"Will.i.Am: Surprisingly Good"

When I heard Will.I.Am was dropping a solo jawn, I didn't think much of it. Then I was in Jose3030's car after the Levi's show and he played me some cuts. I was impressed, so I copped it the next week. Hell, it was on sale for 12.99, how could I go wrong? Well, I'm impressed! I knew homeboy had some beats in him after some very impressive beatwork on a BEP jawn off of Funky Precedent Vol. 1. Well, he outdoes himself on the boards here. With guests like Mykill Myers and Planet Asia helping homeboy on the mic, he puts together a very strong project. i'm actually still listening to it now for the first time and decided to post. Nice stuff.

Thoughtfully yours,

What store did you cop it at?

Look how far El Dorados and wine bottles drug us /Least God and the sun love us - Common

So many ways out the hood but no signs say out- Nas

Come to grips with the fact that most OKP's are of the Nut Hugger lineage, so, if you' re not part of the little cliques that exist 'round here, your posts will probably tank like Souljaboy's album sales.

His name wasn't on the list for Beat Generation albums to be coming out, why did they release his shit instead of the others on the list?

why is that terry dexter song better than *anything* i've ever heard on a black eyed peas album?

oh yeah, i love that song w/ planet asia as well.

and i find myself singing "i am/will.i.am/straight outta cali-cali" at random moments throughout the day, for no reason whatsover.

you're right, this is some good ish.

"i didn't want to give any special personal thank you's for a couple of reasons. besides it being corny, the majority of the world don't know these people. the main reason is someone will be left out and feel f**ked up. don't cry little bit**es, i've been left out before. i know you may feel that your down, you may feel that you supported to fullest, and noooo name anywhere, "well i'm gonna burn the record." some people are thinking after all this i'm saying, i'm still gonna mention their name. well i'm not. keep reading no names are given. in my heart i'm extremely greatful to all those who look out one way or another. you kno who you are. but there are too many names. too many places. too much love. so this right here goes out to you. this is an album before the album. i'm just setting up right now so i hope you enjoy these joints cuz i got some heat on deck. i figured out this game right now. i'ma make joints and be more consistant with it. no more sitting around waiting for somebody to help me, label wise. i need to be heard. i need to be seen. and if anybody gets in the way, i pity the fool. okay i'm out now enuff writing see you when i see you. thanks for buying my sh*t and for being on my **** its okay to be on my ***there is nothing wrong with that. i'm a fan of Bruce Lee and Richard Pryor. so its okay. if the whole world was on my D*** this would be a better place."- from mr. complex's "hold this down".

"This album is by far the greatest piece of writing, arranging, producing, and sequencing genius I've ever encountered. Anyone who has heard the first two Swamp Dogg albums will possibly say impossible, but after listening to this one will make the cross-over to incredible. The only album that may possibly compare with this one is the one that I'm contemplating doing the late future. Everything that is neccessary to make an album I have; Ego, talent, originality, humor, and I am dynamic, articulate, defiant, altruistic, considerate, warm, wonderful, & humble... I have also been a Grammy nominee for the past two years. I'm also a Cancer (July 12) and twenty nine years in the world. What you've just read is my trip, and if you can't tolerate it, that's your trip."

come on man.
that's just rude.

any effort that is put forth is not "trash".
it might not be to your liking, but it's not trash.

this is music we're talking about.
all music is good.
you just prefer some more than others.
and we're all different.

its cool...
some cats like differnet things...
we just do what we like and feel...
and thats what we were feelin at the time...
i dont make music for anybody but myself...
and if cats dig it, then they dig it...
i they dont, then someone will...
maybe you'll feel the next b.e.p joint due, april "sum shit"...
or maybe you wont...
but, hey...
you liked some of our earlier shit...
so thats cool...
but no way are we breaking up...
im just always workin, and looking for other ways to grow as a producer, song writer keyboardist...
and i always wanna put shit out...

i like to produce "music"...
im trying to go beyond an mpc, sampler, or drum machine...
make the same type bang without even having to program...
now days anybody could learn to make beats...
"just read the manual"
the challenge is, sitting with musician's...
composing, mic'ing, e.q'ing the sound...
and getting it to "bang"...(from nothing)
will.i.am

My track is "Evry Bodee" with Planet Asia....that song is just too hot. Its so simple, but the bass, and the chorus got me hooked.

I thought it was...

"Linkin up with the primo, DO IT"

I mean Primo is on the cut, so why would it be the other way around???

Yo Wil,
Sorry to call you out man, but why the hell isn't "Warriors" on my cd version of "Lost Change"?? I was diggin that song from the clip I heard on the net, and then when I picked up my copy, I didn't realize till I was playing it in my car that the track was missing? What the deal? Was there sample probs? Is it only on the U.S. version?

"liking up with primo, dont do it"

me and my closest freind say "dont do it"
when we see some shit thats ill, dope, sick, hot, what ever...
like for example...
if i see a bangin female..."dont do it"...i say...
because looking that fly, its like overload thinking of all the posibilities...
so what we meant with primo, is the same shizzle..
"dont do it"
cuz the idea got me amped...
believe me, we aint ganna disrepect primo at all...
its all good...
he was feeling the lyric as well...
i think he understood it cuz we was saying "dont do it" all night at the studio...
its all good...

and worriors is a song i did for my beast freind in a group called burning star...
"look out for them"

but i took if off the "lost change"release...cuz they plan on releasing a white lable...and i dont wanna get in the way...
even though i thought by putting it on my bbe release would be mad exposure for them, in the RIGHT WAY...
but.. its all good...
"there were no samples"
its all live..(except for my drum programming)

will.i.am

today.

i had heard great things before, but i don't get into that much new hip-hop really.

everything about this sounds on-point. i'm excited.

art over product
craft over marketing
experimentation and progression
live instrumentation and performance
vision and expression
bangin'

sounds right.

thanks to all ya'll for the extra info on the album, and thanks to will.i.am for the in-depth
