks new one as far as dissapointment level goes. He needs to chill a little on the comedy shit and start coming with it raw again.

Add Treach, Souls of Mischief, Lil' Kim, Memph Bleek, Amil, DMX, Kane, Master P, and Heavy D to that list.

Also, De La better get their shit together or they might end up on this list as well. peace.

Okay, I know Hammer's probably broke and trying to pay a mortgage. I can see him feeling the need to put out some shit and pray.
Are you saying Salt is putting out a solo joint? That would be truly ridiculous.
What's next? Milk Dee-I Still Get the Papers? Smooth B-Return of the Smooth? Make it stop!
The one I feel bad about is PE. They were my favorite group of that era, maybe of all time but it's been over for them for almost a decade. Chuck's in his 40's now! He needs to stop and go into politics or something. peace.

Hammer is trying to be the Millenium Kurt Franklyn complete with bad dancing and rediculously bad-written rhymes. His message will be positive tho. He will make the gospel market like rap.

I'm feelin you on most of them who need to put the mic down. But I gotta give it up to Slick Rick his last joint was a burner and the cuts wit Outkast, mad charisma. Although that idea of him doin Simpsons characters would be chill..

He could be the cat thats at Moe's bar who says "whats up kid" whenever Homer walks in.

what about Greg Nice he singin all these hooks and cooning in these videos. I think he should organize with the community where he can teach the kids the origin of The Wop.

Me and my 8 year old nephew conversing about the politics of today's cartoons:

Me: Hey Sean..how come they made Doug's friend Skeeter blue?

my nephew: Its just a cartoon Bob.

Me: yea..I know but how come he's blue?

my nephew: because..to make him different from all the other people on Doug.

Me: yea I know..but why BLUE?

my nephew: because they're showing that there's no more prejudice.

Big up to the creators at Nickelodeon for the political statement in Doug. I had no idea.

Run DMC came off embarrassing with their new joint. They should have just retired as rap legends and kept on doing the behind the music specials, cause now I look at them and I feel embarrassed for them. Busta is done. DMX does not have a prayer of getting any more street credability. Redman is definetly gone fruity on us. he should bring it muddy waters style again. However most rappers comin out now should have just stopped before they put out their first single..examples...nelly, fabolous, pablo petey. What is this shit that BET is tryin to feed us?

Redman needs to listen to his first couple of albums...

Nelly... while he's not my cup of tea, he seems to have talent and fits into a nitch of the pop spectrum. He is also original and does bring something to the game... I can recognize that regardless of whether i wanna hear his shit or not. Although i must say he did do his thing on that "Whats Goin On" remake.

Fabolous... is just a case of a label cashing in on a fab... while he does have that Ma$e sound... they are actually cashing in on that mellowed out NY Rhyme that the LOX originally brought to the game. Ma$e ususally rhymed a lot faster than i've heard Fabolous spit. Either way, Fab will be gone after his second album.

Petey Pablo... to early to tell.. the man does have charisma and a bouncey flow that could work over the type of production that sells nowadays. And you gotta respect the man for releasing his first major single as a dedication to North Carolina... that was a risk. But its too early to see what he's got anyway. Thats the only song i've heard him.

KRS Busta and Redman produce tha same album every year and a half. Redman needs to get some producers besides himself and Eric sermon. Busta needs to stop screaming about the end of the world, and KRS needs to retire his mic-period. Honarable mention: GURU, Premiere always carried him and his voice and simple ryhmes put you to sleep. He grew up with my father so he has to be in his early 40's. Also Foxy Brown. She needs to take her flat booty and 98 pound head and marry some rich dope dealer to live off of.

Which songs on AOI did Pos come off weak on? I can understand people criticizing the theme, mindset and even the beats behind AOI, but Pos? He's still tight as fuck. Check him out on the new Ozomatli CD.

I agree with most of them, but I think Jay Z and Nas are on the brink of that point. I think Rakim and Redman still got one more in them. Hopefully both will bring it and come with ill production. Stop fuckin with Rockwilder technotronix!!

Rock's beats on "Malpractice" (all two of them) were better than anything Sermon did on said album. I found Sermon very lazy on "Malpractice". His synth sounds were extremely boring and insubstantial. Rockwilder is the east-coast Battlecat. Highly skilled in the art of funk, but gets relentlessly hated on.

Imhotep Gary Byrd, check out his CD. Luv the brother but he needs to chill with the old school baby boomer flow.

You won't have him to kick around after he releases this new salvo of hot garbage. It's due In November I think. I heard the whole joint, and at the intro he goes on a tangent about hollerin at top producers, and how they all overcharged him or shot him down. He produced the whole joint his self. Needless to say, the niggas not a producer. Still somewhat nice on the mic, but this joint's hard pressed to get even an intro single. Too bad. I always loved that nigga. One of the best dressers in hip-hop.
