A lot of dudes are linking articles and music links that you have to get to by going through their site or blog. Like a pitchfork article that you have to click on their site and then click on the pitchfork link. This shameless plugging is outta control on here.

Like someone already said, if you are offering some kind of original content on your blog, that's one thing.
But these jokers are doing bullshit like posting a screaming headline about some "news" from another source, or some new video and then linking their blog when they could have just linked the YouTube video they have embedded there, or the source URL for the "news" piece that they copied from somewhere else and pasted on their shitty blog.

it really has gotten out of control, and most of the time the blog contents are neither insightful nor exclusive.
the most G thing i've seen recently has been okpdan editing out a dude's blog link and pointing toward the relevant OKP blog, which often does have the same content as these blogs and first.

I have a blog. You'll see its link in my sig. That should be as far as it goes for anyone posting on OKP Boards. (I'm a newbie and even I know better.) I think that's overkill on the real. Most blog sites allow comments there anyway...so why go to another site to talk about somethin' people are talkin' about elsewhere. Let the Mods handle it...

Most people on OKP probably don't know I have a blog. And yet I've been quite successful with it.
I think that's what irritates me most: the fact that all these fly-by-night bloggers who ain't built for the game feel they should be able to scrounge for clicks by stealth-spamming this board.... It's disgusting.
I really need these people to banned. No warnings. Just instant disappearing.

Because that's exactly what it is. After Little Brother blew up we got everybody and their mother posting up their demos in here, thinking the same would happen to them. And nowadays it's blogs. These cats have a blog with a total of 5 posts on it, and don't even last a year with blogging. They're just thinking it's as simple as it looks.
Funny thing about your blog is that I found a few people here who read (and I believe even commented on it) it, who have no link with Okp at all indeed.

I have found COUNTLESS music, videos and content here by other bloggers, ambitious artists, etc, that is still on my CPU's hard drive and I had the great BENEFIT of discovering and being ENTERTAINED by the content via it being SHARED in this MUSIC COMMUNITY-based MESSAGE BOARD. Follow the caps, people.

You think people are obsessed with and/or picking on you but it's just you touch a continual nerve. Though we should all be able to say you've made progress in that regard (ie you're actually making topics of discussion rather than just posting your latest blog article). But seriously though, we're here, we've been here. We have a sense of who's here. We have a sense of their patterns. Things don't get deleted quickly. If you make the same type of post today that you did six months ago, there's a chance one of us will remember it, and being able to find it isn't that hard at all.
Howard loves doing this to *everybody* (and has actually *never* done it to you btw). If you hang around and watch the culture of this space you'd pick up on m.o.'s (no ho's). Howard's isn't the bump all of your threads to page one, though it may seem like a consequence of it. His is 'cross-post' indicating a current subject is related to a previous one.
Now someone else (not I said the wolf) has an M.O. which says "Imma shout this shit out to the mods by bumping all this person's threads to page one so some of them shit's get deleted" Usually it targets someone constantly throwing up posts that garner no discussion at all primarily because their just spam links. It's not really personal with them, but they aim to make it feel that way.
The overall purpose though is that this is a message board for discussion and if you ain't discussing shit there's no need for you to be here. Again though you've been doing better. Just realize that folk here do police themselves because they value the discussion that can be had here.
Last but not least none of the people discussed in this post are aliases. Don't think we're all the same.
I know the rest of you are rational. Howisya/Austin is the only one who stalks my posts and re-ups them to create some kind of tension. Everyone's entitled to their opinions on who posts what, obviously. That's why a long form post like this makes sense to air out takes on the question. That said, I gotta refer to Reply #3. That's how I feel about it.
