"Have we talked about the industry selling us the homo lifestyle?"

seriously, has this been discussed?
it's pretty apparent to me that this is the in-thing for now, and there are resaons for it
we all know (or at least I hope we do) that the music industry is owned by Jews, but it's ran by homosexual men (some of which happen to be pedophiles) that actually decide what goes and what stays
now if you look at it carefully, you'll see that there's a tangible timeline for prevalent imagrey in Hip Hop's artists that switch every so often
the thug/big bad nigger motif was selling a shitload of records up until the turn of the century at the most, then rappers who more or less catered to women more started to sell and get pushed
out of that we got rappers that not only catered to women and made records/videos with them in mind, they even started to look like women, or decidedly less masculine
this isn't a coincidence, people
these corporate execs are basically pulling the switcheroo on us now; before they were selling a fantasy, but when people stopped being enthralled with that fantasy (hood niggers) now they're selling their reality because it's what they know the best (femenine ass rappers)
I can't be the only one that sees this shit, but I don't remember an actual discussion about it being had here
what say you?

now there's a massive shift not only in topics, but in dress, dance and sentiment

i used to tell a friend of mine who was happy about the videos and commercials objectifying women, to watch out, cause soon those booty shots are gonna be of men.

he didnt believe me.

lol.

u cant objectify one without the other.

his argument was that men were the ones filming, so naturally they were gonna focus more on women, i told him that meant nothing.

he believes me now.

certainly the clothes, and all this soft ass emo-hook shit too.

Im not homophobic, got no beef with em and dont waste my time thinking about what they do, but when I go to Buffalo Wild Wings and see a group of young brothers in skinny jean, fluorescent colors, and dancing with each other on the corner, literally dancing with each other, its just weird.

Promoting the homosexual lifestyle under the guise of tolerance ( hate that word ) and equal rights would be a pretty big. . . umm, conspiracy?

The real question is if this is indeed going on then what would the true motive be, you not gonna get a brothers dollar trying to sell him some gay stuff. Have young White males already been gayed out with emo? I keep reading that there wasnt one top 10 rock song last year, and rock used to be super masculine.

and again, its always about paper, but what would be the point of trying to make everybody accept this lifestyle?

but the music is pretty damn soft these days, but thats where Bright Future Buddy System Help Them All comes in I guess. . .

I agree
I'm not homophobic in the slightest, but what bothers me is niggas doing shit like that and not having a clue about where it comes from or what they're actually doing

>Promoting the homosexual lifestyle under the guise of
>tolerance ( hate that word ) and equal rights would be a
>pretty big. . . umm, conspiracy?
>

see the thing is it's being done covert, on some tranny shit
no way they'd say 'oh yeah this dance originated in the gay clubs' or 'this is how we wear our shit, it's hot so you should do it too'
they're just telling niggas to do it, having them popp off it, then making other niggas follow suit

>The real question is if this is indeed going on then what
>would the true motive be, you not gonna get a brothers dollar
>trying to sell him some gay stuff. Have young White males
>already been gayed out with emo? I keep reading that there

>

like I said, the music industry is running out of ideas so they're selling wha they know and what they wanna see
like if a nigga is a director and he like seeing hoes in leather catsuits in his personal life, then he'll have them in the videos and movies too
that's what's being done here

>and again, its always about paper, but what would be the point
>of trying to make everybody accept this lifestyle?
>

because it's easily understood by the execs and it's easier to turn out product when you have full grasp of the shit beforehand
no need to gauge demographics if you're creating and controlling said demographic
the recording industry has been on some cut-the-middle-man shit for at least a decade and that pretty much hits across the board

thats what is so crazy to me, why push so hard to sell people on some shit the majority of society doesnt believe, condone, or accept.

its just the thought of a handful of people being so james bond villainish that they want to change everything to make themselves more comfortable, when continuing to give fools what they already accept would much easier.

but yeah, its all going that way, but the tip of iceberg would be a hip hop equivalent of Lady Gaga, Nicki wasnt it, this shit is reminding me of that Boondocks episode lol

for paper niggas tho I'm guessing it breaks down like this:
-gay men that are down with that lifestyle and can relate to it
-straight women that'll buy anything they even remotely like
-straight men who don't give a fuck about how a nigga dresses as long as he can get the music at the barbershop
-gay women that are down with that lifestyle and can relate to it
one of those sticks out as being non-ionclusive to the marketing strategy, don't take a nuclear rocketry nigga to figure it out

also, if we're talking pedophiles... the most notorious of them is a heterosexual

In response to Reply # 0

The notion of hip-hop "super stardom" really only came to light in the early 2000s. Prior to that, the idea of becoming an international icon because of hip-hop was entirely fallacious.

The only black man that these newfound 'people of fame' could look to as inspiration was none other than Michael Jackson--- who was a perpetrator of the feminine-male thing that you're deciding to call "homo."

The first big-timer to fully embrace the MJ-ified state of hip-hop was Kanye in his early days, but notions of it could be seen with tons of cats... 50 Cent, Puffy, (even Tupac was somewhat of a prototype)

when his records were getting to 'that' status? If anything, hammer had that fashionista/image-conscious persona before anybody else. I'd say MJ definitely played a role in his career.

But, conversely, The mainstream "white" media viewed Hammer as novelty, for the most part.

but I don't think the trend really saturated into the 'underground' in the '90s... not the way it had in the '00s.

I'm not sure what kind of role the "bling" era had in setting off the mindset. I think it was a pivotal start to the fashion-conscious breed of non-famous sexually-ambigious rappers out today.

In response to Reply # 75

spew120 said that *the notion of the rapper as a MJ-LEVEL SUPERSTAR was a new idea that started with Kanye West*

I pointed out that Hammer did it almost 20 years before... He was (or aspired to be) an MJ-scale rap superstar.

I offered and still offer no comment on the femininity issue, as this entire discussion is a bit dumb to me.

the selective censoring done on old rap albums

sometime in the '90s, even artists that were on that "thug" shit (Lench Mob) comes to mind, got any and all homophobic slurs reversed/edited out if they were on certain labels, but all other cursing remained intact. there wasn't even a real controversy about the homophobia then as there would have been now

though Ice Cube famously got away with it, anytime you mentioned things "Jew" or "Jewish" in the same period would get blanked out (esp. if you were on Interscope-related labels)

all the shit said on rap, and those two things were singled out above anything else, and when you found something out the norm (like Puff making the executive decision to reverse "pregnant" on the Biggie album) it was explained after the fact by the responsible parties

right. You can scream the N-Word all day and night, and THAT was cool. But slur toward anybody ELSE were considered 'offensive'.

and all that "term of endearment" plea-coppin' aside, the n-word is STILL at the end of it all, a slur.

they were a weird example. and it wasn't consistent. sometimes they let a few songs get away with it.

and there are some copies of Walkin' With A Panther, not labeled "the radio" version, but all the songs were edited (some of the edits didn't make sense at all, I guess the implication was "prison rape" in one song, but he wasn't cursing).

I imagine it was some reference to him being gay, and knowing Common's track record before Electric Circus, he wouldn't have been shy about putting that out there.

however, on a De La album, I could see it being censored. Cats that are conscious about how some lines may not work with what the rest of what they say, may ask for that to be edited... part of the reason why that those uncensored demos from the Low End Theory were so shocking to hear.

Lest they get a response like some cats did when Nag Champa's regurgitation of an old lyric caught dudes off guard.

the "circle of faggots" line, harsh as it was, kind of fit the rest of the lyrics/tone Com was spitting in in that song

it was in "Nag Champa" where he essentially reused a lyric from some song I have somewhere called "Funk Shit", he took the homophobia to a level that got him in hot water:

"There's rumors of gay MCs/don't come around me with it
You still rockin' hickies/don't let me find out he did it"

actually, that whole verse didn't seem like it belonged on that song... it was too smoothed out for Com to reuse the lyrics of that other song, which was some more hardbody Chicago stuff.

In response to Reply # 0

They already been selling to the females & to men but then they realized the homo-thugs were loving the muscle-bound shirtless rappers, but to the guys who wasn't turned on to them it was time to reach that other fan base of the male fashionistas who wanted the hipster, softer, look of male rappers, and you got to remember hip-hop was always about fashion.

Rock music has gone thru this phase, like other genres and now it's time for rap music to do the same, labels are following a repeated guideline they have been imputting within the music industry for mad decades.

(gay white men be doing they thing too, though)

Gay black men got their shit together. They do well in
school, got jobs, are detail oriented, etc.

Straight black men like whiskey and pussy more than
prestige and money.

So you got a point.

we can't blame the music industry for selling stuff(images, products, etc).
that's what they do.

we CAN blame a lack of parenting, and guidance on the fact that
kids and grown men tend to follow whatever trends that come
out of this industry.

is the music industry devisive? absolutely.
are they using superficial, homosexual imagery and trends to sell their product?
probably.

we don't have to follow every trend. that's a decision WE make.

right
but what I'm saying is that it's being done intentionally
I don't support that shit and I don't help others to supoprt it, either

I agree, again, but that's not the issue I'm discussing here
nobody makes you go out and buy shit
they might make you feel out of place for not supporting it, but that's about it

If you're talking about certain modes of dress and dance, which fashion trends have NOT been initiated or propagated by gay men in the first place? None of that shit is new or unique to hip-hop...

Unless you're saying the industry is actively urging straight black males to swallow sausage, I'm not sure I get the point.

My sentiment exactly. Everytime I read 1 of these schizoid, homophobic "I'm no homophobe but the homos are invading..NO HOMO" posts, I imagine the poster's shaky sexual identity falling apart like a bag of mexican dirt weed. Why do u care? Thou doth protest too much.

I give gay black niggas mad props

They are overrepresented amongst successful
blacks for a reason

Good for them

The fact that they like penis don't make me
hate them, but they are different than me in
a very fundamental way. Liking the taste of
vagina is a very important, significant, fundamental
part of who a lot of niggas are. Us pointing that
out aint homphobic, nigga

MY THING...I SHIFTED THRU THE RELIGIOUS SLANT THAT DUDE WAS ON AND JUST TRIED TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE INFO HE WAS ACTUALLY TRYING TO CONVEY

SYMBOLISM IS VERY BIG AND POWERFUL

CAN'T ARGUE WITH THE FACT THAT "SHE" HAD THE DIONYSUS SYMBOL ON HER "GODDESS" WARDROBE. THE 2 DUDES THAT WAS IN THE VIDEO...ROCKING THE DIFFERENT COLOR BELTS...CAN'T ARGUE WITH THAT ONE EITHER...ESPECIALLY SINCE I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE COLOR WHITE BEING ASSOCIATE WITH TRANSGENDER...I LOOKED IT UP AND CONFIRMED THAT INFO...WHICH IS WHY I ACTUALLY DISAGREED WITH THE ONE ASSESSMENT HE MADE ABOUT LADY GA GA...SHE WAS WEARING WHITE BECAUSE SHE IS AN HERMAPHRODITE NOT WHAT HE WAS SAYING

... i disagree.
giving too much credit to the gay "trend pushers". this (fashion) too shall pass & we should rather be asking what has changed men so much that they are less "masculine" in their dress sense rather than pushing a conspiracy theory.

I still think it's really nothing new or homo: Bob Marley's bells were way tighter than my skinnies. imagery especially in music will always change or recycle itself.

p.s " ran by homosexual men (some of which happen to be pedophiles)"...really now??

What exactly is the conspiracy that your kinda elusively suggesting here?

That the record industry (Jews and gays) are trying to turn black people gay?

And this is some sort of masterplan to keep black people 'soft' or something like that?

If that's not it than just say what your alluding to cause it's sounding paranoid and illogical to me. Bordering between hilarious and concerning.

The basic premise of your post seems to be that Jews and gays, respectively, own and control the music industry, and furthermore...that they use this position of power to 'social engineer' trends.

We've all heard this type of argument with the gangster image of hip hop. Something to the effect of 'Jews are fueling negative stereotypes of black people with the aims of keeping the social order intact.' blah blah blah.

Your post sounds like an update of this conspiracy....the Jews have gotten together in their dimly lit backrooms with cigars and have now decided to push gay imagery instead of gangster imagery upon the black youth.

These types of views are conspiratorial in nature. Did it ever occur to you that record company execs and owners are trying to make money? To suggest that their motives in selling records is to 'socially engineer the minds of black youth' is pretty naive to me. It might make for a good thesis paper...but it's laughable in the real world.

im wondering if theres guys from vivid or wherever doing A&R at the majors these days lol.

i mean, i might just be getting old (and hey, i do actually like some of rihannas videos - rudeboy, questionable content aside looked pretty cool), but it seems fucking boring now, the amount of porny content in music videos you see these days (never mind the lyrics). i know people have to up the ante all the time but when youve got rihanna doing s&m stuff on a video that barely anyone bats an eyelid about, and if you match the facial expressions of most pop stars doing their 'sexy' face, its basically the same as when the avg modern pornstar is getting fucked, so im wondering whats next. bukakke music videos? gangbangs? (this might already have been done, i dunno).

What they're selling is what they think will sell. It's just a game of follow the trend. We've been here before. Hair metal was feminized (lipstick, tight pants, lots of skin showing, long and teased hair), then alternative hard rock and metal was a response to that. Disco was feminized, then the stuff responding to disco was the other way around. You want to know what record execs are selling? Whatever they think will make a buck. They don't create the trends, they just exploit them (for the most part - there are exceptions, but even in those cases it's usually just an amplification effect rather than them creating a brand-new trend from whole cloth). The better ones see it coming before it's even a trend. But no, they're not sitting around having gay sex in their offices and thinking, "You know what America would buy right now? THIS!"

While your past posts have entertained me greatly, this one does not.

For the record, I am not offended by your opinion, because I can't even begin to see where it makes sense enough for me to BE offended.

Continue to have your fun on this one and I'll watch.

what in the world are you talking about?
yet another person that didn't even read the thread and caught feelings
its not a joke and I never said anything about any opinion I might have
and it has been said, from what I gather, by industry execs that it's actually being done by choice
I never said shit about a conspiracy, that's that other nigga up there talking that shit
but the homosexual lifestyle IS being mass produced and forced upon Hip Hop on a cultural scale, just as hardcore niggers were and Chippendale rappers were before it
that's all this thread is about, but thanks for getting wet in the ass and jumping the gun anyway

...its now seen in the same light as r&b and pop ...its no longer viewed as edgy or threatening ..before its was a Lion, now hip hop is a domestic cat ..i guess once mass media embraced hip hop at some point the sissification of the music would occur

now, there's still some dudes underground coming with the hardcore shit, so dont get me wrong.. but overall hip hop has turned soft.. most the shit out today sounds wimpy as fuck.. that goes for the beats AND the rhymes.. and yeah, hip hop "fashion" is smh laughable in 2011..

okay. If I were to follow your own thoughts on this and not let my own interefere, from logic alone, I get stuck. The realities that YOU think top/of/the/food/chain homosexuals are selling is at the most an image that we as the consumer realize. We make the image our reality. THEIR REALITY is not some rapper with tight pants and effeminate behavior because FYI the homosexual world is just as racist and classicist as the "straight" world and their idea of what is desireable is not the black male body. They may objectify it, fetishize it, but it's oftentimes not something they will take to St. Tropez. Straightness has made some of ya'll dumb..all twisted in a Charlie Sheen like state of psychosis of the gays coming to take over you and the music. The record business is in the business of selling what sells and look around TIGHT PANTS and BUBBLE GUM hooks are hot!

It's always an image they sell because no one likes reality. Just like you can't consider it being a fact that tight pants and ass out is just as much a fantasy for some as the video hoes might have been for others. That's my point.

because seriously I'd have trouble telling you which group had more gay members

I mean homeboy on the right has on white cowboy boots with a canary yellow jock strap and a shiny vegas gold coat... with a damn belt no less. Dude looks like he's straight out of the SF Pride Festival.

you're taking the imagery and style of 15 years or so and applying it to the whole of hip hop.

even worse you are making the change into some gay conspiracy... when instead things are just changing like they always have.

And you didn't have to say shit about RUN-DMC because what you're talking about here goes directly back to them... and if you don't understand that then maybe you shouldn't be posting about hip hop in the first place.

cos from what im seeing, its plenty of hetero guys and girls that are dribbling at the mouth to sell us the homo-dabbling lifestyle for years now. i mean, when you have characters in mainstream comedies like friends talking about wanting to see two girls kissing all the time, you know things have changed (and that was about 15 years back). the whole gay dabbling/flirting thing is mainly women though, usually for the pleasure of hetero men (are there any other men who dont really care for watching lesbianism btw? or am i the only one). the real 'selling us the homo lifestyle' will begin when straight men start getting sent messages about how they need to try getting fucked in the ass. but im not seeing that one happening any time soon. in the meantime, i suppose well just have to settle for slightly tighter jeans and jackets.

as in, you're not the only one who isn't all rah-rah about seein' that. largely, because it's kind of corny when it's done "for the pleasure of hetero men".

I would laugh though, if some rapper redid the "I Wanna Fuck You In The Ass" song that was in that one Dutch commercial though and sold it on some gay shit.

To me, the move to tighter clothing is just a trend. A change from baggy shit (which does look ridiculous..think 90's Da Brat or tall-tees) to a more fitted look. Skin-tight jeans are simply uncomfortable to me so i dont rock them but skinny jeans is aight wit me. Most notably, they tend to draw more attention to your shoes which loose baggy joints take away from.

besides...sexuality cannot be defined by trivial garments

hip hop has definitely gotten softer since the 90's, when gangsta rap was def. huge. but then again, that's good. there was way too much fake thugging going on anyway. plus, no trend lasts too long anyway. this era of hip hop will change as well. your post reads like you're worried they will transform you into a gay man thru hip hop music. still plenty of great music, still plenty of gangsta shit out there if that's what you're into or need.

for those of us that've been around since the 80's, rap has lost it's "dangerous" appeal, and maybe some people miss that. i don't. as long as there is still great hip hop music coming out (there is).

p.s. seen a few people mention skinny jeans. y'all must be young as hell. skinny jeans ain't new to hip hop. i mean, i don't care for the ultra emo/electronica hip hop myself, but let's not act like they're selling us a lifestyle. they ain't selling me shit i don't want to buy.

first of all, let me state that I am sorry if I offended you, as it wasn't my intent to seem intolerant
but if you took the time to read the post, you would see that I didn't take issue with what's being sold just because of what it is
I simply asked had we talked about it
I didn't say anything that hasn't been confirmed in secret by those in the know
my views aren't myopic at all
its the truth that a lot of the tastemakers in the music industry, on the corporate level, are gay black men
and because the industry is in a state of disarray, these guys are basically selling what they know best
it's no different than what Suge Knight did with Death Row, he didn't sign anyone that didn't fit a certain image, and if they didn't before they got signed they did afterwards

>IF you had ANY credibility with your argument, you killed it
>in the title and first 4 lines of the post.
>

actually all I said in the title was 'have we talked about how the industry is selling the homo lifestyle' with the word 'homo' shortened due to space constraints in the title box
and if you stopped reading after the 4th line because of what you THOUGHT I was saying, well, that's not my fault
but I'd encourage you to read on, seriously

>Generalizing NEVER brings about constructive discussion dude.
>

there was no generalization made in my initial post, or any thereafter
and don't take it the wrong way, because I'm not trying to be snarky, but if you didn't read the rest of the posts, and the followup posts, you won't have a clear idea of where I was going with it
keep in mind that when niggas clowned you in GD for coming out, I was one of the ones that defended you, so you've definitely got it all wrong homie

>first of all, let me state that I am sorry if I offended you,
>as it wasn't my intent to seem intolerant

Oh I read your post.

As I said before, you didn't offend me at all. Hell, as an admitted gay, I STILL use the word "gay" to describe certain shit as weak, but much like my use of the N word, I admit it as a crutch that I'm working to stop.

That aside, the main idea of your post has nothing to do with homosexuality. That's my main beef - it's not that you offended me as a gay man - if anything, you offended my intelligence by wrapping a good idea of a post up in a bullshit-sized piece of Saran Wrap.

It's almost as if you served a Steak Dinner on a garbage can lid. Feel what I'm sayin'?

At the crux of your post, you're right - there IS a softening of the black male culture through our music. I noticed it as an R&B fan. R&B males are TOTALLY bitchified now.

(and yes, I realize my use of the word "bitchified" could offend some women who feel the word "bitch" is disrespectful, but charge it to my brain, not my heart ladies)

We don't have any more black power R&B males singing songs of empowerment and change. It's all love shit.

HOWEVER...

Your (and others in this post) generalizing of homosexuals in this post is truly a bad thing dude. This is what's wrong with our culture and society and why we as black people can't accept homosexuals as they are.

SO MANY gays are hiding amongst places like here for fear of being associated with the "feminine" nature of *some* gays. That ain't right, and it won't stop until we get smarter about how we explain shit.

If you want to say that the culture has gotten weak and lost its' "teeth", say THAT then...but don't call it homo/gay dude. Rise above the bullshit.

Does all of ^that^ prove that I actually read your post?

>its the truth that a lot of the tastemakers in the music
>industry, on the corporate level, are gay black men

Even if you COULD successfully argue that most tastemakers are gay black men, their ability to spot what's good or not has absofucktively NOTHING to do with their sexuality.

Luther was gay as a picnic basket...and dude made so damn many DEFINITIVE drop ya draws anthems that MANY children could trace back to their point of conception...and that says what? ©Christopher Tracy

>keep in mind that when niggas clowned you in GD for coming
>out, I was one of the ones that defended you, so you've
>definitely got it all wrong homie

I haven't forgotten, and I appreciate it.

However, YOU got it all wrong. You didn't offend me in this post at all...I don't think you set out to offend gays either. I will say this though, with all due respect: up until now I have not taken your posts seriously because all the cockpuffer and faggotry talk was CLEARLY the work of somebody who posts merely for fun. Seeing you try to post about something serious was like seeing The Joker trying to give out serious makeup tips.

So, I'm all about resolution dude. I don't like beef...unless it's on a plate. So please try reconstructing your argument without the gay angle and let's see where you're going.

*once again grabs popcorn and sits back in post*

that's your opinion and you're entitled to it, so I'll leave that where it is

>At the crux of your post, you're right - there IS a softening
>of the black male culture through our music. I noticed it as
>an R&B fan. R&B males are TOTALLY bitchified now.
>
>(and yes, I realize my use of the word "bitchified" could
>offend some women who feel the word "bitch" is disrespectful,
>but charge it to my brain, not my heart ladies)
>
>We don't have any more black power R&B males singing songs of
>empowerment and change. It's all love shit.
>
>HOWEVER...
>
>Your (and others in this post) generalizing of homosexuals in
>this post is truly a bad thing dude. This is what's wrong
>with our culture and society and why we as black people can't
>accept homosexuals as they are.
>

I'm not generalizing anything
Stephen Hill has admitted to doing what I said these execs are doing, and he's not the only one
you could also look at Andre Harrell as another example of what I mean
these guys are basically using what's familiar to them to move units and get ratings
like I said they've said the same thing-not to the world, per se-but they've never shied away from it because its done on a strictly business level
niggas come in here with that conspiracy shit and I'm not even talking about that

>SO MANY gays are hiding amongst places like here for fear of
>being associated with the "feminine" nature of *some* gays.
>That ain't right, and it won't stop until we get smarter about
>how we explain shit.
>

I don't disagree with you, but you need to understand the context of what I'm saying
if it were 2o years ago, I'd be making this post about the gangster shit
if it were 35 years ago, I'd be making this post rappers having to look like superheros and travel in packs (no Gibson-o)

>If you want to say that the culture has gotten weak and lost
>its' "teeth", say THAT then...but don't call it homo/gay dude.
> Rise above the bullshit.
>
>Does all of ^that^ prove that I actually read your post?
>

it proves that you read AND misunderstood my post
you're treating what I'm saying like its speculation, but it's not

>Even if you COULD successfully argue that most tastemakers are
>gay black men, their ability to spot what's good or not has
>absofucktively NOTHING to do with their sexuality.
>

and like I said, it's not about their sexuality, and the music business isn't about what's good or bad anymore than house painting is about how many rollers you use

>Luther was gay as a picnic basket...and dude made so damn many
>DEFINITIVE drop ya draws anthems that MANY children could
>trace back to their point of conception...and that says what?
>©Christopher Tracy
>

actually I'm talking about Hip Hop, and yes Luther was amazing all the way around, but he's passed on now and isn't making rap records anyway
so my post has nothing to do with him, but your point still stands and would make an interesting post in and of itself

>I haven't forgotten, and I appreciate it.
>
>However, YOU got it all wrong. You didn't offend me in this
>post at all...I don't think you set out to offend gays either.
> I will say this though, with all due respect: up until now I
>have not taken your posts seriously because all the cockpuffer
>and faggotry talk was CLEARLY the work of somebody who posts
>merely for fun. Seeing you try to post about something
>serious was like seeing The Joker trying to give out serious
>makeup tips.
>

LOL I understand that, and like I said it's not even about homosexuals
it's the fact that there's no variety to the shit, and anyone that gets a deal nowadays HAS to fit into that mold or they're not getting signed
take a look at what we have now, and think about what kind of package they had beforehand
now most of these niggas were already soft around the edges, but now that they have backing that softness has gone thru the roof

>So, I'm all about resolution dude. I don't like beef...unless
>it's on a plate. So please try reconstructing your argument
>without the gay angle and let's see where you're going.
>

it's not even about the gay angle, but the fact remains is that these execs are grabbing for straws and drawing influence from their personal lives in an attempt to move units and get ratings because it's what they know best
if these niggas were circus tightrope walkers, rappers would be putting on spandex costumes with the chest out of them, and I'd still be making this post about that shit

Show me an article where Stephen Hill admitted that he's gay and that his sect of gay black males are trying to make Hip-Hop acts more like them and I will gladly 'have a coke and a smile and shut the fuck up' ©Richard Pryor via Eddie Murphy

>you could also look at Andre Harrell as another example of

ONCE AGAIN...

Where is it printed that Andre Harrell is an admitted homosexual?

Dude, that's Marketing 101. It's been that way for a long time and it ain't changin'...what's your point?

>I don't disagree with you, but you need to understand the

20 years ago AND 35 years ago, I'd STILL argue that that shit is a personal choice.

You either conform and get paid quickly, or you do it your OWN way and build slowly. THAT'S your choice. That was the choice 20 years ago, that was the choice 35 years ago, and it's the choice NOW.

>it's the fact that there's no variety to the shit, and anyone
>that gets a deal nowadays HAS to fit into that mold or they're
>not getting signed

Dude, respectfully? Go back and do some more research. Look at industry trends of years past.

Getting "signed" is a CHOICE. Not a mandatory jail term. If somebody says to you "if suck my dick I'll give you $10,000,000", is that person responsible for making you gay? I mean, you DO have a choice there. If you like sucking dick anyway, yahtzee - now you get paid for it. If you DON'T normally suck dick, why would you do it for a check?

>now most of these niggas were already soft around the edges,
>but now that they have backing that softness has gone thru the
>roof

I was right. Your post is about the music not having the "teeth" it used to have. I respect that and agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY...

HOWEVER:

>but the fact remains is that these execs are grabbing for straws
>and drawing influence from their personal lives

YOU HAVE NO PROOF that these execs are honestly and truly doing that more than you have valid proof that Tyler Perry is gay. Your whole post is based on conjecture - NOT facts.

>if these niggas were circus tightrope walkers, rappers would
>be putting on spandex costumes with the chest out of them, and
>I'd still be making this post about that shit

Look back up at what OldPro posted and see how rap niggas USED to dress. That shit is a copycat of The Village People.

be less defensive? (cursing out people that don't agree with you?) discuss...

you talk about lifestyle: please do tell this gay black man what lifestyle has been sold to straight men because i tend to think its the opposite way around. "the thug/big bad nigger motif " is still a hot selling point in black gay culture.

yes hiphop's image has gone commercial, as most popular cultures/sub-culture but to pin it on jews & gays is not enough or rather lazy...

OKP TILL IM WOKE!

I got at niggas for not reading all of what I said and just cherrypicking the shit to death

did you read ANY of my posts past the first one?
I've talked about both of those issues on here and I won't again, but I will elaborate if need be

you took two words and ran with them without even attempting to understand my point, and you call me lazy?
dude I didn't pin it on anyone or anything
and the only thing I said about Jews is that they own the record business, how you got me blaming them for anything is beyond me
whether you accept it or not, it's the truth and it's not really a secret anymore
its not about commercial/underground anymore, just take a closer look and you'll see what I mean

I'm not keeping up on current music, so if gayness is what's 'in' now (and I have some doubts about that) I'm not seeing it anyway. (the fashion styles & what I hear of the music primarily look throwback to me, not 'gay' in any concrete way.)

Also I'm surprised that noone's questioned your statement that the industry is owned by Jews and controlled by gays. I don't know enough about the inner workings of the industry - you have some stats or someplace you're actually getting this information?

its not about the fashion, per se, it's about more than the sum of its parts

pretty much the entire entertainment industry as a whole is owned by the Jewish, that's a stone cold fact that I didn't think anyone would refute
I never said that it was a bad thing, I just said that's what the case is
now what I mean by 'ran by homosexual men' is that several of the top execs in the music business, that actually get things done and do more than sign off on checks, are homosexual men
this goes for the video channels as well
these people are basically selling us what they know, which is their own lifestyle out of desperation
look at it like this: if you had to tell me about your life, or about a book you read yesterday that you didn't get to finish, which one would you have a better chance of explaining properly?
that's all I'm saying and everyone's getting caught up in a bunch of shit I didn't even say
what I did say, for those that didn't bother to read any further, is that the gay lifestyle is the main motif for Hip Hop right now
just like the gangster and the ladie's man shit before it
I don't have a problem with THAT part of it as much as I do the fact that acts have to smooth their shit out around the edges to fit in that paradigm
and I also said I took issue with it when niggas had to be even more niggery to get a deal 1o years ago, but that was missed by almost everyone in this fucking post

Okay, but so far you haven't provided any examples. Everyone's taking your word that the gay lifestyule is what's being pushed on us now. I don't really see it; can you point me in the direction of a few bigtime examples?

>pretty much the entire entertainment industry as a whole is
>owned by the Jewish, that's a stone cold fact that I didn't
>think anyone would refute

I'm not refuting, amd I know Jews are certainly prominent in the entertainment industry (along with others). But you should still be able to back up the statement with some sort of statistical figure. What percentage of music industry execs are Jewish? I have no idea, and I've never seen any stats. If none are available, name names of some of the biggest and most influential entertainment companies.

>now what I mean by 'ran by homosexual men' is that several of
>the top execs in the music business, that actually get things
>done and do more than sign off on checks, are homosexual men
>this goes for the video channels as well

again, is there some sort of statistic for this? Do you have inside information? If the guys you're referring to are well known, who are they?

>and I also said I took issue with it when niggas had to be
>even more niggery to get a deal 1o years ago, but that was
>missed by almost everyone in this fucking post

the only hip hop trend I had any lyrical sympathy with was the Daisy Age stuff. Unsurprising, of course. *shrug*

that's not even the point of my post, but at the same time just look up any of the record labels and see who the owners/check writers are

I've given Stephen Hill and Andre Harrell as examples already, I don't really think I need to go any further than that honestly so I didn't

its not about the trend as much as it is about niggas having to conform to that style to even get looked at

first of all great post, I'm not sure why people are acting like this is a joke-post or you are trolling... its probably the "gay' in the subject line

Ja Rule is the most glaring example from the early 00's in that progression from thug/big bad n***** archetype to this rapping for the bitches style. Drake with his eyebrows and metrosexual style is another huge step in this evolution; there is a whole generation of teenagers influenced by that, whose whole conception of rapping is going to be as limited to that style as all the gangster-rap clones seen a generation before.

also the 'fantasy' aspect of gangster rap that you touched on hasn't gone anywhere with metro rap imo. Its just that the fantasy sold has now been revised to getting girls by being in touch with your feelings (this damn sure aint our fathers' Too Short). Thats why teens eat artists like Drake up, relationships are all you think about at that age. We had gangster rap to channel that sexual aggression - these kids have artists to gets the in touch with it lol.

I know it hasn't, I'm just saying it's not the dominant motif now
the thing is that none of them go anywhere really, they all stick around just in case they pick up steam again
what I DO take issue with is that there's no variety-Hip Hop on every level used to touch on every angle and that's not the case anymore

Alright G Popp, you're by far the funniest poster in here and from what I've read you keep saying you're serious, so I'll put in my serious perspective.

Most of what you're saying, whether you want to admit it or not, stems from homophobia. Skinny jeans weren't jacked from homosexuals, they were jacked from skater fashion and suburban fashion. Somewhere along the line, even people from urban areas and shit decided those baggy ass jeans look like shit, those big jackets look like shit and all that 90's stuff you grew up on/probably rocked pretty heavy wasn't fresh anymore. Again, this isn't from gay men, skaters been wearing tight jeans since like 1998 or earlier. Growing their hair out too. Dudes in the burbs been growing their hair out and wearing progressively slimmer jeans since as early as 2004. If this shit translates to "homo" to you, well let me remind you there is probably some guy at a club right now, with skinnys and dunks on going home with a fine ass chick you're timbaland wearing friends don't got a chance with. It's fashion man, it repeats itself. Marvin Gaye wasn't pulling bitches in Timberand and Avirex. He was pulling girls in clothes you'd probably consider gay today.

As for the music side of it, people get tired of hearing the same shit. If rappers can sing well and want to sing their own hooks and shit, if it sounds good, fuck it. As if 2Pac wasn't busy catering to girls with that shirtless all the time shit. It's funny actually.

2Pac shirtless, showing off for girls = Masculine.

Modern rapper fully clothed, making songs chicks like = Homo-erotic.

This is considered masculine:

Looking like a jerk-off in oversized shit.

While this is considered "gay":
http://tinyurl.com/6btojrx
I guess wearing shit that actually fits is gay? Maybe they should make eveything size small, medium and large say "size gay" and everything XL and above say "size real man".

As for the content, I'd rather have someone tell the truth over tracks and speak whatever it is they feel, whether or not someone thinks being "emotional" is "not being a man" (The 50's are over man) then hear 100 different versions of stereotypical male anger.

I'm not a homoophobe, sorry if you think otherwise but once again, for like the 5oth time, if you check my other posts you'll see it has dick to do with the lifestyle itself, just the fact that it's being forced on people
I had the same issue with the gangster shit before it
I didn't say shit about skinny jeans, that's everyone else in here thinking I'm saying that

Homosexual lifestyle is being FORCED on people?

Dude...seriously...this thought here is SO flawed I don't even know where to begin.

I'm not trying to "gay up" your post, but seriously, homosexuality is no more a lifestyle than heterosexuality is.

Is the fact that you love pussy a "lifestyle"?

>it's not 'telling the truth' if someone makes you do the shit

Dudes who allow their demeanor to be softened for a paycheck are not being forced...there's always work at the post office.

Getting a entry level position at the post office is hard to get, it's a waiting list (and a long one at that if you live in a big city), I and many others have been wanting to get a job with the post office for mad years but it looks like unless a few hundred workers quit or retire in one year I'll be seeking other good places of employement.

Anyway, kats would have better luck getting a job with UPS than the USPS.

no it's not
perhaps 'lifestyle' is a bit strong as it pertains to what I'm talking about, but I'm not wrong-it's been confirmed by people in the know
take Stephen Hill over at BET, for example

>I'm not trying to "gay up" your post, but seriously,

actually they're both lifestyles that come out of personal proclivities, if you're speaking on a social level

when someone tells you 'you wanna be a star? you do this and you'll be one, and if not you owe me millions of dollars' that's strongarming someone
the industry has ALWAYS done this, it's not new
and as far as the post office is concerned, rappers would probably make out better by trying to get on there
at least there you'll make 19 an hr going in the door and you don't have to worry about going into debt just by signing your name on a piece of paper

Try "wrong" instead of "a bit strong"

I don't have it verified that Stephen Hill is gay, I haven't fucked him. How do you know?

o_0

EVEN IF Stephen Hill IS gay, his sexuality has nothing to do with his decisions as a music programmer.

The softening of a culture or rounding its' edge off does NOT equate to it being gay - that's my only point to you. Your use of that term "homo" to describe this was wrong.

Deny it if you want, but as I see it, the MAIN point of your post is that the diversity, richness and toughness of the music is gone. That has ZERO to do with sexuality dude.

?uest opined once that the Reagan era was the best for Hip-Hop because we suffered the most. I think that argument best describes the angle you're going for.

>>homosexuality is no more a lifestyle than heterosexuality is.
>

SAY IT ONE MORE TIME FOR THE CONGREGATION

>we both know there's more to it than that

EXACTLY.

The fact of being naturally attracted to who you are attracted to sexually is deeper than a "lifestyle". It's your orientation.

Now, WITHIN your orientation, you may have a 'certain' type of female (male in my case) that you go for or that turns your crank over most others. THAT'S lifestyle.

AND LMAO @ you calling ME obtuse in this motherfucker. You generalized gays in the OP AND in agreeing with somebody in this post for the basis of your argument that the industry has softened the talent pool. How's that for obtuse?

>when someone tells you 'you wanna be a star? you do this and

COME
ON!!!

THAT'S BOOLSHIT!!!

You know DAMN well that ain't how that shit starts out. These dumb ass kids get wooed by the benefits without reading up on the business of what they're actually getting into, and then they cry about the bullshit later.

Prince did it.

Michael Jackson did it.

So to see younger acts doing it ain't NOTHIN' new.

If your whole post is about how the industry has weakened the image of the black male through the music, or if your post is about the lack of diversity, richness and toughness in the music these days, you needed more research to construct your argument.

What about the people who AGREE to be the pawns for what seems to be a bigger payout without reading up on how important their publishing is?

>the industry has ALWAYS done this, it's not new

EXACTLY.

If a nigga is dumb enough to sign up to be a fool, he deserves to get took...that's how I see it. We all can hire lawyers and read...if we choose not to be educated about what we're signing, that ain't NO jewish cats' fault.

a conspiracy theorist that being "forced" shit is bullshit. Drakes been rapping the way he has been since his initial mix-tapes.

This all boils down to some obvious narrow-mindedness brother. If this is the "gay" era, then describe in explicit detail what it is you consider "masculine". That doesn't mean come talk about how Drake looks like a gay guy or some other "here is why your era is gay..." but tell me in your view what is masculine and straight.

except in that Flo Rida song I linked, where the original song that was being "Puff Daddy-ed" out for his song was one that had "undertones". Which is actually hilarious that it was used in that context.

However...

>You equated homosexuality with pedophilia.

...he didn't do this.

he said some of the homosexual men in the industry were pedophiles.

that doesn't mean homo = pedophile.

it means, "of the homosexual men that run the industry, some are pedophiles".

I think this is kind of an unfounded statement as is most of the OP, but he DOES make the distinction in that sentence, from a semantic perspective.

you're making that homo = pedophile association, not him. and then you're making the Jews = pedophiles association, too, in your earlier reply. he didn't do that in the original post.

and really, there are Jewish folks that run the record industry. This isn't news... and it's not relevant unless you consider the selective censoring that is done on rap albums. I understand it, though, knowing that, because rap lyrics were being really monitored in the '90s.

this post just might be brilliant now that I think of it.

I clicked on it to see the punchline, to see if there was a "david bammer"-type, Woodwardian breakdown of how homosexual tastemakers assembled producers to have rappers singing hooks urging men to love each other romantically. (I still maintain, that the Flo Rida song is the only example of such... I wonder if he knew that shit when he signed up)

there were some eye catching words: "Jews", "homosexuals", "pedophiles"... but if you read the post, the homophobia is minimal. the underlying idea is that perhaps, it is a big deal that the supposedly homosexual tastemakers in the industry are infiltrating hip-hop now that all the other fads have run their course, but if you're being as fair as you can while suspending disbelief, Garhartt does not cite this as a "bad" thing. Many of the replies seem to imply that it is.

It's partly reaction to the messenger (who has a track record), and partly some other shit.

This post exploded in the most hilarious way. To the point, I think that the mods should archive it once it's run its course.

if you only graduated high school and have antiquated ideas about homosexuality, masculinity, Judaism and the entertainment industry.

Sure in that case, we are all backlashing.

Doesn't Fox News have a forum where you can talk about being sold the gay image/lifestyle? I'm sure there's somebody on there talking about how stores like home depot carrying interior decoration items alongside lumber is an intrusion upon your straight male lifestyle. Tell 'em "Yo hip-hop wants to make me gay too son!"

Who have an evil plan to force their closet lifestyle upon the masses? Son, this shit's retarded. Hip-Hop has officially become part of the mainstream. The higher up's are going to exploit that as much as possible. Nothing has changed other than the acceptance and popularity of Hip Hop. Fashion and trends change all the time. This is just another phase. Rappers and a large part of the Hip Hop community are no longer trapped inside that box of needing to either be a thug or a conscience hipster. They can be whatever they want and nowadays, it's more likely to be accepted regardless. The only time I even remember that shit becoming fashionable within the Hip Hop community was when Pharrell came out with his skater steez. More and more, that shit just became trendy. Not because some jewish dudes wants everyone to be gay. I know you're gonna reply with some ol "man, that's not my point" type shit. But can you please just name me 10 rappers who fit what you're trying to explain?

is annoying from a progressive politics standpoint.

If some motherfucker came up in here making a post about somebody selling us the "black lifestyle".

You fucking hippies would be swarming in with "well what exactly is a black lifestyle?" or "What's that supposed to mean" yet there is no problem when it's about gays.

It's time like these where hip-hop deserves to be called the least progressive, most dumb-fuck filled genre of music. Scratch that, tied with country music, where you can cross lines of racial hatred for one another and unite against the homosexual agenda.

Honestly, part of the issue with us straight men is
that we don't know what the hell to call men who are
sexually attracted to men.

I've been berated for using "gay," "homo" and "queer."

And of course, "fag" is a slur.

So I've given up. I use "fag" now, but it has nothing to
do with sexuality.

If I know a dude's intent when he uses the word "gay", I may not trip. I know that sounds bad, but it's real.

no offense to homosexuals/gays/whatever the fuck term DOESN'T piss off same-sex oriented individuals.

i get what gp is gettin at though
there's been a definite castration of traditional male sensibilities in favor of more effeminate projections. everything from wardrobe to the songs themselves, this shit has gotten MAD heavy on the metro elements. sure, there was a drop or two of concentrated shock post extract for, but this post would have been considerably less interesting without it.

lol@everyone breaking out the pitchforks over this
i'm surprised gp remained civil toward so many of these rectum wrecking mary men.

It's hip to be cooly detached. It's hip to be offensive. I like that shit too.

For me, it's when you predicate the involvement of gay people in the record industry with the statement: 'some of whom are pedophiles'. I can predicate any group or classification of people like that. "Some of whom are pedophiles???????" Where the eff does that come from?

"There are lots of white people (some of whom are pedophiles) in iceland."

Hey....it's true eh? I'm not 'equating' icelanders with pedophiles. I'm just stating a fact.

see this... gotta forgivie me because i'm clueless on that shit. it's like... the midget thing. midget? dwarf? little person? vertically challenged individual? people hate labels but when you are speaking about a group o people, it's a crapshoot because everyone has their own spin and some folks LOVE to get contrary. ___________american is another tough one. some people are determined to be offended.

lol.. well that was my point... we know pops MO, we all know it well, and he's usually on deck to eviscerate someone verbally, but he held his tongue here. it was actually a thoughtful post that had that shock/controversial tint to it- which made it a better post IMO. granted, i'm not a member of the group that got clowned, so easy for me to say,

I know that in your first post you presented what you consider facts, more or less, such as the shifting trends in popular rap music from gangsta to singing to the females to a homosexually-centered theme, the control and operation of these record industries by jews and gays, and the fact that you don't think it's a coincidence.
Are you a homophobe? No. You've told us this.
Are you threatened by it? No. You've said as much.
Do you think it's a conspiracy? No. You've said this too.
So what was the point of bringing this to OKP? If you aren't adding anything to the above information, why not make some posts about the weather? You know, facts only. No opinion.

But you can't resist dropping multiple anti-gay slurs. What sort of person does that? A homophobe. Someone threatened by gays. Ding ding.

The reality is that either you are threatened, homophobic, or a conspiracy theorist, and maybe you don't know which, as you continue to run away from perfectly logical counterpoints by saying, "That's not what I said", etc.

At least say that you don't like it. Come up with any reason. Maybe because it's not as boom bappity as it was before the homos took over. Just be honest with yourself.

You may have just been wearing your hip-hop journalist hat, but you lost us with the whole "polepulser" shit. Keep the 8th grade antics away next time and your point may not be muddied.

And I only read about 80% of this shit because it gets redundant.

that some of you think this is on some cerebral humor shit. I doubt you'd spin that sophisticated humor bullshit if somebody came in here telling racist jokes.

Not to mention ain't a thing cerebral, deep or sophisticated about the humor employed.

Imma chime in...

I went out to LA to see a friend from college who is deep in the music industry and works with a ton of artist.

The first thing this nigga said to me when I got off the plane: "Nigga, don't say any anti gay shit... not even on some friendly joke shit"

He has told me about so many gay dudes in the industry I think a list of who isn't gay would save time.

It's cool, but niggas is gay and pushing it onto the kids... ask yourself this question. Have you ever seen so many gay young dudes before in your life as you see right now? I see 9 year olds just gay.. I wasn't even into chicks at 9, I was all about sports, these kids all about gay lifestyles at 9. WTF?

I'm not bashing being gay.... but I see how the gay movement has people defending overt gayness at levels I have never seen before.

I had a black friend who tried to make me feel bad about Obama's victory because the Gay Prop bill in Cali didn't pass in 2008. Now that's POWER!

As far as Jews running hip hop.... c'mon people, they run the whole entertainment industry. Only a damn fool would dispute that fact.

That's like saying Asians are smart... it's not a diss. It's a fact.

Why do you assume this "femininization" of hip hop is a result of some top-down gay conspiracy and not just an organic reaction to the changing tastes of women?

Ie, women aren't into the thug type anymore; so men no longer need to act tough to appeal to women.

like i said the Moqul runs it all.

hammer got laughed and played out but Puffy, flaunted pop like bread to a toaster.

and when cats are making videos and flexing and calling each other out of there names and no chick is in sight what that look like?

who pays that budget to pimp and Promote said image to the masses and also the assianation of the Black Male character on display?

sagging, and rolling with a clique etc...

a cat like the Game is why this thread is extremly valid. number 1 album huh?

he is so soft that Q tip can't keep him the package even if it was sealed. snitch and name drop is all he does.

got cats like drake singing and sounding middle of the road with euro soft sounds as well.

these cats sound autotoned and soft. spineless and a puppetmastet pulling the strings and watering thangs down badly.

Why do people continue to bring up Steven Hill? Is he even confirmed as gay? Some of you act like he's running the music industry.

By far the most interesting post I've seen on here in a while. It is crazy how so many artist act like divas now. Decades ago Jazz Artist dressed like grown men. Even the 80's Rakim & KRS dressed hood. now, its almost like it is when I go to ATL & DC when the dudes almost try to act soft. Its weird..Hip Hop is no different...lool at the tights pants and weak styles that are far from what real men would wear...man

the clothing with the tight pants these days is practically unisex

lil wayne wore womens pants at the vmas

lil b need i say more

asap rocky signs for more than drake and 50cent without any proven track record
the first words out his mouth is "i be that pretty motha...."
in the first two interviews i find he goes out his way to acknowledge shoutout that he thinks homosexuality is acceptable..
the dude literally stated "the days of sexual preference are over" in one of the interviews...

nicki minaj... representing bisexuality is cool

your are correct in your assessment...
